When picking my TV's height off the floor I realized that the recommended "eye level" suggestions from the internet made the view from the kitchen of the bottom of the screen blocked by the "eye level" heads of people sitting on the couch. I stuck an above average height person on the couch, went into the kitchen and sighted just above thier head to the wall where the TV was going to mount, and that's how I picked the bottom of my screen. Moral of the story is to consider all possible viewing locations before installing blocking and/or drilling holes.

This is though, because some firnature puts us in a reclined position. That makes it hard to guage what "eye level really is.
The degree of recline can be the degree of angle above the eye level line in straight position!
This is called video sweet spot

I have a 55" TV and my sitting position on my sofa is around 20' to 25'. So I'm asking what is the best height for my TV from the bottom and center using a full motion mount? My eye level sitting on the sofa is 42". Thank you!

Let the eye level be in the center of your TV. In case your sofa reclines at the back then make sure to use the same reclining angle beyond 90 degrees to take your TV height upwards.

Yes you can use that rule. Also, try to keep a tilt angle for TV. You get those special mounts. So in case you feel its going too high, you can always tilt it down
