The gearing sounded great. I would love to see a follow up 2 years later report. You could run a centrifugal clutch on the engine which would soften the blow a little if the stall is high enough. Also, you could put a friction device between slider and sprocket (two friction disks separated by a spring) on each side of the slider so as it moves over towards the sprocket, the friction device contacts first urging rpm towards a match the rpm one to another. A synchronizer of sorts. A rubber hub in the one or two sprockets would make for softer engagement as well.

So sick been watching you from around the 30k mark you have really inspired me with different things your gs500 buggy build was the best since I brought a Honda cb200 homemade buggy which needed work and you gave me inspiration to go out and do it and I have finished it today I made my own dashboard and everything looks really clean now goes quick aswell I live in England and I brought it near the winter so only got to ride it twice before it was wet and muddy. Now it’s coming towards the summer and am so excited going out on a ride tonight gonna do some racing around the fields!!! Great video new go pro is sick and nice editing!

i built a similar transmission and found that making the ratios closer together stopped them from grinding and allowed for easy shifting, my overall ratio for first is 6:1 and my second gear overall ratio was 4.5:1. This ratio is form output of driven torque converter pulley to rear axle. I am currently playing around with first gear ratio to get better acceleration and still be able to shift smoothly

Sure he is. He could use this principle for example (ua-cam.com/video/k0-Gd4PYR_o/v-deo.html), but you are very limited with space and efficiency when it comes to chain drive.

    • @parkerbirch1635

ALL old Motorcycles pre- early 70's from Harley and bikes made in England had a small separate transmission, maybe something off one of those? (they had more power than a silly edger motor?) ALSO - check your transmission, the pins and the slots, they may have some burs or rough spots that need "wearing in" before things will smoothe out?(or you may need to fine-sand and polish all those parts?) also possibly you may need to re-engineer one of the bell-cranks in the linkage? it seems to shift the one direction easy, but get jammed to go from 2nd to 1st, maybe one rod is going over center and the bell-crank needs to be cut and clocked and re-welded and the push-pull rod lengthened or shortened........

    • @Vein1986
      @Vein1986 6 років тому

Profile of those pins and holes isn't best. It is simple, but its prone to "jerkiness" and grinding, profile of teeth should not be round.

I am not sure if this would work, but it might give you another way, on the farm where I grew up a lot of our machines had a gear that had [ like a lighting tooth around it ] they were pretty easy to engage, and they can be spring loaded, that might help too, look around and see if you can find some, I wish I could remember which machines it was, but that was way back in 1960, so they might not even make them anymore, keep up the great work anf forget about video quality, it is more than what you need.

I just binge watched all 6 vlogs and your build is awesome.
As a Coast Veteran helo Flt. Mech, my first pre C.G job was as a professional Ironworker welder and growing up I helped my Dad build a homemade aircraft I can say your engineering abilities are outstanding.
For 35 years since my enlistment was up I've been a professional jukebox and arcade / pinball game tech. doing board level repairs.
Whoever you took your computer to is incompetent if it has taken more than a week to repair it.
Many modern arcade games have had full on computers in them since the late 90's.
The first were the countertop touchscreen games.
I had to teach myself how to repair them.
Ooh, the jackass who called you a lier in reply to someone else's comment is one clueless looser.
You're right up there with Mustie1 as a watchable channel.
It's why I decided to sub your channel.
I've no doubt you could build a tubing framed homebuilt aircraft from plans.
How about a Jurca West 3/4 or full scale P51, FW190 or a Spitfire from Marcel Jurca's plans.

Needs tack and speedometer & oil pressure gauge, to make sure engine doesn't get too hot, might need to build air scope for it to cool it down in the summer time for longer pulls. And a horn maybe. If its going to be on the road might as well put signals on it and maybe a reverse gear? And definitely seat belt and harness. Arm rest and cup holders with a cooler rack would be nice for cool beverages on it in the front too. Traveling at those speeds on the road or trail will need front brakes too. Going to have to get it registered for licensing, to run on the road all the time. Make it a daily driver.

The highest FPS you should be using for your videos is 24-30, you only need a higher frame rate if you're doing slow motion shots. In fact higher frame rates decrease the sense of speed in a video when played back in real time. Most computers won't handle 4k resolution, most people's internet won't either, which is why most UA-cam videos are 1080p

Why not spot weld some valve springs and make a synchronizer ring around the housing on the Outer Rim,. As long as you're using a decent material it should work pretty much like your synchronizer in a manual gearbox... Then again there is that CVT.

Why not use a manual clutch? They're a little expensive (around $100) but they seem well built and perfect for this application. I think you can get one on ebay

Is the rear axle endure enough bro? Had experience with that fixed rear axle in ATV, they're just broken after doing couple maneuver. Can you please make a DIY video of a modified rear axle differential for go kart or ATV? Appreciate your work bro, keep it up!

Not bad! Have you considered a motorcycle engine with a ready made transmission and focused on a reverse gear transaxle instead?

Change the springs in your torque converter for higher engagement RPMs. You'll be pleased!

Maybe you could try using a clutch and the drive gear from a dirtbike.. Great video and congrats on the 100K

Honest question, why don't you use a snowmachine engine, or 250 2 stroke dirtbike engine? That way you'd either have a cvt, or 5-6 speed sequential gearbox+clutch.

Maybe I missed, have you considered the used motorcycle engine (with integrated gearbox)? It should not be more expensive than the new engine you used ... There are plenty of air and liquid cooled engines.
You can get here the complete motorcycle with a good engine for 400 Eur ($450) with 400-700cc (1-2-4 cyl) with embedded gearbox and all-all you need to run it (obviously as it's a complete motorcycle :) ). If you are lucky to get the enduro, you can even use the front fork legs to build long travel suspension.

I went with the hero 5 which does 1080p at 120fps, however, image stabilization only works with 60fps I think, I always record at 120fps. It creates files using the h264 codec vs the h265 the hero6 puts out. For what I do, the hero5 was plenty and makes slow motion stuff look really nice.
