We should wear masks, since most of us don't know if we have it. It's not going to hurt to wear one when we go to grocery store.

I agree 100 %! We have been told time and time again, that so many people do not know that they are carrying this disease. In my humble opinion, if EVERYONE would wear masks out in public, (and of course continue with social distancing and hand hygiene, etc) we could really nip this thing in the bud. I just do not understand why we are not being told to do this. Cloth, homemade masks would even help immensely, to prevent the spread. For Pete's sake, use a bandana if that's all that you have!

Where the hell are we supposed to get masks from? They all sold out weeks ago. You can't get any online and you certainly can't get any in the shops. There's reports of packs of 10 masks going for $150 on the black market. It seems only the government and medical services have access to these masks. The general public can't obtain them though right now.

The reason why your bones starts aching when you're sick is because your immune system is stressing production of white blood cells (which is typically produced in the bones)
It's overworking to keep you safe so don't panic if it hurts, just make sure you eat well warm meals that contain alot of water in them, easy to digest (to not stress the stomach at times like these) but most importantly is because the medium in which white blood cells move through is Water, that's why your doctors tell you to stay very well hydrated when you're sick, so that the WBC can reach the infections anywhere in your body andd keep you safe

Yes, educating people is very important. People sometimes say it is too risky to wear a mask because if you touch the outside of it while taking it off, you may contaminate yourself or others. However, if you did not wear one, where would those particles have landed instead? Your face, mouth, lips, or inhaled is where. Yes, there are limitations to masks, but very few real risks of harm. Any protection at all is better than no protection. N95 masks should be reserved for healthcare workers until there is no longer a shortage, but everyone else should wear a simple or homemade mask in public, all the time. One way to help with the mask shortage for healthcare workers is to not get sick and need their help in the first place.

Masks should be compulsory. The whole reason we are practising social distancing is because we don’t know who is infected and we are trying to avoid droplet spread between each other. That is exactly what masks do!
YOU are primarily wearing the mask to protect OTHERS; not yourself. And others are wearing their mask to protect you.
It only works if everyone wears a mask.
Masks also stop the wearer’s droplets from landing on surfaces, massively reducing the potential for surface spread.
Which is why masks should be compulsory for everyone.

If we stop the aerosol effect of droplets floating in the air by EVERYONE wearing a mask (I suspect even "lower grade" ones), it will lower the R0 value considerably (?)

    Day 3: lethargy/ body aches/ tight throat/ dry cough
    Day 4: lethargy/ body aches/ tight throat/ dry cough
    Day 5: lethargy/ body aches/ tight throat/ dry cough
    Day 6: lethargy/ body aches/ tight throat/ dry cough/ slight temperature raise
Day 7: energy levels increasing/ body aches are minimal/ throat feels normal/ no cough/ and no temperature
Day 8-14: symptoms gradually fading away, and recovering back to normal again.
The second week, the most annoying symptom was producing a very dry, frothy sputum. Felt like I was choking on my own spit lol so nasty.
Also I finally got tested, and confirmed a positive. I'm 31, fairly healthy. Smoked for 10 years, quit 2 years ago, picked up vaping for those 2yrs, but quit vaping during onset of first symptoms. So 2 weeks later I'm back to normal.
Quarantined for 2 weeks, going on the third now.
Also I never developed a fever.
Been taking multivitamins. Zinc, 2g vitamin C, and 1000iu vitamin d3. Also took Tylenol and/or Mucinex (along with 2-3 *STEAMY* showers) to help break up and cough out the super dry frothy sputum.
Plenty of water, and Gatorade. I also look thinner now lol lost some weight during this battle.

Over the past month or I've had fever, below-normal body temp, dry cough, productive cough, clogged nose, sore throat, shortness of breath, pressure on the chest, horrendous headaches, overall body achy muscles, and bad fatigue (sleeping sometimes 14-16 hours a day), but never all at the same time.
Doctors keep telling me "it's just a bad cold".
And of course the Dutch healthcare system isn't testing anyone except hospitalised patients, and not even all of those. Yet they're claiming they have everything under control, the number of cases is starting to go down, when in fact they're just testing less and less and not admitting people to hospitals because the hospitals are overflowing (currently at 200% ICU capacity and going up).

Please, when you advise against using masks on the premise of them not being effective to protect the person wearing it, do explicitly mention that you talk about surgical-type of masks, i.e. those that can be bought in boxes of 100's, without tight fit and made of material similar to cloth. Because a lot of people call FFP2/FFP3 respirators also a "mask", which then sows a lot of confusion, especially when those people then start going around and telling everybody that masks don't work because some "expert" said so.
FFP2/FFP3 (N95/N99 respectively) respirators do work because they capable of intercepting a particle the size of corona-virus. The main argument against respirators seems to be "people don't know how to use them properly" - which I find to be a nonsensical argument. If people don't know how to use them, then they should be taught how to do that. it is not a rocket science to put on a respirator tightly and then resisting the urge to touch it every few seconds. I think time showing people how to put on and off respirator properly would be a much better spent than telling them that masks/respirators are not effective because people are too dumb to wear them properly. If everybody used a respirator then it would've greatly contributed to reducing R0. Add protective glasses to that, and that's even better. I would argue that even a simple surgical mask is better than nothing - the % increase in protection might be small, but it is increase anyway. Heck, even improperly worn mask/respirator does marginally reduces the risk of infection. So stating that mask do not help at all is simply wrong.

    • @hannahdebs4616
      @hannahdebs4616 4 роки тому

Those people will also still have to be taught how to take it off safely. If they put in on a worksurface without cleaning the outside first, then the viris could just go onto the worksurface and without adequate cleaning still get to you. Plus filters in them have to be changed regularly

    • @Leo3ABPgamingTV
      @Leo3ABPgamingTV 4 роки тому +2

@@hannahdebs4616 Sorry for not being more explicit, but in my post I did ment that people should be taught how to use masks general, i.e. putting it on, off, disposing/decontaminating and so on. I just assumed that was self explanatory.
Now before I comment on filters, I wanna clearly define what I mean by the "respirator" because I am getting a feeling that we might be talking about different things. What I call a respirator is a FFP2/FFP3 (N95/N99) "mask", which are often disposable, and not a half masks which are made of rubber and to which one has to attach outside filters (think of a gasmask but without eye protection). Unfortunately the latter is what many people usually think of when they use word "respirator" which is not entirely correct. So, to be 110% clear: respirator is a FFP2/FFP3 mask (google "FFP2 mask" image to see what I mean) and half-mask is a reduced form of a full gas-mask.
Now with semantics out of the way, I want to say that unless you wear respirator for many hours at a time, you can reuse it a few times even if it marked as non-reusable. For example you don't need to throw it away after a 15 min trip to a grocery store. Instead, after using it, put it somewhere where you will not get in contact with it for several days so that any virus particles that may have ended up on/in it will die off by themselves. Then you can safely use it agan. Of course if you go outside often and/or have to spend a lot of time in a respirator, you might need quite a few of them, even with reuse. But for a person that is responsibly isolating himself and goes to the grocery maybe once or twice in a 2 week period, a single non-reusable respirator can serve for quite a while. Same goes for half-masks/gas-masks with replaceable filters except that many filters have up to a 100 hours of use-time, meaning that for a person isolating himself at home a single filter will probably be enough to last through the worst of the pandemic.

If everyone wore a mask, everyone would be protecting other people from themselves. Therefore mass mask wearing is genius, as far as I can see. If we didn't have such a horrendous shortage of them I'm sure we'd all be mandated to wear them. This talk about them being ineffective is just to distract from the fact that we don't have enough.

It's likely many people caught this and just didn't get bad enough to go to the hospital or get tested. It's good news in that it means it's less lethality and less hospitalisation required than headlines might suggest

I reckon I had this at Christmas, I traveled from Lincolnshire to Cork, via Dublin around the 20th and was ill around Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day (Boxing day), probably unknowingly spread it a lot, and certainly gave it to one family member. It was very unpleasant, fever, hard to breath, dry cough and pure liquid diarrhea. And zero energy, at one point I was desperate for a drink and just could not summon the will to go and fetch it.

I have been telling people I had this in the second week of February, I had been travelling several times from the Midlands to Scotland via the motorway, stopping at Services. I didn't have the fever or cough, I had chills, extreme fatigue, shortness of breath and tight chest, terrible neck and shoulder pain, headache, stuffy nose. I have had flu every year and this was no flu. Never even had a runny nose or a sneeze. The worst thing was it seemed to go one day but the next it was back or if you felt you were ok one day and started getting on with your day to day jobs you would be worn out. I was telling people I had a weird virus even before the government warnings were coming out so I wasn't trying to jump on the band wagon so to speak. One other thing the lungs still are not 100% even now some 6 weeks later, the virus damages them for the short term. The best way I can describe this virus is to say 'it doesn't like to let go' it likes to hang on so I can see why the elderly or people with underlying health issues are taken first due to their low immune systems. Anyway hope your fine now. Bill.

Passed after a couple of days. Now I have absolutely no sense of taste or smell, I had a stuffy nose on Saturday and it's cleared up now but still no smell or taste. The thing you may have overlooked in my opinion is the correlation between 88% fevers and the fact we have been using temperature as a preventative measure and probably causing more people to be tested with that symptom.
On a side note, I recently tried to get tested and was unable. Maybe you could see how available testing is in the UK or at the cdc website. Although we all know it is under par, the squeaky wheel. Thanks

Perhaps the cleaning of the Air is good, as it is airborne and can hang in the air for 3 hours. As far as masks it is important for them to be worn as no one knows who has it that is asymptomatic and unknowingly spread it as well as to contain viral particles from super-spreaders. I do watch and love every video you create, THANK YOU💚

From what I've read, in the beginning of the symptomatic stage, the cough is very raspy itchy and dry. The virus hasn't set in deep in the alveolar lung tissue yet. Once symptoms have persisted and become more severe, the alveoli become fluid filled from inflammation and immune response. Then the wet mucosal coughing begins. The more severe cases cough up blood and develop pneumonia, hence the ventilators. More people experience less severe symptoms so the percentage for dry cough is higher.

I'm pretty sure I had it in the start of the month, had 3 days at first where I felt a bit fatigued, and with the feeling of something being stuck in my upper throat, 4th day I had a fever/headache when I awoke, cough came a few hours later, felt more and more fatigued during the day, and during the evening my fever temperature rose, next came the muscle pain, especially around my lungs area - front and back of the chest, had to take deeper breaths too, to feel I could breathe properly, during the night I had to run for the toilet 3 times because of diarrhea, and the chills set in, I was shaking for a 4-5 hours while making my toilet runs, the next day I slowly started feeling better, cough disappeared in the afternoon, fever was gone again in the evening, headache a day later.
The couple living under me are smokers, mainly smoking out of their kitchen window, but the day I lost my headache, my apartment smelled like someone had just smoked inside of it, I think that was my smell coming back, everything was overwhelming, I didn't actually notice my sense of smell being gone before that.
I live in Denmark, smaller town of about 25k people, I've heard from friends a family that has experienced much of the same, and I know when had infected people coming back from Italy in the end of February that lives in this town, since one of them is a friend of a friend, who got diagnosed a few days after I started to feel fine again, and this was all before Denmark locked down.
