How to Fix the Indicators on Your BMW E30

- In this video I show you how to fix your indicators. There are 4 potential problem areas: Bulbs, Hazard Switch, Flasher Relay and Indicator Stalk.
1. Check if any indicator bulbs are burnt out and replace them if they are.

Hi, I cannot thank you enough for this! Never felt confident to go into the steering shroud of my E30. Just did and sorted the relay which was screwing with my turn signals. Incidentally with so much dashboard real estate available, I wonder why BMW had to put this relay behind removing the steering wheel, airbag, shroud, etc.

Thank you so much for this video man. Saved me almost $300. Took it to a mechanic and they told me I have a problem with all the harness. Turned out to be just the relay!!! $12.99 from part store fixed the problem.
I have e30 1989 325i convertible. When I look up Flasher Relay I have choice for two prong or three prong relay.
Does anyone know which one fits my 1989 e39 325i?
@@jimjohn7623 I would say just take out the one you have now, take it to autozone or something and have them match it.

very helpful now mine has the following problems, left blinker flashes very which made think that was the light bulb so I've changed it and still the same, low beams don't work so I have to use high beams all the time, reverse lights don't work neither so I don't know where to check on that one, so thanks to you know I can think on how and where to start checking thanks again and hope you have great holidays!
can also be a ground on the bulb connector. 3 wire leads to the bulbs not sure what is what but if the wire are mixed up in the wrong place it will do that. mine didnt have the actual plug that connects to the housing of the bulb so the wires were mixed up, later i found out wire goes where and bought the connector plug.

ive checked my fuses,relays, and have replaced the stalk and still nothing worked. only my hazards work ive asked around and no one seems to know this issue

You need to replace the light blob and inspect which is OFF and replace that.
Mine is different, when I switch to the left or right , the lights just stay on, they don’t click , and aswell with the hazards , they just stay one but won’t flash/click. Any suggestions?

Usually it's your bulbs that's goes bad, not the switch, check the front and back of the car and you will find the prob

*edit* the pins on the back of the indicator housing on the front bumper are also problematic.. Check those as well.. My right side indicators pins were bent to shit.. Well they still are I still gotta straighten them still.... Wait... Everythings backwards in the rhd model?? Even the HVAC panel?

My BMW (E46) 320D has a weird problem, all indicators are working but I am not getting any ticking sound nor am I getting any indication inside my dashboard, I have checked so many things but I have no further lead to go for, any one can shed some light i would appreciate, Does anyone know where is the flasher unit on 320d and I am also not getting warning lights on my dash Z(Clock console) to warn me if my indicators, High Beam, fog lights etc are on, so it appears to be not just the indicators but a whole lot of things, seems like something common has failed, i have checked each and every fuse that I could lay my hands on, all are Ok.

Do you consider the turn stalk to be fixable? I have the SAME problem, but not able to get it very easily.
