- Yerwada Prison inmate Vijaypal Vicky Singh took on strong IM Eesha Karavade inside the prison premises. This was a friendly game that was part of FIDE and Indian Oil's Chess for Freedom Program. Check out this battle between a player whose highest career rating was 2425 versus a player who has learnt chess just 3 years ago that too inside a prison.

This guy Vijaypal showed us we are all prisoners of our own thoughts. He escaped prison a long time ago through chess. Bravo!
Well said
the fk
Sagar personally attending this event itself is good PR for this event & the guy is strong player he was not capturing free material but making optimum moves this is straight out of Guki's book. The coach was taking dig at inmates & they were also responding with laughter, such a good initiative.
Guki's book?
@@jive6463 lol. I think he is talking about how gukesh plays xd. A lot of strong players dont play materialistic chess anyway so.
Prison education programs are one of the best things that can be done by society. When the inmates have repaid their debt to society and are ready to rejoin it, they will be better placed to become productive members. Prison should be about rehabilitation whenever possible, and not just punitive.
What a heartwarming and inspiring video. And entertaining too, 25 minutes passed away like nothing watching it. To see vijaypal holding his own was so good to watch. I don't know what he did to be in prison but his journey really goes to show no one is innately a bad person and everyone deserves to be given an opportunity to take a different path.
Dam I didn't even realise it was 25 mins long. Intense battle it was. Great defensive effort with offense every chance he got.
Plot twist : He's in prison because he sacrificed his queen
😂
Good one! 😅
💀
Perfect example of 'Don't judge a book by it's cover'. He played really well 👍😊
Bro will invent Prison Gambit in future.
This is so wholesome and positive on so many levels.
Well done vijaypal and good initiative by fide , indian oil and sagar for making positive change
This was so good. I was so indulged in the game that I did not think I would be before clicking on the video. Also, Sagar's insights that they are so good because there are not many distractions there is one big reason. Unbelievable game by Pal. Kudos. At the same time, Respect to Eesha for being humble about it.
Nice to see such rehabilitation programmes !
I wonder how commentary would've been like if engines and evaluation bar weren't there.
Credits to everyone who make this happen. What a legend! And to sagar, as always who share with the rest of us!
Edit: Sagar will you please donate the YT revenue from this video to his family? That will mean so much for his family.
I really appreciate Sagar for all his efforts, pushing the players up.
This is a great and positive thing to see! Good luck to all involved!!

Positive vibe and really threating to see how
What an inspiration
Long live the @ChessBaseIndia. Love every bit of it.
beautiful game and even more beautiful story
Great great video! Outstanding efforts by the Coach, the team of Parivartan by Indian Oil, Sagar Shah for capturing it and sharing it with the rest of the world and of course the inmates who are focusing their energy and talent to do something positive and rewarding. Applause for all 👏👏

Very Good Initiative and even more to bring it to the world through your channel
How beautiful!! The whole game he moved with grace and made us all wonder who was the prisoner!
@ChessBaseIndiachannel how about creating an app for all those talented coaches, teachers.. they probably are so many talented in the dark! Just like those who showed this magician what a rook is!
Well done. True dedication.
Happy to see Chess reaching every corner of the world and most importantly, changing lives for better🧡Bhagwan bless them both🧡
Btw Tollywood movie "check" has the same plot, I never thought it will happen in real life
It was really fun watching this game.
Vijay Pal must train Don Shah 😂
Chessbaseindia gangsta!! ❤
amazing video
Ketan khaire sir do you take online chess classes? If yes please share the details
He almost beat an IM
He is talented thatz why he's in . Remark from his coach, this seems so true and if we are able to train such people in their field of interest probably we can get more good players, scientists, teachers all in all they could become great contributor to the society, we only have to make use of their intellect.
So true....feels like prison is a place to pursue ur talents otherwise bahar toh khane ke wandhe hai🥲
Hats off to Vijaypal Vicky Singh for his strong performance against IM Eesha Karavade. I admire the coaches who dedicated two to three hours of their time everyday to prisons ' inmate for 2-3 years. In Life, we make mistakes, but being human is giving others, and oneself a second chance. The work ethic, talent, and humility of this guy, Vijaypal is humbling. Good luck to you man. Shalom.
There is Beth Harmon and then there is Vijaypal Singh.
Sagarbhai must go to Yerwada Jail to be GM. He will get required time.
That's really awesome. I wonder what he is imprisoned for? I can't imagine it could have been any violent crime
Wow
22:20 💀
I am a law student I visited once in the prison because of my college field project Wonderful experience
Sagar you rock
His sentence should be reduced in half for such a good game.
Vedant Agarwal vs Sagar Shah 🔜
Really cool
This resembles a telugu movie called "CHECK"
this is a really god opportunity
bro bouta escap this prison
After 18:59 I saw Bxe6 for White - better than Qxe6. Bxe6 Bxg2; Bxf5 Be4+; Qxe4 (winning).
A chess game without time controls is just analysis. 🙃
Amazing
Actually vo talented hh isliye toh andar hai💀
Vijay pal should not given up his queen that time he should taken with bishop... Any way he is highly talented and wish him all success... Thank you sagar for this treat...
no clock in the game?
lagta hai jail jana padega ab
He is gonna come for magnus next
Who knows if someone from prison has Tal like intuition & will defeat World Champion
You mean weak IM?
Ye jail me kyu hai ??
Good human all Chess players always
Good nuances.
How come no clock?
Just a friendly match
I learned chess for 5 months and gained fide rtg of 1428
Sagar is the best commentator of all time.
Only way to get free lessons from IMs and GMs is in prison? I want to get in 😂
Maybe a Jawan style jail is unrealistic but this program seems like it can bring a positive change in the world.
Judging from this game this woman should be in prison and vijay a free man
yet he is in prison😂😜
Her attitude 🗿 Her play 🤡
Yeah like you can play better
She's an IM lol. Are you kidding me?
what crime vijay pal did to be in a prison like this and able to play chess. Asking for a friend.
Missed a mate in 1.

I don't know whom to stand for. Someone in comments say it's an inspiration, while other says 'shameful'
She obviously took it easy in the beginning not expecting him to be this strong.
It's definitely inspirational
Nothing shameful at all
Don't know about others, I'm going to stand with "Inspirational"
Everyone makes mistakes some bigger than others,, everyone deserves a second chance
What a hypocrisy game which targets to snatch the freedom of king will host the freedom program for humans which are locked up 😅😅😂😂😂😂
This girl was attracted to the bad boy🫶🏻
ye kya hai bhai🤣

I saw a movie called "check" a movie from South side of India..... the plot of that movie is same..
It's telugu movie. Atleast do some basic diggings. Would you like whole north indian industries such Hindi,Marathi,Gujarati,Bengali movies are classified into single category. Each language have representation of its own use it.
@@poohthegreatslayer yeah but I we combined call South cinema... Just like all film industries in North called North cinema... including all industries...
@@poohthegreatslayerStop coming up with excuses to get offended for no reason, all the 5 Southern states of India are anyways called the 'South India'
@@Steven_56 Just like there is only 1 industry in India called bollywood. If you don't know about your own country, who will.
@@poohthegreatslayer it's difficult keeping track of the language when you watch it in dub so he's not to be blamed.
why is he in prison?
He played the englund gambit
22:22 that's why
Shameful
Shameful... for whom..?
@@allshorts3324 Why are criminals being celebrated so much?
It has been seen that criminals who are part of the rehabilitation program tend to improve their lifestyle while the ones who are treated "like a criminal" often repeat the same crime once they are freed. But it also depends on the nature of the crime. People commiting serious crimes can often be psychopaths@@dniendkdksmd27839
@@dniendkdksmd27839if thats your IQ level then the concept of open jails will just blow your mind😂😂
@@rabri-ghewarwhat I don't understand is why are top players of India promoting chess among prisoners. And prisoners are being interviewed as if they are celebrities
Bro prison is cool wish i get this opportunity some day
Well plot story Check 2 ( south indian movie)
