Don't forget about Count Noctilus that just nukes the left side of ulthuan and tends to attack the Phoenix gate by the time you've beaten the Scourge of Khaine
Also, while playing as Alarielle you get SoA building at tier III, so you can both get recruitment of them and incerase hero capability when building that in minor settlements (leaving precious main settlement slot for something else). On top of that, because it is the only tier building that you need to make, getting to SoA is much faster (since you are skipping 2 previous buildings in Chrace-chain)!
This Malekith may get realy good black guard, but by the time Naggaroth goes tier 4, you just landed with a full stack of sisters and now you have a tier 3 Naggaroth
Legend, great work with these videos. You forgot to mention the faction specific effects for Avelorn in this one - I believe those are: influence cost -25% for court intrigue actions capacity +2 for handmaidens access to rite of lileath (better magic items drop chance +50% and better spell cooldowns -30%) and loosing access to invocation of hoeth (buffs for mages)
IMO, Alarielle is the best way to do a 'proper' Ulthuan campaign because her mechanics sync so well with it. TBH, her campaign mechanics is really how the Empire Authority should have worked. Alarielle does start in the red, but unlike Franz she starts with the tools to fix it and the tools are intuitive for anyone to play with - Influence to do things like make Tiranoc and Ellyrion play nice, and of course Alliances so that she can get units the others choose to recruit via Outposts rather than having to build all the infrastructure herself. And, whereas in a Franz campaign the Electors recovering themselves denies you the chance to get something back for penalties you eat, with Alarielle them taking it back also restores your own buffs. The only real hinderance is that AI Tyrion takes a couple turns to actually get into gear and deal with the Cult of Excess, so you're kinda stuck with those penalties until he gets that sorted out no matter how hard you batter the Scourge of Khaine. Also, Alarielle unlike other monarchs doesn't reduce the upkeep cost of her bodyguards (compare to Katarin who does -50% upkeep for Ice Guard or Malekith who does that for Black Guards as well as line Druchii troops), but given how powerful Sisters of Avelorn are that honestly is okay.
you are actively making your campaign harder if you leave Tiranoc and Ellyrion alive. Nvm the fact that Tyrion usually crushes their skulls right after he's done with Dark Elves and Saphery, they are just useless factions half the time. I don't know why but the only capable high elf minor faction I've seen is Cothique and Chrace when N'kari isn't bashing their skulls in. If you're quick you can save Chrace which leaves you with them, Lothern, Tor Yvresse, Cothique, and Avelorn to hold Ulthuan.
It's counterintuitive, but I've found that you're pretty much always better off expanding south and letting the northern section of the donut stay under the control of the hostile factions. When you wipe out the dark elves and take the port you become exposed to numerous hostile factions that will declare war and constantly send raiding parties to slow your expansion. However if you just take the Phoenix Gate you can hold it reliably with a small garrison and then war with Saphery, which you can leverage to ally with Tyrion. From there, you can potentially take the southeast greenskin settlements before Eltharion, and then go west to reclaim the territory that Noctilus has conquered. After that you can either go north, or west to take out Morathi. Not only do you end up more territory that's easier to defend, but you're also weakening the other legendary lords, and are thus able to confederate them much faster.
I'm at turn 33 and see defeat pretty soon, whole left of the doughnut is nuked from vampire coast, and I'm at war with 5 factions and sitting with my starting providence and phoenix gate.
Fun fact if you do some turn 1 diplomacy you can get military access with the faction to your left and just go through the unicorn gate then take the rest of their provinces and attack the Phoenix gate later.
Just wanted to say, thanks for making all of these. I am an on/off player of this game, and haven't played nearly enough to know if they have changed the game to make it much harder or not. These videos make it much easier to decide if I want to try a new campaign or if it going to end up as a slog.
What I like to do at beginning of High Elf campaign is take the east elven province on the inner ring. They start with a small negative relations penalty and it's just a matter of time before the other AI conquers it. Conquering it first will provide a really nice province, but you'll have to sacrifice something. As Alarielle, there will be a dark elf boat coming from north. As Eltharion it's very risky and you are very time-limited because of impending demon invasion, don't forget military access with Tyrion. Tyrion should just race for it, as AI Alarielle will take it otherwise.
I remember doing said campaign and i would be interested in seeing a 20 turn guide on her campaign. I always found that by the time you are planning to take the Pheonix gate, the second dark elf army shows up there and camps if you are near a full stack. The only reliable way ive dealt with it is to ambush with my main stack and bait with a garbage lord. Even then, the gate is still difficult because it generally has some high tier units and requires alot of cheesing to beat.
In Warhammer 2 I found that you are better off ignoring the Phoenix Gate and going out via the gate next door take all the dark elf territories leaving the gate for last. Except for a fortified position the gate doesn't give the dark elves anything, it doesn't provide any income and they can't recruit from it, leaving it for last is the best way to handle it in my experience.

I also recommend Avelorn as a high elf faction; it is really immersive, in that you will think "ok, me and my high elf allies can all work together and defend Ulthuan! We'll get along great and make Ulthuan great again". But the high elf AI all have some diplomatic bonus/malus with each other. If left to their own device, they WILL declare war on each others. So you will spend more or less every second turn cursing out the useless stupid high elves because you're the only good high elf and the other ones are all fighting each others OR smelling the scent of their own fart. The other features of the high elves (IE influence-gated good traits) also reinforce this "FUCKING HIGH ELF" mentality. Amazing faction. Solid 11/10, I heartily recommend. I promise you will get angry at minimum 1 high elf per three turns.
Alarielles campaign effect regarding Ulthuan would be good a good baseline for improving the Empires issues. Yes they have the fealty mechanic but it’s so hard to increase it over the whole empire. You should get 1 fealty for each trade agreement, defensive alliance, non-aggression pact etc. you have with ALL. So you get 1 fealty if you have ONE kind of agreement with all elector counts. Right now it’s easier just smashing them all. But I think it would be better if each elector count still in power gives you unique buffs to you factionwife Middenland for example gives 10% weapon strength and +6 melee attack to infantry units faction-wide Wissenland gives +10% range & reload reduction time for missile units faction wide and so on
imo it's better to go for tor finu after liberating your first province. the orange darkelves will come with their second army either soon enough that alarielle can return in time, or they come when your second army is strong enough... considering you recruit second lord as soon as you liberated first province. you can take 2nd province and let tyrion defend you south-eastern flank, he can for some reason do that normally but he usually sx at defending the seaentrance. so your best bet is to return with alarielle and besiege the gate, take your 2nd army that should be rly good by then as reinforcement and then capture the gate so you can defend against nkaris attacks easily. you might do that as well before taking your 2nd province. don't forget to have one army defending the sea entrance that tyrion will leave open otherwise all the time. as third province i still sugguest taking the inner one oon the left side, right next to your first province. yes, they are also elves, but to be honest: if you don't hold the gates, no one will. if you grab the province outside the gates in the north as 2nd province, as sugguested in the video, defending that is way more of a struggle. if you conquered the inner 3 provinces on the other hand, you will develop way faster and snowball the campaign.
N'kari has one of the best defeat traits in the game, it's sad that he always gets wiped so soon... But 6% speed for the whole army, that's nice, gladly it's just a short trip from Bretonnia.
guys, there's a strat i've found out with her to easily confederate tyrion very early: 1- fight the initial khaine army (manually, avoid casualties). delete infantry building, get the noble building and get all economy buildings. get trade and military acess with tyrion, ask to join his war and balance the offer. 2- take tor saroir (manually, avoid casualties), recruit archers outside the settlement towards saphery 3- attack saphery's minor city, do it manually. use the high ground, focus their archers, use your heroes to buy time, try hiding dryads and use them against the enemy archers. take the city and keep recruiting archers. recruit a new lord to stay in gaen vale with a few archers in ambush stance, the garrison there is pretty strong 4- siege the major settlement, do it manually. use the blind spot near the tower, make two lines of archers in the safe spot, put them in guard mode. send alariele and the handmaiden to bait enemy into sending their archers up to walls so you can shoot them, use the heroes to dodge their shots while shooting them. repeat this until you're out of ammo, at this point just send dryads and spearmen in and finish them off. take the city and recruit more. use any influence you get to increase relations with eataine. talk to yvresse and do deals, offer to join his war 5- take their other minor city and keep recruiting, at this point you can already recruit your noble hero and delete the noble building 6- saphery should be dead now, so you're taking anything that's left out of cult of excess. tyrion probably has shrine of asuryan rn, if he does, go through his territory and take the minor settlement on the "left" side. pay attention to khaine, he should have about a full stack but he usually takes a while before trying to attack your capital, and you can usually auto resolve that with a lord a few archers. 6- now just work on getting tyrion into as many wars as possible, even before getting military alliance, he usually gets to a point where he will accept most invitations. caledor, vampirates, skaven, anything you want, just get him into it as soon as you can, and keep dumping your influence in relations with him, at threshholds +250 and +350 is when you should expect him to accept confederation offer. get any allied missions you can complete for extra alligiance, you might not even need it, but it's good to have it in case you do. the way you use it is just save until you have at least 80 so you can borrow a large army and get it killed, if you still haven't managed to confederate, you should be able to eventually by doing that. 7- now just either take alarielle towards the orcs (yvresse's enemies), or you can send her back to deal with khaine. you can do the same "blocking" from expanding strat with yvresse, because they take too long to kill orcs off. blocking the AI from expanding seems to increase chances of confederation largely. khaine is not a big worry, if you can start getting a 2nd army to take him off do it, try to get other elves into war with him too. it's not important to get tor anlec region, it's wasteland climate and it makes hellebron send a voyage agianst you, which you can prevent by just taking it and gifting to some other elf or just ordering them to take it
Alarielle is my one of my favorite legendary campaign if I want to play a long campaign victory. I always try to confederate all the other HE Legendary lords even Imrik.
She's kind of nerfed since her early days in WH2, though. She doesn't get any additional spell cost discount for anything, she doesn't get Dwellers, and she doesn't get Regrowth. She's basically a weaker spellcaster than your bog standard life mage but mitigates that somewhat with her items. Even so, she spends her campaign casting earth blood because that's really the only good spell she has. With the upcoming patch 3.0 this may or may not change. They are modifying some vortex spells and banishment may (or may not) be one of them, but up until now (patch 2.4) it really isn't worth the winds. Also worth remembering is that her getting combat stat buffs is a waste of time since she hits like a wet noodle anyway, and having a phys resist aura also means she has to be right up near the units she's protecting, where she's hardly an invulnerable target herself. Additionally, she doesn't have expanded reserve capacity but merely faster wind generation, which was nice in WH2 but isn't that important in WH3. She was pretty much a 10/10 lord when she was added, but at this point she's lost some of her shine. But Alarielle's campaign abilities are still amazing. With tier 3 SoA building one can pump out a legion of handmaidens and the combination of archers, sisters, and handmaidens will dominate anything for a big part of the game. And of course there's the growth effect of having that many handmaidens early on, which means much faster tier 5.
I feel like the mortal realms torment or w/e its called should be looking at corruption globally, if shes so intuned with the planet and harmed by the corruption that chaos brings as it gains a foothold its a bit silly that she only "cares" when she directly holds onto that land...but maybe it would be too punishing to early game/slow players since she would have to seek out and boop the chaos factions instead of closer foes? idk man
There's an irritating kinda bug with the Ulthuan control mechanics, if ever a settlement is in ruins unoccupied it count against you, so you have to use some 911 Lord to go there and resettle it, then sell it to whichever HE neighbour ally to get some diplo bonus and gold...
Her start can be such a pain in the ass sometimes. If you really goof up a battle early on not only will N’Kari declare war on you before your ready but Count Noctilus, Be’lakor, and Cloystra Direfin will declare on you as well. The anti-player bias really shines in this scenario too because they make a beeline for your ass.
Yeap, always heard people talk about this anti-player bias A.I. and after 100 hours I really see it, I really don't see it as bad playing evil factions but anything Order/ good just gets trashed. This campaign a good example too. I'm turn 33 into it and there is really no point in continuing. Left side of doughnut is gone to vampire coast, got the blood fleets from DE in the north, rogue armies, WoC . 5 factions total, its ridiculous on turn 33 when I just barley broke outta phoenix gate and secured the 2nd providence beyond it 3 factions war dec'd me in 2 to 3 turns.
Alarielle was quite fun though I found it a bit eh after getting ulthuan together and infrastructure sorted. Not sure why, I was having a blast for the first 50-70 turns
The way I prefer to play her is to take up to Evershale. Get a 2nd lord and keep recruiting with them. But send Alarielle down to Lothern and start stealing the provinces Tyrion will try to expand to. Keep pumping up units, and confederate him around turn 15. At which point you can conquer the rest of Ulthuan by 30/40 while confederating Eltharion too
No mention of the Blood Voyage? That was one of the reasons I was turned off of Alarielle's campaign. Having to babysit the shrine of khaine for whenever the blood voyage gets activated is kind of a nuisance. Not really *difficult* but it is annoying having to keep an army there.
Not a bad campaign, but they lack the overall punch that you feel in quotidian experiences within nature (dependent upon the ecological niche of the typical encounterer)
how would you ever have your areas chaos corrupted, but not taken away from you I dont understand. she provides so much anti corruption already and HE temple gives a lot, like I dont understand what possible situation your areas could ever become 75% chaos undivided corruption.
The e on the end of the word stave make the a sound capital. A. stave does not sound like staff. it sounds more like save. with a t. pedantic trigger dealt with. sorry.
Honestly not that big of a fan of her campaign mechanic, especially once you discover more and more enemies. Belakor to the NE, dark elves to the N and E, Count Noctilus to the S. In my experience Noctillus really wrecks the E side of Ulthuan and by the time you've dealt with him Belakor swoops in
This campaign pisses me off. The gate fight is hard and after that it just keeps getting progressively worse. Everyone is coming after you and you are forced to run back and forth. You are basically getting an end game crisis after you go outer ring from the gate.

N'kari has one of the best defeat traits in the game, it's sad that he always gets wiped so soon... But 6% speed for the whole army, that's nice, gladly it's just a short trip from Bretonnia.
Looking forward to that eventual Boris Campaign
Belakor attacks you very early too and sometimes even your unfriendly high elf neighbor. Especially if you are busy with the dark elves and N'Kari.
Where to post disaster battles?
First line in the description of every video.
Now her treeman remove magical weapon effects!
guys, there's a strat i've found out with her to easily confederate tyrion very early:
1- fight the initial khaine army (manually, avoid casualties). delete infantry building, get the noble building and get all economy buildings. get trade and military acess with tyrion, ask to join his war and balance the offer.
2- take tor saroir (manually, avoid casualties), recruit archers outside the settlement towards saphery
3- attack saphery's minor city, do it manually. use the high ground, focus their archers, use your heroes to buy time, try hiding dryads and use them against the enemy archers. take the city and keep recruiting archers. recruit a new lord to stay in gaen vale with a few archers in ambush stance, the garrison there is pretty strong
4- siege the major settlement, do it manually. use the blind spot near the tower, make two lines of archers in the safe spot, put them in guard mode. send alariele and the handmaiden to bait enemy into sending their archers up to walls so you can shoot them, use the heroes to dodge their shots while shooting them. repeat this until you're out of ammo, at this point just send dryads and spearmen in and finish them off. take the city and recruit more. use any influence you get to increase relations with eataine. talk to yvresse and do deals, offer to join his war
5- take their other minor city and keep recruiting, at this point you can already recruit your noble hero and delete the noble building
6- saphery should be dead now, so you're taking anything that's left out of cult of excess. tyrion probably has shrine of asuryan rn, if he does, go through his territory and take the minor settlement on the "left" side. pay attention to khaine, he should have about a full stack but he usually takes a while before trying to attack your capital, and you can usually auto resolve that with a lord a few archers.
And of course there's the growth effect of having that many handmaidens early on, which means much faster tier 5.
do u have a discord?? if not are u planning to make one?? cuz there are so many clips/fun facts/ cheeses etc i want to share but i dont know where :C
I personal did nat can win the battle (on campain very hard and battle normal settings) at the Phoenix gate any tipps pleace Legend of Cheese?
I feel like the mortal realms torment or w/e its called should be looking at corruption globally, if shes so intuned with the planet and harmed by the corruption that chaos brings as it gains a foothold its a bit silly that she only "cares" when she directly holds onto that land...but maybe it would be too punishing to early game/slow players since she would have to seek out and boop the chaos factions instead of closer foes? idk man
The forest spirits can only be recruited from Gaean Vale which which makes specialising in them not very appealing.
Same but as Tyrion
I hate when the ai picks blood and fire when you confederate her.
The way I prefer to play her is to take up to Evershale. Get a 2nd lord and keep recruiting with them. But send Alarielle down to Lothern and start stealing the provinces Tyrion will try to expand to. Keep pumping up units, and confederate him around turn 15. At which point you can conquer the rest of Ulthuan by 30/40 while confederating Eltharion too
Drycha Overview
My pointy eared waifu
getting treemen is such a bonus
Tree kin. Sisters + Tree kin in Allariels army is unstoppable.
Does she also get access to driads and the treeman hero character?
@@StarryGlobe089 dryads and treekin yes. hero no
Getting Alarielle, Teclis, Imrik and Eltharion to recruit all Heroes in all provinces 😮
Me: Where is legend of total war?
Them: 0:01
No mention of the Blood Voyage? That was one of the reasons I was turned off of Alarielle's campaign. Having to babysit the shrine of khaine for whenever the blood voyage gets activated is kind of a nuisance. Not really *difficult* but it is annoying having to keep an army there.
Agree on all
Not a bad campaign, but they lack the overall punch that you feel in quotidian experiences within nature (dependent upon the ecological niche of the typical encounterer)
how would you ever have your areas chaos corrupted, but not taken away from you I dont understand. she provides so much anti corruption already and HE temple gives a lot, like I dont understand what possible situation your areas could ever become 75% chaos undivided corruption.
Rakarth please.
does the benefits/bonuses she leaves at regions stack for a full province?
sound low? or just me?
Sounds fine to me
You often post videos on topics that Costin Gaming had posted a few days before. What a coincidence!
Does anyone know if Legend found any deal on the chaos dwarf DLC? I remember him mentioning something like that a week ago
Gamesplanet 20% off
He mentions it in his Lokhit fellheart review
Tiktaq’to
does anyone know where to revive Alith Anar?
i started an allarielle campaign yesterday and confederated tyrion at level 16 and he had bloodline of aenarion and i was very sad :(
It's a sign, give him the sword of khaine and turn the Geneva convention into a checklist 🤣
That's why respec mod exist.
People still care about this game? I have over 6000 hours in 2 and about 120 hours in 3 and no plans to play it again. I'd rather reinstall 2.
Turn 1 enemies are punching bags?! Pushovers?! ARE YOU INSULTING T.H.E IMPERIAL SUCESSIONISTS???!!!
The e on the end of the word stave make the a sound capital. A.
stave does not sound like staff.
it sounds more like save. with a t.

I really dislike that she has only 2 very little usefull damage spells.
Honestly not that big of a fan of her campaign mechanic, especially once you discover more and more enemies. Belakor to the NE, dark elves to the N and E, Count Noctilus to the S. In my experience Noctillus really wrecks the E side of Ulthuan and by the time you've dealt with him Belakor swoops in
Man, that high elf economy nerf was fascist.
This campaign pisses me off. The gate fight is hard and after that it just keeps getting progressively worse. Everyone is coming after you and you are forced to run back and forth.
You are basically getting an end game crisis after you go outer ring from the gate.
"Alarielle gets stronger as Chaos gets stronger"
