This final was a piece of history: first championship for Jordan, last game in a final for Magic, end of showtime in LA, the beginning of a dinasty for Bulls, Phil Jackson becoming a legend as a coach, and the last final in the Forum
All of this is correct but I think Showtime officially ended the year before when Pat Riley resigned as HC after the Lakers were upset in the 2nd round by Phoenix. The 90-91 Lakers under 1st year HC Mike Dunleavy, brought in a different, slower paced style of play. They had a really good season and honestly OVER-achieved to get to the finals after upsetting the best record in the league Portland Trailblazers. This marked the end of the Magic era altogether (Even though he made the brief comeback in 96 for the 2nd half of that season, where LA went on to lose in 1st round of playoffs and Magic eventually retired for good)
Cant believe 30 yrs ago! Crazy. I remember in grade school how crazy it was. People lived , breathed, talked MJ. U wake up.. read the morning paper and big photo of MJ. Take my morning crap and reading SI with MJ articles... go to school, kids talking about MJ and the awesome game he played. After school we all hit the courts... trying to be like Mike. Thats how life was .....
😂😂 Man as a Chicago kid I gotta say you’re so lucky 🍀
@@royaviles5730 👌👌👌. Yep. Its how life was brah. Had a bulls pullover jacket with #23 on it. Go golfing with my buddies and i remember most conversations we had were about MJ...and the sweet reverse layup or shot he made. I guess today the kids must talk about Steph Curry and his 3's. Mj, we talked about him driving to the basket or sick fade aways
Yup.....I remember how everyone in Chicagoland lived and breathed the Bears and the Super Bowl Shuffle in '85, and then Jordan and the Bulls.....good times
Loved watching Magic's passes in this game. He kept the Lakers in as much as he could.
Paxon just went hells mode in the 4th Quarter
Paxton and BJ Armstrong were the best long-range shooters during the first threepeat run. Without them no Bulls dynasty.
Pax was killing it in the 4th quarter
Clutch Paxson
Paxson is known for his clutch shooting.
Jordan. Playing tight D on best player and then the main offensive threat who everyone is keeping an eye on. Freed everyone else.
win or loss Magic Johnson is really a wizard at his own game.
Magic played his heart out in what would be his last Finals appearance.
Yes he did!!
yes he did, but very noticeably fatigued as he was in prior games 2, 3 and 4. He pretty much left Paxson unguarded at the end. I'm a big Magic fan and he had incredible stamina for a 6'9" guy.
I suspect he already had HIV taking it's effects as it wouldn't be diagnosed until October that year.
1❤1
only MJ can beat MJyougotthis
Magics passes were so beautiful
Scottie was going crazy lol
He'd be the leading scorer that night too
@@edwardoutlawjr8154 he lucky he dont have to worry about Double Teams
Man Pippen was the shit...don't care what anybody say...BJ Armstrong, Horris Grant, John Paxson, Jordan and the rest was hard to get around...💯
Jordan played in a much more collective way : Pippen, Paxson, Grant, Cartwight... Not a one man Team.
I agree until you said Cartwright 😂 that nigga was weak as shit 😂 can you imagine if they had Dennis Rodman instead of Cartwright 👀 yooooo...who's to say they would've pulled off 10 rings if Jordan hadn't retired after his first 3 rings 🤔
Bulls were lightning quick and swarming on defense. Could instantly turn defense into easy offense.
I was 9 and remember watching this series. I was always a basketball fan, but watching this series really stuck with me. It made me understand and realize what true greatness is.
I was 18 boy how time goes by life is good
I’m not a hater or the get off my lawn type but my goodness basketball was SO MUCH better back then
Agreed.
Paxon was on 🔥🔥🔥. I remember this like it was yesterday. Jordan 🐐 forever
LeBron James exceeds that
When was the last time bulls won the NBA championship I'll wait
Pippen was going crazy
John Paxson is So Underrated and I Always Liked Him
Bulls 3 pointer man.
He was a Steve Kurr before Steve Kurr...the shooting and game playing reminds me of each other so much...
With Pippen's and Jordan's ability to get to the rim at will, you had no choice but to leave Pax with open looks. That offense was nearly impossible to defend.
Scottie Pippen though 😳
That Bulls defense was savage. This looks like it mightve been one of the funnest series ever to watch.
omg, this is crazy. I missed cheering for the Bulls and i live in LA all my life! I cheered for the Bulls.Jordan steals and scores!
I miss the old nba
Yes the 90s
I lived the Chicago when they won the 1st title. The city went crazy! Ppl flipping over cars and buses. I went driving around with my friend and we saw all this. Throwing beer bottles at the police. It was a blast! There was nothing they can do. Ahh memories.
Sorry man but that's not really a good thing. I can see why that city is a hell hole today.
@@Jerrel28 its a very touristic city. Still a top destination. All the crime u see is the south and west side in the city. And who the hell wants to go there. Its a shit hole. Not the north side which is where u wanna be. Yes i was teen back then.
@@Jerrel28 take a hike
@@Jerrel28 relax…laker fans did the same thing if not worse when they won in the bubble in case you forgot. Lol! 🤦🏻♂️
Nice..
And the rest is HISTORY...
Bulls closing out the Lakers to win the first championship.
Did you see Jordan cradle before the dunk at like 1:55. I thank God I was born in the right era to see him. He was so gifted and special.
#THEBESTTOEVERDOIT
Life is good we loved Life then and now God is good
Now we have lebron James and Steph curry
And I, as a french student at Ohio State University was there in front of my TV set and it was just BRILLIANT !!! :-D Thank you AMERICA for those MAGIC MOMENTS !!!
Paxon was knocking'em down
What a game by Jordan and magic❤
Paxson and pippen brought the championship in chicago.
john paxson...
Yeah. Paxson was a hell of a shooter. While the dumbass people today talking like jordan had a bunch of scrubs teamates. The fqct that the bulla were the super team on that era.
Pippen & Paxon delivered!
Great game by Paxson. I would rather watch 90's replays than anything the NBA has today.
Undersized bulls team. Relentless defense. Great series.
It's definitely true. 90's Bulls players were undersized in general than other teams but this made them incredibly athletic and energetic and their defense indefatigable in all the playoff games.
John saved the day
The only NBA Finals series the Bulls won by less than six games.
5:43 Greatest point ever
Horace was a beast. and Pippin demonstrated why Jordan needed it him.
And this was passing of the touch from Magic to Jordan.
At the end Paxson threw everything
Pippen showed out this entire series…..
Pipen dunk show. Paxson 3 make. Beginning of the a density
The Scottie Pippen dunk at 5:00 is my all time favorite dunk by Him. Second is the one over Ewing.
This announcer is still in the nba up to this day...
Jordan stole the ball at least 4 times! 😅
He was "THE GLOVE" before Gary Payton...big ass hands...😂
Jordan and Pippen were truly a dynamic duo. I'm in no way trying to minimize the role others played as well.
Batman and Robin
Paxton was on fire Jordan fouled 3 times and double dribbled 3 times
They suck 😭 we done wit the 90's
That mtfk black cat was a menace!!!! Soooo quick🔥🔥🔥
Michael Jordan vs Magic Johnson
MJ the GOAT
I love how the dumbass agenda like trying to make it seem like Pippen guarded Magic this whole series, when in fact Pippen only guarded him in game 2 as a way of keeping him off Worthy who was torching Pippen in game 1.
💯💯💯
Only idiots say that lol. Jordan in the beginning of the series is locking magic down lol. Ofcourse magic scored on him some possessions but I mean magic is a legend and that’s basketball Ofcourse he’s gonna get buckets still.
Chicago still cooked the fakers 4-1 hahaha
Back when money from a shoe deal made you relevant.
MJ who's open?
MJ: Paxon is open
Paxson saved Jordan's legacy.
How he saved his legacy when Bulls lead 3-1
Paxson came up huge. But Jordan won 3 rings without Paxson. Even without Paxson, Jordan still had a very good chance of being the GOAT.
@@rushrush1209 bcoz he got other shooter. Kerr and kokuc. Clearly Jordan isnt a one man team. He got more help other than any team in his era. Thats why they have dynasty. There is no team in NBA on dynasty with one man army. Its stupid.
Ray Allen saved lebron legacy wit that game winner
Smh people with no phucking NBA knowledge say dumb a$$ 💩🙄🙄
Still one of the greatest venues on the planet.
The forum is absolutely fantastic.
Would love for the Lakers & Clippers to play each other at least once there.
where are all the plumbers everyone always talks about? they all ballin'
Would of like to see both teams at their best aka Kareem Abdul Jabar
If not for Paxson, they would have played another game.
Magic like the grim reaper barely moving but running the game
That's because he played in 9 championships. Played deep in the playoffs every year of his career and had no load management.
Pssst…hey Magic, this isn’t Larry Bird you’re going up against.
only MJ can beat MJ
Real NBA 90s go Lakers even though we Lost to the bulls
I can watch these good ol classics any day
Fun fact: This is the 2nd most assist in an NBA finals game. (Magic with 20 assist, who also has the most with 21 6/3/84.) It was also his 8th triple double which Magic is 2nd with most triple doubles in the finals.
Jordan and Pippen at their finest, Magic looking ridiculous with some of his passes and moves, and John Paxton being clutch as all hell. It doesn't get better than this!
June 12, 1991. The day I was born. Huge Jordan fan in 1997-1998, fitting.
That paxon guy was a sniper from afar.
This series probably goes 6 or 7 games, (Bulls would still win the series) if Worthy played the entirety of the series.
whos here 2023
Jordan 7:20 the Best all time forever
MAD HOUSE 🏠
Wow 🤩 out of this world 🌎 ❤ Jordan vs 🆚 Magic two legends on fire 🔥
Small hands Vladi....always turning the ball over 😫
jordan vs magic good final
J'étais au collège quand j'ai vu ce match très tôt le matin chez un ami qui l'a enregistré en VHS.
Que de souvenirs.
This was when THE WHOLE NBA CHANGED...
terry teagle was a laker?
As a Lakers fan, it would've been great if the Lakers were at full strength for this series. I think Worthy and Scott were injured, those were 2 starters. They still might lose as the Bulls were younger and hungrier, but it might've went to 6 or 7 games instead of 5.
They both only missed this game, the Lakers were already down 3-1
Juegazo fue toma y daca los líderes haciéndolo lo suyo moria una leyenda nacia el mas grande de la historia felicidad de repetir esos momentos de la niñez.
Where Jabbar play final champions Laker
Where is Rambis and Kareem?
Kareem was retired, Rambis was with Phoenix at that point
Kareem 😂 yo...you definitely is late...he wasn't playing when Jordan started taking over...
Did AC Green bend the rim at 6:14???
The games so basic compared to today
9:31
Where was James worthy
Injured
Bulls 🏆
okeeee
7:20 Hang time
Super 🎉 🪅🪅🪅🪅🪅🪅🪅🪅👏👏👏👏
There will never be a player better than MJ.
Magic over rated. Been a fan for 35 years. His bag wasn't all that.
You REALLY need to take a look at Magic from around 1982-84. Jordan wasn’t even in the league then. Magic was unreal at his peak … fast, athletic and incredible passing. This is NOT the Showtime Lakers the Bulls defeated (Kareem, Wilkes, McAdoo and Nixon are long gone). Magic is older here, slower and a shell of what he was once was athletically. It’s amazing they even made it to the finals in ‘91 honestly.
