I just came across Heiser a few weeks ago, he will be missed. We need more scholars and teachers like him. No yelling, no arms waving wildly, just relentlessly drilling down into the the truth (so far as we find it or understand it -- from the SCRIPTURES) He just calmly and meticulously details what we find in the scriptures, and honestly admits when there are various options for interpretation. Personally, I find this to be a far more effective message than we get from most preachers. I do understand that a pastor has a lot of other things they have to deal with than scriptural exposition, but I, and I think many people in this age need to know how and WHY the information in the Bible works together, and how the spiritual realm interacts with our material world. Bless you Dr. Heiser, you have earned your rest. Well done you good and faithful servant of our Lord! 🙏✝️🙏
up to a point I for once agree with this sadly deceased man, but it is a little more than being able to SAY the right thing - it is truly BELIEVING it and then living out its implications, which no one can do by remaining a JW, Mormon, Catholic or whatever.
Yes, this is only half the truth. The truth is that Christ Himself plants faith in His people, and that faith compels people to live it out. It is not being able to make a statement of belief alone. Salvation is received, never earned, and the assurance of salvation that goes along with it is divine in origin. God will then lead His people out of systems of theology and religions alien to His word, but He is the one who starts that process.
The thing about posing that question, which is a great one, to Mormons or JW’s is that even if they say yes, they don’t believe in the real Jesus. They believe in “another Jesus” that can’t save.
New Covenant Whole Gospel: Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49? Is the King of Israel now the Head of the Church, and are we His Body? Why did God allow the Romans to destroy the Old Covenant temple and the Old Covenant city, about 40 years after His Son fulfilled the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34 in blood at Calvary? What the modern Church needs is a New Covenant Revival (Heb. 9:10) in which members of various denominations are willing to re-examine everything they believe and see if it agrees with the Bible, instead of the traditions of men. We need to be like the Bereans. It will be a battle between our flesh and the Holy Spirit. It will not be easy. If you get mad and upset when someone challenges your man-made Bible doctrines, that is your flesh resisting the truth found in God's Word. Nobody can completely understand the Bible unless they understand the relationship between the Old Covenant given to Moses at Mount Sinai and the New Covenant fulfilled in blood at Calvary. What brings all local churches together into one Body under the blood of Christ? The answer is found below. Let us now share the Old Testament Gospel found below with the whole world. On the road to Emmaus He said the Old Testament is about Him. He is the very Word of God in John 1:1, 14. Awaken Church to this truth. Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah: Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD: Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Is the most important genealogy in the Bible found in Matthew 1:1 (Gal. 3:16)? Is God's Son the ultimate fulfillment of Israel (John 1:49)? Why has the modern Church done a pitiful job of sharing the Gospel with modern Orthodox Jews? Why would someone tell them they are God's chosen people and then fail to share the Gospel with them? Who is the seed of the woman promised in Genesis 3:15? What did Paul say about Genesis 12:3 in Galatians 3:8, 3:16? Who is the "son" in Psalm 2? Who is the "suffering servant" of Isaiah 53? Who would fulfill the New Covenant promised in Jeremiah 31:31-34? Who would fulfill the timeline of Daniel chapter 9 before the second temple was destroyed? Why have we not heard this simple Old Testament Gospel preached on Christian television in the United States on a regular basis? Once a person comes to understand the New Covenant promised to Israel and Judah in Jeremiah 31:31-34, which is found fulfilled by Christ during the first century in Hebrews 8:6-13, and Hebrews 10:16-18, and specifically applied to the Church in 2 Corinthians 3:6-8, and Hebrews 12:22-24, man-made Bible doctrines fall apart. Let us now learn to preach the whole Gospel until He comes back. The King of Israel is risen from the dead! (John 1:49, Acts 2:36) We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18. We are come instead to the New Covenant church of Mount Zion and the blood in Hebrews 12:22-24. 1Jn 3:22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight. 1Jn 3:23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. 1Jn 3:24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us. The following verses prove the Holy Spirit is the master teacher for those now in the New Covenant. Jer 31:34 And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more. Mar 1:8 I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost. Joh 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Act 11:16 Then remembered I the word of the Lord, how that he said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost. 1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. 1Jn 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him. I don't believe we are going to have a lot of time left for a revival but I'm definitely praying for one. However, I'm seeing a lot of world events that would appear to align with the possibility of them being the end times, but none of us will truly know that until prophecy is fulfilled. I love how you mentioned the genealogy in Matthew 1. I remember reading that a few months ago, and it blew my mind how perfect God's plan is. I think the real reason why the Gospel is not preached on "Christian television" is because they don't want to offend anyone and gain or maintain viewership. I don't watch traditional television (mainly youtube and other platforms), but I am disturbed by something I think is far more sinister. I grew up in a church where we had an altar call each and every Sunday. While I don't think an altar call is the best way or only way to do it, but the Gospel was preached in each and every sermon. In the past decade, 100% of the churches I have been to do not preach the Gospel at all. I have heard some pastors allude to it, but they only preach a "feel good message" to tickle the ears of the people who wouldn't be there otherwise. The Gospel message is profoundly simple, yet simply profound. Sadly, a lot of people would rather compromise and not preach: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6 KJV. It truly breaks my heart.
No, just produce the message that Peter gave at Pentecost and what Paul gave at Athens, then you will have the same message that Jesus commanded the 12 and then the 70 to declare.
We have Paul saying his interpretation and Jesus in Matthew 7:19-23 his version. I don't think those are mutually exclusive, I think it's simplistic to take one side and claim it explains everything. But, if they are mutually exclusive, as Heiser (and many others) claim, then I will prefer Jesus over Paul any day. I would very much prefer Heiser's version of it, who wouldn't, but the truth comes first, not convenience.
Are you talking about 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4? If so, it is the same thing Dr. Heiser is talking about. While he is utilizing very simple terms, this is necessary when witnessing to others. He is speaking to an audience and likely inferring they know all about John 3, Romans 3, Romans 10, 1 Corinthians 15, etc. Paul was an apostle and he preached the same Gospel message Jesus did.
No works? Unless You Bear Good Fruit You Will Be Cut Down And Thrown Into The Fire Matthew 7:19-23 Every tree that does not bear "good fruit" is cut down and thrown into the fire. So then, by their "fruit" you will recognize them. Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven, but only he who does the will of My Father in Heaven. Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name, and in Your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?’
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’ Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works (not the Law) prepared in advance as our way of life. It's not faith alone or grace alone or gifts alone, It's faith and... Romans 10:9,10 Believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead "and" Confess Jesus as Lord and you will be Saved. For with the heart you believe and are justified (made righteous) "and" with the Mouth, Confession is made unto Salvation. And Jesus said, you must be Born Again and we must forgive others or we will not be forgiven. Paul was sent to the Gentiles to teach about How to become Born Again but his message is only part of the Good News. 1st Corinthians 14:1 Pursue Love (Galatians 5:22,23) and Desire Spiritual Gifts (1st Corinthians 12-14) especially that you might prophecy. Paul should have emphasized more on Love but, he was called "after" Jesus was resurrected and ascended so, Paul did not hear everything that Jesus taught as recorded by John who walked with Him. John 15:1-8 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard. He cuts off every branch in Me that bears no fruit, and every branch that does bear fruit, He prunes to make it even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in Me, and I will remain in you. Just as no branch can bear fruit by itself unless it remains in the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. I am the vine and you are the branches. The one who remains in Me, and I in him, will bear much fruit. For apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in Me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers. Such branches are gathered up, thrown into the fire, and burned. If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to My Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, proving yourselves to be My disciples. John adds more to the Good News. 1st John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Jesus also said to pray to the Father. John 16:25-28 I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. An hour is coming when I will no longer speak to you this way, but will tell you plainly about the Father. In that day you will ask in My name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from God. I came from the Father and entered the world. In turn, I will leave the world and go to the Father.” Here is an example prayer: Almighty God and Father, I believe you raised Jesus from the dead. Please forgive me of all my sins in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen. Now thank God and His Son Jesus for hearing your prayer and believe that He will answer it. In my experience. It is possible to be filled with the Holy Spirit with a little prayer like that but, if not, do as Paul taught and desire the gifts of the Holy Spirit and ask to be filled in the name of Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen. Luke 11:13 If you who are evil (for none are righteous, no not one) know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit if you ask. Good Works that we are created to do. Matthew 25:31-46
3His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through the knowledge of Him who called us by His owna glory and excellence. 4Through these He has given us His precious and magnificent promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, now that you have escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires. 5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith virtue; and to virtue, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For if you possess these qualities and continue to grow in them, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9But whoever lacks these traits is nearsighted to the point of blindness, having forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins. 10Therefore, brothers, strive to make your calling and election sure. For if you practice these things you will never stumble, 11and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ 2-Peter 1 the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law Galatians 5:22-23 The works that are being discussed with regard to our salvation is the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer conforming them into the image of Christ. The works are a change of character, a change of being, which is produced by God Himself, not something that we physically do or don't do.
@@alexfrolov6635 What I notice is that there is no mention of confessing Jesus as your Lord. The working of the Holy Spirit that changes us into images of Christ is that we not only believe, from the heart that God raised Jesus from the dead but we should also confess Jesus as Lord. Romans 10:10 For with the heart you believe and are justified "and" with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation. And then ask God to send the Holy Spirit to be with you and in. John 14:17 in the name of the Lord Jesus. Amen. Luke 11:13 If (we) who are evil know how to give good gifts to our children, how much more will our Father in Heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask.
Eph 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Every member of the Godhead is involved in securing the believer. When a man hears the gospel and believes it, puts there trust in Jesus Christ and His payment. He is redeemed by the blood and eternally secure because he has now been put into the Body of Jesus Christ. Eph 1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
@@JesusSavesandRomeEnslaves When a man hears the gospel and believes it, puts there trust in Jesus Christ and His payment. He is redeemed by the blood and eternally secure Ok I would say yes to this as true, The problem is many if not most people would define that as just having to make a stated confession and NOT thee same as Abraham would when he believed God and it was counted as righteousness and he left his home and all he knew not knowing where he was going at 75 years old Unfortunately many who make that statement do not beive or trust Jesus enough nor believe Jesus can and will deliver them from ALL their sin, and they do not Obey his commands, or his call to full repentence
The word Gospel in the NT comes from the Greek words “euaggelizo” and “euaggelion”. They’re both defined as: good news, declare, bring good tidings etc. In Mark 1:14-15, Jesus declares good news. Good news of what? The good news of The Kingdom of God! THAT IS THE GOSPEL. It’s not a message about Christ, giving your heart to the Lord etc. Jesus was the “messenger” of the new covenant. He was sent to earth by the Father with a news announcement about a literal kingdom that would destroy and supplant every other kingdom, government etc. that has ever existed on this earth (Daniel 2:44; Revelation 11:15). Mr. Heiser doesn’t seem to really grasp that the Kingdom of God is a literal kingdom. Jesus Christ was born to be a King(John 18:36-37). This Kingdom(of God) will be set up on the earth at Christ’s return(see Daniel 2:44; Revelation 11:15). Christ’s sacrifice on the stake of crucifixion didn’t “save” anyone. His perfect sacrifice paid the death penalty for everyone who has ever or will ever live if they 1) Repent of their sins 2) Are baptized as an outward expression of faith for Christ’s sacrifice of death in their stead. Then and only then will they receive the Holy Spirit which makes them possession of Jesus Christ(1 Corinthians 6:20). Also- the Bible contradicts the doctrine of once saved always saved in numerous passages. Briefly(Hebrews 6:4-6; 2 Peter 1:8-10). In Matthew 24:13 Christ states that only those who “endure to the end” shall be saved. There are many more contradictions of scripture in this video. God tells the Christian through Paul to “prove all things, hold fast that which is good”(1 Thessalonians 5:21), this means proving all doctrines from the scriptures and not by listening to men who preach contrary to them.
Jesus preached the gospel to the pharisees...and it seems believing that Jesus is God in the flesh is a necessary component to salvation--> John 8:24 KJV - I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. John backs this assertion up in the text--> 1 john 2: 22¶Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. 23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
You didn't get saved, you got converted. Being saved, means salvation, and none are yet saved according to Christ. Mt. 10:22, 24:13. The gospel. You didn't proclaim it. Salvation, is a teaching, message, NOT THE GOSPEL. Please read a Bible. The gospel, DIRECTLY FROM CHRIST is: Mark 1:14-15. I'm so tired of the teaching/ message of salvation being called the gospel. IT IS NOT. FACT: Christ will NOT return until HIS gospel is preached. Another gospel, the current gospel of most, is a curse, even though salvation is true. That's how Satan works. Throw on a little truth, to make sure the true gospel is not told or proclaimed.
Belief in the gospel is what being Saved (i.e. Salvation) is all about - read 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4 - it is a one-off event - saved for all time - ownership transferred - see also Ephesians 1: 13-14 sealed by the Holy Spirit 1 Cor. 15: 1-4... Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: Eph. 1: 13-14... In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
@C777plus0 Small problem. 1Cor. 15:1 IS PAST TENSE. HEHAD already preached the gospel, then, repeated the message of salvation. Read Acts 28:31. It's Paul. It's Paul preaching the gospel FIRST, and matters concerning Christ second. So, 1Cor. 15:1 is past tense. If you can't read for yourself, direct from Christ, what the gospel is, you must be Sunday Christianity, and you ain't gotta go all the way to 1Cor. for the gospel bless your heart. One gospel. Mt. 24:14, gospel. Mk. 1:14-15, if HE said it's the gospel, it's the gospel. It's in the Lord's prayer for Christ's sake. Thy kingdom come. Now, read 1Cor. 15:23-24. Gospel fulfilled, kingdom delivered up. SIMPLE,like the simple gospel. Calling the message/teaching of salvation the gospel, is ANOTHER gospel, and thee be cursed. The gospel of your salvation, is the gospel according to your savior, or he is a liar. It's not my fault the vast majority of Sunday professing Christianity thinks the gospel is the message of salvation. Ipse dixit. He himself said it, and HE is the truth, not what someone else thinks is the truth. Mk. 1:14-15. You can't erase what Christ himself declared, bless your mortal heart.
I don't think you can be saved if you believe that Jesus wasn't God. JWs and Mormons do not. You can't be saved with a false Jesus Also, if you're Catholic, you definitely have to watch out for the "merit" thing Heiser was talking about. Your baptism, confession, and communion do not save you, if you think they do you have to ask the question if you _really_ trust Jesus or if you're trying to work your way to heaven.
Yes I agree on the catholic observances like trusting a pope, or confession to a priest and other many other things, but the bible does teach baptism is a part of salvation Furthermore and when I hear people say they trust in Jesus for salvation I am tempted to say Amen, but more times then not I find I need to ask what do you mean by that Because most will want to say they are the children of Abraham but do not believe Jesus when he said if you are the children of Abraham you would do the works of Abraham
@@appointedaday priestly Confession is very biblical. Apostolic succession too. And baptismal regeneration. I agree, it’s not “working your way to heaven” it’s cooperating with Gods grace
@@DF-ei9kc Not confession in privet to a priest who has been ordained by God and has a supernatural power direct from the Pope (who incidentally is in place of Christ on earth according to their Doctrine) forgive you HUGE difrence
He was an impressive man but I think he often lands wrong. I understand him challenging doctrines favored by denominations which may not be routed in early Christianity, but he’s wrong on this even if he’s doing that. Scrap away Catholic and Protestant finer points, and the Bible itself teaches that the gospel demands that you must FOLLOW Christ and it’s that which enters you into his grace and it’s grace that also gives you the ability to do that. You aim to live perfect for him but that in itself does not save you - it’s his perfection that does. But to experience “what he did for you” you have to be following him. That is a very simple clear teaching of the Bible but the one thing the churches can’t get right. Faith is a posture not a belief system. I will follow Christ and where I slip up, he’s paid for me.
@ read what I said. Follow him all the way but where you miss it or don’t live up to it he has paid for you. Very simple concept and all over the Bible. You’re stuck in twisted later Christianity which the church can’t seem to makes it’s way out of now
@januddin8068 Read what you said yourself. Your original post says the way to enter into his grace is by following Him. No matter how you slice it, you are teaching salvation by works. My question stands: How closely and faithfully do you have to follow Him in order to have eternal life?
@ so let me get this right. Are you saying you don’t need to follow Christ in order to be saved? Because if you are you will hear the sound “I did not know you” and you will deserve it. I speak like Tunis because the theological quagmire you are happy to languish in is the same one you’re creating for other little ones. Be it on your head. It really is as serious as that. All you need to do is believe in a belief system right? Nothing of what Jesus commanded you to do? And yes it’s still his payment that will ultimately save you. But you must posture to him and with him and this is by obedience. Take it or leave it. Your belief is a total heresy
@januddin8068 I guess you're waiting to find out if you will truly be saved huh? I already know I am and therefore I follow my Lord and Savior. I follow him out of gratefulness and thankfulness and the promise of eternal life that he's already assured me of. You sound extremely self-righteous.
its such a shame, a man of such knowledge and such study can fall into the same false doctrine that began though the sinner, drunkard, antisemite, and murderer Luther , this is the last days doctrine of demons and the wide road It was never known before that and furthermore anathema to the Prenicine church, No we do not earn salvation but the early church knew it was just as the bible says its synergistic, We need to respond to the call, we do Nothing to be put on the vine in john 15 but does it say we continue to do nothing?? No it say we must abide in him, and keep his commandments, Yes its by his power but we need to walk in it And the bible is clear we can choose to not walk in it and IF IF IF IF we do not we will be cut off and burned in the fire
Small problem. Mt. 12:31 The forgiveness of God is bigger than Christianity. Even the thief on the cross was given a pass immediately, no repentance, confession, or baptism. Mk. 3:28 Lk. 12:10 It's not my fault.
@@eltonron1558 I’m sorry there was a confession and repentance Remember, he was mocking like the other guy, and he turned around and recognized that he was in sin That Jesus was, he was without sin
@@eltonron1558 and as far as baptism, when Jesus was asked about sitting on his right side in his left side in the kingdom His answer was, are you able to be baptized in the baptism that I will be baptized in All of the pre-nicene church understood that the thief was baptized in the baptism of Jesus spoke of The baptism of blood Don’t forget, the flood was a picture of baptism, as well as the parting of the seas As well as the crossing of the Jordan
@appointedaday-ur6st That's funny. In the only two passages concerning the thief on the cross, they contradict. One has Jesus being mocked, the other one person asks to be in the kingdom. You don't have to be a Christian to be forgiven or eligible for salvation, as Jesus said so. Mt. 12:31 Mk. 3:28 Lk. 12:10 It's not my fault the forgiveness of God is bigger than Christianity.
@appointedaday-ur6st There was no confession or repentance, by the passage, only asking to be in the kingdom. The confession and repentance, was in your head that he repented and confessed.
So, Mike it’s saving faith to believe in the Mormon jesus as the spirit brother of the devil and a former man that experienced deification? In what or whom are you saying is the object of faith? Sorry but that’s not the true Gospel and your advice was wrong. Yes it’s not by human merit but you missed telling the truth about the true Jesus, and God’s redemption. Very sad and shameful of Michael Heiser.
Yes it is. Believing that all your hopes for Salvation are in the works of Christ on the cross and that you can bring nothing to the table to earn Salvation is the gospel in a nutshell. God bless

New Covenant Whole Gospel:
Who is now the King of Israel in John 1:49?
Jer 31:31 Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
Jer 31:32 Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by husband unto them, saith the LORD:
Jer 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.
(John 1:49, Acts 2:36)
We are not come to Mount Sinai in Hebrews 12:18.

No works? Unless You Bear Good Fruit You Will Be Cut Down And Thrown Into The Fire
Matthew 7:19-23
Every tree that does not bear "good fruit" is cut down and thrown into the fire.
Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you workers of lawlessness!’
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works (not the Law) prepared in advance as our way of life.
It's not faith alone or grace alone or gifts alone, It's faith and...
Romans 10:9,10
Believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead "and" Confess Jesus as Lord and you will be Saved.
John 15:1-8
“I am the true vine, and My Father is the keeper of the vineyard.
John 16:25-28
I have spoken these things to you in figures of speech. In turn, I will leave the world and go to the Father.”
Here is an example prayer: Almighty God and Father, I believe you raised Jesus from the dead.
For if you practice these things you will never stumble, 11and you will receive a lavish reception into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
2-Peter 1
the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law
Galatians 5:22-23
The works that are being discussed with regard to our salvation is the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer conforming them into the image of Christ.
The works are a change of character, a change of being, which is produced by God Himself, not something that we physically do or don't do.

What I notice is that there is no mention of confessing Jesus as your Lord.
Eph 1:14
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
@@JesusSavesandRomeEnslaves yes. When people refuse to confess Jesus as Lord, it grieves the Holy Spirit.
@@JesusSavesandRomeEnslaves When a man hears the gospel and believes it, puts there trust in Jesus Christ and His payment. He is redeemed by the blood and eternally secure
Ok I would say yes to this as true, The problem is many if not most people would define that as just having to make a stated confession and NOT thee same as Abraham would when he believed God and it was counted as righteousness and he left his home and all he knew not knowing where he was going at 75 years old
Unfortunately many who make that statement do not beive or trust Jesus enough nor believe Jesus can and will deliver them from ALL their sin, and they do not Obey his commands, or his call to full repentence
No beef with this at all.. Now I gotta go back and see why I didn’t like this fellow..
Jesus preached the gospel to the pharisees...and it seems believing that Jesus is God in the flesh is a necessary component to salvation-->
John 8:24 KJV - I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.
John backs this assertion up in the text--> 1 john 2:
22¶Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
You didn't get saved, you got converted. Being saved, means salvation, and none are yet saved according to Christ.
Mt. 10:22, 24:13.
The gospel. You didn't proclaim it. Salvation, is a teaching, message, NOT THE GOSPEL. Please read a Bible. The gospel, DIRECTLY FROM CHRIST is:
Mark 1:14-15.
Salvation) is all about - read 1 Corinthians 15: 1-4 - it is a one-off event - saved for all time - ownership transferred - see also Ephesians 1: 13-14 sealed by the Holy Spirit
1 Cor. 15: 1-4...
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Eph. 1: 13-14...
In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
@C777plus0 Small problem.
You can't be saved with a false Jesus
Also, if you're Catholic, you definitely have to watch out for the "merit" thing Heiser was talking about. Your baptism, confession, and communion do not save you, if you think they do you have to ask the question if you _really_ trust Jesus or if you're trying to work your way to heaven.
You seem to misunderstand Catholic doctrine, the sacraments given by God dispense Grace to us and make us partakers
Yes I agree on the catholic observances like trusting a pope, or confession to a priest and other many other things, but the bible does teach baptism is a part of salvation
Furthermore and when I hear people say they trust in Jesus for salvation I am tempted to say Amen, but more times then not I find I need to ask what do you mean by that
Because most will want to say they are the children of Abraham but do not believe Jesus when he said if you are the children of Abraham you would do the works of Abraham

@januddun,...And we must follow him how closely and how faithfully?? Sounds like you are still basing your salvation on performance.
You sound extremely self-righteous.
its such a shame, a man of such knowledge and such study can fall into the same false doctrine that began though the sinner, drunkard, antisemite, and murderer Luther , this is the last days doctrine of demons and the wide road
It was never known before that and furthermore anathema to the Prenicine church, No we do not earn salvation but the early church knew it was just as the bible says its synergistic, We need to respond to the call, we do Nothing to be put on the vine in john 15 but does it say we continue to do nothing??
No it say we must abide in him, and keep his commandments, Yes its by his power but we need to walk in it
And the bible is clear we can choose to not walk in it and IF IF IF IF we do not we will be cut off and burned in the fire
Small problem. Mt. 12:31
The forgiveness of God is bigger than Christianity.
Even the thief on the cross was given a pass immediately, no repentance, confession, or baptism.

The baptism of blood
Don’t forget, the flood was a picture of baptism, as well as the parting of the seas
As well as the crossing of the Jordan
@appointedaday-ur6st That's funny. In the only two passages concerning the thief on the cross, they contradict. One has Jesus being mocked, the other one person asks to be in the kingdom. You don't have to be a Christian to be forgiven or eligible for salvation, as Jesus said so.
Mt. 12:31
Mk. 3:28
Lk. 12:10
It's not my fault the forgiveness of God is bigger than Christianity.
This is not the gospel that saves people.
Yes it is. Believing that all your hopes for Salvation are in the works of Christ on the cross and that you can bring nothing to the table to earn Salvation is the gospel in a nutshell. God bless
This is nonsense and refuted by scripture in more ways than one.
