- We are really doing it! We are crossing from the Canary Islands to the Carribean. Now we just need to get through the thousand and one boat jobs and stock Teulu up with enough food to last four people a month and we should be all set. Right! Right?

About Us
We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane.
However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on.
We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit
#sailing #boatlife
Instead of just talking about it, you guys are doing it!
So much respect for your work ethic and guts to take on such a huge adventure.
Good luck and stay safe!
It’s been a lot of work (fun work) to get to this point! Thanks 😊
Pro tip never use cable ties for nets or other long term out door load bearing things if you have to for some odd reason use at least 2 on each end ,one being slightly looser than the other. it is better to use 550 or small spectra to tie things up and also for hard things like the caribener to the mast if soft shackels are out of the budget just use a loop doubled through the mast hard point then clip the caribener to that so it makes a shock absorber. also for every hose possible and every seacock hose use 2 hose clamps (jubalees) and if at all possible put them 180 degrees out and reversed from each other for max durability that way one clamp failure does not make a crisis at the worst possible time.
Amy and Rory crossing the Atlantic in the Teulu TARDIS! Go kids go!
Thankfully we didn’t come across many aliens (just Becka) 😉
@@TeuluTribe 😂😂😂
Ok now it begins! Awesome guys! This is what I've been waiting for to see 😀
More to come! 😃
A real milestone. Congratulation. I must admit I thought you had a water maker aboard. Hope that is in the plan. BTW, electrician's side cutters are better at zip ties than scissors. Also, never buy cheap zip ties. Be sure that they say on the packet UV inhibited, outdoor installations etc. You usually have to buy them from a proper electrical supply shop not just the local ironmonger.
Not yet but we are hoping to get one soon 😊 Thanks for the advice, I’ll look into getting a pair.
We are so excited to see you living your dream! We can't wait to see more.
More to come! 😄
I’m so happy so excited for you guys what a awesome journey !!
It’s getting even more exciting next week!
You both are such an inspiration! Much love xo
Cheers 😁
Good luck you guys. What an adventure!
Thanks 😊
Hello captains, I newly found you, and I’m very happy. Thank you for detailed preperations for atlantic crossing. God bless you..
What a cool people. So happy to find your channel ! Cheers from Bulgaria!
Welcome aboard Ivan 😊
Awesome, been watching you for nearly a year now!! WOW you have learned so much. Can’t wait for next couple of episodes.
Thanks for following for so long! It’s hard to believe it’s only been a year…. Not long to wait now!
Another new adventure to add to your vessel log, excellent preparation and well thought out cant wait to watch the next part of this adventure but remember to enjoy the crossing and have fun!
Cheers David! We will 😊
Thanks for sharing your story
My pleasure!
So happy for you all enjoy
Thank you 😆
What a great episode great camera work, fantastic fixing everything guy's be safe on your journey with your new crew 🤙🏾
Much appreciated! 😊
Watching you prepare for the crossing was amazing. Such organization and such a long list of things to do. La Vagabonde was the first channel I started following 8-9 years ago. They just didn't have the stuff that is available today. More seat of the pants. You guys have done a wonderful job, just what you have for safety is excellent. And of course Becka up the mast 3 or 4 times. 🙂
Wow looks exciting crossing the Atlantic, another brilliant episode guys have fun, thinking of you doing your crossings ⛵️⛵️⛵️⛵️
It’s definitely exciting, just a lot of preparation!
I'm excited - big passage!
No long now 😊
Nice to see how far you have come since your first tentative steps in sailing, looking forward to following your journey
Thanks for following along 😊
I wish you a fun, relaxing and drama free passage. Bon voyage.
Thank you! 😃
Your crew mates seem lovely have a safe trip 😊
They are! Thanks 😊
Fabulous. Fair winds & Following seas, enjoy!
Thank you! Will do!
Oh the excitement builds. Planning will make things so much easier to handle when things hit little road blocks. You guys got this for sure. Cheers
Thanks 😊
Fantastic video throughout
Glad you think so Jack! Thanks for joining us.
Well done guys another great episode
Cheers John!
Great work.
Thank you! Cheers!
Looking foreword to watching the passage!
Not long now 😊
FairPlay to you both, you seem to tackle all maintenance tasks on the boat with impressive competency
Thanks James. It doesn’t always feel like that 😂
OMG 😱 WOW ‼️ That was a ton of work👍🏻 Time for some sailing fun. ✨ 🌊 💨 ⛵️ 🏝 👙 🌞 ✨
Good Luck guys! That's alot of chickpeas!
We love our hummus 😍
Fearless, fun and funky people 😊😊😊
Haha thank you 😂
Off in thd high seas.. can't wait.
No long 😊
Wowza…Ya Folks have come along quite a lot in a short time😜 Continue to Stay Safe and Enjoy😎
We will! Thanks Steven 😄
Well done. I suspect you are well recovered from the crossing. May your time in the Carib be fun. Fair winds.
We are definitely fully recovered now 😊 Thanks Bob!
Matt seems like such a lovely addition to the crew. Very lucky find☺️
He’s a lovely lad 😊
Well done . See you next week.
Thanks, see you then 😁
You are amazing. Have an uneventful trip. See you soon 😊🌹
Thank you! 😃
Very good, experienced and competent your colegue! Did hi do not what's to prepare a S.V. in Mexico in April. West side. Bacharach California. São Carlos.
So excited to see the crossing! !!!!!!!!!
Not long now!!
@@TeuluTribe today?? 😁😁
Have a safe passage!
Thanks 😊
we get just tiny glimpses of people you meet in your travels. The taxi driver after the food shop is for sure the sort of guy I'd have a beer or 5 with.
He was a lovely lad 😊
Oh my goodness I am so glad I logged on to your channel. I have a last wish to sail the Atlantic from Spain to the Caribbean as I saw on a 360' 50' beam 3 master brig rigged beautiful sailing vessel and hope to be doing it next late fall.. Nov.. I have always loved sailing from youth with family many summer vacations to meeting my wife on one of 6 week long rides on a wonderful schooner on the Penobscot Bay of Maine. Met my wife of 3 decades and two fine kids later. I can't wait to watch your journey. Life is an Adventure soooo LIVE IT😁
Welcome aboard Bill! We wish you all the best for your crossing, its an incredible experience 😊 Plenty more adventuring to come.
Nice thanks x
You’re welcome 😊
Nicely Done Crew!! For future reference. Banjo bolts are fairly common at truck and heavy equipment repair shops. You can always make one.
Thanks for the info James, I’ll keep that in mind next time 😊
Looks like you are ready to go!
Almost!
Me and my wife can’t wait until we have our boat. The part she’s looking forward to the most is lists ….. she loves a good list to check off. Seriously on a Smonday ( the Sunday that should be relaxing but you’ve got school clothes to wash and lunch boxes to prep so you have at least half a chance Monday morning ) I get them all over my fridge. I made the mistake of filling in the ticks in for her once 😔 … I’ve learnt my lesson since
Hopefully we’ll see you on the water someday! Smonday I like that 😂 Best not to touch them again haha.
Would love to know if you guys managed the boat? Kids and all, such a dream but with 3 kids and a dog maybe far away lol
Wow! You two have come a long way since buying your beautiful boat.
Thanks Nick, we can’t believe it’s only been a year!
Excellent video!! you guys are like old hands at this now it seems, Im sure you guys have talked about this already but.....having a new crew on board for the first time, don't forget to keep your politeness in check, nothing will ruin a passage more then not getting along......I see many years of sailing in your guys future :)
Thanks 😊 We’ll make sure that we stay polite. I hope so!
Be safe and good luck
Cheers 😄
Ohhh so excited to see this leg
Not long to wait 😊
Great video guys
Thanks for watching 😊
Flipping heck your bloody doing it lol
We are definitely bloody doing it 😊
I warned you about those zip ties guys , Zac has great reflexes . good luck on your crossing .
We are about a month and a half ahead of this footage so change takes a while. Thanks Mike 😄
I would use black parachute cord (UV protection) instead of plastic zip ties. Parachute cord would have supported your net vegetable bag on your stern - great stuff.
"there's yellow pain ton the mast here where's that come from?" looks down at yellow harness 😂
If i were you, I would remove the „tender to“ from the dingy. Beeing in the Caribic, this is an invitation. People then assume the your boat is alone. You can search and find multiple examples…
Thats a good point, thanks for the heads up Thomas!
Looking forward to the vlogs covering your Atlantic crossing 😊
Also glad you took on extra crew for this crossing.
Not long now 😊
I love your nets :)
Haha thanks Peter 😅
Busy, busy guys. 9.10 remember righty tighty, lefty loosey….. great prep a d good to have crew to make watches and the trip easier. Andy UK
It wasn’t my finest moment 😅 Having crew made the watches soooo much easier!
excellent
Thanks!
Ready to travel with y’all
Thanks for joining 😊
It is so enjoyable watching your videos and also it's difficult to understand how you know so much.
how did you learn all of what you are doing to prepare your boat
How exciting……save travels
Thanks 😊
On you jack line. If you heat a piece of metal hot and use it to melt it in two it will leave a very clean end that won’t fray.
Thanks for the advice 👊
Wow Sailor 👍
😊
Great to see you now have a Sea-worthy boat to transport you across the great briny. That was some epic workload. I'll bet you are all well chuffed with yourselves. Looking forward to next week, to see your sea crossing. I hope the weather stays nice for you. i.e. Winds from the East, to blow you on your way.
It was so nice ticking things off 😄 No long to wait now, we’ve got loads of sailing content.
Looks like you got to Rivière Sens... if I got the right no. ending in 24 (!?) Hope you had a good sail! Congrats and have fun!!
Looking forward to getting on the water again when it’s a bit warmer... (we had a night sail from Göteborg (S) to Aalborg (DK) a few weeks ago in a 32 footer... it was quite chilly, like ice in the fjord and destination harbour!)
We are indeed 😊 That sounds absolutely freezing, it’s hard to imagine weather like that at the moment. Thanks Robin!
best of luck
Cheers 😊
Just finished the Bingewatch, hard work but what an adventure 😅. On to the Caraïben 😊
Hope you enjoyed it! 😊
Sure did😊
You need to separate your onions and your potatoes. Keeping them together will make them spoil faster!
Thank for the info, we learned this the hard way 😅
Still on my list, crossing.
Do it 😁
Good time to look at fermenting your own greens and vegetables. Safes a lot of money. just water, salt and whatever you want.
Good tip! We’ve been meaning to look into this.
The only advice I’d give you…hahahahah, just kidding. Have a great sail. What an epic!
Haha thanks 😂
5:33 hahhahaha ALL the chocolate in this frame is EPIC!!! 13:54 You should sell that Medical list to the none patreons. Looks amazing!
Why the non patreons
Chocolate is the best in crossings ❤️ We spent a lot of time researching what you need!
love canaries
Us too 😄
be careful with those glass bottles you showed in storage. You may want to put a sock around them or something to prevent them from breaking in bad weather or store them more carefully
We had them packed in there. Luckily non of them broke!
I'm so glad u made it!!!!!! Awesome ur real Sailors Now, I'm extremely relieved. Welcome aboard Crew. Zach an Becka are fabulous people please be kind to them. 🇬🇧🇦🇺👍👌🌈😲 That was a very thorough preparation, very proud of u all. Becka u keep astounding me with ur energy and go Girl attitude, good onya Captain, lets go cross an ocean, ur bloody doing it!!! Luv yas later.
Thanks for your lovely comment as always 😊 They always makes our days!
Totally impressed with your organisational skills. Whatever happens no one can say you weren't prepared 👍👍👍👍
Cheers Pete 😄
I weirdly feel like I’m accomplishing things while I watch you cross off items on your list
Love that! Thanks for watching 😊
Whew!
So much water, just in case, eh? (yup, good job!)
I'm bummed that wasn't able to tell you about Bear in time to be helpful, he might have been able to show you the best of Las Palma and the lava flows.
I won't be able to give you any helpful hints about the Caribbean, never been there, but if you have plans for the US coast or the Western Pacific I might have some info for you. Have fun!
You can never have enough…unless it sinks the boat I guess 😅 That would have been lovely, I’m sure we’ll make it over to the US at some point!
Hi guys you're walking the walk your not just talk !! Save sailing Peace
Thanks 🙏
I'm very late to this, but if you're trying to preserve shelf life, do not store onions and potatoes together! Onions will produce a gas that causes potatoes to spoil earlier. Maybe this can be helpfull to someone checkin all the old vids like me :)
Hi Guys love you both amazing video once again this amazing video next one even better 200% support you and channel hope can be friends
Hi Bethaney! Thank you so much for your lovely comment, anyone who supports us is a friend of ours 😊
@@TeuluTribe great so glad i can support you along your journey thanks for having me on board 😊👍
You don’t want to use impact guns on anything, unless you know it’s been apart recently and was greased. They’re brutal and you can’t beat a spanner or a socket with a ratchet to feel for the thread. Watch tyre fitters and how they treat locking wheel nuts.
Bon voyage and keep safe guys. What an adventure! ❤️
Thanks for the advice Bernie, I’ll make sure not to use one next time! 😊
Cheers 😄
Amazing video ! Why do you remove all the papers around cans and bottles ? Also if I can, why taping the bolts on the mast ? So much content in this video, my mind has too many questions ahah
Thanks !
The fastener on your furling drum is a Torx, not an allen. I know, sometimes you have to use what you have on hand.
Thanks for the help 😄
I like how you make your capital H's. Like backwards N's !
Stop making y missus climb the mast pal you scared of heights. Great video you guys keep it up
She is much braver than me! Thanks Mark 😊
Somebody on board really likes chocolate!
Everyone on board liked chocolate 😉
Becka.
My daughter loves your Helly Hansen off shore gear. Looked on their website but can’t find it!! How old is it? And what’s the design.
Another great episode. You two are the only ones on UA-cam worth watching! Xx
It’s quite old gear so you might not be able to find it anymore, I got it second hand. I wish I could be more help…sorry! You’re very kind David ☺️
Thank you.
I shall keep an eye on eBay.
Just going to watch your latest edit. 😊
The netting looked fine. It's not like anyone is going to see it.
Preparing is the most important when you are in trouble. My thinking is more preparing make you less spending time & hard ship. Good Luck.
Soooo much Oat milk. That's crazily expensive. I'm pretty sure I saw a nutribullet on your boat. You should make it yourself. Just oats, water, blended in your bullet and a muslin cloth. Nothing is wasted as you can use the oats after.
Luckily the oat miles were only 0.80c each! We do this occasionally but it’s not something you want to be doing all the time on a crossing.
@00:41 Please don't take your "last meal"...😉 Postpone it as long as possible.🤣
We wanted to have a nice meal out before we left, we’ll try and postpone it as long as possible 😅
All that chafe protection you added will trap salt water and speed up corrosion.
Thanks for the heads up. We removed it when we reached the other side of the Atlantic 😊
what are key factors that a boat needs to be for offshore use?
Interested to know which insurance company offered you cover. As you are fairly new to as am i, having some info would be great. Cheers and have a gr8 time.
We were with Curtis Marine 😊
Looking at all the food and thinking not enough chocolate.
There’s never enough chocolate 😍
