- This is the bonus track from the Karnivool album Themata (2005), cover of Tasmin Archer's Sleeping Satellite.
I couldn't find another High Quality upload so I decided to put this on UA-cam.
I'm also going to upload their cover of Gotye - The Only Way in HQ, check it out ;)
Enjoy Vooligans! :)

Lyrics:
I blame you for the moonlit night
And the dream that died
Where the eagles fly
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wonder why
Are the seas still dry
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
Did we fly to the moon to soon,
Did we squander the chance
In the rush of the rays
The reasons as we chase
The last good romance
And still we try
To justify the waste
For the taste of a mans
Greatest invention
I blame you for the moonlit sky
And the dream that died
Where the eagles fly
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wonder why
Are the seas still dry
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
Have we got what it takes to advance
Did we speak to soon
If the world is so green
Then why does it scream
Under a blue moon
We wonder why
The earths sacrifice
For the price of its
Greatest invention
I blame you for the moonlit sky
And the dream that died
Where the eagles fly
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wander why
Are the seas still dry
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
Anyone else still coming back to listen to this one? Damn it’s good
Hell yeah, I listen often
2024 still listening 🖤
This song isn't in Themata and it's not sung by Ian Kenny?
Constantly, still annoyed it's not on spotify 😭🥺
Come back again for the gazillionth time! I cannot tell you how much I love this!!!
Don’t let that song vanish. It deserves to live forever in performance of another artists
Fucken hey, it’s beautiful
Why another artist i'm the artist
Absolutely,its so nostalgic 🤘🏻
I discovered karnivool because i was listening to sleeping satellite on the radio and i thought "hey, a rock cover of this song would be great!". So i found this on youtube and it was a very original cover, it wasn't what i was expecting, so i started listening to their music and became addicted. Now i have all of their albums thanks to this song.
Led Zeta No you didn't.
It happened to me in the same way as well!
@@ramsesbruyperez8499 no it didnt
i discovered Karnivool because a dog came up to me once and made a noise that sounded like "KARNI" and then I played a game on the amiga later that day called "Zool" and I was just thinking to myself, wow, wouldn't it be cool if there was a band called KARNI ZOOL?! So i took off my pants and typed in KARNIZOOL into the internet and now im a fan and have many tshirts and albums. Thanks for saving my life Karnizool
And lets be honest, you didnt pay for shit
Surely one of the best covers of all time...
This is a cover?
Some 18yrs later, I keep coming back to this. Vool just hit it on the head
Man I totally LOVE how some Lead Guitarists are 2nd (backing) Vocals and are TOTALLY UNDERESTIMATED... and suddenly the band decides to let them sing and we get such amazing LEAD singers just like Mark! Karnivool has real talent One by One...
100 percent! I feel this way about System's hypnotise and mesmerize where Daron Malakian does some great vocal work :)
How can this not be on iTunes. Outrageous
If the Grammys had a category for best cover this would win
Karnivool A+
Not on spotify for some stupid reason! Best cover ever!
Shani lie
Itunes neither...
Troy Starkey agreed
lets start a petition! haha
i see you're a fan of redvsblue
...upvote
I adore the Tasmin Archer original, but I love the rock vibe on this cover. Karnivool did a fantastic job with this song!
try bryan rice
🤙🏿!
🖖🏾agRee💙😎👌
Holy shit, didn't realise hoss had this golden voice O.O
Kudos to that man
All these music platforms, and NONE of them carry this brilliant cover version! 😞
Damn, I wish Mark would've sing some tracks on Karnivool. It's not too late, maybe on the next album...
Karnivool just made this song even catchier.
This band is absolute fire
This is how you do a cover! It has the raspiness of the original vocals.. they did the song/original vocalist justice :)
Cannot stop playing this song. Shame it's not on ITunes. Brilliant cover
I've literally played this song ten times over. I just can't get enough of Mark's vocals. He may not have the beautiful, harmonious voice that Ian has, but damn he can deliver a performance. He should really feature more in Vool's other songs.
Totally agree, love this cover 😊 💜🎶🎵😳
I still remember my brother and I rocking out to this on the computer at my parents house after downloading it from Limewire. Fucking memories, man. One of my favourite covers of all time FOR SURE! 🤘😎
im pleasantly surprised to find covers of this song. im glad this band actually re-arranged it and made it their own
This needs to be on Amazon music. AMAZING cover!
Bruhhh I don't normally like covers but this is such a bangeeeeer, I love both now
3:06 to 3:26 My favourite part of the song. Wish they'd played it 2x or 3x.
I love this song like Forrest Gump loved Jenny.
I really liked this guy's voice. Great song.
You'd probably like Birds of Tokyo aswell he's the singer
@@awkander I don't think Ian Kenny (Lead Singer of Karnivool and BOT) Sings this cover, I think it's one of the other members of the band - you can hear Ians backing vocals though.
Now I wanna hear the original because of how beautiful this is...
The original is a underrated gem of a pop song. Sounds a bit like a mix of Sade, Seal and Savage Garden
love this version
This is phenomenal
I love this song so much !!
Thanks for posting this! Awesome song. These guys, Codec from America and Katatonia from Sweden are the future of music.
Codec are amazing the vocalist Greg Norris was in the band 32 Leaves after Codec he joined two other bands (M.E.N.D and Retina) 32 Leaves are actually back recording new material
Really wish this was on itunes
Figata assoluta....!!! Love Karnivool ...orgoglio Australiano
Cool ... --- this song is already beautiful .. how ever they gave justice on sweet rock cover,,
really love this song
Best version of this song. Evah!
Powerful Hoss.
I LOVE IT!! This is a great cover
Outstanding song fucking excellent
Jeez; is there no end to their talent? I hope not!
This was a nice find indeed. I heard the Tasmin Archer song playing today in the background so thought I would revisit it - then found this - VERY nice.
This is beautiful cover. Nice job guys x
What the hell, I somehow missed this one :O Awesome!
Absolutely brilliant cover :) Take an allready brilliant pop song and cover it like this is rare. Shall I say that this album is in heavy rotation on my stereo ;)
That's one of that cases when the cover is good or better as the original song. :)
never better, good enough though
Ilmam Mourtada A song can, from a subjective standpoint, be better than the original if it is sung in different genre than the original track (or with different instruments), as that genre pleases the particular listener more...
Can't agree - the original is on another level.
I can think of a few honorable mentions:
Tool's cover of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin
Metallica's cover of Turn the Page by Bob Seger
Karnivool's cover of The Only Way by Gotye
In ALL instances of the aforementioned covers, the "new version" added something that was entirely different from the original, and in so doing, the cover-band made it their own, for the better.
As they say, imitation is the greatest form of flattery.
@@jamesmason8436 It's almost like art is subjective.
Guitarist sung, did drums and guitar for this song. Unsure of bass. He's a talented man.
Really? I thought it was only guitar and vocals, although Goddard is the one that recorded guitar, drumms and some voices in THEMATA
Jon Stockman, their bassist, has played on every Karnivool release: their EP Persona (heavily underrated), and their three masterpieces, Themata, Sound Awake, and Asymmetry. I honestly think he is the special sauce and the secret weapon for the Vool! 🤘
@@kazukihiratani Don't forget about their S/T EP from 1999
different guitarist. goddard didnt sing here, hoss did
BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!!! LOOOOVEEE IT!
It's certainly a great rendition but I don't agree wiht you, I still prefer the 1st one better.
I love this version *___*
U ROCK!
Seems I wasn't the only metalhead back in the day that had Tasmin Archer's masterpiece stuck in their head.
this song reminds me of my first year in college. what a nostalgia. ugh, just wow.
2020
Love this!
The Gotye cover is boss too. They make it there own like this cover.
Really happy i found this.
Good work... Excellent cover song... 👏👏👏🙏👍
INCREÍBLE 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Fantastic!!!!
Superb cover
I’m just finding this 🤯. It’s beautiful
Sensational 🙏
Nice ode to the early 90s here.
YES. LOVE IT!
Awesome cover 🤙
Soooooo good!!!!
Damm this cover is amazing 🤯❤❤❤❤
I love this cover! However, the lyrics are wrong in the description. This is how they should be:
I blame you for the moonlit sky
And the dream that died
With the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wonder why
Are the seas still dry?
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
Did we fly to the moon too soon?
Did we squander the chance?
In the rush of the race
The reason we chase is lost in romance
And still we try
To justify the waste
For a taste of man's greatest adventure
I blame you for the moonlit sky
And the dream that died
With the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wonder why
Are the seas still dry?
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
Have we lost what it takes to advance?
Have we peaked too soon?
If the world is so green
Then why does it scream under a blue moon?
We wonder why
If the earth's sacrificed
For the price of it's greatest treasure
I blame you for the moonlit sky
And the dream that died
With the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wonder why
Are the seas still dry?
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
And when we shoot for stars
What a giant step
Have we got what it takes
To carry the weight of this concept?
Or pass it by like a shot in the dark
Miss the mark with a sense of adventure
I blame you for the moonlit sky
And the dream that died
With the eagles flight
I blame you for the moonlit nights
When I wonder why
Are the seas still dry?
Don't blame this sleeping satellite
this is Tasmin Archer's version. Karnivool omitted the last verse and chorus and replaced it with the outro and "whooah"
Maybe it's not the best thing to say here but Mark Hosking has such a unique and haunting voice. He is better than Ian IMO. He shoud totally start a band in which he sings... Or he can sing one or two songs on Karnivool albums. Anyways we need to hear more of these golden vocals!
Tuna Öztürk I agree with you that he has a fucking awesome voice, but to me Ian takes the cake. I see you have a European name of some kind and I notice a lot of good prog that I hear out of Europe has singers like this. Maybe it’s a cultural preference? Either way I love them both! Bjorn Strid is a beast
Hmm I don't know if it's a cultural thing but it's a fact that my all time favourite singer is Katatonia's singer and he is a European. So maybe :) Somehow his voice sounds deeper.
One of the best
Killer cover...
Jeeeezzz what a cover
fuck this is good !! great job people !!
WOOOOOOOOOOOW
great
Very powerful version. "Not too bad". 👍🏻
@kentabenno Themata was released in 2005, and Mark Hosking joined them in 2003.
versão linda desta música!
quite goooood
The best of both worlds ! A hanting melody with concrete Rock sauce !!! And j'll take that heavy tribal beat for dessert ! Yep, good stuff !
.....yeah this is pretty good
Love this version and the original version.
@kentabenno I love it how you assure someone that he's not on the album and then ask everyone else to confirm whether you're actually right or not
why is this not on spotify ???
This is a very good cover, although I still prefer the Tasmin Archer original myself - and I'm a fan of Karnivool as well. For those that are looking to track down this song, the Themata single/EP contains Sleeping Satellite as a b-side of sorts. Wouldn't mind tracking this down actually. :)
this cover is huuuuuge
Damn!
👌🏽!
💙
> WHAUUU ! ! !
Such an awesome cover! Can't wait to see these guys and DLC together (finally) next Thursday! Omg to be off it's tits haha!
Отличный кавер на крутую песню. From Russia with love!
Rock on this cover
cool!
:D
@bankobalint thank you
@swisseragonplayer mark hosking and drew goddard use a dual rec and 5150 respectively. i believe they both use fender twins for cleans.
clean
Can't find this anywhere, but tell me, is this track only from the australian released cd? I've got the UK version, and it is not on it.
what a flash
Köszi a feltöltést! Hol találtad meg ezt bónusz számot?
Őszinte leszek és elmondom, hogy igazából fogalmam sincs :D
