i normally shoot high eighties, i just found a pretty good deal on a 425 crossover 3 iron and i looooooove it! feel confident over the ball, feels great, goes straight, quickly becoming my favorite club
Love the roll up and down the slope for the chip in! Bet you were happy that went in! Just put a second-hand G Series Hybrid in the bag and super happy with it, whilst it's not the crossover can't believe the confidence that it gives. Never thought I could hit a hybrid, but thought it was just worth a go. It's made me think of crossovers as well!
Couldn't agree more Simon, I play off 4 , never really used hybrids until a few years ago, but couldn't get on with them. Any time I hit a hybrid, it was a pure left machine. Bought the same ping club you have, g30 crossover 3 iron, but stiff flex.. won't ever get rid of it. Can hit it straight as an arrow and a good distance. Playing partners often ask me what it is, I just say its like a strong 3 iron, then always say that it was the best buy I ever made. Great club
You had me at 60 mph swing speed! Will keep an eye out for one of these in senior flex. But if that is not available, Wilson makes the similar Launch Pad Women's chunky iron with a swing weight of C8 and a ladies flex graphite shaft. :)
I just used a G series crossover 4 today. The easiest club to hit in my bag. I never thought to use it as a chipper or in the sand. I’ll give it a try next time.
Picked up a ping g400 crossover last year for 70$ love love love it off the tee on tight golf courses. It is nice having one club you can count on to hit the fairway somewhere between 220-260 yards.
Returned to golf after 22 yrs off! Saw many players had transitioned to hybrids. I have a 21 deg titleist now! No brainer for me but appreciate some can't get on with them. I did like the video! Thanks for the effort!
A year later and I just grabbed one off eBay for $65 to give it a rip. I always carry a hybrid despite never being able to hit them over then last few years of playing. I’m excited.
Really amping up the quality of your vids mate, not that there’s a style of vids that gets more subs but these vids will defo help the growth of the channel
Great video Simon. The one hybrid I've seen you hit well was the Taylormade GapR Hi, which I own a play, and it reminds me of this massive Ping driving iron in size. I've put a heavier 110-gram Steel Fiber X-flex shaft in my GapR Hi and love it.
Tried one SAS and hated it. Slightly better than a hybrid. Back to my 5 wood in a 3 wood shaft and a 7 wood between my driver and 4 iron. Nice trick shot!!!
Got one but I'm looking to sell it now. Based on the loft you'd think it was the perfect gapping from my 24° 5 iron to the crossover 4 at 21°. Couldn't have been more wrong. Took quite a while to get used to the massive offset and once I did, my reward was a shot that's larger in dispersion and too spinny so it only ends up like 5 yards longer than my 5 iron on a similar hit. Can't recommend it.
Simon I never liked hybrids and have a 410 crossover 4. however in the last year I put the 2 honma hybrids in my bag and haven't used the crossover since. May put it up for sale
Just picked up a 3 iron G400 crossover for £100 - new, no headcover from a local club with lots of older stock. Worth giving a try and can sell it for a slight profit if I don't get on with it.
Wow. I can say with confidence that have never seen this club in any pro shop or club store in Brandon Manitoba or even Winnipeg (2 hour drive away). I’m a huge golf fan and not very good but THIS club seems amazing.
I love this style of club. I've always played with some type of 15-16* driving iron/hybrid, and with a 19-20* match if available. And if you like the Crossover, you'll probably like the older Mizuno Fli-Hi or the Bridgestone J33 AirMuscle (super underrated).
Can’t agree more about hybrids I have had almost 30 of them over the years I find that the new utility irons are much better for me I recently purchased Srixon ZX utility irons in 20 and 23° regular flex love themg
hi Simon could i ask for your opinion regarding driving irons. I am 64 years old now and had knee replacement around 2 years ago. Since then the driver has really become not my friend i do not posses a fast swing speed so in your opinion would i be wasting my time looking at purchasing a driving iron .love the videos keep them comomg
I been playing around with a lot of different 2 irons because I didn't like hybrids. But then i bought the callaway apex 2 hybrid and ut is just perfect. Smaller head then some other hybrids and a nice weight for me.
I'm the exact opposite. I hate the chunky utility irons and much prefer a hybrid. Still have a Titleist 913h in my bag because I haven't found anything I hit as good as it.
Crazy how different golf can be to everyone. I much prefer hybrids, these chonky long irons do me no good lol CALLAWAY APEX 21 hybrids just are so nice to hit!
Simon what about pings rapture line of these. Any good? I see them all the time on the second hand market, and was thinking about picking up a driving iron. Love the videos , keep ‘em coming. Cheers.
Hybrids for me never really clicked. Couldn't figure out if I should swing like it was an iron or a Fairway wood. So I was super inconsistent with it. Picked up a 2 Utility iron and never looked back.
I've had both the g400 and g410 crossover, the g410 was much better, just sold it for £105 in x stiff as I prefer the 5 wood. Great clubs though, easy off the tee.
The only thing i can dissagree with is for shaping the ball most chunky clubs are terrible compared to a standard long iron, 90% of my shots off the tee and into the green im trying to shape the ball so hybrids and thick irons have never been great for my game
I was expecting the final frames of the video to be dropping in the hole from the carpark and you running shirt off swinging like a football hooligan in celebration.
Thanks for watching guys! Appreciate all the recent feedback and support 🙌
Have a great weekend.
How many goes did this trick take you?
@@barking_mad6649 spent 2 hours on all them combined. 👍
Love the chip in and how casual you are continuing your chat 😂 Brilliant
It’s what I was trying to show you last night!
i normally shoot high eighties, i just found a pretty good deal on a 425 crossover 3 iron and i looooooove it! feel confident over the ball, feels great, goes straight, quickly becoming my favorite club
Titleist u510 (1 iron) is simply amazing.
The smaller headed u500 in a 3 iron is my go to safety blanket.
Love this time of club 👍
Mate! That trick shot at the beginning was awesome 👀I reckon that would take me several years to do that. 😁
Love the roll up and down the slope for the chip in! Bet you were happy that went in! Loving the trick shots. Keep them up please.

I bought a brand new Ping 400 Crossover for £99 a few weeks ago and it is now absolutely my favourite club!
You had me at 60 mph swing speed! Will keep an eye out for one of these in senior flex. But if that is not available, Wilson makes the similar Launch Pad Women's chunky iron with a swing weight of C8 and a ladies flex graphite shaft. :)
Ooh Simon, you’re such a showboat lol! Loving all these trick shots mate… keep em coming! 👍
Love mine, I’m a few lower than scratch and my buddy is off 12 and we both love it.
Reminds me of the Cleveland UHX, which I picked up recently and have been hitting very well
I just used a G series crossover 4 today. The easiest club to hit in my bag. I never thought to use it as a chipper or in the sand. I’ll give it a try next time.
I got the cobra one length version which has myfly sleeve to change loft and heavy KBS shaft. It is a beast.
Simon, appreciate your content , always interesting. Thanks

I love the original G Crossover (I have the 3 & 4) and they're never leaving my bag.
did you try the G425 in the end? Looking to try on of these, Not sure to go for the G series or the G425 similar prices
Adams BE Hybrid Irons are the same idea. Loved those things when I had them.
Really amping up the quality of your vids mate, not that there’s a style of vids that gets more subs but these vids will defo help the growth of the channel
Thanks Simon, love the trick shots.🏌️
Great trick shot on the green.. enjoying your content.
Great video Simon. The one hybrid I've seen you hit well was the Taylormade GapR Hi, which I own a play, and it reminds me of this massive Ping driving iron in size. I've put a heavier 110-gram Steel Fiber X-flex shaft in my GapR Hi and love it.
Really liking the trick putt intros dude.
Simon, I just purchased the 3 and 5 Ping G crossover.
Tried one SAS and hated it. Slightly better than a hybrid. Back to my 5 wood in a 3 wood shaft and a 7 wood between my driver and 4 iron. Nice trick shot!!!

ive got the 3 iron in steel shaft, love it
l feel the same about titleist been playing with Ap1 got a up grade to T300 not the same like hitting with a brick on a end of stick 😕
Loving the trick shots dude keep going
Hi Simon, love the videos, just a quick question. What make is the cap that you wear?🙂
I like the trick shots, keep them up
Wow. I can say with confidence that have never seen this club in any pro shop or club store in Brandon Manitoba or even Winnipeg (2 hour drive away). I’m a huge golf fan and not very good but THIS club seems amazing.
what exactly is the club you ate discussing? what years were they produced
The G series came out in 2016. He is using a PING G Crossover 3 iron. I have the 4 iron version and absolutely love it.
Recently got a 20* one and love it off the tee but can’t hit it off the fairway to save my life
I tried one. I didn’t think it was anything special and I’m an 8 handicap. I would much rather hit a 4 or 5 hybrid.
He does say that he just doesn't like hybrids so this is why he likes it more
The Ping G425 hybrid is THE BEST Hybrid on the market. Loft adjustable....lie adjustable.... It's next level
hi Simon could i ask for your opinion regarding driving irons. I am 64 years old now and had knee replacement around 2 years ago. Since then the driver has really become not my friend i do not posses a fast swing speed so in your opinion would i be wasting my time looking at purchasing a driving iron .love the videos keep them comomg
It’s a hybrid without roll and bulge. Why do without the added forgiveness roll and bulge give?
Adams DHY can be had cheap and are pretty similar design. Pretty sure they morphed into the GAPR when TM took over Adams
I just picked up an 18°, 21° and 24° Adams DHY's. I was going to suggest the Adams BE Hybrid irons. Those things are awesome
I been playing around with a lot of different 2 irons because I didn't like hybrids. But then i bought the callaway apex 2 hybrid and ut is just perfect. Smaller head then some other hybrids and a nice weight for me.
I have the Taylor made GAPR mid….absolute beast and it is adjustable too.
Yeah quite a similar head design to this to be fair. Forgot about that one!
I've got an old Mizuno 14° driving iron. It looks like this, but a much smaller head. Never could hit it, but it looks mean...
Got a Mizuno fli-hi 2 iron that I still carry.
Same here - the 1st generation 18*. Not the longest 18* I've ever hit but consistent fairway finder.
The Lynx version is naughty and soo easy to hit
😆👍Good try from the lot…. Btw Rick Shiels tried to get a hole-in-one with 500 try. Have you ever had a 1 ?
I can’t hit a hybrid either. I love my 2 & 3 irons. The greatest club ping made was the eye 2. I3-G20 all are based on that same footprint.
i3 has a much narrower sole, but from G5-20 they all have the huge forgiving sole
@@John_Wood_ yes it does. But the shape is similar.
I'm the exact opposite. I hate the chunky utility irons and much prefer a hybrid. Still have a Titleist 913h in my bag because I haven't found anything I hit as good as it.
I like them so well I bought 2 complete sets. A man after my own heart.
I've never liked the look of an iron face with a huge back. Much prefer an actual hybrid or fairway wood and have much more confidence hitting them.
Crazy how different golf can be to everyone. I much prefer hybrids, these chonky long irons do me no good lol CALLAWAY APEX 21 hybrids just are so nice to hit!
I'm with you brother
Simon what about pings rapture line of these. Any good? I see them all the time on the second hand market, and was thinking about picking up a driving iron. Love the videos , keep ‘em coming. Cheers.

So Simon, the same day you're excellent video goes live, 9 Ping Crossovers sold on ebay, power of YT or coincidence, should be on commission!
The g400 crossover is an amazing club. I don't like black irons.
Similar to the titleist u510 I would say. Really great clubs.
Note to self. Buy Ping G Crossover 4i if I keep duck hooking my 4 hybrid
Nice one Simon.
What the "standard" colour for a ping club? ie lie and lenght?
What ping club are you referring to?? Is this the ping crossover?
Bought a g400 crossoverthe other week don't like hitting fairway woods/hybrid it's goes like a rocket and brilliant on tight par 4
I love my Ping G710 irons. Well besides the 4 iron, I can't hit that one 😅
I have a Hogan UiHi #3 iron and also a Cobra Fy Z Hybrid # 3...switch off depending on the course...both easy to hit and go oh so long...
I have the g425 crossover 2 iron and it’s just way too hard to hit for me. If I pure it it’s amazing but it’s rare 😂
Love my Cobra F7 hybrids!
The Ping i525 4 iron is more consistent and just as forgiving as my Sim MAX 4 hybrid.
Are square grooves legal now ?
Just bought one!
I have an old crossover 2 iron and a new zx utility 2 iron and I prefer the ping (off the tee at least)
I long time ago but Before anser most putters looked like irons. Don’t think crossover matches that leap forward
Too much offset... I wanted to love it but couldn't get it to cooperate
what's the name of the club???
The Ping G425 is the best Hybrid on the market ... You need to try it .. PERIOD
Best 4 'iron' i have ever used
found one at my local PGA for $56...played one round with a coworker and he already wants to buy it off me...
Had one, it was hideous to look at🤢 I’ve now got the G410 version and it’s brilliant
Play a g400 crossover as do not like hybrids either
Just watched this whole video and I have no idea what club he’s using or how Ping ruined it 🤷🏻♂️
Ping Crossover G series
Is this like the new F9s that supposedly sucks. (no infinity symbol on face).
I've never met anyone that's better with long irons, than they are hybrids
I've had both the g400 and g410 crossover, the g410 was much better, just sold it for £105 in x stiff as I prefer the 5 wood. Great clubs though, easy off the tee.
Play these in a 3/4/5 can’t go wrong , can’t use hybrids, long irons ard hit and miss , these are great, tried the newer versions , not as good
Put the 4 in the bag last year.
The only thing i can dissagree with is for shaping the ball most chunky clubs are terrible compared to a standard long iron, 90% of my shots off the tee and into the green im trying to shape the ball so hybrids and thick irons have never been great for my game
I have an old Yonex V-Mass 400 3 iron with titanium face in stiff graphite for straight distance. I call it a driving iron.
Can’t beat the g20
This is the WORST golf club that Ping ever made. Like hitting a ton of baked beans. Absolute stinker of a club.
I'll rather fluff a hybrid than chunk an iron 🍺😎🍺
it's just a fun club to play with and a confidence booster when you stripe it
Otoh putting is not fun. Whereas hitting a good drive is awesome. Hence why people pay for drivers.
bring back clean shaven Simon, the lady killer 🙂
I feel like your either die hard ping or you think their clubs are trash. I lean more to the eh side
I was expecting the final frames of the video to be dropping in the hole from the carpark and you running shirt off swinging like a football hooligan in celebration.
👍👍
Those clubs are horrible.
