    I have the Koni/Ground Control Coilover kit, I would highly recommend it for $1k you can't beat it. You get adjustable perches, custom spring rates, and koni yellows.

      Do they have to be welded on your stock spindles or do they come with their own? not a bad deal either way.

    • @wcovey25
      @wcovey25 3 роки тому +2

      @@CARSTUDIOYT it’s a strut conversion, it’s no welding required if you want the stock range of adjustments. I shortened my front housings 1.5” to make it so I could go lower then 2.2 inch in the front. If you do this you can take up to 2.5” out of the strut but you have to use the 325ix front shocks then, not the regular 325i/e shocks. Most people on R3V say this is the best setup for under $3k for street/track use depending on what spring rates you get. The spec e30 racecars run the stiffest spring rates but that would feel like trash on the street. I got 440 in/lbs front and 660in/lbs rear because I’m planning on turboing my m50 and don’t want squat and it’s better for handling without being too harsh on the street. I’d recommend calling or emailing ground control about custom spring rates, just describe what you want to do and they will give you specs.

    heres the e30 must do's.
    motor/trans/diff/cabs/subframe bushings . they 100% are thrashed and you should defiantly replace them(300ish$ on condor speedshop)
    shifter/clutch stop is an amazing upgrade
    z3/e36 steering rack, one of the best upgrades for these cars
    new steering wheel, toss that sailboat sized wheel out lmao
    pedal bushings (20$) so worth it to make it feel dialed in
    coilovers or new shocks and springs, again probably thrashed and should replace to get the most out of your e30
    and to top it all off some good rubber with 16" wheels to get that hotboi stance
    perfect list to make your e30 feel amazing!

    On my e30 very, I run H&R touring cup springs and Bilstein struts and rear shocks along with rear shock mount reinforcements. As a long time e30 owner, I recommend a thorough brake overhaul/inspection on any recently purchased e30. Also change our all soft fuel lines and filters. Thanks for the video!

    The shifter bushings and DSSR are enough to massively improve the shifting. Chassis mount is a can of worms with having to upgrade engine/trans mounts too.
    Got that clutch stop and it does feel way better!
    A great upgrade is all the window/sunroof switches, change them out for the newer E36/46 ones. Much nicer looking and feeling.

    You’re supposed to match your transmission and engine mount durometers having solid engine mounts with oem transmission mounts puts unnecessary strain on your transmission housing

    I have a late 1989 e30 318i also Bronzit Beige Metallic Coupe but here in Aus the engine is a M40 (Series 2). I sure wish parts were easier to come by like they are in the States. It was my mates grandparents that passed over a decade ago. Never seen much sun nor rain. Totally rust free - apart from the outside of brake booster.
    The some fool drove into my drivers side with a truck and metal bull bar.
    Everything is straight, but it has fkd the radiator, cos the top right (if looking towards front) plastic outlet cracked a bit.. Naturally, the radiator outlet has to be opposite side as US models. The grills, RHS quarter panel, RHS lights etc, and the hood/bonnet are all bent.
    Otherwise, the engine and everything turns on right away. I lifted it up, and underneath still looks like it came out the factory a few months ago.
    However, trying to get my paint code, the series 2 grills (most people call them EU style) and other bits is insane. I am pretty sure, there is just one place that buys all the wrecks of this colour as he wanted $5k for a used hood. $3k for the RHS quarter panel. $800- for the plastic grill. $1000 for headlights and it goes on like this.
    Guess be better off doing a whole engine and trans swap (as it's auto) but I really wanted to keep it totally clean and stock with minor upgrades. Like the tinting, better BMW rims, adjustable coil-overs... but fk me

    • @CARSTUDIOYT
      @CARSTUDIOYT  7 місяців тому

      Man that sucks! I wish you the best finding parts. I wouldnt be afraid to swap it especially if its auto. It wont diminish value.

    FYI anyone thinking about getting a solid chassis mount shifter you're going to need solid engine and transmission mounts unless you want to royally fuck your transmission. I went with the supreme short shift kit from garagistic + a dssr from them as well their solid selector joint. That combo gets you really close to the feeling of a chassis mount shifter without the unbearable vibration.
    Another mod that really improves handling is swapping in a Z3 rack. Going from 3.2 to 2.7 turns lock to lock makes the car feel quicker in the corners and paired with a short shifter + suspension refresh makes the car feel brand new. It's a simple job with plenty of info online and garagistic sells the adapter kit you need for it as well.

    • @CARSTUDIOYT
      @CARSTUDIOYT  2 роки тому

      ^ 100% on both, i agree. I plan on doing a z3 swap but haven’t yet.

    • @JohnnyFappleseed.
      @JohnnyFappleseed. Рік тому

      2.7 from 3.2 isn’t too much. The E30s are 4 turns, which is why the Z3 rack feels so good.

    Any more info on the e36 console swap? Did you have to remove the carpet to install?

    • @CARSTUDIOYT
      @CARSTUDIOYT  3 роки тому

      nope didnt remove the carpet. You basically just pull the complete center console out of an E36 and set it down in the E30 and use self tapping screws to mount it. Theres no trimming necessary. The armrest is the same way but the mount has to be trimmed and test fitted a lot to get the right height and contour of the trans tunnel. its just a trial and error thing til you have the armrest mounted then the center console just slides over that.

      My car is an original is model so it had it from factory. They have 5 plastic brackets that support it and then its bolted on the sides. The brackets can easily be made with a 3D printer or even some L brackets from lowes.
