CONTINUED: Finish the sentence he was talking about in Jude 22 Be merciful to those who doubt; 23 save others by snatching them from the fire; to others show mercy, mixed with fear-hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh. So your "unconditional love" version isn't completely scriptural on it's own it must be tempered with the truth of righteousness.

    • @BethLefever
      @BethLefever Рік тому

Interesting. Is that unconditional love, though? The following part of the sentence does not negate that we have been told to be merciful to those who doubt. In my experience it is much more effective to offer mercy, grace and love to those who doubt than it is to judge them and act self righteous toward them. God patiently and mercifully loves those he chooses to draw to himself, until they submit to him in response to His love. Are you suggesting that we should not love those who either doubt or are lost? Self righteousness and browbeating others never wins people over.

@@BethLefever you confuse two very different and distinct concepts: being judgemental/self-righteous and telling the truth.
Christians are called to tell the truth, to be lights in the world and salt of the earth. When they tell the truth, they are neither judgemental, nor self-righteous. But people do not like the truth and they are throwing mud at those who love them enough to tell them they are on the wrong path, calling them bigoted, unloving, judgemental, self-righteous.
It is true, some people are less skilled than others in telling the truth, and they do it in a less palatable way than others. However, the truth remains true, and we shouldn't discard the message just because we didn't like the messenger, or we didn't like the way the message was delivered.
The truth relates to the message. Being judgemental/self-righteous relates to the messenger.

    • @BethLefever
      @BethLefever 8 місяців тому

I agree that we need to tell the truth, but as Tim always said and modeled, we are called to speak the truth in love, meaning in a spirit or motivation of love for the soul of the other person/s. It’s when we rush in with the right answers without being loving and caring about the person that we are wrong. There has to be a lack of superiority and a sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit because sometimes I am not the person to deliver that truth and sometimes I am. If I’m rushing the truth it’s usually from wanting to make myself look superior (not caring about the other person first). It’s when I wait on the Lord’s timing and speak when HE wants me to and in the way HE leads that there can be some kind of positive outcome. No love = judgmental tone and failure to connect with that person.
So it’s not about being skilled in how to properly correct others, it’s about the heart of the person delivering the truth. Truth without love (grace) is dead. (James 2: 12-13) It matters who takes on the role of messenger with any given audience, as well as the truth they deliver.

I agree. Tim Keller is like a modern day prophet. He has the tone, timbre, and approach to the gospel that is absolutely perfect for our modern western culture. I wish this was on the front page of UA-cam. Imagine that!

This is a great response. He warns and instructs the guy to be careful or he could be like the very people he is looking down at. He also tells the crowd that Christian faith is not about moral superiority as seen in going to hell soap box preachers but instead reinforces are weakness. So we are not saved by our own goodness but that of another - Christ died for our sins and rose again - we are saved by faith in his superiority and his grace and mercy. I'm not sure why people are saying he didn't share the gospel. Maybe people just wanted him to repeat 1 Corinthians 15:3-4? As if he didn't know it.

According the Keller here the Gospel is that God, through Christ has offered us righteousness aside from how well we live righteously afterwards if we will accept it and cling to the branch of Christ for life. And that our position as clinging to life should cause us to be more merciful and patient and humble and gentle with those who struggle to believe.

@@kingdomambassador1904 Saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ "alone" for salvation.

Repentance of sins is a lifetime of works and has never saved anyone or contributed in any way to salvation.

"And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God." (1 Cor 2:1-5)
"For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of no effect." (1 Cor 1:17)
Tim was asked one of the greatest questions he could ever receive, yet he failed miserably in answering it.
The gospel is that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins, was buried in a tomb, and rose from the dead proving that He had accomplished what He said He would accomplish, which is to die to take away the sins of those who believe in Him.
"Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you-unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures" (1 Cor 15:1-4)

He answered it 3 times: 2:15, 3:10 and 4:10. You need to understand though that the questioner seemed to be angry towards what he saw as self-righteous Christians and Keller was making a distinction between people who truly trusted in the redemptive work of Christ and those who were harping on works righteousness.

The truncated gospel of Christianity is good at appeasing our fear of death, and converting people to Christianity, but it fails when it comes to winning souls to Christ by being born again, no longer being led by their fear of death but by their fear of the Lord. Our short UA-cam teaching called: "The Whole Gospel", provides the whole message of why it had to be Christ, why He had to die, and how we're reconciled to the Father. This is the gospel the Apostles shared that caused thousands to repent and be baptized.

I'm kind of disappointed at Keller's answer. I enjoy his sermons and how he is able to put the listener in a broader perspective while still in biblical doctrine but this is a very simple question without going around it and putting on an intellect spin to it. Jesus Christ is the way, the truth and the life and no man can come to the Father except through Him. Jesus came here as God in the flesh, died on the cross to save the whole world, was buried and rose again on the third day. All who repent from their sins and believe in Him with their heart and say with their mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour shall have everlasting life. Jesus also command us to be baptized in the Spirit and surrender to the cross and bear our own and FOLLOW Him. We are to obey, devote, and live as new creatures in Christ Jesus. Was far as the people who stand on soap boxes, most of them are preaching the Gosepl. They proclaim the good news which includes exposing sin and warning about God's wrath . You do not need to have a ph D to accept the TRUTH , because we are not to lean on our own understanding but to live on THE WORD.

Lies. The gospel means “good news”. The gospel is the proclamation of who Jesus is and what He did for His elect only. The entire Bible (Old testament and New Testament) foreshadows and proclaims who Jesus is and what He did for His elect only (John 5:39, Luke 24:44).
Jesus is the Son of God (John 3:16), fully God and fully man (John 1:1 & 1:14) and second person in the Trinity (Matthew 3:16-17).
The gospel is God’s testimony concerning Jesus as revealed in the Holy Scriptures by the Holy Spirit which proclaims how Jesus the Christ (John 1:41, Matthew 16:16) was born of a virgin (Matthew 1:23) and born under the law to redeem His elect who were under the law and save His elect from their sins (Matthew 1:21, Galatians 4:4).
God’s elect /sheep are the people past, present and future from every tribe, tongue and nation God actively chose to redeem/ justify/save based on Christ. God chose in Christ before the foundation of the world was laid according to the good pleasure of His will for His glory (Revelations 5:9, Ephesians 1:4-5). God actively created and chose a people from every tribe, tongue and nation before they were born for salvation whom God has always loved because of Christ and only Christ (Romans 8). God’s elect are vessels of mercy prepared beforehand for glory to make known the riches of His glory (Romans 9). God’s elect/sheep are God’s chosen vessels of mercy that are Jews and Gentiles because of Christ. (John 10, Romans 9:23-26, Hosea 2:23)
God is Holy (Isaiah 6:3). God’s law is holy and good (Romans 7:12). The law of God demands perfection in word, thought, and deed at all times (James 2:10). The law was given through Moses (John 1:17). The law condemned all mankind and brought knowledge of sin (Romans 3:19-20). All people are under sin and none are righteous (Romans 3:9-18). Sin entered the world through Adam and death through sin and death spread to all mankind because all sinned. (Romans 5:12-13).
Jesus Christ is the Passover lamb without blemish (1 Peter 1:19) for His elect by God’s sovereign grace (1 Corinthians 5:7). Just as the Israelites were released from Egypt after the death of the firstborn (Exodus 11-13) - Jesus Christ the firstborn of all creation (Colossians 1:15) justified all His elect at the cross from the wrath of God(Romans 5:9-11). Jesus willingly went to the cross (Philippians 2:8) and offered one sacrifice for all time for His elect He sanctified (Hebrews 10:11-14) as their representative and High priest. Jesus was crucified for the elect’s sin and raised for their justification (Romans 4:25). It pleased God the Father to crush His only begotten Son( Isaiah 53:10) and God the Father accepted Jesus’ perfect sacrifice on behalf of His sheep( Acts 2:23) . Jesus paid His elect’s sin debt and there is now no condemnation for those who are married to Christ (Romans 7-8).
By Christ’s knowledge He justified all His elect (Isaiah 53:11) and finished His mission (John 19:30). All of God’s sheep will believe God’s testimony concerning Christ because Jesus justified them by His perfect sacrifice on the cross. Not one sheep Jesus died for will perish. Jesus is the good shepherd. Faith(believing God’s testimony concerning Jesus) is the fruit of what Jesus accomplished for His sheep. God’s sheep are righteous before God by the imputed righteousness of Christ provided at the cross as prophesied in Psalm 32 and fulfilled in John 19. All Jesus died for are regenerated at God’s appointed time to believe God’s testimony concerning Christ on who Christ is and what He did at the cross( Acts 13:48).

    - Sincerely believe and put your faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ that He died for our sins, He was buried, and He rose again the third day to save you from your sins:
    (1 Corinthians 15:1-4 KJV & John 3:14-21, 36 KJV)
    - Sincerely call upon the name of the Lord (ask) for salvation:
(Romans 10:8-13 KJV, Matthew 12:37 KJV, Luke 18:13-14 KJV, and Psalm 145:18-19 KJV)
The fact that unbelievers know that what most people that profess to be Christians preach isn't the gospel is VERY concerning. And to make matters worse they don't know what the gospel is when they're asked about it... and to add insult to injury he didn't give them the gospel either! The extra fluff he adds just confuses people and makes matters worse... Lord Jesus help us all.

man has sinned and fallen short of God's glory and the only thing man deserves in death because the wages of sin is death...but God Who is rich in mercy sent his perfect holy sinless Son Jesus to take that death penalty on himself in place of repentant sinners. God commands a person to repent of their sins and believe that Jesus died in their place. Jesus took the wrath of God so that we wouldn't have to. Jesus then imputes His perfect righteousness onto that repentant person. God then sees this new creation as if they had never sinned...they are covered in Jesus righteousness.

      Appel Jimy:
I don't know if you ever received and answer to your question, and it has been two years since you asked.
The video never did say what the gospel is.
I would like to share with you the gospel Jesus preached to the people and why the Jews wanted to kill him for preaching the gospel message to them.
First let me share a very important passage that sheds a lot of light on the subject of the gospel.
      Luke 8:1 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
Keep this passage in mind as I continue.
      lets look at John 8:37
      John 8:37 (KJV)
37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
Why did the Jews seek to kill Jesus? What word of Christ had no place in the Jews?
Next lets look at John 8:40
      John 8:40 (KJV)
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
Why did the Jews seek to kill Jesus? what was the truth Jesus told the Jews?
Next lets look at John 8:45
      John 8:45 (KJV)
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
What was the truth Jesus told the Jews that they did not believe?
OK, lets put all this into context so we can see what it is Jesus was addressing here.
      John 8:31-45 (KJV)
      31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
33 They answered him, We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free?
34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever.
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
37 I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you.
38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.
39 They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham.
40 But now ye seek to kill me, a man that hath told you the truth, which I have heard of God: this did not Abraham.
41 Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, even God.
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
45 And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.
What is it Jesus said to the Jews in verse 32?
Jesus told the Jews the truth shall make them free.
      This offended the Jews. Why?
What did they answer Jesus in verse 33?
We be Abraham's seed, and were never in bondage.
In verse 34 Jesus answered them with this: Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.
A servant is bound to his master.
In verse 36 Jesus tells the Jews: If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
So lets look at verse 37 again.
Jesus tells the Jews; ye seek to kill me because my word hath no place in you.
What word I Jesus talking about? What word has no place in the Jews?
Lets lake a look at that word in verse 42 and 43
42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me:
43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
Now lets look at verse 44.
Jesus told the Jews they are of their father the devil, and the lusts of their father they will do. Jesus went on to tell them their father, the devil was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him.
And so we see in verse 45, Jesus tell the Jews, because I tel you the truth, ye believe me not.
The truth and the word Jesus told the Jews that they did not believe or have in them was "LOVE"!
The Jews wanted to kill Jesus because there was no love in them.
Jesus was clear they were in bondage to their wickedness, but because of their self righteousness they were offended that he would say they were in bondage, and needed to be set free.
Jesus came preaching freedom, through love.
Love is the avenue to freedom.
Lets look at what Paul states in Romans.
      Romans 8:21 (KJV)
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
Paul stated what Jesus was preaching. deliverance from bondage into liberty (freedom).
Paul make another very important statement in Galatians.
      Galatians 5:1-6 (KJV)
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
2 Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
3 For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
4 Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Verse one Paul says to stand fast in the liberty (freedom) wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
In verse 6 Paul tells us the thing that avails is faith which worketh by love.
Faith in the liberty (freedom) of Jesus Christ worketh by love.
Lets look back at John 8:36 again.
      John 8:36 (KJV)
36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
      Lets go back to 8:1
      Luke 8:1 (KJV)
1 And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
We see here in Luke that Jesus preached and shewed the glad tidings (gospel).
What does it mean Jesus shewed the gospel?
What was it Jesus did from city to city? Matthew 9:35 tells us.
      Matthew 9:35 (KJV)
35 And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.
Jesus was heal the people. In doing so he was shewing the gospel to the people through his love for them.
To be sick and diseased is bondage. Jesus what setting them free from that bondage.
Many have preached that God becoming king over the nations was the good news. This is a false gospel.
The people were not moved by the preaching of a new king.
Also many preach Christ's, death, burial and resurrection are the gospel. This also is a false Gospel.
The death, burial and resurrection, were the works of Christ to bring forth the good news he preached about.
Liberty, freedom from the bondage of sin and death.
      Romans 8:1-2 (KJV)
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.
      Hebrews 2:14-15 (KJV)
      14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
There is so much I could add to this but what I have shared should reveal what the gospel message is that Christ preached.
Appel Jimy, The answer to your question: "so what is gospel?" Gospel is good news! the message of the gospel was and is; LIBERTY, FREEDOM!
This is and was good news to so many under bondage. Through Christ, the Messiah, our Saviour and God's love for us there is LIBERTY, FREEDOM!
      Romans 9:30-33 (KJV)
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
      32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;
33 As it is written, Behold, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
      Romans 10:4 (KJV)
4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.

Your position, that some of the elect will miss out on salvation is contrary to the teaching of the apostle Paul.
"For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified" (Rom 8:29-30)

Jesus says they lasted a short time. Did he say they never received it? No.

As a REFORMED street preacher, I resent Keller's judgement and over-generalization of a street preacher's motives. What if, like Jeremiah, he is just telling people what God has said in His Word? Will it always be soft and popular? No way! Look at what Paul called unbelievers in Rom. 1:18ff! "Gossips, slanderers, haters of God, insolent, haughty, boastful, inventors of evil... foolish, faithless, heartless, ruthless!" Open air preacher Peter called them "Messiah murderers" in Acts 2. Be careful.

The man asking the question seems to be bothered by the truth told by Christians opposing abortion. He called them 'religious' in a derogatory way, and asks what is the Gospel, as if they were out of line in some way.
Unfortunately Tim does not provide an adequate answer. Not only he does not really explain what the Gospel is, but in explaining the difference between religios people and Christians (which would have been spot on in the right context), he seemed to support the idea that those Christians who were opposing abortion were doing something wrong.
In my experience, many people confuse two very different and distinct concepts: being judgemental/self-righteous and telling the truth.
However, the truth remains true regardless of delivery, and we shouldn't discard the message just because we didn't like the messenger, or we didn't like the way the message was delivered.
The truth relates to the message. Being judgemental/self-righteous relates to the messenger.
Even if we don't like the messenger or the way the message was delivered, we should accept the truth.

Until a man embraces the abject deadness of man in his natural state (Rom 3:10-18), and acknowledges that regeneration precedes the act of faith in time (John 5:24, John 8:47, I John 5:1), such a man will have a distorted view of the gospel and the saving grace of God.
It seems that most of God's children are very confused on this matter - their minds having been addled by centuries of church tradition and departure from the scriptures.

  • @theearstohear
    @theearstohear 12 років тому

When Keller says, "I only get it WHEN I ADMIT that I am a moral failure," he is contradicting the scriptures and denying the doctrine of depravity and salvation by sovereign grace that he is attempting to represent.
Simply stated, if man in his natural state can admit such as a means of obtaining eternal salvation, then man is not totally depraved. On the other hand, if only a regeneration man can admit these things - THAT man ALREADY has eternal life, and didn't "admit" to obtain it.

  • @theearstohear
    @theearstohear 12 років тому

The bible's teaching is that Christ did EVERYTHING required to save his chosen people (Heb 10:14, Rom 5:19). The gospel tells God's people this truth and assures them that those who believe it HAVE eternal life (John 3:16). Indeed the very faith whereby they are able to receive gospel truth is an ex-post-facto evidence (Heb 11:1) of the fact that they are ALREADY born again since it is a fruit of the indwelling Holy Spirit of God (Gal 5:22).

@pietyhill You make some good points, but assuming you're reformed, is there really ANYTHING the evangelist can do - or not do - to stand in the way of God sovereignly bringing someone to faith? I believe in telling people the truth about how God sees them. Whether the context for His view was Christian or non-Christian isn't important to me; if it's true and in Scripture, it's fair game to be preached. Christians shouldn't have any "dirty little secrets" when it comes to the unbeliever.

@TheTruthCanHurt Jeremiah is calling God's elect nation to repentance and obedience to the covenant they have made with God... unbelievers are called to repent of unbelief and idolatry. Paul is speaking to believers in Romans 1 *about* unbelievers, but in Athens he speaks like Keller *to* unbelievers on the street in Acts 17. As one who has done a tiny amount of street preaching and evangelism, I've found it important to know your audience... speak to their particular form or area of unbelief.

Very few unsaved are in genuine doubt. Satan blinded their minds to the Gospel. Why? Because they hate the Light in favor of their love of sin and are in settled unbelief. Genuine doubt is not at issue - unbelief and refusal to repent of sin, is.
Also, people "on soapboxes" aren't necessarily self-righteous or w/o humility just for calling sin "sin." Do they preach Christ crucified along with it? The man never said, but Keller did not CLEARLY share Christ and Him crucified. Anyone else notice?

I agree, but you miss the part, Reformed understanding does not teach that the Gospel call is not for everyone - that is rather addressed by Hyper-calvinism. Gospel is to be preached to everyone, but only people who will be regenerated by the grace of God will come to Jesus Christ.. those who are not regenerated by the grace of God through Holy Spirit will by themselves never come to God BY themselves. I'd suggest you to read what the Reformed are actually sayng before making such claims.

THE GOSPEL (GOOD NEWS) IS NOT ABOUT GETTING SAVED...FROM GOD!
What is the Gospel or Good News? For many of today's Neo Evangelicals, it seems like it usually starts off as something like a way to make your current life happier! We're seeing more and more "bible-based" churches change their names to titles that imply a sort of family connectedness--"The Bridge," or "Love Community" or plain old "Connect"!
If you visit these churches, long gone are the old-fashioned pulpits with maybe a choir seated behind, that are now replaced by a big stage, big screens, light shows, and an entire band...in other words, they've become a place of entertainment!
Next come the greeters--people who will be sure to make you feel welcome, try to get your personal information, invite you to other activities which carry the promise of a new, extended family!
This still relatively new approach to getting people to join a church has been very effective! In an age where people feel very lonely and disconnected, but at the same time, got really sick and tired of being cooped up for two years watching every single movie and show Netflix had to offer, some live entertainment, especially when led by an attractive pastor/wife couple, is very appealing and many join up!
What, then, happens after joining? Well, unlike what churches used to do many decades ago--made sure you understood what the church believed BEFORE you joined, now they only start in with the indoctrination afterwards!
While many, if not most, people who join any one of the many modern Neo Evangelical churches (and to be clear, they NEVER call themselves "Neo Evangelicals," but usually, if asked, will vacillate and say things like, "Oh, we're just Christians.") come in for the all the "love" they feel, it's not long before the HATE is instilled!
Soon, the new church member is exposed to white nationalism, the "biblical basis" for unfettered Capitalism, conspiracies galore about Satan having taken over the governments of the world (as long as they're not run by the American Republican Party, or an equivalent in other nations) and of course, the God-given right, if not the requirement, to be lethally armed!
In short order, the Neo Evangelical church member is glued to right wing TV news, like Fox News, Newsmax and OAN. They're inundated with a constant stream of messaging that fuels fear and hate. Anyone who does not agree with what is presented as the "Christian position" on abortion, policing, health care, vaccinations, LGBTQ+ rights, how history is taught in public schools, and so on, are no longer just other fellow Americans who have different opinions on issues, but are "the enemies of Christ"! And since they are God's enemies, of course, he plans to let them experience his full wrath by burning them alive, for eternity, in the next life!
So, is this what Jesus of Nazareth really had in mind, when he proclaimed HIS Good News? Was the "salvation" Jesus of Nazareth believed in, getting saved FROM GOD? No! Absolutely not!
By great contrast, the Good News of Jesus was that no person was beyond the grace and forgiveness of God, and that no matter what one has done before to hurt other other people, all are still unconditionally loved and forgiven their sins and can, upon realizing this and just how foolish it is to try to find peace and happiness by trampling on others, is a delusion! That real peace and happiness comes only from leading a life of doing good, helping others to the best of one's ability, to be relieved of their suffering.
Unlike most of the Jews of Jesus' day (including his own disciples) who were looking for an EARTHLY Kingdom of God to solve the problems of the world, and unlike many of today's Neo Evangelicals who look forward to entering a HEAVENLY Kingdom of God, minus all of "God's enemies"...Jesus taught us to love everyone, even OUR enemies! In other words, Jesus taught that God has no enemies, and that the REAL Kingdom of God resides inside the hearts and minds of PEOPLE, and expands on a one-by-one basis, each time a person realizes the love and forgiveness of God and, in direct response, begins showing that love to all others!

    THE GOSPEL.
ALL MEN ARE BORN SPIRITUALLY SEPARATED FROM GOD, THIS BECAUSE OF THEIR DEAD SPIRIT. BUT GOD IN HIS INFINITE MERCY MADE A WAY TO SAVE HIS PEOPLE - THE GOSPEL: JESUS' DEATH, BURIAL, AND BODILY RESURRECTION. IF THE HOLY SPIRIT EVER REBIRTHS YOU (GIVES YOU FAITH TO BELIEVE THE GOSPEL WAS ACCOMPLISHED JUST FOR YOU AND QUICKENS YOUR SPIRIT) AND THIS FAITH CAUSES YOU TO DESIRE TO PLEASE GOD THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, YOU ARE SAVED.
WITHOUT SAID ‘DESIRE’ YOU ARE NOT SAVED.

The irony of Keller's explanation of the gospel is that it too is NOT the gospel. When he says of the saving grace of God that "I only get it WHEN I ADMIT that I am a moral failure" he is contradicting the scriptures. The bible teaches that the natural man is dead (Eph 2:1) and has "no understanding" (Rom 3:11). The requirement of "admission" on the part of the unregenerate for a man to obtain eternal salvation is, simply stated, mission impossible.

The Good News is God made away to get rid of Death and receive Eternal Life/ It is Life vs Death/ Not a bunch of Religious Mumbo, Jumbo/ Jesus is a Person, the Son of God/ not a christian. We are called to put on his Image and Move on to a NEW REALITY where Death has pasted away. JESUS is not a Religion, he was Never, Ever a Christian/ We are invited to Become SONS OF GOD, not christians.

So, Jesus died in my place for what? Jesus died and resurrected in my place is not the gospel. Jesus died on the cross to take my sins and resurrected on the third day. That's the gospel 1st Corinthians 15:1-4, 1st Peter 2:24

I would give the video poor ratings. While Keller says many good things, his affirmation that "I only get it WHEN I ADMIT that I am a moral failure" is terribly ignorant of the new birth which imparts eternal life (Eph 2:1) and precedes the acts of repentance and faith in time (I Jn 5:1). If a man is born again before he repents and believes, then he has "gotten it (salvation)" not "when he admits" but BEFORE he admits - indeed "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." (Matt 12:28)

This is the GOSPLE of Jesus! If any man teach another GOSPEL let him be accursed.
    Luke 4:18 (GOSPLE)
16And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.
17And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,.....
    👉🏽Isaiah 61:6 (GOSPEL)
    The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me TO PREACH 👉🏾GOOD TIDINGS (GOSPEL)”❇️.👈🏾 unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
    2👉🏽”To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, ❗️AND❗️.... THE DAY OF VENGEANCE OF OUR GOD;❇️ to comfort all that mourn;
3 👉🏽To appoint unto them that mourn ❇️ “IN ZION ”❇️👈🏽, to give unto..”THEM” 👈🏽 beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he might be glorified.
4 And they shall build the old wastes, they shall raise up the former desolations, and they shall repair the waste cities, the desolations of many generations.
5And strangers shall stand and feed your flocks, and the sons of the alien shall be your plowmen and your vinedressers.
6But ye shall be named the Priests of the LORD: men shall call you the Ministers of our God: ❇️👉🏽ye shall eat the riches of the GENTILES,👈🏽❇️ and in their glory shall ye boast yourselves.
7FOR YOUR SHAME YE SHALL HAVE DOUBLE; and for confusion they shall rejoice in their portion: therefore in their land they shall possess the double: EVERLASTING JOY SHALL BE UNTO THEM.
8For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make AN EVERLASTING COVENANT WITH THEM.
9And 👉🏽THEIR SEED shall be known ❇️AMONG the gentiles👈🏽, and their offspring ❇️ AMONG the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed.
10I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herselfwith her jewels.
11For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.

Why does he snicker when he talks about the bible? And he seems to be ridiculing those who do seek righteousness in Christ. We are called to repentance it's plainly obvious in Scripture. Sounds great even humble on the surface because, but dig into the words. He's really calling for more of acceptance of sin rather than truth. Read Jude his quote1:20! rather it says: Jude 5.. I want to remind you that the Lord delivered his people out of Egypt, but later destroyed those who did not believe.

We don't even know who the writers of the Gospels were, and don't have the original manuscripts themselves either. We just have later copies of copies of copies of copies … of copies of the assumed lost originals. And with each copy the copyist usually felt free to alter details or rewrite whole parts of the manuscript. (We usually don't trust dubious anonymous sources as evidence for anything, do we?) Horseshit for fools to be controlled by Charlatans

Keller is using a straw man argument. It goes like this: "If you try to be more righteous and holy than than the sinners around you, them you're automatically self-righteous and more arrogant than the sinners around you". Why is that not true? Because Jesus commands us in Scripture that our righteousness should exceed that of the Pharisees, and that God commands us to be perfect. Obviously, all of this isn't possible without the Holy Spirit, but that's precisely what He was sent to do!
