  • Now that the chassis is finished it's time to start doing body work and modifications. The firewall has had many holes drilled in it from when it was a parade car so I want to weld in all those holes as well as add an area for the new brake and clutch pedals.

Coming along really well. Strange those spot welds would give up, good catch.

That was crazy but it's solid now.

Sir…I am watching your videos with great interest! Thank you for your videos. I recently got a hold of a 49 Jeepster (I am currently building a 72 Jeep commando with a built LS). Anyhooooo…back to the 49…My body came on an old wagon frame witch was an abandon project from the 60’s. Lacking a correct frame I am going to attempt to build it on a 1988 Chevy S-10 pickup chassis (2x4) with an LS motor for power (since it is what I know). Luckily my body is in great shape with very minimal rust and only a small dent. However the firewall has been hacked up with someone attempting to find where they want to have the steering poke through. It looks like the did this with hacksaws and hand grenades. The floor boards have a poopy attempt at patching also. Thank God for your videos that give me hope that it is possible to breath new life into these old rigs. For me the biggest obstacle will be shortening the frame and mounting the body to it once I have all the mods finished. Please please please do not quit posting. I hope to shake your hand one day and thank you face to face somewhere. Btw. I am in Oregon. Are you anywhere close? Just curious.

I am so glad my videos are helping you with your major Jeepster project. You're so fortunate to have a rust free Jeepster body like mine. It's one thing to have to build new fire walls and floors but rust in crazy places is so very difficult and time consuming to make right. An S-10 frame and modern LS is a great choice for low cost parts with huge potential. I plan to keep posting videos till this project is finished. I am in Salt Lake City but I lived in Salem Oregon in the 90's and my Jeepster was also in Oregon back in the 70's. I hope to retire in some day and we want to travel the West Coast again so maybe we can shake hands some day. Thank you for your comments, good luck with your project and thanks for watching. Cheers!

S-10 frame should be a pretty close fit, popular replacement choice.

@@peashooterc9475 thanks man. I sure hoped so when I decided to use the s-10 frame. I picked up a 88 sonar truck that isn’t running and no bed on it for $500 bucks! Just waiting on warmer weather to start sorting everything out.

👍 I’m fairly certain with enough time and money you could build a rocket and land on the moon.

Now that is a thought. Hmm, a rocket? Know a billionaire, or two, that wants to travel? Thank you for the comment and thanks for watching but no rockets in my future.
