After I watched the original Legit PPV series, I had to have one! I searched the auctions for months and finally got a 2014 Caprice with only 68,000 miles. Only paid $6,500. California car no rust. Love that car. I park it on the street in front of my house. No more crime! I can't thank Alex enough for his inspiration!

@@LegitStreetCars, I have one question, apart from the Mercedes giveaway on your previous video, do you plan to do another giveaway on your next project car??? Perhaps the Black Grand National or the white Corvette???
Electric cars are hypocritical. Look at the amount of specialty metals and rare earths compared to aluminum and steel in an ice car. Now look at Lithium required and where it's mined and human rights violations. Not to mention the amount of great oil and gas technical jobs lost that were employing Americans and Canadians. It's also in cold weather the ice shines (no pun intended). You get immediate heat as well quick refill. You can wait upto 30 hrs waiting for charge and due to cold weather and keeping battery warm 1/2 the mileage per charge.
That adjustable thing is a quarter-wave resonator, sometimes called a Helmholtz resonator. The reason it's adjustable is not to change the exhaust tone as a whole, it's so that you can eliminate drone at a specific frequency where the length dictates the resonance frequency (more specifically, it's based on 1/4 the wavelength of the drone).
*23:00** FWIW (everyone reading this), if your car acts weird once 30 seconds has passed, it's probably related to 'closed loop' operation. First 30 secondsish are open loop on the MAP sensor.*

Always great to see you take the time to properly diagnose and repair the issue with your vehicle. SBC is a great engine, also I have had good luck with the Ford 302. I was in Florida and took a Airboat tour and the boat had a supercharged LS engine with straight headers, awesome power and sound, had to wear earplugs. I highly recommend the airboat rides, incredible power and reliability.
That was an amazing display of ‘spidey sense’ to track down that broken plug! Imagine taking it to a shop and having it returned after a week with no clue!!! Well done!!!

Dang, I miss working on my Trans Am. Engine was so easy to work on. It's always cool to see your thought process in diagnosing the issue. Cutting that injector open was just funny, I got a laugh out of it. Great job in making an unexpected problem into such an entertaining and informative video.
Alex glad you almost at a million subs. You actually work on your cars and finish your projects. I just really enjoy watching an actual master tech work. Thank you.
The J pipes are for attenuating drone like Solo said, and it seems the optimal length for the pipe is 30.5". Someone online did some math to figure that out and when I built my own J pipes I used that length. It totally killed the drone on my '14 Caprice, which was impressive due to how ear splitting it was before. Glad to see some more Caprice content! Hopefully you decide to LSA the car around the time I'm doing the same. Would love to see your video on something like that!

You could also check the resistance in ohms of each spark plug with a multi meter. There could be a vast difference in resistance/ohms between all 8 spark plugs.🤔🤯
I also custom welded a Solo J pipe to my exhaust on my LS swapped RX7, it is adjustable to change the frequencies that the waves bounce into and hit the cap, and bounce back to the exhaust stream to cancel out drone. How you tune it is get a sound analyzer on your phone, and you will see one freq really higher in db then the others, then go and look at what length you need to adjust pipe to cancel it out. On my tin can RX7 it BOOMED at like 38hz and that was 25" so I adjust it to that and now zero drone when cruising. My exhaust sounds sooooo good and no drone. Makes a difference in smaller cars, the caprice has mass to help absorb some of those freq. So you are tuning for a certain freq not to change the overall volume. Cool find for $8K!!
Great video Alex. Loved the diagnosis progression. The PPV sounds so awesome. How long did it really take to figure out the bad fuel injector and spark issue. Keep up the great work!!

He tests the oils for customers at the CAT Diesel Headquarters across the road in their laboratory and amazes them with its quality and performance in diesel motors small and large. The Cummins guys nearby allow Amsoil to be used by owners in their maintenance program due to witnessing the 1 million (mile or kilometre i dont remember....) regular teardown ( as a maintenance schedule) and seeing that the oil stays clean and the motor is like a third of the normal expected wear............This Man had so many stories of great outcomes from AMSOIL! Also, I’m a Chevy guy, got the LT2 in my C8. I like that Caprice though.
Even if you aren't getting a lot of extra power from E85, it has cooling benefits as well. I almost wonder if you'd get more power after another tuning session with the new injectors, the old ones were looking tired. Really need a ton of flow for that corn juice.

Had the Solo setup on my Chevy SS. Adjusting the J pipe length won't change the sound really, at least not a noticeable amount in my experience, but it will change what frequencies it best combats. Porsche has just built a new refinery to make this fuel in Chile. Battery cars are not the end of internal combustion engine cars. Check it out. Currently Porsches testing the fuel and racing their cars on it.
I may have missed it… but the rev matching could be part of the police package… ford has it where if you jam on the brakes the computer goes into pursuit mode and it keeps the engine in the power band and down shifts aggressively as well….

Hey Alex Porsche has developed a synthetic fuel ( E-Fuel) that uses carbon dioxide to make a super clean fuel. It makes the internal combustion engine a zero carbon footprint. Porsche has just built a new refinery to make this fuel in Chile. Battery cars are not the end of internal combustion engine cars. Check it out. Currently Porsches testing the fuel and racing their cars on it.
Just feel weird without Peter! Where’s Peter?! 😂😂😂
🤣
wow that's crazy I just ordered 28 inch tires from Priority Tire awesome service
Where's Peter???😢
He left for a new job.
I may have missed it… but the rev matching could be part of the police package… ford has it where if you jam on the brakes the computer goes into pursuit mode and it keeps the engine in the power band and down shifts aggressively as well….
Might be asking yourself “Alex how do you stay so good looking?” 😂😂
He does use those anti-hair loss products!
I see the cobra in the shoppppp let’s go can’t wait for that series
Where’s Peter been!?!?
Hey Alex! So, it wasn't lifters or valve springs AT ALL! I was completely wrong! D'oh! But a busted fuel injector AND spark plug? Whoda thought THAT? I bet even YOU didn't! Looked like your spark plug had partially turned to POWDER? Whaaat?
Well, I'm pleased you fixed it without major engine disassembly mate! That car sounds absolutely FILTHY! I love it!
The car looks quite similar to the VE/VF series Holden Commodores as we call them here in Australia. Be VERY nice to have one o THOSE, but I'm happy enough so far with my 3.6 litre d.i. VZ wagon that purrs like a kitten! - And I like kitty cats! She only drinks E91+
Fun video, but now your red wagon is sad! Whadda ya gunna do to make HIM smile again? I smell another a CTSV upgrade video!
I own a 2012 chevy caprice ppv as well. You think the Rev match is awesome now? Install a g8 console with a g8 shifter and you'll fall in love even more with the Rev match haha. The factory g8 manual shift mode with 2 wires added makes the tap shift in the caprice work. No computer programming needed haha.
I was hoping to see new fuel injector flow on your fuel injector tester. Great Video as usual!
What happened to Peter??? Is he on vacation?
I got super excited seeing videos on the caprice but then I got even more excited seeing the red cobra inside the shop hoping it’s getting ready for work and videos
I miss Peter where is he
I love this channel, .and the bloopers makes it humble and more relatable! :)
"I haven't driven this car in, really, you know....The last year or so"
May I make a suggestion: Italian tuneup.....
😁
I mean I'm all about those but not sure it would have worked this time
Caprice PPV again FINALLY!!!! im so excited to see more of this car. one of my dream cars NGL.
