A 4-month-old pregnant lady would be a pretty unique chef...
😂😂😂😂
The cradle hunting has gotten intense
As a soup lover (especially noodle soup) the lasagne soup is such an easy and lazy but great recipe to cook when you don't have the patience to wait for it to bake in the oven while all the great aromas are just clouding your kitchen and you just get even hungrier bc for the soup you can still snack on it while it cooks
I've accidently made it recently when I realized I haven't bought a new glass baking dish. Came out tasting pretty much like lasagne just less steps.
there's a Garfield comic strip where John makes cream of lasagna soup and I've always wondered what it was like
@@roygolan99 I mean it does taste like a normal lasagne in my opinion. but i think if you want that cheese crunch that you normally would have if you would make it in the oven, then maybe you could grill the cheese like for the cheese pickle blanket and then add them to the soup like croutons
@@fcded_dayor do what you would do for a french onion soup and broil melted cheese for a couple minutes at the very end
@@f4erie_ true! I haven't thought about that
The biggest thing with the chocolate noodles (from what I've learned in a molecular gastronomy class) is the use of agar rather than gelatin, agar dissolves at a higher temperature and needs to be heated to get it to thicken where gelatin can be bloomed and set at a much lower temperature which makes it more unstable. Agar is more solid at room temperature and has more of a chewy consistency rather than gelatin which is bouncy and soft. If you were to try it again even with a different flavor choice (I've made vanilla noodles which is essentially a pannacotta in noodle form) I'd highly suggest agar! Also, if you search online molecular gastronomy noodles there are more useful pages/videos to browse. 😁
I'm not surprised that the pickle cheese combo was good. One of my guilty pleasures is a sandwich with white bread, butter, a slice of any kind of cheese that I have, and some pickles.
No guilt needed that's a great sandwich!
Yuck 🤢 it’s greasy is the only thing that I can’t stand i have had this I think I was at a burger joint and I had a whole pickle on my burger instead of sliced pickles the cheese was kind of crisp and burnt for some reason and the pickle was cut into longer slice in stead of ur small circle slice I basically already had this but on a burger without ranch or wrapped in the cheese lol
Just had that but with bacon added 🤤
What's guilty about it?
@@dragonfly9821 I'm usually high when I make it 😅
David, the pickles you picked are a fermented pickle vs. a brined pickle. That's why it smelled so funky. Fermented foods are funky. Think kimchi and sauerkraut but in pickle form.
it's just heating vinegar. Any time you heat vinegar it smells funky, especially dill infused vinegar.
Ba Tempte pickles are so good!
@@plebiansociety The pickles he used don't have vinegar, they're just fermented.
"Did this come from a city with a surplus of cheese and pickles?" funny you said that, because being by a surplus of pickles is how fried pickles were invented in ARKANSAS! First created in the summer of 1963 by the late Bernell Austin who owned the Duchess Drive-in. Austin's son David Smith said, "He thought, well there's got to be a way to cash in on that pickle. Of course this is the south, where did it go? In the deep-fryer." Genius move. The idea was originally a gimmick to drum-up business for the drive-in that was located across the highway from the Atkins Pickle Company, but from there it just became a Southern staple once it got popular at festivals.
Although the drive-in closed in the late 60s, you can still get the fried pickle made with the original recipe (only his family know the recipe) at the Picklefest held annually in Atkins, Arkansas!
That fried dill pickle has crept north. They are served several places in central Illinois!
@@annbrookens945, hell, they’ve been in Minnesota for several years now! I *love* fried pickle chips!
@@annbrookens945They sell frozen versions at the grocery store.
"Everybody's so creative!" I got that reference 💀
She recently popped up in my clock app feed, and she never fails to simultaneously make me laugh with her quips ...but also horrified from some of the recipes she reacts to!
It ain't slidin down easy if it ain't cheesy!
That looks differently different!
gotta walk down to kiki’s house and see if she’ll lend us some milk 😭
@@ceeceecee Girl, Kiki done moved 😭
Man, I didn't even realize how much I missed you until you came back from your break. You're one of the few channels I actually click that bell for.
thanks for sticking around :)
You made my day with those chocolate noodles LOL. Thanks for everything that you do, David!
My guess would be to heat the tubing enough to let the tubing loosen around the noodles, run under some hot water for 30 seconds, but that's just my guess,it would be rough though no matter what
A quick dip in boiling water would probably do it. But, yeah, I can't see this being worth making lol.
@@lyrica_overdose matter tends to expand as it heats. If it was an empty tube in really, really hot water, the plastic would soften until it sort of defofmed in on itself, but it wouldn't shrink straight up.
good call! Idk how I didnt think of that lol
*THANK YOU!* I personally *LOVE* lasagna with a layer of ricotta. I don't care if béchamel is more traditional. Some traditions are stupid. I grew up eating lasagna with ricotta, and the ricotta is my favorite part.
The chocolate noodles made me wheeze lol
Safiya and Tyler made them on a stream some time ago and had some better luck I guess 🤣
Came to say this too. 🤣
I was laughing so I hard, it got me coughing!
I used to have pet rats and one of them houdini'd her way out of their cage and raided our pantry. The result looked very much like those noodles
@@thaliacrafts407 LOL 😂
It’s crazy, I’ve been watching you since middle school and now I’m 21 so it’s kinda awesome over the years seeing the changes and growth of everything on the channel
holy cow thanks for sticking around for so long!
One of my favorite sandwiches growing up was a basic crispy grilled cheese with 4 dill pickle chips! There's also a pretty popular snack recipe where you just put cheddar cheese in the bottoms of a mini muffin tin, then add a dill pickle chip/slice to each and then bake it til it gets crispy. Suuuper good.
The "compressor noodle shot" really cracked me up! 🤣🤣🤣
I am completely with you, I hate gelatine, too, and therefore would suggest to always replace it with agar-agar. The dosage is slightly different, but since you were working without a recipe, it doesn't matter that much, imo.
The inside of the (much shorter!) tube in the tik-tok might have been slightly greased, otherwise there's no chance to get these noodles out.
And, last but not least: Why?
You can easily make chocolate noodles by hand, and they'll be fantastic! 😋
That lasagna soup looks good. I think I’ll make that this weekend.
I thought the chocolate noodles would be actual noodles but with added coco powder. The lasagna soup might be something I’d try to make, but in my home kitchen not my apartment which is too small and under equipped.
If you really love ricotta cheese that much then I cannot reccomend trying ricotta cheese pie enough. It is absolutely delicious!
When you make a mold out of any gelatin you have to soak the container in hot water for a few minutes then it should come right out.
I would've tried to dip the tubing in some hot water for a few seconds. That's what usually ends up happening with gelatin.
My favorite thing is the reaction when David doesn't expect to like something but then it's yum.
My husband saw the original video where he's squirting the noodles out of the tubes. The refraction of light through the tubes makes me think that there's water in the tubes not air, which makes sense because water cannot be compressed so, it should have even pressure when pushing the noodles out.
Great video David, I watched in another video of the noodles from a mexican chef and he us agar agar, not gelatine, also he dont let the noodles get hard in the tube, he push it out of the tube to the ice water
I nearly busted a gut when you brought in the air compressor. LOL. Got at least 16% more chaos outta that! 🤣
The crispy cheese roll is especially good if you sub the pickles for kimchi, I've had to talk myself out of making it again lol
cheesy pickles literally cannot flop its such a good combo!!
My poor David! You made a heroic effort to produce those ridiculous chocolate noodles. As you suggested: " Just eat the d*** chocolate bar!" Sounds good to me. And now I'm thinking about frying some cheese to make a pickle taco...
I've been making my own version of a pressure cooker lasagna soup for years lol. Delicious, lower calorie for more bulk, way faster
I love the “Oh!”
“Whaaat?” at 10:00
I made similar noodles myself a few years ago, it's based on molecular cooking and instead of gelatine you use Agar, with that it dose not stick to the tubing, if you want to try it again sometime
The little hand wave you did after first bite of the pickle cheese was adorable.
I forgot to mention. I've been using the fried cheese discs as a replacement for tortillas-crackers-pita. We call them Crunchy Cheese (in English so it sounds exotic hahaha) It helps on my low carb diet. luckily there aren't a lot of European pickles here in southern mexico, so I don't have to deal with that part of the dish. I do like chinese pickled veggies.
I missed your videos so much! I've been here for so long, I don't even remember what year- 2018? who knows. But I will never leave!
Watching you try to un-constipate those noodles had me ROLLING. As soon as you got the compressed air my friend muttered, “Oh no, that’s not gonna do what you think it’s gonna do”
I might have dunked the tubing in some warm water before trying to get them out, but man… I’d pay GOOD money to see the uncut footage of that one.
excellent video david. one of your best.
I made the cheese pickles a couple weeks ago, but I used provolone and added a slice of salami to it before the pickle. It was delicious!
"It looks elegant, like a modern art piece."
Makes you wanna deep fry bamboo.
Love the TikTok recipe videos!
Another great video! The lasgna soup looks so good, I've never thought about turning my favorite pasta dish into a soup but why not? Also, what is the outro song? I've been meaning to ask forever but only now remembered to do so
Oh those chocolate noodles... the things you go through for us!! Question - could you update us when you make the lasagne soup again (or just let us know what you would do differently to make the preparation steps a little more efficient? And would you still use the alfredo, or something else?) You really made me want to try this! Thank you so much!
thank you David Seymour i’ve been watching your videos and been a subscriber since you had 40k . since i was 13 and now i’m 19. I’m just saying Thank you know because I know live in a place with not a lot of food because of poverty and watching your videos always helped me through life and we’re good videos . Thank You
My first reaction to the cheese-wrapped pickle was, "Oh, that's some keto bullshit, isn't it?" That said, I'd probably love it. Fried crispy cheese and pickles? Hard to go wrong.
I saw lasagna soup on a mommy blog some years ago and now it's a regular in our house. Lasagna is my favorite food, so I love having an easier alternative to make with more regularity.
But I do only add the cheese after plating, like the original recipe had recommended, for the exact reason you pointed out
The cheese and pickle thing is so good. Especially if you sprinkle some garlic powder in there!
Thanks for the laughs, of which there were several during this video.😂
I am fucking cackling at the chocolate noodle part lmao I love you
I nearly choked on my drink when you pulled out the industrial air compressor. My first thought was, "that's not going to end well...." I think I'll just stick with the lasagna soup. ;)
👍 BaTampte pickles!!!❤️ (Family favorite. Haven't seen them since I left CT.) It looks pretty good actually. I was a little grossed out by the looks of Zack Chou's chocolate noodles, but appreciate the creativity.
I'm not saying make a video out of it, but Brian Lagerstrom's lasagna with fresh homemade ricotta is the best lasagna I've ever had. Absolutely worth the effort. You should give it a shot.
Haven't made the lasagna, but I regularly make my own ricotta, thanks to Bri!! It's so much better than store-bought, and so easy. Glad I saw his ravioli video and learned how to do it!
So ive delved into molecular gastronomy with thoose weird noodles. I did a strawberry noodle for my collage final. Lmao. I usually use agar for noodles. They give a higher resistance. Easier to push out.
Probably need to adjust your cream to chocolate ratio. With that amount your looking more of a cream sauce not a heavy chocolate.
With chocolate you probably need to give a light heat before getting them out as well. But overall you were close!
Cheese and pickles go on burgers together so sounds bangin to meee
I’m not getting your videos recommended anymore, I needed to see this at your insta. UA-cam recommend this guy more!!!!
There's a local lunch shop in the city I work in that does Lasagna soup and its awesome
love your videos!!!
Omg I eat the cheese and pickle all the time.. it's a great snack for my diet
I love cheese and pickles together! I haven't tried this recipe but I love plain cold pickles and cheese together like a little sandwich 😄
I love lasagna soup! I do it with cream not Alfredo sauce and the family including little all eat it. 💜 you are very right the ricotta totally makes it sooo good!
Everybody's so creative 😂
I’ve always LOVED pickles and cheese but like a little slice of cheddar block cheese
THE NOODLES LMAOOO
Ngl that lasagna soup looks pretty good
I'm totally with you about ricotta cheese! I'm a half Italian Jersey girl & that's what I grew up on too. Thanks for the recipe--can't wait to try it!
The lasagna soup is actually pretty common over in my area. It taste just like lasagna but in some tomato soup and it’s delicious.
The cheese pickles look like a midwestern treat
Maybe for the chocolate noodles the noodles were frozen briefly (like 10 mins) in the hose, then the hose was dipped in hot water to loosen? Like Popsicles get released from mold when you run under hot water....
I'm obsessed with pickles and cheese I eat it at least once a week I'm definitely trying the fries cheese pickle burrito
I genuinely think Zach just dumped random crap into the bowl and then just bought some brown dyed spaghetti noodles or something like that and used hella tight editing skills to make it look like it came out smooth from the tube 😂😂😂
I remember that video! 😂 I think he claimed this was an easy one for anyone to make with stuff they have at home.
Edit: Oops. I wanted to say that this might have worked with less time in the ice bath, more gelatine, something like that? It would always look like disgusting worms though.
I don’t know who’s been making lasagna with a Béchamel sauce, but that’s *not* Italian and I am. Ricotta all the way! I get mine from the Italian market not far from my house. As for that lasagna soup, I’ve been eyeing that for a while now. Personally I’ll use the mini lasagna noodles. I use them when I make skillet lasagna too. So much easier than breaking lasagna sheets.
Now about those noodles… I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard at a cooking video ever! I completely lost it when you brought in the air compressor! 😂😂😂
To everyone mentioning how interested they are in trying the lasagna soup, I really recommend checking out Half Baked Harvest’s lasagna soup recipe online! It’s workflow makes a ton more sense, and it’s really foolproof. We’ve made it dozens of times with no issue, and it’s always amazing!
Love your content David! Always have and always will!
Can you try Anna Olsons chocolate cake (from 4 years ago not 6) it’s my go to chocolate cake recipe but I want to know how it holds up to your other fave chocolate cakes
ok the lasagna soup actually looks good. i don't like lasanga, i think it's the texture but i'd try the soup.
I grew up with cottage cheese in lasagna. Ricotta is fancy.
Everybody’s so creative
Man, I thought I was crazy the other night when I tried a toasted cheese and pickle sandwich... Glad I'm not the only one in the world that thinks pickles and cheese together are good. 🤣
Pickles and cheese is a classic combination!
I think that cheese and pickle snack would be great cut into chunks as an appetizer-like snack.
Pickles in nacho cheese is honestly kinda good, so I can see that first one working
Would it have helped to dunk the tubing in warm water before trying to extrude the noodles?
Where did you get that grater?? It's looks so cool and useful
David really gave all he got for those chocolate noodles😂💀
I think you're right, re: agar in the mixture, as well as reducing the amount of milk/cream. Zach's noodle liquid looked more ganache-like before it set. And, I wonder if he oiled his tubes before injecting the cooled mixture into them... Hmm. I'm sorry they didn't turn out as well as hoped. I do think the lasagna soup looks great, and the cheesy pickles is a hair away from a "fried pickle": if you wrapped one pickle slice fully in the cheese (around and both tips), it would be a true winner.
Thanks again, David, for the food tests!
The chocolate noodles looked like a typical bathroom in a gas station, and the “shit.” he said was the worker walking in, realizing they had to clean it.
Chocolate noodles sounds like a fun dessert idea. Could be improved using different ingredients.
so happy you're in my life
I miss Ba Tampte pickles so much since I left the NY Metro.
im always surprised to see people grossed out by the pickles in a blanket. its the best part of elmos favorite meal, grilled cheese and a pickle and a glass of milk
I watch alot of your videos and always enjoy the various food recipes, the hit and miss of combinations of recipes. The recipe with Zack choi i believe the ingredient you were missing David to make the chocolate noodles more jelly like is KONJAC POWDER. I watch alot of asmr and cooking videos because i love cooking and recipes myself and I have seen them used this powder alot in recipes if they want to make something jelly like, so if you ever revisit this chocolate noodle recipe again give the konjac powder a go👍, it was hilarious seeing you bust out the heavy machinery to get that out 🤣🤣🤣 and I'm like over here no David that's not gonna work it's just gonna make a mess
First time commenting hope this helps. Oh and quick word of advice whatever recipe you are making whether it be making something sweet or salty make sure and flavor it because the konjac powder does not seem to have much of a taste so more likely you would need to add a little more sweet or salt to whatever you are making. I have seen ppl make jelly from soda but forgot to add additional sugar to the mixture when stiring in the konjac to thicken the recipe and it wasn't sweet enough.
I knew the chocolate noodles was going to be a hot mess. But yeah. xD
The cheese and pickles is a straight up drunk snack, it's up there with cup of noodles and Tabasco sauce, and it's probably better with regular dill pickles instead of pickles fermented in garlic juice like yours were.
I’m e been eating cheese and pickle sandwiches for 35 years!! They’re awesome. The fried cheese seems too oily, though.
Can you do a review on Momofuku instant noodles and chili oils?
Spread some cream cheese on salami and put some pickle on it (baby whole dills work well because you can roll it), yum!
We actually eat cheese like that a lot in Mexico, it's called a costra and you can fill it with meat or whatever
EVERYBODY SO CREATIVE!
I recommend agar agar as gelatin replacement lol
Your issue with the noodles is probably the tubing. It's way too thick walled, it needs to be more flexible and expandable so air can get around the noodles to minimize friction.
That was so funny! 😄
The noodles 😂
Just dunk the tubes briefly in hot water. The gelatin adhered to the inner walls, so you need to warm up the outside to get it to release.
those jelly noodles are similar to somehting a SciFi channel cooking show once did.
