    I am 63 and I just bought one of these. I got the low step, not because I can't step over it, but I wanted the water bottle mount. This has a great combo of a good battery and 750W motor. Also, this has a weight rating of 350lbs. I think gas prices will continue to go up so I wanted a bike I could commute to work on.

      @@remmy100 It wasn't bad at all. but who really knows. I think it was less than 2 weeks. I like the bike and got a good deal. I would have preferred the high step, but I wanted the extra cargo capacity of the step over. These are well built. I bought a cheaper Amazon bike before this one because I didn't know the difference. I recommend spending a little more and get a good one like the Himiway.

    I Just got mine and love it. Big guy 255 pounds 6'2 and the bike is perfect for trails and road. Easily go 20 miles and still had 25% power left. If on the edge just do it. Got the Himiway because of the reviews and the 2 year warranty and Samsung battery. You wont regret it.

    Awesome Bike. I’ve had mine for 2 years. A Great upgrade is the Bolton E bikes calipers semi hydraulic dual pads. They bolt on in 10 min. $150 bucks. The difference was so worth it. Much Smoother, Stronger stops, Very Quiet, With the benefits of dual pads your not warping your rotors. By the one pad calipers that comes on the himiway, A great upgrade for a fairly cheap price.

      @Ron Mier not the best, actually. I called the Himiway customer service line yesterday to inquire about my order and the rep was not very polite. He told me to email them for my order order inquiry, which I did before calling him. Both emails I sent to them at 2 different email addresses bounced back to me....so that’s why I called them! Curious if you have you ever dealt with their customer service department?

    There is a sensor on the left crank side, don't know how that is used in the Himiway system. Found out a couple of weeks ago the Himiway, RAD Power, Pedego bikes and a number of other ebikes are made by a company called Haidong in China. This company does OEM manufacturing for many companies.

    I want to buy a Himiway Cruiser myself, but here in Germany is this law with 250 W motor for e-bikes,and on the website is only with 250 W hub motor. I don't know if it's worth, because, me, with my quite cheap non electric fat bike(Schwalbe tires,that are very loud) I can reach 25/30 miles (45/50 km), on a flat surface/street. But, the main problem with these fat bikes, is that the back tire rim kind of destroys itself in time. So, hub motor on a bike, is a question mark for me. Anyways, great review, I learn a lot from your video. Thanks.

    Had so much trouble with Himiway. They tried to replace my faulty motor 3 times instead of letting me ship the bike back for a replacement. Took 6 months and I had to take it to a mechanic to replace. Then, still didn’t work and they wanted me to buy another one and return the old one before they would send me a new one. I think they’re customer service is in China? Just get something local because Himiway doesn’t know how to fix their problems.

    • @TheTechofTech

      Part of the reason for Himiway's relatively low prices is that, yes, they are nearly entirely operated out of China. However, all ebike brands are struggling with parts and customer service right now.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому

      I actually show it in use in quite a hilly area including commenting on its ability to make steep climbs. You still have to pedal it, though. Class 2 ebike power limits mean you will still need to pedal to get up steep climbs. It's that way with every Class 2 ebike and not just this one. However, this is otherwise a good climber by Class 2 standards.

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому +1

      It does have a way to sense that you are pedaling, but I think that's in the hub. PAS then tries to get you to a specific speed, so it will use full power even on PAS 1, for example, to try to get you to 10mph, then the power goes to zero. Contrast that with other methods that have PAS 1 giving you consistent assistance regardless of speed (up to the set maximum speed).

      I bought my Himiway Cruiser in January of 2020. It has a Cadence sensor on the crank and has parameters to adjust in the display settings. I see on their site dated 7/20/20 that states "Himiway Bike is going with the speed sensor.
      The torque sensor and the cadence sensor are unavailable." Is this a supply chain issue? I also have seen recent other reviews that say it has a cadence sensor.
      Note:
      One of the first things I did was to adjust the PAS settings and percentages. At default levels with PAS at 0-5 the power percentage is 50% at level 1. That is way too high in my opinion and could cause problems for new riders. That creates a Jackrabbit start effect that is not very conducive to battery range/distance also. Nice Review

    After doing a lot of research a mid drive is the logical choice

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому

      You say that it is logical only because you have the budget to buy one. You aren’t going to get anywhere near the range or climbing power the Himiway Cruiser has in a mid drive ebike without spending several thousand dollars more.

  • @ivanturner912

    I have noticed that the Advertisement for this Himiway Cruiser in the USA features a 750 watt motor where as the exact same advert for a european purchase only has a 250 watt motor?? And the price is the same in the USA and Europe? Bit of a rip off is it...

    • @TheTechofTech

    Himiway lists it at $1,599. At 3:24 you say it's $1,499, so perhaps they've raised the price since you published the video.
    Just passing that along.

    I reset pedal assist 1 down to 20% of motor which gives me an average of 7 mph.
    #2 at 35% or 18 mph
    #3 at 50% or 24 mph
    #4 at 75% or 28 mph
    #5 at 99% or 32 mph

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому

      The percentages are not of motor power. PAS will use 100% motor power at all settings if needed to get to the speeds you’re referring to. In fact, if you take 35mph as the theoretical max speed of the motor, then your percentages line up with the max speed to which they provide pedal assist.

    • @indydawson
      @indydawson 3 роки тому +1

      @@TheTechofTech As I recall, when you reprogram pedal assist the screen displays motor in percentages. I chose the lower setting for pedal assist 1 because I wanted better control in tight places. The configuration I cruise around in most frequently is PA 3 and gear 7. Approx. 23 to 25 mph. This bike is tall and heavy. I tried riding it into the garage a couple of times but if you lose your balance it’s hard to recover and that’s when your right hand inadvertently turns the throttle and zip right into the side of your car. I now stop next to the sidewalk where I can dismount using the extra 4 inches of curb height and then use the walk mode up the driveway and into the garage where I immediately turn power off to prevent further mishap. This bike is a beast and I mean that in a positive way. However, taking a cavalier approach to operating your Himiway will eventually lead to a catastrophe of minor or major proportions. Another piece of advice is on major streets enter the left turn lane. Hopefully, you can make eye contact with the driver next to you. When the light turns green use the throttle to power through the intersection then resume pedaling. Much cleaner process. I also advise turning power off when your among people. This bike can really jump if you accidentally trigger the twist throttle. I can see why so many UA-camr’s swap them out for thumb throttles.

Et voilà maintenant il y a 1-2 semaines que j'ai un problème avec le moteur de mon Cruiser : ça fait un bruit infernal à chaque démarrage, mais incompréhensiblement ça va après quelques coups de pédalage.

      You just line it up like you see in photos for any bike, really, then remove those bolts, add the derailleur guard, and reinstall the bolts. I like to have rack mounts on top of the guard rather than under, so you would put guard then rack then bolt when reinstalling. It’s super easy to figure out if you just hold it in place.

      Yes, exactly. As you slow, the motor adds power until you get back up to the speed associated with the pedal assist setting you’re on.

      @@TheTechofTech , then I need to watch your video on changing settings. I plan on using an e-bike in hilly, rough terrain and the speed needs to be much lower than 10mph. Maybe a torque sensor is what I seek?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому

      Oh, torque sensing pedal assist is absolutely the best form of pedal assist. Check out my videos on the RipCurrent S Step-Thru. They'd apply to the non-step through if that was your preference as the components are the same. It's a lot more expensive, but so are all bikes with a torque sensor.

      you will be waiting for a while. I spoke with a tech up there and here is what he told me. I ordered my on March 17th and it was one day after they sold out. 2 things will factor in, 1 they were out and had ordered another batch. This batch was still at $1450 So if you paid that amount they should be in before late March. They are now selling the new batch at $1599 and those won't be shipping until late May. The second factor you are going to have to deal with is your shipping company. I have heard that because of it's size you will get a message saying it will be there that day and then it doesn't show up. They hold off until they have a truck that will handle the delivery. (It sucks but 2 people have stated this happened to them.) If it does you might ask to pick it up personally. Hope this helps because I am wanting to ride now as well!

    Have to get a knife to cut out the handlebar ends to use end caps, and mechanical brakes are weak - all adults going more than 12 mph should have hydraulic brakes, and 2- piston will be OK. Sand is very harsh on these brakes, and there is a big difference moving to hydraulic brakes which generally are about 3 + times more expensive than mechanical brakes...but it's your safety. Front wiring could be much cleaner. However, for the money - with the 2 year warranty - this Himiway is a good value, and among the best in class.
