Nice ebike. If you need a fat tire ebike, the Himiway is a good choice. However it uses a cadence sensor to apply power, providing sudden bursts of power. All a cadence sensor does is determine if the pedals are moving, and if they are, it applies full power, up until it's assigned MPH level. Each power level provides the same assistance level from start, but the higher the level, the faster MPH tops out at. 1 is usually 10mph, 2 is 14mph, 3 is 16mph, 4 is 18mph, and 5 is 20mph, or close to these numbers. Cadence sensor ebikes can be somewhat dangerous for uncoordinated folks that don't learn fast, especially older folks when you get into tight quarters, trying to navigate tight turns, or around pedestrians. You experienced that in the woods, when you turned off the assistance for that exact reason. With a more high end ebike that uses a TORQUE SENSOR you don't have that unpredictable sudden burst of power at slow speeds. Torque sensor type ebikes apply the power based on the pressure of the foot on the pedal, providing a NATURAL pedaling experience, without any sudden bursts of power. Women usually like torque sensor bikes better because they feel they have more control. Torque sensor bikes usually have a mid drive, instead of rear hub drive, but there are a few $2K bikes with rear hub drive and torque sensors, like the new Aventon Level 2.0 version. E-Dash has a mid drive commuter ebike for about $2.8K with torque sensor. If you want a quality ride and natural feel for power assist, you need an ebike that uses a TORQUE SENSOR.

Steve, Welcome to the world of eBikes! I’ve been enjoying them for 15 years. I now have six, three are fat tire eBikes from Sondors. My latest is the Sondors LX which also has a 750W mid-drive motor and can get up to 32 mph. It’s one amazing bike and your wife would especially love it as it has a step-through.
Two of my six are foldable, so I can take them with my husband and I in my Beechcraft Bonanza.
On my first two fat tire eBikes, I mounted Ibera bags on the back, to carry any and everything including a tool kit, tire slime ( in case of a flat ), handheld air compressor, And two extra batteries for the bike itself. If I have a stop with electricity available, I’ll even carry the charger.
Most importantly, now that your wife is riding with you, you’ll have more quality time together! I’m thrilled for you both!

There is no other I've seen that can whip around trees like in this video and keep catching up and keeping you in the shot like it does and I know how good Skydio II is but its not as good as this at launch and just forget. That was amazing the way it navigated the trees without even thinking about it

Your review of this particular eBike started me off on a path of research with me winding up purchasing an electric bicycle albeit a different one - brand and model. I was impressed by the capabilities of this bike on off-road surfaces and particularly the fact that it could be written on sand, even. HOWEVER, I would’ve never purchased one like this because for me, storage in TRANSPORTABILITY ARE Really Big Issues. So in the end, I wound up buying a ‘Lectric eBike Company’ eBike - one of their Newly Released 3.0 (Revisions) which just came to market at the beginning of November. I went for the extended range battery/model in weight - the Step-Through one.
I really, really think I’m going to have some fun with this and get my money’s worth. I watched a LOT of videos - several dozen - on the particular bike that I finally wound up getting and I was Pleasantly Surprised to see that, even though it used smaller - 20” x 3” wide Fat Tires, it had some pretty decent off-road/off paved surfaces capabilities and range and performance and so on.
All in all, for me - I figure that that was the one I would purchase. This particular bike that I bought was - in its previous incarnation - rev 2.0 - essentially a Best Buy by Consumer Reports in March 2022, and so I figured that the 3.0 model would be even better.
Really enjoyed your review. Except dammit - you cost me money. Which I’m sure I won’t regret spending.

Glad to see you joining the rest of us in the E-bike community.
A couple of tips for you:
Put 8oz of FlatOut in each tire. Those tires are great but they're not motorcycle tire tough and prone to flats. FlatOut is the best preventative measure you can use and unlike other products, it doesn't freeze and is good for over a decade.
Get your wife a YLG seat. Yes, it looks like a wing from a 1980's Lambo but it spreads out those PSI better than anything and is great for those of us who might be older, put on a few pounds, or have hip issues (like I do). She will gladly join you on rides more often with this one item.

Been watching you on and off for years as I used your info to buy a few drones over the years and am looking at skydio 2+ for the same reason you just used Skydio2. Just a few things. 1. I got hammered on this as well and continue to get it from viewers. Helmets for the riders. I'm at fault for this as well as recently as a month ago. 2. Riding with no power is only possible for very short distances ( less than a mile or 2K to all you Canadians), Bike weight and rolling resistance are to great to be effective as a non-powered bike. Great to see your family members take part in the videos. Thanks again and keep busting out those great reviews. 1 more thing. ARe you getting the Skydio 2+ for review? Thanks again!

Here in U.K. the law says electric bikes have to be limited to 250 Watts to go on the road. That would be slow on such an upright bicycle with such big tyres. It’s less than an even slightly fit person could do for an hour so that would have to be an off road bike. You kinda want something capable of hitting the speed limit restriction (15.5 mph)on an easy uphill at 250Watt (or you just ignore the law, which seems as common as car drivers ignoring their speed limits).
There’s research ( I think from Bristol University) that showed cars pass closer the more you look like you know what you are doing, including helmet. I basically wear one if I think I am likely to be the cause of a crash (eg. Downhill turns) and their I wear a big mountain bike style one, but in the city the marginal benefit is probably outweighed by an increased frequency of crashes, so I don’t bother. The evangelicals on either side of the spectrum don’t like to consider the possibility it is more than a black/white issue.
Edited to add: pretty sure anything other than pedal assist is illegal in U.K. if you go on road. Regularly see this being ignored though. Think it’d be relevant if you had a crash though & lawyers were involved.
Second edit to add: if you lived in U.K. I doubt you’d get that bike. Pretty sure you cycle at over 15.5mph on the road & we don’t get much snow. I think I’d get an electric cargo bike so that the extra weight slowed you down below the maximum speed. The 250W limit would still be a problem though. Guess that’s the assistance though, so it you yourself did 200W the total would be 450W (200 + 250), which is good.

Hi Steve, Well the Himiway Cruiser ebike, it is an interesting product for sure, I have heard of ebikes and to be honest I knew it would be a good thing especially when you need to go up hills, I may think about buying one myself but later in the future, In Seychelles these bikes would make sense, the best place to ride would be on La Digue Island, it is the quietest and more relaxing than the main Island and there are less cars and trucks too. Bikes are the main transport. Those bikes would work on any island but we have no bike lanes, you will need a helmet and perhaps to be extra safe, a high visibility vest to ride on public roads. Road speed for the bikes for the moment, I think it's being implemented but for the moment there's no speed limits for ebikes (At the writing on this comment), I do have a question regarding the battery though at least for this model, Does it have a re gen mode? Like when you peddle or brake the bike re generates and recharge the battery? It would explain why at 10km you still had a full battery. Or maybe to maximize battery use perhaps maximum assistance settings?

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798

I just ordered the unit you have reviewed and once processed the notification for an American or Canadian purchase showed a speed limitation of 15.5 MPH. How is yours 20?
Is there a hack to add the 4.5 MPH? Stay lucky and smile often.

    • @CAPTAINDRONE798
      @CAPTAINDRONE798 Рік тому +1

In Canada and the US the government sets the max motor watt output permitted and Max speed. In Canada and the US it is 20 MPH. In the bike menu you can go into the settings and make many settings including max speed. Max speed affects range so I believe the company may have, in the past, set the speed to 15 MPH to increase the range claim. My son said when he drove it on a straight course he was up to 20 MPH, so I assume mine was set at 20. I believe there are some review videos where people show going into the settings (this bike & all Himiway bikes have the same interface so you can look for any Himiway bike showing the settings).

heh, that's what I got my radmini for... SMOKIN deal and it folds...
but I can tell this bike is higher quality and a more powerful motor/controller. mine doesn't quite have that "sudden pep" or shock on go...but it IS awesome to throttle and go.

Ebikes come in all different configurations. The pro models made by the company that makes my two cycle bikes that I showed at the start of the video cost around $8000. There are lower quality build and performance bikes for under a $1000. The Himiway is the only ebike that easily drives on beach sand and snow and rough trails with steep inclines for the price (very heavy duty).

great addition to your feed. been considering options for my wife and I. she has foot issues, so biking is an option vs or in addition to hiking/walking. this helps. thank you for doing a few related reviews.

These E bike company's are pushing E bikes like crazy, literally every youtuber I watch promotes some sort of E bike to the point I hate them lol

In my part of the world fuel prices are through the roof. Cycle stores with ebikes can’t keep them in stock.

please adjust that brake lever position..it looks soo up and not ergonomic...they must be waay down...if youre a biker you know that... bike is not bad,,but like most of those its put together poorly..with the weakest components...

Brake position is always user preference. This is the way my wife prefers it.
