I feel like usually (obviously not always), ten minutes when it comes to recipes either means 1) ten minutes of prep and then passive cooking (like in an oven, crock pot, instapot etc) or 2) ten minutes of active cooking on a stove after prepping ingredients. (Yes, I realize they are kind of opposite scenarios, but I've heard of "ten minute recipes" both ways.)
David! It would be amazing if you could try some global recipes! Maybe even like a series. Every country has their variation of noodles, dumplings, donuts, etc. maybe you could choose a few countries and compare the versions? Great work by the way! Always entertaining. 😌
I think this is a great idea, but David would get a shit ton of hate for sure. Making traditional meals is always going to result in a bunch of people hating on the creator for not making it perfectly. But as a Hungarian with Hungary’s amazing traditional meals, I would love to see David try some.
If I remember correctly, most recipe writers don't include prep time in the recipe time. They usually start counting once the veggies are chopped and the water is boiling. That's probably why some of these were so off.
I cook a lot of recipes I find online, and most include a prep time that is separate from the cook time, and most of those prep times are still wildly off. I've come up with a couple explanations. Either they don't expect you to mise en place, and design it so you're cutting while other things are boiling or frying. Or they think you start your prep time with the meat on its cutting board, pre salted and patted dry, all of the vegetables peeled and on the counter, ready for chopping, and think you'll do no hand washing in between steps.
I think for the cola wings it might have worked well to re heat the wings in the pan and then taken them out to make the sauce, then coat in the sauce.
Gordan's pasta was originally used in a 20-minute recipe video; the "10-minute" clip they used was recycled from there and probably without the editor considering just how big of a time difference it was.
I make Gordon’s pasta dish quite often and I love it. It’s so easy to put together and is super satisfying. Even though it’s definitely not 10 minutes it’s definitely a quick dish to put together.
Wouldn’t it be assumed as 10mins cook time not including the prep time as well? Everyone’s prep time is different depending on how long they want to take. But with cooking there’s a certain window it can be cooked in before it gets overcooked
Interesting preparation for the steak; I couldn't imagine using any of the ingredients except butter! 30 minute or less recipes seem much more realistic for an average meal prep time...
That's because the clip in the 10-minute video was reused from a video about 20-minute recipes. Someone put it in the 10-minute one without considering the time difference.
Would love to see you try some healthier recipes. So many low cal/low fat options just don’t taste all that good and it would be awesome if you could help us find some decent ones. Love the channel!
Cola wings are delicous and really easy to make. Also, disturbingly muted in sweetness considering the sauce is literally cola syrup. Makes me wonder how much sugar they shove into conventional barbecue sauce... I sear my chicken first to render out some of the fat, then add in aromatics (or just garlic and green onions lol) some whole spices and the can of coke.
A lot of "pre measured" dish videos seem a little unfair. I know Joshua talked about this a while ago lol. Forreal though, pre-planning for a meal is like 80% of the work.
Hey David, is there anyway you could create some videos covering the topic of Make Ahead and then Freeze for Convenience meal prep ideas? I am really interested in ways to spend say an entire weekend prepping and freezing portioned proteins etc and then having a simple dinner by just grabbing parts from the freezer. I would love to see your take on this type of prep. Thanks for the amazing content otherwise.
Oooh you included NACS, that's the food channel I am most recently into. Such flavourful recipes (his sandwiches from his old food truck are goddamn FIRE) and I like how unpretentious the dude is.
A broth like soup made with 90% discounted veggies And 10% sauces like gochugang, soy sauce, fish sauce, tomato sauce(yes it works). Is really good and good for your wallet
David, please, try some healthy food options for every day. All the time I see the recepies I get skeptical about both the taste and the practicality of them, and wish someone tries
Yeah, specially the "this pasta sauce has a gazillion hidden veggies", some weird salads (and the ones with half of things fried doesn't count) and the air fryer chicken
I'd be interested in seeing you exploring some options that balance affordable meals that still feel like they're a bit fancy or making a bit of an effort.
next time if you want to emulsify any souce you can use corn starch slurry just fifty fifty water and corn starch mixed cold and added slowly to the souce.
Chefs lying about cooking time is almost as annoying as them pulling "budget meal" prices out of their as$. Like "I've bought this pack of 40 oysters from the fish market that's 50 miles away from my house but we're only using one oyster today and not accounting for fuel so this meal is only $5.00" like bruh
Almost all of these sub ''10 minute'' recipes dont count the time it takes to cut and prep stuff into the actual 10 minutes and the 10 minutes only counts the active cooking time majority of the time.
I don't think I've ever made a "10 minute meal" that requires the use of a chef's knife to be honest.... for most common people, our knife skills aren't great, lol. I spend at least 5 mins dicing an onion, haha.
okay for the steak, for sure the seven minutes is just the cook time. does not include prep, seasoning, preheating the pan, or resting the steak afterward. three minutes one side, three minutes the other side, then one minute for basting to bring it up to temp. that's the standard cooktime on a cast iron, so i'm pretty sure that's what he's talking about with the whole seven minute thing.
Hi David. Love your videos. Use them as reference to choose the best recipes for cakes and cookies. This is to ask you if you could please start trying healthy recipes from all channels. This would be a hit I suppose!!
These chefs be like "once you prepared everything for like 30-45 mins it only takes 1 minute!!" Lmfao yeah no shit that's how every single recipe in the world works
The first one I think is "If done from cold noodles" to be one minute. Just something I know about Asian families they intentionally make too much starch like rice or noodles so you can eat in under five minutes. even if you are a small child.
I’m convinced these kind of quick/“__ minute” recipes are written with the assumption that you have a partner at home to basically sous-chef for you by chopping vegetables/mising en place. That, or they only count the time that you’re literally cooking, ie. applying heat to the food. Which is bullshit, because the instructions sure do include a whole lot that isn’t just applying heat to the food so why should that not be counted.. It really does piss me off when a “10 minute” recipe turns into well over half an hour. Even if the food tastes amazing, I don’t really trust someone that’s willing to be deceptive to get engagement/sell cookbooks or whatever.
I think if you're Gordon Ramsay, Eric Ripert, or someone like that, 10 minutes would probably be a conservative estimate. For the rest of us mortals, 25-minutes or longer.
10 min dinner is me eating a bag of tostitos in 10 minutes for dinner
Are you sure you don't mean single-handedly destroying an entire pan of lasagna before Jon catches you? 🤭🧡🖤
We all been there buddy
@@glickspicks1969 that too

do you know Sorted Food? they have a similar series going, it's really entertaining!
I could’ve sworn David already did something like this with dumplings lmao I might just be making that up though
beryl shereshewsky does a bunch of these sort of vids! she’s great
I think this is a great idea, but David would get a shit ton of hate for sure. Making traditional meals is always going to result in a bunch of people hating on the creator for not making it perfectly. But as a Hungarian with Hungary’s amazing traditional meals, I would love to see David try some.
Is this a series?? I'd love a Rapid Recipes series

The oil joke was so unexpected yet had me rolling laughing.
saaaame

I would really love to see a pantry/sauce tour. I imagine you have a collection from all the recipes you have attempted 😮
yes!!!
I make Gordon’s pasta dish quite often and I love it. It’s so easy to put together and is super satisfying. Even though it’s definitely not 10 minutes it’s definitely a quick dish to put together.
YOUR VIDEOS ARE LITERALLY THE BEST!!! Do a review of your old recipes on this channel please!!!!

David we deserve more than 11 minutes of you! Your videos are so fun the time goes by so fast 😢
Interesting preparation for the steak; I couldn't imagine using any of the ingredients except butter! 30 minute or less recipes seem much more realistic for an average meal prep time...
Looks like even Gordon couldn't do it in 10. He calls it a 20 min dish at the end lol.
That's because the clip in the 10-minute video was reused from a video about 20-minute recipes. Someone put it in the 10-minute one without considering the time difference.
BBQ sides as a video? Pasta salad, potato salad, corn, veg etc?
ohhh i like this one
Yes! More incredible videos and recipes from the one and only David! Love ya man!❤❤😊😊
Much

That oil comment was gold. I laughed for a good while on that one.
The noods were meant to be leftovers. I would imagine with garlic and scallion, it would be like a 3 minute dish
David over here proving to husbands of the world that date nights CAN BE DONE!
*me as a disabled person who sees a “10 minute recipe”*
Well this is going to take an hour
How long did the last recipe take to cook? I don't remember hearing a time.
8-10 mins to cook the steak, roughly another 10-12 for everything else
If you want to test more quick and easy meals, maybe try some recipes from Sorted Food?

Yeah, specially the "this pasta sauce has a gazillion hidden veggies", some weird salads (and the ones with half of things fried doesn't count) and the air fryer chicken
Carla music's mushroom pasta is sooooo good! David you should definitely try it
I am going to catch some flack but if you had reheated the wings in an air fryer and then made the sauce separately it might have worked better.
I'd be interested in seeing you exploring some options that balance affordable meals that still feel like they're a bit fancy or making a bit of an effort.
David! Please try the Karaage from Cooking with Dog. Her recipe is amazing.
The usually mean just cook time not prep time, I personally don't include prep time
Oh man you gotta wash those leeks! They grow in layers and all the dirt gets stuck in there!
I thought the same thing! 😮
I did off camera!
@David Seymour ahaha good! I was worried you got some nice crunching in there xD awesome video man, keep up the awesome work 👏
next time if you want to emulsify any souce you can use corn starch slurry just fifty fifty water and corn starch mixed cold and added slowly to the souce.
Hey David, have you ever tried Puerto Rican food on the channel? 😊
How long was the steak though?
For the cola wings, instead of fried wings, you should use regular panfried or grilled wings.
Whisk in a tablespoon of Dijon mustard to bring that steak sauce together.
On the sauce for the steak, next time drop in some nice mustard and hit it with an immersion blender real quick.
Almost all of these sub ''10 minute'' recipes dont count the time it takes to cut and prep stuff into the actual 10 minutes and the 10 minutes only counts the active cooking time majority of the time.
Prep time never counts😂
Please post more often, or longer videos. I’m greedy an want more content 😢You have an infectious personality.

Most recipes dont count the prep time into the cooking time.
@@animeholictops1225 I get that, but it's deceptive to call it a "10 minute recipe" if it takes like 10 minutes to even prep all the vegetables.

Thank you for this new video 🥰 btw I hate tarragon 💀 everytime a recipe ask for it I skip
If you ever have a sauce like that steak a little cornstarch slurry will thicken that up lickity split.
Hi David. Love your videos. Use them as reference to choose the best recipes for cakes and cookies. This is to ask you if you could please start trying healthy recipes from all channels. This would be a hit I suppose!!
the unexpected oil joke made me cackle
Good stuff takes time. Even the video was over 10 minutes... (^;
What are those skillets that you are using in Gordon's dish?
What are oven ready lasagna sheets? All lasagna sheets are oven read
David!! it’d be so much fun if you could try venezuelan food🥰
You should try Surinamese bami, nasi or roti!!!
David looks like a 10 minute snack too
You could cook any steak in well under 10 minutes if you like it raw.
Can you try Daphne Oz Choc chip cookies . She claims hers are the best ! Please 🙏🏼

Try some Trinidadian recipes pleeeeeeeease.😭😭😭😭😭
Love you loads
Most of these just say the pure cooking time not the prep
try charlie anderson’s nyc pizza recipe
You're missing out on Guga.
Ten minutes is long enough to figure out someone lied about the cooking time.
you can still make cola wings in 10-15 mins? you just gotta score the wings.
The video not being 10 mins long kind of miffed me
I’m convinced these kind of quick/“__ minute” recipes are written with the assumption that you have a partner at home to basically sous-chef for you by chopping vegetables/mising en place. you dont age....vampire for sure
Another thing you didn't keep in mind was that the chef's used direct heat which cook food faster instead of your cook top!
Come on, steak purist. That sucker is medium well.
*note to self: Don't cook with tarragon. Black licorice is not a flavor I enjoy.
I think if you're Gordon Ramsay, Eric Ripert, or someone like that, 10 minutes would probably be a conservative estimate. For the rest of us mortals, 25-minutes or longer.
Wait!! Is the outro song your bf????
Guga is the master of the clickbait title. Always full of hyperbole, rarely delivers

A steak should never take you more than 10 minutes to cook.
i dont want any of these
WTF IS HE WEARING!?
This channel was cool until your boyfriend came on 🤮
