    I've always had good success with removing paint by using brake fluid and a toothbrush. Of course, that'll never save the original paint, but if you're planning on a respray...or maybe you want to remove a paintbomb from the engine and carbs, and get it all back to bare aluminium...brake fluid really seems to do a nice job. And it usually won't bother your rubber gaskets, seals, boots, etc. so no need to strip every thing down first.

      I am going to give that a try. Thanks for sharing.

    Looks good and you get to keep the oem paint nice. Only original once. They make tape so you can brush the stripes back on so no biggie there.

    Awesome video! A clean old factory paint job is almost always 100 times better than the badly rattle canned flat black bikes I see for sale.

    I’ve been watching your channel for about a year now, and one of my favorite things about it is your commitment to preserving originality and doing so in a practical sense. If I’m in your shoes, I can almost guarantee I would’ve scuffed that up and laid down some new paint. I would’ve seen that ugly spray job and never would’ve thought that the paint underneath might be better.
    I have used Goof Off overspray remover to good effect. Spray on a textile rag and wipe. Like it says on the can, don’t spray directly onto the surface, it will get into the original finish and remove that too. Ask me how I know. 😬

    Toothbrush was your problem. On a stolen Raleigh bike I used a rag and brake fluid. Worked great. You can't leave it sit. Be very patient and I made that emerald green paint come back beautiful. Wish I wasn't so nice to people. Lady said she needed a bike and I gave it to her. Saw the bike. Not common. Talked to the lady, she was real proud she had got an almost perfect bike for $100. Still had a couple spots of yellow paint I had missed. Used Fast Wax on it. That thing still shined.

    That might be off an old Wing I put together from parts. They christened it Frankenwing. It had parts from about 8 wings, a Suzuki a Kawasaki and even a BMW!
    I painted it blue because every panel was a different color!
    I built it as a winter sidecar hack and didn't care what it looked like.
    Probably not off my bike looking at the state of the blue paint, I took a little more care laying it on!!

      🤣😂🤣 The painter in this case did not prep or mask anything. Everything has blue overspray.

    Very nice! Would this work on painted Chrome? Anywho, Thanks for showing us this cool hack. 🤙
    P.S. You have a Goldwing now? I missed it apparently....

    • @motorcyclerewind
      @motorcyclerewind  9 місяців тому +2

      I haven’t shown the Goldwing yet. Just a few Easter eggs. The carbs on the bench and now the front fender. Should make its debut this week.
      It works better on chrome. You don’t have to worry about ruining the factory paint.
      Thanks for watching.

    The way your speech started to slur and the way you struggled to stay coherent about two thirds through is a great advert for ventilation. Seriously, the reason it evaporates off so quick is because that's just about 100% volatile content. Straight into your lungs, straight into your blood, straight into your brain. I love your work, thanks for uploading but you've got to look after your health too.
