I knew Polaroid was shady when they told everyone the current film sheets were thicker than the old and it wasn't possible to fit 10 photos in the film cartridge and couldn't change the size of the film cartridge. Which makes complete sense but then, turned around and manufactured a brand new camera (Polaroid Go) and stuck to giving people 8 shots per pack, instead up bumping it back up to 10 for this newly designed camera.

It's so that the new cameras can work with two film types, i-type, and 600. If they made the camera's film bay larger, then jit wouldn't work with both formats.

For just regular customers like me is either accept the fact that the majority of my shots will be a waste or just switch to Instax

I don't mean this to sound negative, but I hope you never get sponsored by Polaroid.
    Please.
There's this REALLY great Polaroid-themed channel here in UA-cam 👀 that uses to be my go-to channel for Polaroid videos (more than you, sorry) and I really enjoyed their content.
But then, they started getting sponsorships, and their content became more visually appealing, high-budget, editing is more professional, and their scripts BIASED.
Like, they keep sucking up to the company and NEVER talk about the flaws, and whenever they are asked about certain issues, their reply was, "It's you! you're the problem."
Their content also started sucking and not interesting anymore.
Last year, I unsubscribed to them.
Since then, I have you as my number 1.
I hope you never get sponsored by Polaroid because some of us really value your honesty and fairness, and I just know, like IAI, your thoughts will be filtered and biased.

When I found out about a Gen 2 Polaroid camera I was pretty excited only to find out its just some small changes and no internal changes I was bummed and I really like the brand Polaroid because of its history. Luckily I looked more deeper into your videos and found that the regular now is pretty good as I just bought one last month and I'm really happy with the vibe and size of the pictures. I have the Go as well and after learning how to properly use these polaroid cameras I'm really digging them it just sucks that the Now Plus isn't really anything special other then Bluetooth. but overall great video man you keep the Instant Photography community going!!!

it's kind of fascinating, because it almost seems like the "new" polaroid is following in the footsteps of the old polaroid. they're shifting some focus to non-camera items (which is fine if they're decent; I've heard that the more expensive speakers they make are pretty good, though the cheaper ones are, well, not) which polaroid did towards the end. as I'm sure you remember/are aware, they farmed out their trademark to anyone who had a pulse and as a result, subpar products flooded the market.
they're still leasing out their trademark to other companies, I'm sure, but I wish they'd focus on their cameras more. not just a better now+ (tbh I still use my onestep 2, never upgrading!) but I'm desperate for a new SLR. I like rangefinger photography as much as the next guy, but there's something extra rewarding about framing the shot absolutely perfectly by using a proper viewfinder set-up. but like you said, the instant photo community is small, and those who want an SLR is likely even smaller, probably due to lack of knowledge or high price point of entry (680/690 series) and/or special film being required (sx-70 series).
this comment became long-winded lol but I love polaroid!! I do shoot fuji too, but I much rather prefer the polaroid chemistry as fuji looks almost *too* sharp/crisp and ruins the aesthetic for me. even if fuji came out with a nearly identical camera body to polaroid or nearly identical film sizes more readily available (I can only find mini by me), I'd still rather use the polaroid. it's more than just the form factor, it's the look and I really don't want it to go away :(
sorry for the long comment lol

in my opinion, the app should be supplemental, not required to get a good shot. like the instax mini evo works just fine without the app, there aren't any issues that I've noticed with exposure, but the app is there if you want to mess around or use it as a printer instead. should be the same for polaroid :/

At this point, I think what would be great is if a third company jumped into this space. Pentax recently made waves saying they were developing three new film cameras over the next few years. Now, imagine if they decided to produce an instant camera that uses film that's roughly the same aspect ratio as a polaroid photo. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat.

unforutunatly that will never happen becasue polaroid is more than sue happy to make sure no one else makes film their size, more recently they tried to sue instax for their square film claiming they owned the copyright to the square white frame and they wanted to make sure consumers werent confused due to the similar shape. i struggle to find why people fan boy for polaroid so much when theres so many issues with just getting a pack of film to shoot right. you also gotta clean the camera every once in a while which ive never had to do with instax cameras. also the nice thing about instax is that youre not limited to just fuji branded cameras.

Ngl ever since Polaroid originals and Polaroid merged, their company kinda went downhill. The quality has gone down and the prices have went up. The film went up a dollar, probably as a result of their speakers not doing well lol.
They really should focus on making a new generation of film that allows the photographer to shoot on 10 sheets, while not sacrificing quality. If Fujifilm can do it, so can Polaroid atp. They also should re-engineer the peel apart film, since people keep asking for it. They discontinued the spectra format, and honestly they should work on the next generation of that.
Polaroid Originals was the best era for them because, they were just a group of people who were passionate for instant photography and revived a dead brand. Going from buying the last remaining film factory, to actually being able to get their film and cameras to shelves in most retail stores. I feel they’ve grown complacent now.

the reality of it like sweet lou stated is that they are no longer the scrappy underdog impossible project. the frustrating part of it all is that as a luxery company they should be better, their product should be better peroid. instead its a struggle to even get a picture if you dont have practice or knowledge of instant film photography. they have a lot of support which is owed to nostalgia, i know a lot of people that shoot on their old cameras and barely anyone that shoots on a newer one. then theres fuji's instax which not only works fine more often than polaroid but its also less expensive in the long run. i didnt realize until recently that polaroid go only comes in packs of 8 isntead of the 10 which just goes to show polaroid's starndard of film packs is no longer tryiong to get to 10. they let us pay for 8 this long that even when they make a new format and product for it theyre not gonna bother with getting back the 10 shots. ive had packs of round fram jam in my polaroid now twice now and the fix that ive found after destorying half a pack is ripping the battery out while keeping the pack inside. yes this ruins my remaining shots but it still lets me use it whcih is something ive never had to deal with while shooting instax.

I personally don't like how the Instax Square cameras look so generic, which is why I personally stick to Polaroid. That, and I like the look of the classic Polaroid cameras. What I'd think would be a neat idea however is if some other company can create their own third party Polaroid film. And they discontinued the best square format camera, the SQ6 which had some controlling for selfie timer, turn off the flash and some exposure features and replaced with SQ1, a point and shoot with no controls at all. Then last March 16 they released Mini 12, with not much improvement comparing with Mini 11 and for the costumers who like to have more control over the camera... nothing... nothing at all. And then Polaroid. Let's not forget the last release. They even made some hype and mystery about a release of a new product, and it was freaking speakers. Now this Now+ gen 2. I'll go one deeper in conspiracy and why it's the Gen 2. The big change was using recycled plastic in the new camera (as well as USB-C), but to reap any tax breaks, or eco-incentives, they have to have a separate SKU to mark against...hence...the Gen 2. The cost of redoing the internals (I HIGHLY doubt they built it to do over the wire firmware) is huge, even if it's reflashing the EV chip to expose a touch lower as they probably have a jillion boards and chips already done. And more to the point, I don't think Polaroid even thinks its an issue.

I used some Fuji Instax film that expired in 12/2012, and I used it in my 300 Polaroid camera, and the photos came out perfect, sooooooo boooooring!!!!!!!!!!

I got my Super color 670 AF from Amazon for about the same $150. - screw these “new” ones! I know it uses 600 film not Itype but so what 😊

Well unfortunately you did over pay for that camera. Never buy older cameras on Amazon. But as long as your happy with it

@@JustAnotherChris thanks for your reply! I forgot to mention that the camera was brand new in the box not used but whatever it’s fine. I was just offering my opinion on alternatives to these “new” Polaroid cameras for people who don’t want to invest big bucks in the SLR types.

I get ideal results when using the app but I wish I could do it all physically on the camera
