White Knight is a Batman story that desperately needed to be told. Anything that's been around as long as Batman has needs to acknowledge its troupes and criticisms and White Knight does in a brilliant way.
There are some problems and tropes that it overdrama-tizes, even some that don’t feel right, but yeah it is

Batman and Robin Eternal
Just finished the third book and I really love the sean murphy batverse. Dude is still cooking.
This book has a nice mix of cool original ideas and throwbacks. The art is also great, but Tiffany pointing out those inconsistencies got hilarious reactions from Sal.
Hot Damn. A live event, on Super Bowl Sunday. This is sweet.
Imagine a Batman WK movie, but animated in the style of Into the Spider-verse!!!!!!

18:23 The Harley reversal was a really fun moment... so fun I fear it'll appear in every elseworlds-style story featuring characters who've changed their looks over time.
I feel sorry for the writer that tries that idea with Hawkman and Hawkgirl… well not so much for their looks, more to try and stitch the multiple origin stories together.

That whole "yeah, but you're the Joker" gag makes me think of Ted Bundy trying to convince the world of the exact same thing when he was in court!! You guys rock! I want to thank you for saving me the hassle of reading this. I've been reading Bats since 86 and this story idea is awesome, but just not something I've been waiting to read. I loved watching you guys doing this probably more than I would actually reading it. Til next time, LOVED IT!!

Hey, guys. Great episode as always. I’m really looking forward to the sequel to this too. The pink robe is actually a reference to the Berlin Batman story by Paul Pope. Also, if I remember correctly, I think it’s specifically mentioned early on that this Joker never actually killed anyone like BTAS Joker, but I don’t really remember. It’s why Batman says the “he wanted to be a lot worse.” to Harley.
Small thing, but it is implied that the Joker in this universe doesn't even have a body count, robbery and property damage being his worst crimes. The closest he came to killing someone was Jason, and as revealed later, he didn't. The Joker's still a criminal, but it fits better into the narrative that Batman was being excessive when you consider that this version was just a glorified public nuisance at best.
Tbh I was kinda shook about Jason giving up Bruce and then leaving and not coming back that was actually a really cool twist I feel

and at the risk of being all “well actually” they never in the comic outright state that joker is a murder they even say that the only crime the GCPD has ever been able to convict him on is armed robbery which dose help with the believability of the public being on his side and letting him go free
But again love the episode and you channel looking forward to more bat issues.

As of 2023 there are 2 sequel stories and 3 spinoff stories in the "MurphyVerse", any chance we'll see Curse of the White Knight soon?

What's great about this series (to me) is that it's almost like a modern day version of another Batman series called "Going Sane", though it was originally a way to show what Joker would do if he had successfully killed Batman (or just thinks he did). B)

I, especially with what took place here and what I expected to see in the sequel- was SO not expecting the sequel to be _"What if Knightfall kicked ass and was better in EVERY way?"_
The book is literally telling you that you just have to ignore the fact that Jack Napier was and still is "The Joker" and everything makes sense. Jack Napier/Joker did a "Ted Bundy" and actually succeeded. Amazing Elseworlds Book but just don't think about it too much lol
They explain it better in the book, like Joker hasn’t killed anyone and all the crimes couldn’t really stick cause it was Batman bringing him in all the time, not the GCPD. But Sal needs to fit this into one video so he couldn’t go though all the little details, understandably. The book explains a lot of things that Sal left out. Whether or not its explained well is another thing, but it does give you explanations for most things which is better than a lot of comics do. Either way Sal did an amazing job on this and it’s a super awesome first Bat Issues!
Herman Pinedo they really don’t. The only thing they mention is that the cops couldn’t find any evidence other than armed robbery which is total horse shit.

Now, I hate to be this guy, and correct me if I'm wrong, but iirc, the reason Jack wasn't hit for all the supposed murders he must have committed was because he was criminally insane. It is presumably the reason he is in Arkham instead of Blackgate.
It isn't that those murders are forgotten, but his sentence was to go to Arkham. He's already paid for those crimes.
Man, this is just not my week for catching the show on release day. Gosh darn exams. Another one to the list!

That was unexpectedly awesome. I thought this was coming on Wednesday.
I stopped watching this early on and read the book because I couldn’t believe that everyone would turn on Batman and side with the Joker so easily. I fucking hated this book so much, it’s a fanfic and a very bad one at that.
First off, this was a great first episode and idea for a new show. (I actually remember you mentioning it offhandedly a while back, and I'm glad you did it.)
But, one thing this show illustrated to is that in a weird way, I think the couch is almost like a character unto itself on Back Issues. Because, for all intents and purposes, this was an episode of Back Issues, just not on the couch. And it felt pretty different - to me anyway. Not in a good or bad way, just different. And I think it's just because you guys weren't on the couch.
So would Dark Nights Metal fall into Bat issues or Back issues? Either way would definitely love to see you guys cover that one, lots of cool alternate Bat-people to explore and a fun, crazy story.

I really like this book, and all the character designs, but I really hate how batgirl (in current continuity) has that mask. Especially when it’s drawn more realistically, it doesn’t hide her face.

The joker doesn’t have the “power” to visually turn into the joker. I think him “turning” is more a visual cue to the reader of which part of him you are talking to (since he clearly has dissociative identity disorder). So it’s not necessarily a power he has, but just a really cool way to show/tell the reader who is essentially in control at that moment.

A modern classic. It is a love letter to Batman's many incarnations and history. It made good use of elements Joel Schumacher's Batman and Robin. I loved Curse of the White Knight as well, not a fan of Beyond the White Knight though. It felt like Bruce was out of character and did things he'd never do. Keep up the funny and insightful reviews guys.

I like the implication that Bruce wouldn't know what Harleen would look like without her outfit; like there's a lot of blonde, blue eyed women with a thick New Jersey accent roaming around Gotham on any given day.
There might be, and they usually come across Zsasz, Hatter, or someone else from the gallery.

I read it digitally and was gonna pick the hardback up at a store but decided not to. This makes me wanna go back and collect it.
I feel this book discusses a lot of the things that I always think about, like brutality, like which is a better way to make the world better (using money to play hero or support good gov candidates and policies), like how does Gotham work realistically as a city in the US system.
