We CROSSED the BAY OF BISCAY six months after buying a sailing boat

- Having just arrived in Brest from Falmouth the previous day, it was a quick turnaround when our weather window for the bay came. 2 days, 8 hours and over 300 miles later, we arrived in Gijón after quite the adventure.
We bloody did it!

About Us
We are Becka and Zach, a couple who, in 2020, dreamt of sailing off into the big blue. Trouble is- we were in a pandemic, had a university degree to finish, on a student budget, only had ever sailed dingies, oh and didn’t have a boat. The dream seemed not only unrealistic but pretty insane.
However, we worked hard, finished our degrees, worked as many hours as physically possible, saved with all our might, got experience and in March 2022 bought our very own sailboat, Teulu. Having little sailing experience and being a young couple, we have encountered a tonne of hurdles and made plenty of mistakes! but for every downfall, there has always been a reason to dust ourselves off and carry on.
We hope you can join us as we sail around the world and keep #bloodydoingit
#sailing #boatlife
One the best things of your videos are Becka's face when talking about accomplishment, happiness and excitement. Congratulations guys!
Haha i am pretty transparent 😅

Aw Paul, we are so glad you can be here with us, along for the crazy ride 😊
Awesome guys… hubby and I love watching you both, great entertainment for a couple;e of pensioners , we’re hooked !!!
Well done you two! Crossing Biscay is quite an accomplishment and entering a foreign port in the dark is also quite a challenge. Great to see your confidence and ability growing with each episode.
Thanks! Its definitely growing 😊
its amazing to see how far you've come in a short space of time? Your journey has started. Good luck and fair winds.
We still can’t believe it ourselves! Thanks Pete 😁
I did Biscayne a few months ago as well with my brother……first crossing for us as well.. amazing feeling right ? Hats off for you guys ….nice editing and well done 👏
You've grown so much as sailors in such a short period of time - great to hear your confidence so high :0)
Thank you 😊 We are feeling more confident than ever!
Great video. It looked like you ran water into your tank filler directly from the water source. Would highly recommend you buy/build an inline water carbon filter, at a minimum, and get in the habit of using it. The first time you don't and get some nasty water in the tank, you will regret it. Never trust the source when the filter system is cheap and easy to build. If you put a valve on it, you get added convenience of controlling the flow at the filler end. Cheers.
Good advice!
Thanks Joel, we’ll have a look into that 😊 We current have a filter on our drinking water tap.
Hey Becka & Zak, what an achievement. You have gone from zero to blooming hero in next to no time! A boost to you confidence born out of your dedication, hard work, passion … & guts; you are really on the way to explore the world. As you say - you ‘bloody did it’!! We are now hooked in following your adventure. Love from Ella’s parents
Hey guys, thank you so much for your kind words. It’s so nice to hear from you two! We’ve definitely come a long way since we last met. Hopefully we will see you two on the water again at some point 😊

Im just one soul out here in the vast UA-cam community. But your videos have the potential to make a difference in a person's daily life and that is fairly powerful when you stop to think about it.

Yes, you did it! Good on you.
this is so great, remember when i said you are the captain and you make the decisions, now that you have done a crossing I hope you understand more fully what it really means to be a captain. You're the captain now! Congrats!
Thanks so much!
Well done to you both, I remember the feeling well when I did my first solo away flight in a Cessna, just like you I just couldn’t believe it, best feeling eve. You should be so proud the both of you.
It really is a surreal and incredible feeling! Thanks Andy 😊
I am awestruck as to how much one needs to know to sail a vessel. I will put it a different way, Sail a vessel well. Both of you have achieved that and a dream that so many others cannot do and thank you. Your journey only just begun and there will be more things thrown at you for the first time. Your attitudes and experience and ability to work together will prevail. Looking forward to adventures in Spain. Cheers
Thats such a lovely comment, thanks Stephan, it sure is a journey- one with many ups and down but beautiful nonetheless 😊
Well done; a great achievement. A really well put together video too.
Thanks Steph! 😊
Again I say, huge huge huge congratulations to you both… a seriously impressive feat - well done indeed and to come into a foreign port at night and in difficult weather makes it even more amazing…. I for one am super proud of you both (even though we have never met!) and can’t help but think if I could have done what you have done when I was your age - probably not!!
Cheers Andrew! It definitely wasn’t the easiest port entry we have done 😅 I’m sure you could have done it too.
Well done, great crossing and you handled it all superbly. Enjoying the content from NZ 🙂
Thanks Josh 😊
You have quickly become one of my favourite sailing channels. ⛵️ The detail of the sailing is better than most other channels.
I love watching your enthusiasm and frustration and overcoming fears to accomplish long held dreams. So many firsts in such a short time.
We bought our own yacht only a week ago. A Carter 30. Owning my own boat has been a dream since I was 17. I am now 64. We have many firsts ahead of us, and you both are such an inspiration.
Aw Kerry, we are so happy you can be here, living through it with us 😊 Congrats on your boat, thats incredibly exciting. Hopefully see you on the water one day!
well done Kerry! Like you, I have a dream in my early 20's that one day I wud own my own yacht. Bought an RL34 5 yrs ago, then upgraded 2 yrs ago to a Catalina C380 and have been fulltime liveaboard cruisers since.
Well done! Love the video
This is my favorite episode so far. You guys are doing it!
Cheers 😊
Happy bunny here. There it was, had to wait all they say until the end. You bloody did it.
Seriously well done to both of you.
Cheers Darin 🐰
Another great video.
As others have said, it's gone so fast...just shows what focus and determination can achieve.
Keep on moving forward 💪
It’s crazy how fast it’s gone, thanks Marc 💪🏼
Yes just so proud of your achievements on this epic voyage of discovery 😀
Awww thank you Jim 😁
Great film. Beautiful journey. Enjoyed Tommy Cooper trying to make a cup of tea!
Thanks 😊 It definitely wasn’t my finest moment haha.
A massive well done to the both of you - huge achievement :)
Thanks 😊
Well done, the first crossing beyond coastal waters!👏👌
The boat surely can take it when sailed right, and that's precisely what you did.🤗 Apart from the tea that is...🤣
Haha the tea was a disaster 😅
I am so proud of you both, I know you are learning so much more off cam but I wish that if I was your age I took up sailing and had the guts and passion that you have and where it may have possibly taken me. Stay safe you two and fair sees. xx
Thank you Steve! It’s never too late x 😊
Sort of envious of both of you for doing what i always dreamt about ... love you both stay safe and take care of each other and you will last a life time happy xx
Thank you Richard 😁
You two have done so well love it
Thanks Tim!
Well done you two, fantasstic achievement full of learning I bet!
Thanks Russ!
You guys are DOING IT!!! you know what your doing, don't let your nerves make you rethink your plans and stay true to your wants in this life, we only get one, YOU GUYS ARE AWSOME :)
I won something ?
We are!! Thanks so much Joe 😊
Outstanding, especially the last leg, approaching a strange lee shore at night, . Thst'd give anyone some nerves, however experienced you are. Also, excellent call on leaving when you did, big systems piling into the bay leave nasty sea states for ages afterwards. It's all to do with some very weird counter currents you get along the continental shelf drop-off. Crossing that area as quickly as possible is a very good thing, as it's definitely a Place Where Bad Things Happen. All the best ...
Thanks Roger- yes, we can definitely see that!
First time I stumbled across your channel, I thorougly enjoyed it. I could feel the excitement! My husband and I learned to sail and bought a 23ft practise boat this summer. Planning to leave sweden in a few years 🤞
Thank you Becky! Hopefully we will see you out on the water at some point 😊
Great achievement getting in to port safely at night. Really impressed with the sailing capabilities of the ketch. Getting to warmer seas always good.
Thanks John. Teulu loves some down wind sailing 😍
Congratulations, love the videos
Thanks Mike!
great job guys , well done!
Thanks Billy!
Congratulations both you have done a brilliant job well done 👍👍👍👍
Thanks Stuart 😊
Congrats! This is a really fantastic channel!
Thanks so much Johan 😊
Nice to see sailing action.
Ur Bloody Doing It!!!! Well u Bloody Did It!!! Bravo Becka, Zach well done, we are so proud of ur first Nautical passage completed safely. Uve got a very strong, capable boat, and ur both just gorgeous. 🇦🇺🌈🤣🐳💙❤💜
We definitely blood did it 😅 Thank you for your kind words 😍 🐳
Well done you two;)
Thanks you two 😁
@Teule Tribe this is the 1st video of yours that I have watched and I really enjoyed it. I look forward to some binge watching to catch up on your sailing story. Congrats on completing a fairly big sail for novice sailors. New sub. Good luck with the channel.
Thanks for being here! Glad you enjoyed the vid 😊
Well done to you guys. Another tick. Nicely done. On a masthead boat the genoa is the power and the main is giving you pointing ability. It’s really about feeling the helm to determine the balance so knowing if you have weather help or lee helm but looks like you are working it out fine and reefing early is much better than too late. Nice to see you with Sail Life yesterday. Andy UK
Thanks Andy! Yes, definitely learning to manage the weather helm especially!
Hey guys, love your experience on camera, it is truly a great feeling/ sense of achievement to cross big bays or oceans. My big tip, listen to advise (even if you ignore it) and keep up your sleep. Good luck
Hey Jonathan, thanks for watching and for the advise 😊
Many congratulations on your great achievement. As others have said you are learning fast. Teulu is a fine ship and I for one am plesed to see you take personal safety so seriously. The world in now your oyster!
Thank you Chris 😃
Well done Kids and congratulations. Tell you what. Your videos are getting exponentially better all the time and this video was in a class equal to Delos and La Vagabond. Believe me I know, because I've been watching them since near the time they started their youtube channels.
Keep this quality of story telling and videography going and I can see your channel growing into something big.
Thats such a kind comment. Wow. Thanks so much!
You did it!!! You bloody did it!!!
Haha cheers Jules!!
Wow, bloody brilliant!
