    Thanks for the explanation of how a cotton stripper header works. I’ve run pickers all my life but never seen a cotton stripper in person and wondered how a stripper works.
    So a burr extractor is like a mini cotton gin without the seed removal ability?
    Kind of surprised those strippers didn’t get the 9986/96 style basket. They’re far superior to the older dump style the strippers have.

      Yes. You are exactly right. The burr extractor pulls some of the burrs out. The turn out percentage is generally about 33% cotton.
      Thanks for watching!!

    That’s very interesting, from a farmer that knows nothing about cotton in north central Kansas!! We are harvesting corn beans and milo right now. I’ve never been around cotton equipment. I would like to someday . Those cabs are the same as a9500 looks like. Have a good harvest and sure enjoy the channel…..

      Yes they have the same cab as the stripper from 02 or 03 - 2014.
      Thanks for watching! Glad you are enjoying it

    Casey, thank you for your excellent video. Very interesting.
    How many acres of cotton do you have to strip-?

      Thanks for watching & asking. To answer your question without putting a number on it we will be stripping for a long time.

    Ahhh harvest time, that time of year when we get to play with all the harvest equipment 😂. My harvest season will only take a day this year 😂 because I got hailed out in July.
    Those newer Crustbusters sure are pretty. Where can a guy get one of those kinds of hitches where you can leave your quick hitch on the tractor ? I’ve seen them on a few other brands as well and wondered who sells them . Taking that quick hitch off every year gets old lol.

      We also had a huge hail storm on Saturday June 15th and than 3 days of nonstop wind, we lost lots of cotton! Sam Stevens here in Lamesa makes a couple different hitches just for module builders.

      @@PeteMenix Great , thank you ! I wondered if they might make them. Sorry about your crop, next year will be a better one right ? I said that last year after losing most of mine to early season rains and drought.

      @wildwestfarmer  Місяць тому +2

      Sorry to hear about yalls crops! Our crops had drought take a toll on it as well. You will get to see in future videos.
      Regarding the hitches, these builders came with them when we bought them. So I’m guessing you can order them through crust buster or your local John Deere builder. They are worth it.
      Might be cheaper for a machine shop to duplicate if you can find one to borrow.

    So why are the stripers only used in Texas ? Thanks for the video.

    • @wildwestfarmer
      @wildwestfarmer  Місяць тому +3

      Primarily in west Texas because west Texas is known for growing short droughty cotton & cotton pickers struggle to pick cotton less than 10 inches. There are cotton pickers used in our area but they are more common elsewhere
