I have one of these in my wardrobe! Belonged to my Great x 5 grandfather. His name is even written inside, very exciting to see when I took it apart to maintain it. Internally its in very good shape. The key it plays is slightly odd so I've never really played much on it. Its nice to hear the kind of music it was designed to play! I will have a go tonight to see if I can replicate something similar!
That's very cool. I've never seen one of those played. Those were the first accordions to hit the stage in the US, back in 1843 with Moddy Stanwood playing one for the Ethiopian Serenaders in Boston. There's the foundation of American Popular music for you right there.
Because these instruments were not set up for chords however they did have two drone valves which you can see and hear me activate about halfway through.
A flutina was recovered from the wreck of the Terror in the Arctic. Wonderful to hear this as those poor men must have.
Great Playing Mr. Culgan !!! I Love my Flutinas / Accordeon Diatoniques, they're a Real "Blast from the Past" !!!
Straight from the time machine! Great!
