Excellent video... Very informative. But, now I'm obsessed with finding the PERFECT assist levels! So many options!
Another setting I've played with is the "sensitivity" level under the PAS menu. I've discovered that this is actually the number of magnets that have to pass the sensor before pedal assist is activated. The default setting of "2" triggers the motor almost immediately after you start pedaling. But, with a setting of "6" or above, the crank has to rotate a half turn or more before the motor kicks in. Now I don't get any surprising bursts of power when I'm just turning the crank to get the outside pedal down in a turn.

There is another setting 1-4 that affects the how hard the power comes on, I have set it to 4 on mine and it helps.

I think this is also what the pedal assist sensitivity setting is on my cyrusher xf900! The range on it goes all the way to24, which would be two full revolutions of the pedals. This is the first I’ve learned of what those levels actually mean. I don’t know if this is something most experts know, but I’m grateful to you, Lunar Depression for bringing it to light for me! The labeling of these settings is really very uninformative about what they actually change, especially in the manufacturer’s translated info sheets/videos and many of us only have trial and error settings to offer.

Thank you~! Nobody seems to even know about your "secret" onset of power adjustments~! Lots of video's out there for adjusting the levels and percentages of the pedal assist settings but the SSP sitting is really the game changer adjustment for me. I personally like mine set on 3 because at 3 I still feel just a bit of power punch but nothing close to something that can make me loose control of the bike. After 20 years fighting Leukemia and not having the strength to ride an 800 lbs cruiser motorcycle this electric powered Escape keeps me on two wheel with the wind in my face. Thanks for figuring out these settings because they sure do improve the ride ~! Kit

Premium e bike's parts are usually interchangeable. Like me, I changed my display to a (Key) display for 6 MPH more speep. It was like you unhook one wire to a different wire.
With my new display I get 6 more MPH but I miss my faster acceleration. I'll change it back one day just for fun.

Don't even bother riding your bike until you follow this video's recommendations. The factory settings are down right dangerous in my opinion, especially considering the delay in throttle cutoff when in pedal assist mode.
And put a decent amount of torque on the handle bar mounts. I thought mine were tight until that first burst of power. Luckily I'm a fairly experienced rider on all sorts of two wheelers or I'd have crashed in the first 10 seconds. The bars rotated forward when the pedal assist shut down causing the twist throttle to activate, thrusting the bike forward again. It must have been fun to watch! LOL
The only thing I'd change in the recommended settings would be to increase pedal assist level 2 to 35 instead of 30. Or maybe shift level 3 down to 35 if you like the difference between 1 and 2 as published. The jump from 30 to 40 is still a bit big in my opinion.
Awesome bike. I put 10 miles on it the first day after picking it up around 5pm and spending an hour putting it together. Very capable considering I'm still around 230lbs and live in a hilly neighborhood. Hopefully the last 40lbs will finally come off now. :)

Thanks for the instructional video! Nice job on this.
This spring, 2022, I bought two Himiway ebikes. One Cruiser and one Setp-thru.
On the Cruiser, the throttle works at pedal assist settings 0-5. I find that desirable, especially when teaching someone how to operate the bike for the first time.
On the Step-thru model, the throttle will not work on pedal assist setting 0 but it does work on settings 1-5.
I'd like to set the throttle control on the Step-thru to work the same way as the Cruiser.
    Any ideas?
It would be extremely helpful if Himiway would make available a COMPLETE controller setup manual.

Great video which many will have a bike that fits there needs. But city riding requires some different settings #1 you don't want a 0 setting on you pas levels the latest models no throttle on 0 which could be a problem if you accidentally hit the - button and you expect to go when nothing is there. So city riding I say go 1-9 but it is a escape not really a peddling bike😅

Great content and I agree with setting to 0/9 and dialing back the lowest assist setting to 20%, etc: huge improvement. When I stop pedaling the assist continues on for a half a second or so, which is un-nerving. It is especially noticeable in the higher power settings and I am wondering if there is a way to adjust that as well. Again, great content as always.

Just got my Himiway Cruiser today. I will have to adjust the PA to 0-9 and set the levels as you did. Nice to know there is a way to smooth the power delivery as well as the factory setting is way to abrupt.
I was pleased and surprised to see they have added a power meter to the screen, is there a way to turn on the digital display along with the bar graph? The manual doesn't show any of the extra setup sequences, do you have PDF of what all the screens do?
Everything went together as expected, but neither the tail light or brake lite are working, any ideas wof where to start looking for the problem?

    • @TheTechofTech

I don’t know what you mean by turning on the digital display along with the bar graph. Here’s the manual for you: www.manualslib.com/manual/1270512/Key-Disp-Kd51c-U.html
As far as the taillight, I’d start by following the power all the way to the controller. Make sure the + and - are connected to the light correctly as it is DC, so that matters. Make sure the connectors are tight and clean.

I have one question, is every level just coupled with a specific amount of power, or also with a specific max. speed? Would be very intersing because I like it when the bikes alway tries to get to max speed, but the amount of power is the limiting factor for each level. Most bikes with cadence sensors work like this, but I don't know how the Himi works. Hope you can answer me that question. If you ask Himiway, you have to wait for years for an answer. ^^

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  2 роки тому +1

I've got almost 700 mi on this beast. Has been flawless to this point.
      I'm stumped!

Don’t mean to be ignorant, but if you have the peddle assist at 0 shouldn’t the throttle still work when you twist?

    • @TheTechofTech
      @TheTechofTech  3 роки тому

For some reason, the people behind the programming of these controllers thinks that “0” should mean no power at all. On Himiways and Aventon ebikes and others with speed-based pedal assist, a 0 PAS setting also kills the throttle. With cadence-based pedal assist like Rad Power uses, throttle is always available as long as the bike is on.

Just got the Cruiser step thru and have to say the brakes are appalling...dangerous even considering how powerful this bike is.

Hello, is there and Option to cancel die European Speedlimit at our Himiway Pedelecs? The Speed is reduced at European Standard at 25 km ... We try the setting from the little Himiway booklet, but they do not Work, because the European Speedlimit lays over it. Do you've got and Idea?

hi Andrea, did you manage to get rid of the speedlimit by now? there is a secret menu which can deactivate the limitation of 25km/h up to 45 km/h pedal assist.

Company is not great. Bike is good. Take 3 to 4 months to get it.
Dont count on getting bonus stuff. They will tell you to prove it. Take screenshot to protect yourself when they say. We didnt say that!

Omg i this is the worst way to use an ebike 🤬 you can be lame without being so.... lame. The best part of the video was your low speed collision, and even that was super lame
