Never has it been so easy for a Halo fan to point to a SINGLE video and say “This is why.” It’s the perfect exposé when it comes to the complaints we’ve had over the last 10 years.
@@darkshadow6556No I just think this video is largely toxic and blames a developer that is largely made up entirely of Halo fans that get literally harassed regardless of what they do for the community.
It's so sad how 343 keeps making the most basic of mistakes and shipping Halo games that are frankly broken. I want to get back into Halo, but it's simply not possible with such an incompetent steward of the game.
I remember you were on Halofest 2014, remember the negative gameplay reaction towards the Halo 5 Beta on the Twitch stream? ua-cam.com/video/ByjpyXjoNrA/v-deo.html
It seems many of us are starting to feel this way again... Halo needs to make a comeback after 10+ years of being kicked around and 343i clearly don’t have it within the leadership or creative team to recapture what made it popular. Unfortunately for them, Halo isn’t just Spartans and that’s all they seem to care about. The weapons are lame, the vehicles are lame, the world is lame, maps are lame, and even the movement and way things react/function in game looks and feels out of place.. Just doesn’t feel smooth or satisfying. Give us a small/focused team dedicated to recapturing what Halo was and leave 343i with Spartans/UNSC sub plot games with experimental gameplay features and keep their lore/war games simulation within their non-mainline games.
They were doomed the second they named themselves after a character that pretended to have master chief’s best interests in mind, then proceed to flip the script and literally try to murder him
I got genuinely upset when they started laughing at the guy who was pointing out the shot registration issue. It's not just the ridicule of someone, a fan no less, trying to help. It's the active ignorance and shutting the idea itself down. No matter how much it'd affect their precious "pro scene" or the playerbase at large. 'hur hur you're near a wall'
Bro with the software engineers I've worked with, stuff like this would never fly. If you have been asked to take a look at an issue, you should go fix it to some capacity, period. Doubly so for me since I used to mostly work in the tools team and my clients were basically internal artists and level designers. And no one wants to screw over our in house artists. But I guess 343 was just OK with screwing over their clients(gamers).
What’s really weird is they used to be pro players too, and are still connected with the pro circles. We can see that it was a big problem even for the pros. I can’t for the life of me fathom how that was their reaction instead 🤦♂️
It makes it a lot easier for me to play Halo Infinite like it's a distant sequel to Halo 3 than a sequel to 4 and 5. Hell the art style, while not 1-1 is still closer to what you'd expect from a continuation of Halo 3.
@@gabethebabe3337 Yeah but you still have to deal with how bad of a story Infinite is, so all it really does is just make it so it's not a problem to not have Halo 5 on PC. Otherwise, Halo 4 is still a better endpoint than proceeding past it
All thanks to the incompetent writers that can't seem to sit down long enough and come up with a cohesive story that still follows through with what the previous installment set up. I swear 343's supposed "trilogy" is about as all over the place as the Sequel Trilogy from Star Wars.
@@gabethebabe3337 Infinite is an empty and lifeless campaign. the only reason anybody likes it is because they went back to the old artstyle, which is a retarded thing to even need to be happy about.
343 has owned Halo longer then Bungie did.. truly think about that for a second... They have no more excuses for the crappy Halo after crappy Halo they've been putting out and Im so sick of people in the community making excuses for them
This is what happens when gaming ''evolves'' into mainstream cancer with pro BLM pro trans-rights incels and muh wahmen at the forefront where is Zyzz when you need him most fam
@Carlos Andrade “hehe I’m pulling one over on them because I pay them a monthly subscription for the campaign (which exists to advertise the aforementioned subscription service) instead of just having bought it!” Genius. I see no flaws in this logic.
The issue with their games is they never build off each other. Each game feels like a reboot of the franchise, each story doesn’t connect as well as how Bungie’s games did.
So basically every Halo game made by 343 has had different upper management, different creative leads, different directors, and your actual dev teams have had inconsistent employees. How has Microsoft not looked at that and said “well, maybe we should get one of our established studios to develop these games?” It might not be Bungie…but at least it would be a structured core group of employees. Like this was painful to watch.
@@Frank_West I wonder if Kiki Wolfkill might also be a common factor. Producer on Halo 4, executive producer on MCC…then she goes on to be lead on transmedia, i.e. she’s one of the primary representatives for 343 on the Paramount+ show, which is just GOD AWFUL. Clearly, she’s not doing a very good job
I’ve said that after their recent acquisition spree, they now have id Software-one of the godfathers of the FPS genre that have arguably never made a truly BAD game-under their umbrella. For God’s sake, have them or even Machine Games take a crack at Halo. They couldn’t do a WORSE JOB than 343, at least.
This video absolutely had to be made and you were definitely the right guy to do it. The magnitude of incompetence is staggering. 15 year old entries into the series are still outclassing new entries with 50x the team and budget. Halo Infinite's first year should be giving you enough material for a follow-up.
@dylanscott29 You’re under selling the kind of content Crowbcat makes! I’m not going to champion some faceless person on the internet, but you should watch more of his videos. The videos encompass more than just bugs. The E3 coverages are rather entertaining, I’d recommend starting there.
The most amazing part is they made literally EXACTLY the same mistakes with halo infinite it’s mind boggling they learned NOTHING from 10 years of making halo games. That’s honestly impressive.
Hahaha unfortunately Late Night Gaming here still tries to make Infinite look like a decent game. Wish you would stop promoting that junk pile! You're the problem, keep giving them positivity regarding this awful product but expect quality.
@@TanThighsYum Consider that income is at stake. All our fave halo content makers probably can't speak out too publicly considering how they became involved with infinite. Leaving a comment of approval on content like this might be the only way they can speak out or acknowledge the problems.

19:27 glad our Halo 4 Forge ViDoc parody lives on :D Funny little story: we used to be a large Reach machinima channel back in the day (Rise of the Spartans, Middleground, Tempus Maximus) and when 343 took over the franchise there was such a complete butchering of forge, theater, and even custom games that we were somewhat forced to move on from creative Halo content, and is why to this day we make Minecraft animations instead of Halo machinima.
I LOVE that forge doc man. Had me howling back in the day. Sad to see you're not doing Halo but glad to see you're still going. Middleground and it's sequel are my favourite Halo Machinima ever made.

Remember that 343 said they expect this games longevity to span 10 years; a "live-service."
to be fair, this is based on steamcharts alone. if you wanna get a bit more accurate, considering the xbox's player count off the site, its somewhere along the lines of 96k-98k players give or take. remember that steamcharts doesn't count playerbases off of steam despite having a crossplatform audience. I mean, its still not doing GREAT but its definitely not as miniscule as you framed it.
@@PKFireFawx microsoft hides their player counts anyways so they should never be used as a metric. They also bump up games with no population randomly so its even more untrustworthy
I am speechless with how well this story is crafted in this video. The editing is god tier obviously but the story telling is on another level. This video was a joy to watch.
@@Frank_West they need to if they want to turn the franchise around, but at this point-and with all I’ve seen in the video-it’s pretty evident that they just don’t care.
@@criticalripz not just that but where did they get the new weapons and new models for all the weapons and vehicles and general ship? Plus how did the ship get like 10x bigger?
The sheer incompetence of 343's upper management in handling almost every aspect of Halo makes me wonder how no one in those positions have been promptly fired and replaced. I'm genuinely shocked. It was failure after failure after failure after failure, yet Bonnie Ross and co. are still there.
Brain Reed was fired only after months of fans demanding him to be removed. Everyone else is just jumping ship and quitting, which, imo, is much worse.
@@aarontylerbellfilms8486 Disney? Try the prequels by George Lucas. Halo is currently going through the "prequels" phase where everything is hot garbage and only kids like it.
@@bigdaddynero The prequels did have serious flaws, but I think Disney’s overall management of the franchise as a whole (including Star Wars parks/attractions) is a better analogue for 343’s frequent management fumbles.
@quicknfearless how is Destiny more accessible? Unless you look up tutorials it's kinda hard to know what to do after doing the campaign and expansions. Crucible and Iron is cancer unless you've got the meta build. This is coming from someone who's played Destiny 1 & 2 for countless hours, I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone unless they wanna invest all their time just to push a couple light lvls and down $200 for content
This rivals The Fall of 76 for me in terms of sheer research and clarity of message. It's utterly insane to me how comprehensively 343 has managed to betray the legacy Bungie left behind, and this is such a great exploration of their history with this franchise.
This is like the Crowbcat video on steroids. Fantastic job, great editing, and hey, I was in it briefly! (Wish someone had told me about this video a year ago!) Great video man, be proud.
People have really forgotten how genuinely disastrous the MCC's initial launch was. That along with Assassins Creed: Unity is when this shit started to become the norm and it has pervaded into today.
Oh I remember it well, senior year in high school I installed it being super excited and being pissed for years up until they got off their asses and fixed it. Halo MCC was the only reason I bought the Xbox one. TBH this whole gaming generation has been pathetic especially for Xbox
At least MCC is (sort of, I hear there's a few server issues but I haven't touched multiplayer with it yet) in a good place now. Same can't really be said for Infinite.
We're so good at making hideous creatures that make you vomit, we have to show you how good we are at making hideous creatures by looking directly at his face.
True, especially with Chief's follow up line: "I thought we had a truce with the Covenant" No the UNSC did not have a truce with the Covenant, Humanity allied with the Elites AGAINST the Covenant and 343i thought that the Elites = Covenant because they are aliens lmao.
@@alessandro348 then they had to explain it further in Halo 5 which made things even more confusing that it was a sect of Elites who still believed the Covenant chose them which makes no sense (if you played Halo 1-3) since the Elites were kicked out of the covenant in Halo 2 in exchange for brutes and the Arbiter made it very clear the prophets were liars... 343 dont even know the lore of the series they own
@@randomguy4781 This exactly, and what’s funny is literally any lore 343 comes out about “Covenant remnant elites that hate humanity” they gloss over, fail to mention or don’t pay attention to the Great Schism. It’s telling that the very first post-war story we got, The Return, was all about how traumatizing, gut-wrenching, and guilt-inflicting that revelation was, and how much it shook their culture and society to the core. Then all the sudden they retcon it with “most elites hate humanity and the arbiter.” Kind of an inconvenient truth for them, that was.
That introduction from Halo Wars 1 is ironic in a way. Cutter's speech actually describes how Ensemble Studios felt about its development. But at least Ensemble delivered on their promises and made a good game.
If only Microsoft put ensemble studios staff in 343, a company they forced to learn halos design philosophy, got tutorship from marty (most of bungie were not happy) actually learned and liked halos lore and just... got rid of them.
@@xchirs_ Not really. MCC had a reason for why it was as bad as it was, back then it was 5 total games on one disc that was rushed for a Holiday release, if you didn't expect it to be a disaster, you were kidding yourself. Infinite can't even get Custom games to work right, something MCC was actually able to do at launch.
Honestly, 343 are so fucking lucky they inherited one of the most beloved franchises already built by a far more passionately and capable group. Had 343 had to build a series from the ground up, it would've flopped immediately given their incompetence and the studio would be promptly shut down.
Don't think 343 will turn this around, it's now the end of June and the only thing they have updated is the item shop. My heart aches everyday having to see the current state of halo. Halo was a such a huge part of my childhood. 343 ruined halo for everyone...
@@fighTLast4ver Because they now treat their launch as the play test. Devs/Studios don't care about QA anymore. They want the game preordered and purchased regardless of how bad of a launch they have since they assume players will be patient for the game to be complete/finished later on. Players are finally getting fed up with that practice and some of the smaller companies have been better about this now. But the big boys still can't seem to get it through their thick heads.
343's issue is that they never want to do what 'was done before', and so they make changes that don't need to be made, just for the sake of being their own thing.
... well Infinite contradicts your statement entirely, but in terms of 4, 5 and MCC @ Launch (until it was finally fixed, which IIRC was after the Xbox One X launched, and Phil was turning the company around) I agree completely. You have to understand too, that a lot of their bad decisions were made because of the INTENSE pressure from the competition at the time. CoD & Battlefield weren't a joke back then, they were the ONLY God-tier Multiplayer Console FPS at the time- the only comparable games were like Medal of Honor's feeble attempts at copycatting Modern Warfare, and Ubisoft was still transitioning to the X1 generation, and wouldn't produce anything relevant until SIEGE (which was poorly received at launch as well, bc of the whole Watch Dogs "Ubisoft Downgrade" issue that was occuring at the time). Gears of War was like just starting to peak and then descend into irrelevance, and Sony wasn't producing any heavy hitter FPS Exclusives. I'm rambling, but my point is (and I think a major theme of this video) that BUNGiE leaving Microsoft and HALO behind shook the industry to its core, far more than most people realize. Halo Reach was such a hard 10/10, with a sheer scope and level of quality that no other dev at the time was capable of producing (especially on a 360!!). The visuals are still incredible because BUNGiE's art design is peerless, and the amount of modes, innovations and straight up polish was something that 343i was never going to attain in the time allotted. That's why I think Infinite deserves more credit, because before Phil Spencer, I wager it would've launched alongside Series X as planned- in a completely unplayable state, and killed the franchise dead. People also overlook the effects the pandemic is having on every developer right now. I could go on, but I'm wasting my breath. I'm just saying they're doing better now, but they're still not where they need to be. If they don't add some more actual CAMPAIGN to the Campaign (including all forms of co-op), and more MAPS, MODES and FORGE to the Multiplayer, then this will not end like the No Man's Sky redemption story. Or even the "Cyberpunk is okay now" story. It'll be an ANTHEM story, where it's abandoned and given to some Activision Blizzard studio to completely recreate from the ground up lol.
@@narcspector Infinite only contradicts his statement because 343 were literally causing the franchise to go so downhill it was losing massive support. 343 went back to SOME of what was done before because they were failing.

its funny how technology advances and the quality of games gets worse. in 2007 and 2010 we get complete games with forge and co op but now in 2021 we have to wait as much as 6 months for these things
And with no real tradeoff graphically. Going from the PS1/N64 to Gamecube/Xbox it was like wowww. Now it's like, wow more green, higher poly models at quadruple the staff of before. More people working on less games, its lame
They're bigger and more expensive to build. The quality control nowadays is worse. There's no guarantee that a game will just work at launch. And as they get more expensive and more complicated the design becomes more conservative and risk averse.
I can't wait to see "343 industries vs the universe" after the whole infinite situation has ran its course. Rather have a good game but if not I'll take the part 2

The whole armor nanobot thing could have easily been avoided by just giving us Halo 3 mechanics and armor for the first level, have us get onto the Inifinity in the second level and get new armor then get sucked into Requiem and instead of deactivating those towers to communicate with the Infinity, we disable them to “escape” inadvertently releasing the Ur Diadect from his Cryptum and continuing the story as we know it.

It's baffling how Microsoft still allows 343 to touch one of their marquee titles after a decade of blundering each game they release. At this point, they should just dissolve 343, retain and let the other studios absorb the programmers, the artists, the sound designers, the maintenance people, the interns, and basically everyone else beside the decision makers, the people at the head of that studio. 343's handling of Halo really is wild. They were basically handed a golden ticket and all they have done is squander it. The fact that as of now they have been in charge of Halo for longer than Bungie was and that they have yet to produce a complete product (much less one of the caliber of the original trilogy) and still haven't been shut down in spite of clear evidence of gross mismanagement is astounding. It speaks to the amount of money that Microsoft has. They don't care if 343 burns cash and Halo's reputation and influence for a decade, they can just eat that cost like it was nothing. I can't think of any other job where I could fail at it for over ten years and not be fired.
Halo infinite was the title that officially has me done with the franchise. Perfectly content to keep replaying CE - Reach on repeat. Seriously. I never have gotten bored of them
Sad part is Infinite is so much fun. Even with desync if they had just given us content at least by month 2 we would be enjoying more of what it has to offer
@NeonBlkRager the engine is good but nah dude it was Doomed to fail from the start. Did you not see their pathetic launch? They had only TWO PLAYLISTS. Keep in mind this halo has LESS MAPS THAN HALO 2 did at launch and had Twice the development time and budget.
I think I'm done now too man. This video really put everything into perspective for me and I realized that there is so little hope for this franchise in the hands of 343. Infinite is such a failure and no matter what they do to fix it won't change how they squandered their time in the spotlight.
343 got this superiority complex and keep thinking that they can make halo better as if there was something wrong with the classic halo formula when bungie was working on it but in actuality they are just keep trying to fix a problem that never existed to begin with. Imagine Coca-Cola didn’t learn their lesson when they released the new coke and instead of bringing back the classic coke that everyone actually wants they just keep making new coke 2 and new coke 3 until they go bankrupt, that’s the direction 343 is heading right now.
I remember back when people were debating over whether Halo Reach was the best or worst game of the franchise… …Oh how we failed to realize just how good we had it back then…
Yeah I remember all the forum posts on Bungie how reach was trash, it's the worst Halo game, Bungie ruined Halo, etc. Halo 4 was the nail in the Halo coffin for me. I really didn't like that game. Can't believe I even bought the damn Halo 4 controller.
@@brickweathertop7907 I would disagree for the narrative. While Infinite is a mechanical masterpiece, the actual narrative is one of its biggest disappointments. And that’s not something that they are going to be fixing in any updates, unfortunately. As for Reach, it was also a mechanical marvel in its time, mainly for Forge. And it arguably still has the best customizability for character appearance of any Halo game. With freedom of color selection, emblem creation and absolutely no armor being locked behind a pay wall.
@@paradoxlaboratories8005 oh my, just because you can chose colors in Reach does not make it better. Reach’s forge was a minor improvement over 3, the biggest “evolution” was snapping forge pieces together lmao. Infinite’s forge will be vastly superior. And disagree on narrative being bad, it’s not huge in scope but it wrapped up the previous games and set up this Infinitr trilogy, excited for Halo The Endless dlc especially with Joe Staten as creative head leading the project from the ground up. Reach mechanically was weak as hell and clunky. Story was alright, characters fell flat.
I think 343 just doesn’t understand the character & story development that made Halo so great. The Halo games weren’t supposed to be about Master Chiefs character development. *You* were supposed to be the chief, and through witnessing events first hand, *you* develop as the main character. Think about Halo Reach as well, was the story about Noble 6 and his character development??? Nope It was about humanities character development through the events that unfolded. Noble 6 and the Masterchief are vessels to a larger story. That’s why Noble 6 had only like 6 lines of dialogue in the whole game too. 343 just doesn’t understand this, that’s why people hate the story of halo 4, 5, and the TV show. They’re focusing on trying to make the the universe revolve around Chief. Everything is happening because of Master Chief. But Bungie understood that, the better story was if chief revolved around the universe. They said “what if chief witnessed the greatest story of all time?” 343 said “what if chief was the greatest story of all time” But nobody really cares about 1 guy as much as we care about humanity and the universe as a whole. We’re clearly seeing here which formula was better and more entertaining. Bungies formula grew Halo into a story that was world renowned. 343’s formula is arguably shrinking the fan-base…
Funny thing is they haven't developed Chief's character, he is exactly the same only he talks more now. Seeing as they repeatedly fail or choose not to connect Halo 4 to 5 and 5 to infinite with any kind of coherent narrative arc. The universe is indeed revolving around Master Chief, but he's just walking around in circles chasing after Cortana-Jesus who dies and gets resurrected every game now. Kind of hilariously, given how much of a mess it was, Halo 4 was actually 343's best spiritual continuation of the franchise, largely because the UNSC is actually a thing that exists and has evolved in H4. Halo 4 is the only 343 Title that has the main character (humanity) progress and the only one that has character development for Chief and Cortana's relationship. Also the only 343 game to have a completely original soundtrack, that the composers absolutely nailed. It's just a shame that everything else about the game was a horrendous atrocity that I can only assume was intended to be an assault on the senses.
2:23 I used to deliver Jimmy John's to that 343 office lmao. That's their old office in Kirkland, WA. They had a life-size Master Chief Statue right in the lobby, and at their other office a few blocks away, they had a life-sized ODST. Oh, and I've totally parked in that Chief of the Week spot while delivering Jimmy John's lmao.
MCC was one of the largest displays of game dev incompetence ever in gaming. I get that there are broken games like Cyberpunk but I would call this a whole other league of failure because all they had to do was make decade old games again as they were and wow I have never seen such an amateurish development studio with such a solid track record of it. From Halo 4, to 5, to MCC, and now Infinite being a barren wasteland with no content and barely functioning servers, 343 has a history of being inept and releasing trash dumpsterfire games no one would ever play if it wasn't Halo. No sense giving them more chances, it's the same words playing to the same ideas time and time again only to end up providing a half baked, underwhelming product you regret paying for in the long run.
Small correction regarding the MCC matchmaker: It's not completely random, it's _worse._ Instead of letting RNGsus select maps/modes, 343 made a weight system where they took the most VETOD maps in Halo 3 and most UNVOTED maps in Halo Reach and put them at the top. Meaning you are far more likely to get, say, Territories on Sandtrap than you are to get KoTH on Standoff.
I don't know what types of people work there but if I were to ignore an issue for months and then laugh it off when asked about it I wouldn't keep my job for long.
36:03 He stumbled and had to correct himself before he called master chief "the traitor" instead of the chief. Which fucking boils my blood that these people never saw him as the hero he was when making halo5, just a convenient character to play off of for their own characters
Good Spot. Honestly, don't think anyone cares about Halo's story, characters or fanbase at 343i. Only thing they care about is the marketability and potential profit.
@@marcusnia9566 in my opinion I think 343 cares about their own story, it just isn't a Halo story. They are just using the halo universe to tell it Since they definitely put personality into the characters they designed for halo 5, unbearable personalities but they are still there. 343 doesn't care about the bungee story or where the direction of the universe was going because that's not their story. I just despise when game developers who buy an ip decide to throw away everything that was already built up to that point cause "eh not mine don't care, I'll just use them to make my characters look better ig"
I feel you so much, dude. I unironically like the game but it is most likely because it's a microwaved version of what I loved during my teenage years. I can't give it more praise than just that.
That 2018 teaser trailer was the most Halo thing 343 has ever done and of fucking course it was a big fucking lie. 343 as a whole is like if you took Peter Molyneux from the Fable franchise (The guy who would overhype Fable with each game only to fail to meet those expectations) and you made a whole company with him as the sole employee.
dont feel bad. I swore to never give them another chance after 4 but still got hyped up about Infinite by the teaser trailer. just glad I didnt actually buy Infinite and waited for the reviews to come out instead.
People like to complain a lot about how negative halo fans are, but after watching this, I don't think they get enough credit for just how patient and hopelessly optimistic a good majority of them have been toward 343, when they clearly don't deserve it.
Bonnie Ross needs to go together with the entire 343 leadership team. Joseph Staten MIGHT be able to turn the ship around but we just don’t know. The fact is that the studio needs a huge overhaul!
I don't really know if making an ex bungie member the ceo of 343 will magically fix everything. There's way more to this then just incompetent leadership
Well, this has convinced me (more than I already was) 343 is not only incompetent, but will never be competent. Microsoft needs to clean house, fire management and get some people who actually give a damn in there.
I know some people who know how to make a Halo game! Watch the Halo making-of documentaries and developer commentaries, they might just give us a clue to solve this mystery!!
Now do the exact same style of montage showing the absolute hype, success, and magic the actual real Halo games achieved. Just so there is finally no more confusion about what Halo is, and what made it special. We could point to those two videos and say "don't do this, do this"
With all the quality studios Microsoft has bought I think it's time to hand this franchise to Id Software. 343i is an F tier developer that should have been replaced long ago.
I’m an hour in and I’m struggling to get past the sheer amount of secondhand embarrassment I’m feeling with 343. Those WORLD FINALS in the tents are like Fyre Fest
Gotta cut costs! How else is the head of 343 Industries going to go home with over $4,000,000.00 per year? Actually hiring a building might have meant 3 fewer vacations for her! Don't get me started on the low wages and horrible working conditions for those at the bottom. Death to Microsoft.
It’s crazy how quickly we forget their mistakes but seeing all of them laid out next to each other really makes you angry at how they seem to always have been incompetent. The quality control is absent. The logic is out the window. The respect of the player is non existent. It’s simply infuriating to know that they have all of the right funding, tools and possibility yet they still screw everything EVERY. TIME. It really makes you appreciate how much Bungie was passionate about their creation. They crafted such timeless masterpieces with the mentality that the player was always right.
It has nothing to do with the player always being right. Bungie had good ideas, good writers, good developers, and a devotion to creativity. That’s why Halo 1-Reach worked
"We"? "How quickly _we_ forget their mistakes"? Who is this "we" you're talking about? Because every long-term halo fan _I've_ ever known has noticed *every* blunder 343 has made and *none* of us have forgotten. Some fans have Stockholm for 343, and I'm guessing that's what you mean by "we", but "we" the long-term halo fans have left remembered every problem, "we" never forgot.
As a former Halo player that fell off with Halo 4, but had no idea about online communities and dev posts until I switched over to Destiny and Bungie, this video was an eye opener. Fantastic editing and really informative. Well done Marco!

Holy hell 343 needs to just be shut down. Start a new studio, Microsoft, cut your losses and just give them up. This video is a great compilation of the absolute destruction of this franchise. Halo infinite is not a “return to halo”. It’s just a husk of nothing that has a Halo coat of paint
You're right, it's nothing, literally, cause it's missing a long laundry list of core features and is offering nothing in the way of content in it's place.
343i has been parading around the corpse of Halo ever since Microsoft killed it. Rigor mortis had set in at Halo 4, and by Infinite there was barely a corpse left to exploit.
The video is excellently constructed, informative as hell, but just as agravating as it brings back memories of the smaller problems that you forget about over the years. Like when Team Slayer in the MCC (a traditionally two-team gamemode) started spawning players on a third, Green team. And it seems like with Infinite, the same issues remain, specifically with netcode. And now, financial issues are also present with the store. Absolutely maddening.
Normally I would prefer a commentated video with a normal/creative use of refernces. But this approach of telling a history I was not a part/aware of had me entertained the whole time. Really cool work!

This is BY FAR the best video critique of the 343 era ever. What's so amazing is that you didn't say a single word, you took everything that 343 said (most was clearly bullshit) and then followed it up with reactions from the community. It's the best timeline of events, and I can only imagine how hard it was to edit. You really told a compelling and interesting story through documented video, and that my friend, is amazing. You could honestly give the franchise to 3 college dudes in a garage and I'd bet money that they make a better game, it won't be nearly as polished because they don't have nearly as much money. But I'd rather a rough gem then a polished piece of crap

I can never forgive 343 for what they did to the MCC. When they made the E3 announcement I was almost in tears. I simply couldn't wait to play Halo: CE online with a large player base at launch; it was my most anticipated game in years. But the broken launch killed it, and it took years for 343 to fix some of the problems. Even today it's still common to get booted from the game with phantom "connection issues", which of course leads to ever-increasing matchmaking bans that the player has no control over. What a joke. 11 years is enough. It's time to hand Halo over to an entirely new development team and demote 343 to work on a Doritos Crash Course remake...but who am I kidding, they'd probably screw that up too.

I will say though, I like the depth they went into with chief and cortana. Why do I feel like another company would do everything better?
Idk if anyone else feels the same way but 343 has always came across as egocentric In the public eye. They would literally rather die than live In the shadow of Bongo.
@quicknfearless lol
@quicknfearless Destiny is trash

Nope
It was about humanities character development through the events that unfolded.
They said “what if chief witnessed the greatest story of all time?”
343 said “what if chief was the greatest story of all time”
But nobody really cares about 1 guy as much as we care about humanity and the universe as a whole.
We’re clearly seeing here which formula was better and more entertaining.
Bungies formula grew Halo into a story that was world renowned.
343’s formula is arguably shrinking the fan-base…
Thank you! Try telling that to a 343 fanboy and they'll throw in the nostalgia card and dismiss it as "Bungie good, 343 bad"
Halo was about trying to survive an alien invasion
To be honest the second they said Infinite would be a “Master Chief story” I just went “Oh…”

I feel like a chump for ever liking halo in the first place hahahah
People like to complain a lot about how negative halo fans are, but after watching this, I don't think they get enough credit for just how patient and hopelessly optimistic a good majority of them have been toward 343, when they clearly don't deserve it.
So grateful my nut shot made it into this 😂 Absolutely wonderful watch, very entertaining, and professionally edited. Good job dude!
that shot is pretty much Halo canon at this point

If it makes you feel any better, I've watch this video twice and plan to watch it again in the near future.
You should also watch C3Sabertooth's "We Were Forerunner" video!
Just fire 343 already. Give the franchise to id software
Bonnie is gone. 500 more to go
Well she left and halo infinite is pretty much canceled.
Bonny Bonnie got booted, really booted
Well, this has convinced me (more than I already was) 343 is not only incompetent, but will never be competent. Microsoft needs to clean house, fire management and get some people who actually give a damn in there.
I know some people who know how to make a Halo game! Watch the Halo making-of documentaries and developer commentaries, they might just give us a clue to solve this mystery!!
Bonnie Ross gone, Kikki Wolfkill gone, Frank O'Conner gone (today)......maybe what is left of 343 can make a comeback. nah, just fire everyone
Now do the exact same style of montage showing the absolute hype, success, and magic the actual real Halo games achieved. Just so there is finally no more confusion about what Halo is, and what made it special. We could point to those two videos and say "don't do this, do this"
Yes!!!
Real.
This needs to be top comment.
Dude I completely agree
Can I copy your comments to see if it gets read?
A true UA-cam masterpiece. The type of internet journalism that we should all praise.
With all the quality studios Microsoft has bought I think it's time to hand this franchise to Id Software. 343i is an F tier developer that should have been replaced long ago.
Couldn’t agree more. I have no idea why 343 are given so many chances after so many failures
id Software having a crack at Halo would be amazing.
You think Id software wants to deal with this pathetic excuse of a fan base?
@@ultraego6678 Yes.
@@user-zo5jo3ox5g the games are failures to us, the fans but it must be performing OK commercially or 343 would have been axed by now.
I've officially watched this single video so many times that I've spent more hours on it than in playing Halo: Infinite's campaign
Only sheep, copium addicts, and hopium addicts quickly forget. Real people quit this shit right after Halo 4s launch.

Fantastic editing and really informative. Well done Marco!
A former halo player that had no idea about online communities and dev posts? Halo was all about that for literally every former halo game so 🤔

Surely by this 3rd game in, the gamers will finally submit and realize 343 knows what's best for Halo.. right? No? Ok. Guess we will finally deliver a TV show and rewrite your blessed trilogy so you have no choice but to accept us.
When Bungie made a halo game they’ve actually take time, care and patience to make the game fun. Even with halo 2 hellish development you can tell there’s passion and ambition to make a great game
When 343 make a Halo game, they’ve released in a buggy state with no passion ambition and care. They wanted to please fans but they’ve divided the fanbase even more

@@mistermelancholy7698 I'm not gonna praise them for releasing a quarter of a Halo game after having 6 years to make it..
Let's not talk about the fact that if you even critique their game in any manner they deem "angry", they'll just perma ban you from their forums
Normally I would prefer a commentated video with a normal/creative use of refernces. But this approach of telling a history I was not a part/aware of had me entertained the whole time. Really cool work!

This has to be my favorite commentary on Halo, like ever.
343's legacy is one of incompetence and a complete lack of vision.
On another note, I am now very annoyed and it goes to show how time makes you forget things. This video will forever be a reminder. Thank you!
Genuinely wish 343 as a company was never put together. I can’t believe this clown company got the Halo franchise. Absolute disgraces
You could honestly give the franchise to 3 college dudes in a garage and I'd bet money that they make a better game, it won't be nearly as polished because they don't have nearly as much money. But I'd rather a rough gem then a polished piece of crap
That's pretty harsh, have you played mcc since 2019? It's alot better now, and it's even on pc.... I feel bad for 343, they are actually trying now, and halo infinites campaign shows that.
@@jasperfox6821 ah yes, let's support them for finally fulfilling the promise they made of the game on launch 5 YEARS AFTER
@@SneccTheSnake yeah, they did fuck up in the past....every game dev has done that. Yeah, MCCs launch was bad, and yeah, they fixed it years later.... and yeah, 5 was bad, 4 wasn't very good, but these fuck ups, are in the past.
@@jasperfox6821 so you're saying we shouldn't pay attention to their past repetition of consistently failing to give ANY amount of decency when it comes to the halo franchise because "well they're trying now"
Which is not true btw, they released infinite and then immediately went comms dark and we haven't heard anything except "oh we'll work on it"
I can never forgive 343 for what they did to the MCC.
Happened to me actually, and I've only played for a month so far. It's 2022 and I have to fuck with the menus to actually get the games I selected

maybe they toss the series to another company and make a reboot starting at halo 4 and working with a coherent story all the way through? Be really cool to see that happen. I will say though, I like the depth they went into with chief and cortana. Why do I feel like another company would do everything better?
Almost 2 years and still no part 2.
Idk if anyone else feels the same way but 343 has always came across as egocentric In the public eye. They would literally rather die than live In the shadow of Bongo. I think they refuse to reintroduce old maps because that would be admiting defeat. They are clearly talented, they have a lot of potential- but I think they need to get out of their own way and do what works. Rather they try to reinvent the wheel Every. Single. Time.
Talented how? As a team at least they have failed again again and cannot make full, polished good game to save their lives.
I mean that's what happens when the head of the company only cares about diversity and nothing else.
