Jim! This is fantastic. I love that you used an old play-worn casting that already had a natural and amazing patina in place. My favorite addition to this cool car is your vented tail lights. Those are cool. But overall, this is just a great wasteland build. I'd be proud to rock it on our Gaslands NorCal table anytime. Cheers! --Bo
Thanks so much Bo! Those vents are an example of having just a crazy amount of fun going through a bunch of greeblies, finding something that looks like it would work...and then digging to find a matching one lol. That patina was so beautiful I couldn't just drop this in the stripper.
Love that you saved and worked with the original patina, Jim. It works perfectly with your theme. I'm no engine technician either, so I give a thumbs up to all your add ons and hoses. I'm just happy to know that Porsches will be roaming the Wastelands! 🍁☕
Thanks so much Andrew! I loved that worn look that time and play had given the casting...and given how beaten it was, it seemed perfect for the post apocalyptic world. I have a strong feeling that there will be a lot of Porsches and Mercedes surviving long into the future...and whatever it may bring lol.
Thanks David! I really liked taking advantage of the wear...that I didn't have to create on my own lol I played around with the look of the wheels before deciding and other combinations just looked odd to me...so I'm glad you like the look of the same size all around too!
Hi David - UA-cam isn’t letting me reply to your message under the other build so I’m trying here. I replied to you in error - I had two Davids on the screen message section and thought I was replying to the other one and it went to you lol. That being said, I still want to send you something due to the confusion - it just won’t be the VW. Please still email me at silvajim@gmail.com
@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms you don't have to send me anything, brother. I am here for your channel, builds and tips. The giveaways that you do is an awesome treat and I appreciate you allowing me to join in.
@@davidbeeson1178 Thanks so much for understanding David! UA-cam gets confusing at times (in fact, this is my second time trying to reply to this message because the first one wouldn't send) and I thought I was responding in the right window...but I wasn't. It's not the first time I've made the mistake, no matter how careful I try to be, and it likely wont be the last. Thanks again and thanks for watching my videos!
Well, not what I might have done to one of my favorites of my youth, but really love the end result. The stance with the wheels is sick, and I love the engine updates as well! Thanks for doing it!
Thanks Brian! I have others of this casting that are in better shape, so this seemed like a great direction to take this one...and take advantage of all of that fantastic wear lol. Thanks so much!
Jim, your imagination is fabulous! I am not a huge fan of Wastelands, cut this build was brilliant! The guns out of the headlights were perfect! And for those purists that think redlines are sacred, this car is still restorable if you wanted to. Nice work!
I really love what you did with this one! 😊 It looks like an awesome blend of Mad Max, Moon Patrol, and Spy Hunter! 😊 The patina on this vintage car gives it a very natural weathered look especially after you darkened it! 😊
Thanks Todd! I went back and forth between the engine I used and a smaller engine. The more I looked at it, the smaller engine was just too small, and this had a more "dramatic" look.
Like some of the other comments…I’m not a big fan of post apocalyptic builds, but your imagination and thoughtful details are absolutely perfect here! The wheels, exhaust tips, guns and other bits are all superbly executed, as well as the accent color detail…all awesome! Thank you for the continued inspiration. 👍🏼👍🏼
I can't remember you ever gluing wheels. Especially because you´re always proud of your rollers. Of course, the patina screams for the car to be changed in the Gaslands style. I'm also working on a really messed up project right now. It's a shame that I don't have as extensive a Grieblies collection as you. I always have to take apart more donors. As you know, I'm not a fan of sports cars, but I love how beautifully you've transformed this ride. It doesn't matter whether "engine accessories" are technically correct, if they look good, they have to be installed. After all, you want to have fun while building. And you definitely had it again!
Thanks Fritz! I have glued wheels before...but not often. One of my favorite Gaslands builds using Lee Perry parts had wheels and parts designed specifically to be glued in place and included parts that allowed for the wheels to be angled if desired - a fantastic group of parts. I definitely had a great amount of fun doing this one!
That was one of my favorite pocket rides as a short legger!!! Those things are ridiculously expensive on the secondary market no matter the condition! I like what you did and I am sure you gave some people small heart palpitations when they saw this video, 😂!!! Turned out awesome!!
Thanks Charles! I hope a few were a little shocked by what I did to it...but I had to lol Maybe if I restore one I haveit will redeem me in their eyes 🤣🤣🤣
The years of use did all the work for you on that paint job😅 The wheels are a perfect fit. Looks like you had lots of fun with that build. Cool custom👌
P stands for Porsche… the car is a 1969 Porsche 917K aka the Short Tail which usually raced in Can Am and shorter circuits where the LH (Long Tail) raced at Le Mans and Daytona. Longer tracks.
Thanks Eddie! I'm usually the same way when it comes to rollers...but when it comes to Gaslands style, I give it a lot more leeway as some players have said it's better if they can't move on their own lol
That thingamajig, on the vroom-vroom. Lol, just the right amount of ridiculousness!😬👌
LOLOLOL Thanks Uri!
Very cool , and different.
Big like 👍.
Nice 👍
Mike
Thanks Mike!

I like the fact that you went with the way it was. I'm glad you did the same size wheels all the way around brother. It turned out awesome, I like it.

Great job Jim and looks awesome 👍🏻
Thanks Mark!
@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms you're welcome 😊
That looks very menacing. 😎👍
Thanks!
That natural patina looks awesome couldn't have made it like that for sure. This thing is badass.
Thanks so much Neil! I couldn't let that natural look be wasted.
This reminds me of playing "Moon Patrol" at the local laundromat back in the day for some reason. 👊❤
Thanks Bobby!

Thanks so much! It was such a fun build! Those purists probably weren't alive and playing when them in 1968 like I was lololol
This is awesome. I love what you did, taking advantage of the "natural " weathering. This is truly great stuff
Thanks Scott! Time and play did all of the hard work on this build...I couldn't let that look get away.
As a Gaslands connoisseur, ha ha ha, you did an amazing job preserving the original patina and created perfect imperfect vehicle for the wastelands.
Thanks John! I love that original patina!
It’s better if they roll. Unless they fly.( or even swim)😅
That poor Redline 😁🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I really love what you did with this one! 😊
It looks like an awesome blend of Mad Max, Moon Patrol, and Spy Hunter! 😊
The patina on this vintage car gives it a very natural weathered look especially after you darkened it! 😊
Thanks Jack! This was a really fun combination of parts. I'm really happy I worked with the natural patina.
Awesome Jim. I really like the stance with those tires and wheels. The addition of the engine looks great.
Thanks Todd! I went back and forth between the engine I used and a smaller engine. The more I looked at it, the smaller engine was just too small, and this had a more "dramatic" look.
While I’m usually not a post-apocalyptic fan, I really like this one! Taking advantage of the original wear was what did it for me. Great job!
Thanks so much!

Looks great!
Thanks Greg!
Very cool Jim as always. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Ron!

Thank you Ernie! Merry Christmas!

@ Only time will tell, 😂!
Another mad build, Jim - they look terrific. Time for a tracking shot along a shelf with a suitable background, with a load of these models together!
That's a great idea Fraser! I have a lot of things planned for 2025 and I'll have to add that to the list!
great creativity 😀
Thanks so much!
Great stuff Dad, really like the Necron Scarab you used on the front!!!
Thanks Son! Glad you could recognize what I stuck on the front - I have NO idea what it is...other than I liked it lololol
This is super fun!
Thanks Leo!
Nice build, details 👌 👍
Thanks Joe!
It looks very badass Jim, I love the taillights on this casting. 😎👍
Aren't those darn taillights fun? I was so happy to find those bits to drop on there!
@@JimSilva-SilvaDiecastCustoms Absolutely! 👌
You got an excellent look ,by using the original platina jim ,great end result 👍
Thanks so much Martin! I absolutely loved the original patina and was glad I could make it work into the build.
The years of use did all the work for you on that paint job😅 The wheels are a perfect fit. Looks like you had lots of fun with that build. Cool custom👌
I really did have a blast doing this build Fernando! Thanks!

I've done a few 917 builds over the years. I think the most recent one was for Andrew's channel anniversary build.
I normally don’t like wet land builds but this came out fantastic good job!
Thanks Kevin!
Wicked custom Jim!
Thanks Ron!
Very cool and different Jim!
Thanks Pete!
Not usually a fan of post apocalyptic but this is great.
Thanks Shane!
Cool job, using what u got.
Thanks David!
The powerhouse killer of the wasteland!

Very cool build. Just subbed.

Great job Jim but !! Lol i like rollers .looks to outstanding not to roll!! Lol 😆
Thanks Eddie! I'm usually the same way when it comes to rollers...but when it comes to Gaslands style, I give it a lot more leeway as some players have said it's better if they can't move on their own lol
Cool build like what you did waste land theme 😎
Thanks Armando!
It looks like a car out of a video game, some Star Wars movie or dune
Thanks Diego!
