Wild West Farmer
United States
Приєднався 27 жов 2023
My name is Casey. I’m a 5th generation farmer here in west Texas. I grow multiple crops but cotton is my family’s main cash crop.
I have a passion for farming that started when I was a little boy. I enjoy building/welding, fixing and improving equipment, and diving into new projects as often as I can.
My hope is to educate others on day to day life of west Texas cotton farming. My biggest supporter and fan is my wife Laney, who helps edit my videos.

Stripping maybe the best cotton field yet with drone footage. Thanks to our family friend Jeff & Loyd, who caught drone footage of all three 7460s stripping a test plot, fixing machinery, and finishing the field. Be sure to tune into this one to see how Fiber Max APTs are harvested. As always, thanks for watching! Instagram: wildwestfarmertx Edited: Laney Furgeson

Best Way To Haul Fertlizer In The Rain
The fields are white unto harvest, hallelujah!
POWERFUL CREATING AND MAGICAL PERFECTION 💪💪💪💪✴️🌠😅😊
Watching the video it looks like you are losing a bulb or two off the end every so many feet. Would it be worth it to build a mesh cover or deflector of some kind over the end strippers to try and prevent the bulbs escaping?
So what % of that cotton stays in USA?
I love cotton fields just before harvest before it's defoliated the white and green give God the glory for your blessings
Awesome cotton. I used to pick cotton here in Tennessee in the late 70s and 80s
Interesting point on the lightening strikes, never really thought about it before. Good weld repair, it should hold together. Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching.
Thanks for the visual of how the stripper works. Very interesting.
Congrats on 2 thousand subs there Casey!! I like the way you include the crew in your videos. Great looking cotton, hope prices are good as well!!!
Beautiful cotton hope you make four bales God bless be safe .
What’s your seed population?
Interesting to see the strippers vs pickers. At around the 14:50-15:00 mark in the video I noticed some cotton loss at the head. Can the head be adjusted to help with that?
You're kidding right?
I run a 7455 cotten stripper. I always turn off my header to dump
Do you do custom cotton cutting for other farmers ?
Awesome video enjoying it. Miss west texas and working up there Blessing to you and your family Great job
Wow beautiful crop. Sure fun to run in that good of cotton where ya just poke along. God bless. Great video!
Beautiful, it'll hold till it breaks, that's what we always say. 😂 i miss the "circus" with all the family in the field, we run 2-7760 roller pickers now so most of the time it's just us 2 operators in the field it's hard to find labor over this way.
Awesome looking cotton harvest
Would be cool to see it in real life.
Very nice cotton!! I turn row units off when dumping.
The Lord is great and greatly to be praised.
Beautiful cotton and bountiful blessings!! Praise God!!!❤
👍😎🚜🚜🚜🇺🇲🇺🇲🙏 Blessings from South Texas 🙏
How many acres of cotton do you harvest altogether?
Most guys don’t reveal that info. ,!!
How many acres of cotton do you harvest altogether?
Sorry you choked up but it gave me a better understanding of the burr extractor. I would assume the cotton gins up there have extra stick cleaners?
Thanks for the tutorial on the stripper heads. I knew there were brushes but now i see the batts too. Totally cool especially coming from the picker side.
Love the channel, I work in the oilfield out your way and have always wondered what goes on in the farm fields. I found you because Griggs Farms mentioned you on their channel, give him a shoutout.
Have you done a video explaining the pros and cons of the stripper over a picker? It seems like the stripper requires a much more involved operation with two extra pieces of equipment (buggy and module builder) and the tractors to run them; not to mention much greater fuel, maintenance, and labor costs.
They make a stripper baler & a picker baler. We run older machines that do require more machinery. I have not personally ever ran a picker. So far this year we have averaged .8 gallons of fuel per bale harvested with all the machinery we run.
Why do you do “sand fighting”?
How many acres or seasons can you get out of a set of bats and brushes?
A set of new bats & brushes cost around $500 per machine. Depending on crop size we try to swap them mid season & continue to run the same set a bit the next year after they have been broken in. Brand new bats seem to have a very soft rubber & it sure helps to let them sit in the off season after being used. Occasionally we change just the worn out ones as needed.
@ heck of a lot cheaper than replacing spindles even though spindles last quite a bit longer
That's a real good video. Maybe your best so far. Thank you from an old retired cotton farmer from Post.
Thank you!! Glad you enjoyed it!
Not sure how much rain yall got in Idalou but we got at least 2 inches west of Abernathy over the last few days and we still don't have our cotton out, it wasn't ready to pull before the rain hit.
I really liked this one very interesting.
Thank you!
Combine Havester maintenance is difficult. How long to study about it?
Thanks for your continued interest in the videos. This video features cotton strippers. Cotton strippers are extremely detailed machines. It takes years to truly understand the functionality of the machine. If you watch all our videos it will give you a deeper understanding of how a cotton stripper strip the cotton along with detailed upkeep of the machines.
That’s a real bollbuggy driver, back away before the stripper drives don’t sit and wait
We defiantly have some of the best there is.
Beautiful for such a harsh summer
Thank you!
This is some GOOD cotton!!
Thanks Fred the Trucker!
God bless y’all, love the video!
Thank you!
It's outstanding cotton stripping yup that brydstracter it's every now and then. Keep up the great work. Wish I was working 💪 Them tacos though with hot salsa 😮
Thank you! & them tacos were good!
Beautiful defoliation job, we had alot of trouble with regrowth because of the hurricanes, great video. Yall be eating good in the field too 😂
Thank you. We had beautiful weather up until last week & yes we eat way too good!
I was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. Living in KY for most of my life since, it's cool to have found a channel close to where I grew up and still doing cotton " the old fashion way" that I remember as a kid. I don't remember all the tractor models and such but mostly John Deere my uncle ran. Family operation like most back then. Good times and good memories. All those relatives have since passed on but my grandma. Her and I reminisce about those long cotton harvests. Thank you for taking the time to put videos together and show us around your farm. God bless you, your family and your crew.
Thanks so much! God bless you & your family too.
Really nice. I love your videos!
Thanks Becky! Glad you are enjoying them.
Why do some farmers use cotton pickers when strippers do a much better job? And much less mechanical parts on the front end.
Here in west Texas the gins are better equipped to gin stripper cotton. In other geographical areas, the gins are not equipped for strippers so they use pickers.
Damn what a picker
Actually it's a stripper.
I used to farm. I love seeing yo Pick The cotton. How I miss it?
It’s interesting to see how the varieties change so much across the US. I grow cotton in South Carolina and have never heard of Fibermax. I guess it’s a more western specific cotton. We plant the majority DeltaPine with a fair amount of Nexgen and Stoneville here. There’s a little bit of Phytogen and DynaGrow that gets planted in the area. This is all picker cotton here though
That's interesting to me as well. Thanks for watching & sharing some insight.
Great video good picture of the three coming down the field together have a great day God bless.
Thank you!
Yaaaaaaaa everyone who's ever stripped cotton knows the shake that machine makes about .5 seconds before it locks down the Burr machine lol
The slow grind you feel right before it stops 😂
You got that right! Thanks for watching.
That rumble 😮
Great video! Keep up the great work! God bless!
Thank you! Will do!
