Best part is there are no seagulls attacking you for the fried!! Thank you for the recipe I’m a native of Delaware living in New Jersey and there is no THRASERS!!!
The seagulls are the worst!! And thanks for watching! The only thing I messed up on is they use apple cider vinegar and not malt lol but both are good lol
Thrasher's uses regular table salt, not kosher, they literally punch holes with an old ice pick into the tops of card board salt containers you get at the grocery store and Apple Cider Vinegar, not Malt, Cider vinegar has more of a bite.
I don't get to the OC Boardwalk often anymore like I did as a kid when I lived in MD but its the first place I go to eat when I DO go there now. Best fries EVER!! I lived in the College Park area growing up in the 50's and 60's and even later but we were always going there then. Several times each summer. Thrashers is not open during the off season as I recall. Its at the southern end of the boardwalk and you can smell it from blocks away so its hard to miss. Don't even think of asking for ketchup unless you want to be run off by the employees AND the other customers. Malt vinegar and salt is all you get. And its delicious. And I don't even like malt vinegar or ANY vinegar for that matter. You won't regret going there if you are ever in Ocean City Md. And they don't sell anything else except drinks. JUST FRIES. Some don't like the taste of the vinegar so don't use it. The employees don't put it on YOU do.
I'm strongly on team malt-vinegar, And Heinz is the real stuff. Curiously, Thrashers sticks to apple-cider vinegar. Honestly, I don't blame 'em. Cider vinegar is almost as good, and for whatever crazy reason it's massively cheaper. The vinegar tradition comes from England, and I hear that they have tons of "chip shops" that use some weird stuff that legally isn't considered actual vinegar all for the sake of cutting costs. That blows my mind.
I agree! Honestly when I made the video I didn’t even realize they used apple cider vinegar. I just assumed it was malt vinegar from all the pubs I’ve been to where they give you malt vinegar with fish and chips. That’s wild tho about the chip shops. I wonder what they actually use if it’s not real vinegar!
Daym! Lookin lean and mean :) Never had fries on the boardwalk, but a lot of "Tivoli" fries, in Denmark way back. Nothing like a salty snack in summer. The malt vinegar surprised me.
Haha thanks I’ve been working on it! Isn’t Tivoli like a theme park? That’s awesome and the malt vinegar was weird to me at first until you try it and Now I wouldn’t have them any other way lol
These look amazing!! I miss boardwalk fries!! Especially with the vinegar!! Also...is that ketchup from Chick-fil-A? Cause... I might be guilty of having those too! 😂
I grew up in OC. From what I've heard over the years there's a first step even before you cut the potatoes. I can't say this online but if you're smart enough you can figure it out. Step includes filtered, cold seawater...
@BrianSkibicki the workers don't know the process. They only operate the deep fryers from frozen fries. The process has already been completed before it gets to the store. If you're lucky you might find a commissary worker but even then good luck. The company plays their cards very close to the chest. There's a reason they've been able to keep their secret since the 1930s despite hundreds of thousands of seasonal workers passing through since. Lol
@@BrianSkibicki i've spoken to workers at three different stores, and i even called a few times to get the recipe down. just for fun, i will let you figure it out and hope you do an updated video. you are very very close. let me know what you come up with and i will let you know if it is the same recipe that i know of. good luck.
Thrashers is probably paying 20 cents a lb. for potatoes (average small order) and most people can use/waste far more then that in ketchup, so it's genius marketing to not provide "and" discourage the use of ketchup on its fries. Malt Vinegar cost a fraction of what ketchup cost plus far less is used/or wasted. These fries are legendary even to us West Coasters. I bet they would be great with Old Bay seasoning, but better with Ketchup. I actually would not pay 6 dollars for a pound of fries if I couldn't have ketchup!
And they still sell them for 10 bucks haha that’s a smart move to discourage ketchup if that’s their reasoning and I can’t believe I didn’t try old bay on the fries! I’m slackin! And I always keep packs of ketchup around for that exact reason haha
You can delete this, but I would like to recommend a YT creator you would probably like, his live streams are legendary with lots of $$$ in Super chats. He hit 100,000 yesterday. His content is almost all Vegas, but he reminds me of you, just far less food and way more hotel content. His channel name is "Pompsie" I moderate his lives ( a total chore with 6000 viewers sometimes) so if you comment during a live and I see it I will give your channel a shout out. Good luck growing this great content and channel Brian.
Whaaaat that sounds awesome I’ll definitely go and check it out! Thanks man I appreciate you helping me out is there a normal time this person does live streams?
@@BrianSkibicki Friday and or Saturdays but times and days vary. They are in Italy till the end of the month but I am expecting a live from there. Keep working your channel.
There is a little sandwich shop across from Thrashers that will let you use their tables if you order something nn their shop mas well. And THEY have ketchup. Thrashers has NO tables. I urge you to try the MALT vinegar though. No other kind works believe me.

Caught my attention as soon as you referenced Thrashers
The only thing I got wrong was the type of vinegar lol
You made my mouth water, thanks for breaking the code

Thrashers definitely has the best fries around.

Damn! I just looked it up and you’re right. It is apple cider vinegar! Good catch!!
“We’re at the beach” 😂😂 loved this video lol
Your missing the key ingredient old bay seasoning. However great video 👍🏾
There's no old bay seasoning on Thrashers fries. Old bay has never been a thing on fries.
Thrashers fries and the frozen custard from Kohr Brothers are automatic for me whenever I go.
You are the real homie
And the salt water taffy❤❤

Where's dat Old Bay though, hun?
Haha you’re right! I should have added that for sure
Thrashers also brines the potatos. and its Apple Cider Vinegar not malt
