    I think Gothenburg combines the advantages of bigger cities and smaller towns. Anything you can find in a city like Stockholm, you can find in Gothenburg too. At the same time, it's not as crowded, a little more spread out and possibly more relaxed like a smaller town. But I am a lifelong resident so I might be a bit biased. Love the episode!

      I was born and raised in Gothenburg, still lives there. I think you hit the head on the nail. A city with around 600 000 inhabitants (1 000 000 in metropolitian Gothenburg) and you can still walk between every major sites of interest. That's pretty impressing.

      Louis, they did. I always to try to say a few phrases as a sign of respect. My Swedish was met with a warm smile and an “I speak English”

    Valiant attempt at the pronunciation of Göteborg there. ^_^

      @@JoshWomble dont listen to zorrow, that's not how you pronounce Göteborg. Its the Ö thats hard. Its pronounced like the 'I' in 'first'. The spacing of the word is correct that zorrow did, but the ending with 'ree' is F-ed up. We end with a hard G and some rolling Rs before that. RrrrG. gÖ-Te-bO-RG, the big ones are the ones we emphasize.

    I fell in love with the food that I saw..how much for a plate?

    • @Erikthetravelguy
      @Erikthetravelguy  2 роки тому

      That meal was a little spendy. I think per plate it was about 35 USD per entree.

    This was a superior visit clip for showing at least something about why Gothenburg exists. It is in the valley of the dead towns and was the final incarnation, and you could see the one remaining bastion of the absolutely massive fortress it was.
    But it fails to show subcultures of GBG. It is a city on the edge, and has always been. As such it really is a little London, or if you look at some of it, a klein Berlin.
    This has always been so, and if you look at firsts in Sweden, then it has most often been the first for many things; the first punsch, the first modern liberals, the first football, and so on.

    You tend to engage in painfully long conversations rather than telling about city attractions. I set the play speed at 2x to scroll through the 5 minute talk with the chef at a restaurant only to land at the next long and painful conversation. That was NOT about city attractions.
