I like ending videos with a loss, but it’s more just because I think it’s funny. Also I’d say 90% of the time I lose I’m getting bagged, regardless of how well I did or how lucky the 3v1 got. It is what it is
Great video Saint, people who want to see loses in invasions are weird, if 3 guys kill a single invader it's not interesting or fun, independent of the pov. I'd also like to leave a quote by the chinese philosopher Xuan Lao that I think is very relevant. "When invasion is lost, close your eyes so you don't get to see mean gestures." He died to a murky scythe in 2017.
I've actually tested this and it's true that videos with more losses do significantly worse than regular videos where you mostly win-so why wouldn't we post mostly win videos, right? Funny story, once, my channel co-host had three gankers kill him and instead of gesturing they turned their backs to him (perfectly circled around him) and started throwing roped fetid pots as if they were crapping on him. He was furious but when he sent me that clip I nearly died laughing because dear god how much practicing did that take LOL.
I don't go into invasions too win. I invade so I can show off my style and be as annoying as possible. I invade for the carnage. I always point up if someone points down at me.
I just started invading a couple days ago (because you make it look so fun, which it is). But, Yeah I got taunted after losing to a 3v1 in a dead level, which was quite discouraging. Watching this and reading these comments has already made me wanna go again though!
The best part about invading in FromSoft games is you don't really lose anything. The Souls/Runes you were carrying? Sure. But you'll get more. Just focus on becoming better for yourself. For your own fun and satisfaction. Then, one day, you'll demolish your first 3-man gank squad, and there will be no turning back.
It's definitely hard when the weapons you want to use for invasions, aren't really optimal to taking down a trio; or even my own build. Sucks losing every invasion consecutively.
Saint in his early days explained the greatest part of invasions like this. He basically said that most players like us don’t really have to much trouble or challenge from doing pve anymore, but beating a gank squad brings you great reward like how you felt the first time you beat a challenging boss. It also changes the way you play pve from here on out.
@@chriskotte8468 100% with that part about playing pve differently after invading, I've played all the titles but demon souls, only got into the PvP when Elden ring came out. Went back to do another run in bloodborne and it was such a different experience compared to when I played it years ago.
I understand very well what you mean by playing for fun vs to win. When I invade doing and using what I know is out of meta, and I end up losing, I do still get mad... But when I win using meta setups and strategies, those wins feel "empty", so I end up not enjoying myself xD Even if I win just 50% of my invasions, winning them fighting HOW I WANT, having fun playing my build enacting how I envisioned it in my mind, makes up for the 50% invasions I lose
Usually only get mad if I feel like I've messed up, or let a great opportunity slip away, but that's just competitive nature. Best to not get too up or too down about things, and play another round win or lose. The idea is to have fun, or get some sort of enjoyment out of it. One really good win is worth a few dead level ganks or lonely duellists.
06:20 help, ive been stuck here for 3 hours. Saint keeps telling me to go back, and i do, but then i get back to where i left off and he tells me to go back again. I cant get out of the loop! Please! Send help!
Never got into elden ring pvp, but loved ds3 pvp. When there was a quality gank squad you had to be really lucky and have quality co invaders. Sometimes a win could only be measured in how many estus flasks i could get the gank squad to use up.
I play on pc with a dualshock 4 and I used steam’s controller layout customization shit to set up a bind on the touchpad, where if I click and hold the touchpad for 1.5 seconds it forcequits the game. I use this to quickly leave invasions if I’m facing just purely obnoxious bullshit- overleveled phantoms, dual vykes/pikes/nagis, literal blatant cheating. I mentioned this on reddit and I got downvoted to hell, and people were calling me a coward and a sore loser. No, I get 3 hours of freetime on most days and I don’t want to spend half of it getting irked at the game I enjoy. There’s a difference between “the host has a numbers advantage for flasks, stats, and allies, and it’s my job to find a way to overcome that,” and “the host is level 60 but his buddies are level 600 and they’re using stars of ruin and full bull goats, there is literally no way I can win this except through pure luck.” Gankers are not entitled to my time and since I can pretty confidently predict that they’ll be teabagging, pointing down, dropping poopy pots, etc. when I lose, I really don’t feel any obligation to give them the satisfaction at my own expense. Sometimes it’s best to just say “you know what? Nah.” and just leave. Idgaf what they think, they’re not worth my time.

Also the trailers had proper AC. I'm not flexing just pointing out the differences in my experience.
I like seeing losses bc it shows that the person is real. Steelovsky did a video a while back where he lost in AC 6 to Boles like 15-3 but he only showed his wins and framed it like he was the "god gamer"
That's not how it was framed at all, but keep crying. Steel loses all the time, even against scrubs mashing r1's out of hit stun. The low IQ like you will only see what they want to see.
“These guys think they’re good, and I can’t allow that” Perfect summation for when that switch does flip. It’s rare but there are times when the gankers just need to be humbled
The only time rudeness gets to me is when I craft an exquisitely lore-friendly or very unique build, and all I get from the other players is toxicity. I'm fine with confusion, players not even understanding the gimmick, even a clap or fistbump in good faith after getting yanked, that's great stuff. Pure vitriol however is just disappointing. i do think that some people genuinely believe that they should have the same success rate at duelling a person as they do at fighting that same person plus their phantom(s) in an invasion, and that's obviously not true. but the concept of a "gank" is derived from situations in multiplayer games where you have Literally Zero Chance. People often misuse the term in this game, but literally any meta build group of three in a low level area, or even a decent sub meta group on a radahn beach type area... that often does qualify as unwinnable for the majority of players, ESPECIALLY those who make fun experimental builds. "Balance" does not mean "perfectly equal". Obviously that's not what's fun. Balance means creating an experience with a consistent identity and flow, rather than one where the optimal move is often to waste time and do as little as possible.
