Chicago loved Jordan and it pissed Isiah off, this dude from North Carolina turned most of Chicago against zeek man that had to hurt.
Clearly the most classless example of sportsmanship in the annuls of professional sports. This was an absolute disgrace, totally justifying Isiah's exclusion from the Dream Team.
fieryrocket3555;sportsmanship was thrown OUT of the window the minute David Stern MODIFIED all the games ' defensive rules to ensure Jordan could defeat Detroit!!
Thomas is a great example of how being super talented and ruthless is not enough to be considered truly great. He did not know how to take a loss, and his long term behaviour and being a ringleader of questionable tactics (Jordan rules) over a period of years resulted in him missing the dream team. Jordan was ultra competitive but still managed a lot of class. Some may not like him as an individual but as a sports man he had so much more class (and talent) than Thomas. Great credit to that Bulls team that they just got better and better after their first two losses to the Pistons and went on to dominate and create a dynasty with a team that never had that label before then.
Isiah made some mistakes, but he was not classless. He takes too much heat. People selectively forgive faults. Barkley was forgiven for spitting on a baby. Lebron, although hated for other reasons, also walked off the court early. Jordan show low class by insulting the City of Detroit, before they swept them. Wrong or right, Isiah felt that he was standing up for the city, which has taken a lot of unfair criticism. The Jordan Rules were about forcing Jordan to one side of the court, where there were more defenders. They also tried to force him to use his left, which he hated. The Knicks treated Jordan worse than the Pistons. To say Jordan had so much more class than Isiah is a bit much. Even if Isiah doesn't walk off early, I bet Jordan would have found another reason to keep him off the Dream Team.
Do you even know why the Pistons left the court in the first place? Because Jordan dissed them before Game 4, calling the Pistons “undeserving champions” and “bad for basketball.” That’s why they left the court. That POS didn’t give them the respect they deserved.
The mid 80s to mid 90s were truly the Golden age for the NBA. Not just because my Bulls won 6 championships. But the competition of the NBA was at an all time high with unmatched agression. The Bulls, Pistons, Celtics, Lakers, 76ers, the Jazz, Trail Blazers, Pacers , Knicks, Rockets, Suns, and the Pacers were the teams to beat in those days. And none of these teams liked each other.
@@olegunnarsolskjaer337 You're right. Sonics did reach a final. Bulls beating the Cavs elevated the Bulls into contention with Detroit. The Hawks played everyone tough but could never get by the second round of the playoffs. The Hornets by 94-95 were a team on the rise. But they were tough too. No doubt!
I was a diehard Jordan/Bulls fan back in the day. I was 13 and finishing up 8th grade at this time. Pretty sure this was a week game and tipped off midday as I recall badly wanting to watch the Bulls finish off the hated Pistons but was only able to catch the very end of the game when I got home from school.
What I like about mj and bulls dynasty is nobody had the chance to dethrone their success. They went out on a high note. Many of successful runs got dethroned but not bulls which put them in more legendary status
Thats true and that's what makes MJ's aura so legendary. I will say if the Bulls didn't break up prematurely and MJ never retired then they could of won 1-2 more and or had lost 1-2 finals. The Rockets were a great team when they win back to back titles. A Bulls vs LA would of been great and possibly a passing of the torch moment but MJ went out on top.
@Robert Phillips They would have got someone else. The 90's were stacked with talent. And Rodman wasn't a scorer. So I'm positive MJ would have won without him, specifically.
@@felixmartinez9673 And? They could have got plenty of players like that in the 90's who could have also contributed in scoring. So they would have been better than Rodman. The Bulls role players were not as great as you think as individual players. They just knew their roles as a team.
And because of that classless act, Thomas paid the ultimate price, him being excluded from the Dream Team. Karma can really bite you in the ass, right Zeke?
The way Jordan and Pippen move with the ball was so smooth..... they take such long strides that it looks like they're moving slow even though they're actually moving at 100 miles an hour.

Pistons were like an unstoppable villain group slaying other teams like Boston and lakers then bulls rise against them and beat the piston and then peace was restored l
They used to send the starters/stars off to the locker room when the final game was out of reach, because the fans always rushed the floor after the game. They did it for their safety. Kevin McHale stopped to congratulate Isaiah on his way out and tell them to go out and beat L.A. Sadly, the Pistons did not do that for the Bulls, but actually led a chant for the Lakers with the Pistons crowd.
oh shut up stupid. why punish the bulls for something that the Celtics did?? Jordan congratulated the pistons after they beat them in the playoffs in 88, 89, and 90. Isiah Thomas has no class. he was jealous of Jordan's fame. that's all.
Jonathan Hill Yes, it does make sense. If you watch the end of the 1984 Finals in Boston, the fans storm the court and Kareem had to throw elbows and push his way through the crowd to get off the floor. Sending the starters off was common practice thereafter. In the case of the Celtics and the Pistons, the Celtics bench at the Silverdome was all the way across the far end of the court from the tunnel to the locker rooms. So they would have potentially had to wade through the sea of fans all the way across the full length of the court to get there. Especially problematic for Bird who was loathed in Detroit and likely to take a few shots from fans.If you watch the video at the end of that game (which is on UA-cam) Pistons fans were already coming on the court and hugging players, Chuck Daly was waving fans off the court, and security guards and police came over to escort the Celtics starters off the court. They weren't doing it just to be jerks.
If you watch the 30 for 30 bad boys documentary jordan say's ," you cant hold a grudge for the rest of your life i dont think we could have won 6 titles without getting over the hump in detroit".
Can’t remember in all my yrs of watching pro basketball enjoying watching a team get shown the door more than watching the Bulls mop the floor with the bad boys
I hated jordan and the bulls as a pistons fan in this era, I truly have the upmost respect for jordan and what he has accomplished. 31 years later, I cant stop watching the GOAT
kick derel More like defiant champions. True Bad Boys to the end. They weren't going to give Chicago the satisfaction of congratulating them in their building. It's symbolic of how much the title really meant to every team in the league back then. Way too much sissy stuff these days.
A REAL champ faces the person that beat him. They let the Bulls get the best of them. The Bulls were better and there is no shame in that. I don't see any class in taking the coward way out but hey. Its your opinion✌️
kick derel Cowards? They didn't win only because the NBA changed the way the game was played, then demanded preferential treatment by officials, like the Bulls. Jordan is the greatest player to ever play, but he beat Detroit once, and cried like a little girl with a skinned knee the whole time. His gambling debts also got his dad killed. Who's the coward?
kick derel "Bad boys"? Lol!! Give me a break! They walked off like the bitches they are. They got their eyes beat in and couldn't even look their opponent in the face and shake a hand. Yes cowards, bitches, true losers. If they would have had a little more character perhaps they could have won more than 2 titles. Least of any team during their era Celtics 3 Lakers 5 Bulls 6. I realize how hard it is to win even one. That's why it's so frustrating to see a bunch of grown men who are supposed to be professionals pull such a childish stunt.
And people literally got mad at the 🐐 because he didn’t want to play on the same team with IT hell they years they beat the bulls it wasn’t a problem with shaking hands but since you got destroyed in a sweep now you can’t shake hands poor sportsmanship mj did right to get him kicked off the dream team you wanna be petty well my pettiness is going to hurt 40 years later boy
Thirty-three years and running, Isiah is still trying to justify the walkout. While for the record, Bill Laimbeer publicly acknowledged he’s the instigator. Chuck Daly is apparently not involved, rewarding him as the coach of the original Dream Team. Five seasons later, the Bulls are trying to acquire some “Bad Boys’ elements” against the up-and-coming Orlando Magic. They got Rodman, Salley, and Edwards to reinforce their frontline opposite Shaq and ex-Bull Horace Grant.
As a Bulls fan, I actually appreciate the Detroit fans. All throughout that game I didn't hear them cheer at the dirty plays from the Pistons. Then they cheered even though they lost.
I always thought the Bulls teams with Horace Grant and Paxton, were better than the later teams with Rodman and Kerr. Their records weren't quite as good, but they had better depth and balance.
No sir, for starters, Kerr was a better shooter than Paxson, Rodman was a better rebounder than Grant. The Bulls of the 2nd string of titles also had better bench. I saw both and the dominance of the 95-98 group was unreal.
There was no difference between Pax and Kerr , they both got every game winner they took, Rodman and Grant were both pretty evenly good on the team id say as far as Bulls team basketball , they just had six unreal teams anyway
Charles Taylor but I'm was never a Chicago Bulls fan but I'm not delusional to think that lebron James could've beaten Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. The Miami heat couldn't have beaten the Chicago Bulls on their best day.
The 4th talks about the 91' conference finals as well, when the Bad Boys were just "straight up bitches" for walking off the court before the game ended.
Rodman didn't start winning rebound titles till 92, the year after and kept going till 98. Dumars was an all-star in 1997!!! The Pistons were not "too old" to compete, they were merely demoralized. That hug with Thomas and McCluskey says it all - they knew their time was up. The Pistons are the Larry Holmes of NBA. Between Ali and Tyson, only Celtics/Lakers and then Bulls.
@@toddjohnson271 Detroit certainly should celebrate the two titles, but they were also beat by LA, Boston, and Chicago. Tough trajectory for history annals.

@@toddjohnson271 You're definitely missing the point. Great champions, not at legendary levels. It's been said to death why and how Detroit beat Chicago multiple times. Boston is a different story. When all four clubs played their best basketball Detroit was by far the weakest.
@@chrisdell5679 A Bird steal and horrific foul call away from possibly two more chips. Were the Celtics done in 87 ,88, 89? Yes, I'm a homer but Detroit is right in there. Just didn't have one publicized marquee player.
The turning point for the Bulls. Finally to get over the hurdle that were the Pistons who just owned the Bulls. I remember the Bulls losing to the Pistons in 7 games the season before which was the first season I started watching basketball (being only in 2nd grade). I was jumping up and down on the couch in the final seconds in delight watching the Pistons get swept. What a run this was over much of this decade. 6 titles in 8 seasons. Summer break would start and the Bulls were usually in the finals. What a way to start the break!
I love the older style of play, where everything was congested in the middle, It was more pleasing to watch, cause of the tight passes, and contested jumpers.
I hated the Pistons. They were dirty!!! They couldn't stop Jordan, so they (Pistons) had to resort to tackling the man & knocking him out of the air. The Pistons were punks....I'm glad they were swept. To hell with them
It was the 80s. Every team back then was dirty and Jordan didn’t even think the Pistons were the dirtiest team. Both Jordan and Magic Johnson agreed that the dirtiest team in the league during that time was the Celtics, with the 76ers in a close second. Jordan also called the Pistons “undeserving champions” and that they were “bad for basketball”. To blame them for walking off the court after Jordan said that is demonic and evil. Is it any wonder they walked off the court?
BOY did i absolutely HATE Dennis Rodman, i wouldnt of helped him if he was drowning. I couldn't beileive it when the BULLS had him fall into their lap in 95. He was exactly what they need. They had a very weak rebounding and defense at the 4 & the 5 spots. I changed my mind when he came to the BULLS.
For all the old heads who watched this series back in 1991 what was the energy was most people going for Jordan hoping that he would break through was the whole country asking 91 baby was still inside the womb when this was going on
The greats of the game Jordan, Kobe, LeBron etc. Each demonstrate high character for the love of the game and it's these elite player's that make the game what it is today.
Here's my take; the Pistons should have waited for the horn. They left with time on the clock. Everyone used to leave without shaking hands, Bird, Magic, whatever, but the Pistons did it with time on the clock, so they walked right past the Bulls without looking at them. Looked real bad. However, the reason they didn't shake was because Jordan and Jackson had called them dirty right before the game, when they were up 3-0. Calling a team out when you got them flat on their backs is classless too.
But the Pistons were thugs. It wasn't just about playing hard physical basketball or intimidating people from driving to the hoop; they actively tried to injure guys. Larry Bird has talked about this; it's why he hates Bill Laimbeer to this day. The Pistons had nothing on the Bulls except that mental edge; they were an inferior basketball team. Once Chicago toughened up mentally and it became a more pure basketball competition, the Pistons didn't have a chance.
David Landon Oh for sure. No argument about that haha. I just mean that Jordan and Jackson were kind of small to talk before sweeping them. They didn't take the high road like everyone says. And plus, Dumars, Salley, Johnson? Those guys were OK. Hell Salley even stayed and shook hands.
David Landon Becoming mentally tougher-and, in Jordan's case, physically tougher-was the key. The Pistons were smart and tough, but they were athletically inferior to the Bulls once Scottie Pippen blossomed into an All-Star and Jordan got some other help (Horace Grant, Bill Cartwright, etc.). The Hawks, Celtics and Lakers also had athletic edges over the Pistons back then. I agree about the Pistons being up the creek without a paddle when they and the Bulls were finally on equal mental terms.
Remenber, Isiah was better player than John Stockton. I do not think that Chris Mullen had not above Isiah. Do not forget to always believe that Thomas deserved to be there, but his problems with Jordan and Magic Johnson were decisive.
I was 11 years old and remember watching the game with my dad. I still remember him turning to me as they were walking off the court and telling me "One thing you never want to be remembered as is a poor sport." I miss spending time like that with him.

I never get tired of watching Detroit lose
This is a great example of Michael Jordan's growth mindset.
Beat down twice, but third time was the charm and with experience!
fieryrocket3555;sportsmanship was thrown OUT of the window the minute David Stern MODIFIED all the games ' defensive rules to ensure Jordan could defeat Detroit!!
Of course after getting Rodman it was a wrap
One other thing that led to him not being on the Dream Team: Stockton was a better player in '92 than Isiah was.
Do you even know why the Pistons left the court in the first place? Because Jordan dissed them before Game 4, calling the Pistons “undeserving champions” and “bad for basketball.” That’s why they left the court.
That POS didn’t give them the respect they deserved.
@@twhite3850 Turns out that baby was a Nazi I heard ,to be fair
The mid 80s to mid 90s were truly the Golden age for the NBA. Not just because my Bulls won 6 championships. But the competition of the NBA was at an all time high with unmatched agression. The Bulls, Pistons, Celtics, Lakers, 76ers, the Jazz, Trail Blazers, Pacers , Knicks, Rockets, Suns, and the Pacers were the teams to beat in those days. And none of these teams liked each other.
Sonics, Hawks, Cavs, and Hornets were tough outs as well

Salute to the Bulls long live Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen
A Bulls vs LA would of been great and possibly a passing of the torch moment but MJ went out on top.
funny rodman was dirty and ended up playing with the bulls
and chicago fans love him
There is NO 2nd three peat without Rodman ...
@Robert Phillips They would have got someone else. The 90's were stacked with talent. And Rodman wasn't a scorer. So I'm positive MJ would have won without him, specifically.
@@Wis_Dom MJ needs the Rodman's defense and rebounding
@@felixmartinez9673 And? They could have got plenty of players like that in the 90's who could have also contributed in scoring. So they would have been better than Rodman. The Bulls role players were not as great as you think as individual players. They just knew their roles as a team.

Pistons were like an unstoppable villain group slaying other teams like Boston and lakers then bulls rise against them and beat the piston and then peace was restored l
one legacy is undone while another begins. Love sports history.
People forget that the Celtics did the same thing two years earlier and they don't get heat for it. Guess it shows how much the pistons were hated
***** oh yeah that makes sense
oh shut up stupid. why punish the bulls for something that the Celtics did??
It's called Jordan bias

kick derel I'd take it over the sissy stuff that goes on nowadays. When I grew up the NBA was a man's game, played by real men.
kick derel Cowards? They didn't win only because the NBA changed the way the game was played, then demanded preferential treatment by officials, like the Bulls. Jordan is the greatest player to ever play, but he beat Detroit once, and cried like a little girl with a skinned knee the whole time. His gambling debts also got his dad killed. Who's the coward?
kick derel "Bad boys"? Lol!! Give me a break! They walked off like the bitches they are. They got their eyes beat in and couldn't even look their opponent in the face and shake a hand. The beginning of a dynasty.
After this game, how could you think Thomas would be on the Dream Team?
Who's here from the Last Dance?
I always thought the Bulls teams with Horace Grant and Paxton, were better than the later teams with Rodman and Kerr. Their records weren't quite as good, but they had better depth and balance.
No sir, for starters, Kerr was a better shooter than Paxson, Rodman was a better rebounder than Grant. The Bulls of the 2nd string of titles also had better bench. I saw both and the dominance of the 95-98 group was unreal.
Grant was better on offense then rodman but I think kucoc set that later bulls team apart
There was no difference between Pax and Kerr , they both got every game winner they took, Rodman and Grant were both pretty evenly good on the team id say as far as Bulls team basketball , they just had six unreal teams anyway
What a time for basketball.
The Bulls had lost 4 of 4 playoffs to them.

Rodman didn't start winning rebound titles till 92, the year after and kept going till 98. Dumars was an all-star in 1997!!! The Pistons were not "too old" to compete, they were merely demoralized. That hug with Thomas and McCluskey says it all - they knew their time was up.

“Straight up bitches.” - Horace Grant
The 1990-91 season and playoffs:in the conference finals, the bulls had sweep the 2-time champs Detroit Pistons in a 4-gm sweep ass-whippin'
Watching the 91 Bulls in this game is watching basketball as an art form... they definitely wanted it more, and it shows.
Rodman almost sent Scottie to the E.R. but today they call flagrant fouls on incidental contact!😂
I just watched Bill Burr and Snoop Dogg talk about this
I hated the Pistons.
Mike, kobe yes! leflop no loyalty james no!
7:46: The image that defines Isiah Thomas.
I remember Chris Webber cracking on Isiah about that.
with all the pistons celebration you would thinkd they won
News flash they were dirty
Props to Salley for shaking their hands.
Oh #Mike you knew who to play clean basketball! Usetta love those post game interviews 😂
Remenber, Isiah was better player than John Stockton. I do not think that Chris Mullen had not above Isiah. Do not forget to always believe that Thomas deserved to be there, but his problems with Jordan and Magic Johnson were decisive.
