A little about me and this channel:
My name is James Aubrey IV and I just recently graduated college from Iowa State University. After college I decided to take a leap of faith. So I moved to San Diego California to pursue my passion for videography/ UA-cam. Overall I'm a pretty chill person, outside of UA-cam I like to longboard, dance, play video games, lift weights and hangout with my friends. I know that success on UA-cam won't happen overnight but I'm willing to stay patient and put in the work to try to prefect my craft daily. This UA-cam channel will be centered around my life after college. You will be able to see all of the ups and downs on my journey to success. So if you like the content make sure you subscribe so you can be apart of the Rome Life Family. (Let's build our own personal Rome's together.)
What is the Rome Life ? And What does it mean to be apart of it?
Rome Life is something I started during my Sophomore year of high school (one of the worst times in my life) it started off as me documenting my journey to recovery from my shoulder surgery but eventually it turned into a platform that I could use to encourage myself as well as others to chase our dreams.
Rome Life isn't just a saying it's a way of life and for the people who want to be apart of it have to realize that. Rome wasn't built in a day it took a lot of handwork time and most importantly patience. So you can't expect your dreams to be any different

Heck yeah! It's The Beatles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"What is your favorite Beatles song?" "The one I am listening to at the moment"
Definitely! It changes from moment to moment
Yah
Dont bother me
Amen brother!
For me it is always a toss up between "Help" and "All My Lovin"......and "Can't Buy Me Love" makes it a three way tie on some days.
Id be willing to bet that you could chant “na na na nananana nananana” in almost any public place in the world and at least 1 person will reply “heeey juude”. Thats the impact The Beatles had.
That's so true!!
I think you’re right. After reading this I thought I should check the 24/7 webcam at the Abbey Road crosswalk. Within 10 seconds, two women stopped in the middle and took a selfie. The Beatles took a photo there 51 1/2 years ago. So yes, their impact is still being felt!
I have seen Trafalgar Square in England PACKED with people singing the na na nananana part. It's glorious!
McCartney's YEAH YEAH YEAH YEAH part at the beginning is outstanding as well. Magic!
You would win that bet!
You are right because it happened to me..,..
Ringo's drumming in "Hey Jude" is so subtle, deft and underappreciated. He begins quietly, then paints such a graceful percussive scaffold as the song builds to a climax.
"Graceful percussive scaffold" - poetry man, poetry. Beautiful words.

Never apologize for listening to more Beatles. Ever.
Ever! Never apologize for listening to The Beatles. Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da. Not allowed in the UK to be released as a single. Some band covered it, and the COVER was #1 for 16 weeks in the UK. Just a story about Love and Life
I have been listening over and over again to the ending of Hey Jude in my car lately. I can't get enough of Paul McCartney's improvisations and screaming that he does during that part. I just love it and never get tired of hearing it. And I have listened to the song since it first came out over 50 years ago.
Unless it's "Wild Honey Pie" or "Revolution 9".
@@jp3813 I even dig "Honey Pie"! #9 can go though!
@@tommathews3964 "Wild Honey Pie" & "Honey Pie" are two different songs.
Thank you. You're brilliant. I'm 62 years old. Your reaction captured the song.
This song saved my life. I got separated from the group while exploring wilderness. I tried to retrace my path but just ended up making myself more lost... The sun was going down and it would be freezing in northern Canada soon. I just started screaming Na Na Na Na Nah and wait a few seconds. Finally I heard a faint Hey Jude. After and hour or so through this call and response we finally found each other and made it back to civilization.
Damn man
Yeah. I was once chased by dinosaurs. Did the same thing. SALVATION.
Dam man an't that the 💩.
WOW!
Want a wonderful story to share, I wonder if John Lennon was there too! ✌❤
I've loved this song since it came out. It really is one the THE BEST SONGS ever! IMO. And all great songs have 2 things in common, great music and great lyrics. And if you have the Beatles performing it, well that's icing on the cake.
You know you are a real Beatles fan when you can’t say which song is your favorite
Try putting together you own Top 50 list - it remains difficult when you realize what you must still leave out.
Yes
@@Bassman2353 How about albums? Have there EVER been three consecutive albums released ... with the creative impact that defined Rubber Soul, Revolver and Sgt. Pepper? Each one surpassing the previous one in artistic brilliance. And that's saying something, given the wonder of Rubber Soul (my personal favorite).
Agreed.
Because there isn’t just one. It’s impossible.
Back in the day, songs were meant to be only about three minutes long. The Beatles defied expectation by making a seven minute song and getting it played on the radio. And it became one of the biggest hits ever. Only the Beatles could get away with writing a three minute song and then sticking four minutes of "na-na-na-naa" on the end. An absolute classic.
2.5 minutes.
Every Beatles tune I listen to is my favorite until the next one
Correct! And my favorite has changed countless times over the past fifty-five plus years.
Absolutely! Brilliant comment!
Exactly! Lol
Lot of truth in your statement.
Why you gotta call me out like that. LOL. I swear, every time I hear a song, I say, this is my favorite. Then I hear another one...
“For Well you know that it’s a fool who plays it cool by making his world a little colder”. That’s a contender for the greatest lyrics in pop music history!
Saw McCartney live in 2015, nothing compares to hearing 40 thousand people sing along to every word of this song.
I saw Paul twice (2005 & 2010) I'm standing there saying - Here I am singing Hey Jude with the writer of this song.
Yep! 1990 first tour he played Beatle tunes
Yep. And you were one of them.
Never forget that.😎😎😎
Yes! Saw him in the 90's on the Flowers in the Dirt tour at RFK stadium in DC ... 80K people singing this together. It's always going to be one of the best memories of my life.
Saw him 3 times and it never gets old...
Of all the wonderful praise that song has gotten since it was released in 1968, your comments "they got soul" or "they took us to church" are the greatest I have ever heard. Bravo!
This song achieves the rare trifecta of being joyous, emotional as hell, and totally hypnotic. It’s like musical dopamine.
That is well said; I've always thought the second part of this song got Tribal, the beat, a bit primordial, along with the repeated 'na-na' chorus along with all the 'hey-heys' yelling in the background from McCartney...it is like a rhythmic chant and he is in a shaman-like trance.
Great description.
Great equipment no one else had access to courtesy of Tavistock , aka culture manipulators , only joking 🙃
@@melanieladbrooke1221Hmm yes the Tavistock institute, very interesting stuff

5:35 Love that reaction to the orchestra coming in. I've heard this song 1001 times, and it gets me EVERY SINGLE TIME
It is truly a study in crescendo. It starts off stark, bereft of percussion and backing vocals.
Who would have thought, three chords and a few na na na’s, could have so much impact.
The magic of George Martin. Fifth Beatle.
What is the instrument that joins at this moment. A horn? Organ?
EXACTLY
Every time you listen to another Beatles song for the first time, an angel gets their wings....or something like that....
Great reaction. The Beatles are the real deal. They changed pop music forever.
I'm not proficient enough to explain the impact that "The Beatles" have had on millions of us but let me try. For as long as I have been alive "The Beatles" and their music have been a beautiful constant in my life. From watching their cartoons as a child to loving their music as I grew up. To following their individual careers, "The Beatles" in one form or another have been there. I am not alone in feeling a special bond with "The lads" from Liverpool. They're like a warm blanket that always make us feel good when I hear any of their music. I was fortunate enough to watch Sir Paul McCartney in concert and I was in tears as I finally had the chance to watch a Beatle live, perform his greatest songs. Long live the remaining Beatles Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. May John Lennon and George Harrison RIP. Thank you.
Here here!
Well said!! I feel exactly the same way.
Me three !!
👏👏👏👏👏
They have largely been the soundtrack to my life, and millions of other people's lives.
All these years later, the Beatles still have the most number one hits on the chart, with 20 songs having reached that position.
Hey Jude stayed at number one longer than any other Beatles' song. A Paul McCartney masterpiece written about John Lennon's son Julian Lennon. It was/is a lot of people's favorite Beatles' song. It was their biggest hit. Personally, I love so many of the Beatles' songs it's hard to pick just one. And I have had the pleasure of seeing Paul McCartney perform this song live 5 times. It always gets the crowd going and everyone up singing and swaying to the music.
I hope you react to YOU NEVER GIVE ME YOUR MONEY and GOLDEN SLUMBERS sometime soon. Two other great McCartney songs the Beatles did off of Abbey Road.
I only saw Paul once but it was the very best show EVER! This was the last encore he did. It was televised in Charlotte in 93, but he played 2 more hours after the cameras stopped rolling.
I saw Paul McCartney in 1990 at Texas Stadium in Dallas. I was in the "nose bleed" section, but had binoculars! When he played this song, I cried.
If you’re gonna do golden slumbers you gotta do slumbers into carry that weight into the end
I only got to see Paul McCartney live once. It was "Wings Over America" in June 1976 at Seattle's old "Kingdome". It was the first major concert that building ever hosted having only opened less than three months prior. It was the best show I saw in that building, Led Zeppelin in July '77 was a close second but McCartney and Wings still outranks them.
Wings was not, however, the first event I went to at the Kingdome. My mother dragged me (kicking and screaming all the way) to the Billy Graham meetings (all freakin' FIVE of them).
or the entire medley
Glad to see this generation is continuing to pay attention
goes from a simple song to an anthem
A global anthem!!)))
Probably the greatest singalong of all time!
This was the first single to break the 3:30 time limit that radio stations had at the time. The song went straight to Number One AND every radio station played every minute of it! A truly historic groundbreaking recording.
I know this comment is old. But that was pretty wholesome
👍👍👍👍👍👍🤝🤝🤝🤝🙏🙏
Like A Rolling Stone came out before and did that.
The original title was Hey Jules. Paul wrote it for John's son Julian. God bless you brother for sharing the love!
Never knew of this!
I knew it was written for Julian in an attempt to console him in the wake of his parents' divorce, but I just assumed that "Jude" was another valid shortening of "Julian".
According to Paul McCartney, at least. According to an interview with John Lennon, the song was McCartney giving him (John Lennon) the "okay" to leave the band and seek out Yoko Ono--hence the "Go Out and Get Her". Amazing how everyone perceives things differently, huh?
Seasick that is so interesting, never pieced that together after 40 yes of listening. Thank u for that nugget
No, it was written about jewish halocaust survivors
Beatles manager was asked how long it would last. And he replied: “The children of the 21st century will be listening to The Beatles. He was right” - Larry Kane. And I have no doubt the children of the 22nd century will be listening too
I "discovered" the Beatles in my parents' music collection when I was in high school. I stole it all. Hey Jude is one of my favorite songs of all time.
It is never too late nor is anyone too old to "discover" The Beatles.

When my kids were little, we had a massive, I mean a massive music collection of vinyl and cd's. I made sure my kids knew the classics. Now, 30 years later, my oldest brings his ghetto blaster and a pile of cassettes to listen to at work.. He's amassed quite the record collection now as well. My youngest is totally into the classics moreso than what is being produced today.
Sounds like you might jave a bunch of original or at least repress copies of some classic albums. I'm jealous, not gonna lie!
I plagerising a comment I read a comment that someone else said about the beatles "the beatles don't drain you when you listen to them, they fill you up", just beautiful
James, I will never tire of seeing the sheer joy you get from experience a musical piece for the first time... I truly feel we are kindred spirits because you have so much love for music.
That’s how I feel, too! ✌️ 🤘
I love this man. He’s got a great soul.
Hey Jude...most likely their #1 song in all of their thousands of songs! I love your Dancing!!!♥️
When this came out, it was a rare single that went longer than 3 1/2 minutes. The Beatles broke that rule.
That's why the Beatles are #1 band of all time and every1 else is second !! Enjoy Brother!!
React to "While My Guitar Gently Weeps", it's a masterpice by George Harrison, vocalist of the song and lead guitarist of the band, but in this song the lead guitarist is Eric Clapton.
But must be the studio version on the White Album. Not the Concert for George, or the Prince version. Those are good, but the heart and soul of this song is the original.
@@glass2467 The acoustic version they did for the show LOVE is very good. Different vocal track than the original, but recorded during the same sessions, as were the guitar parts, an extra verse that was left out of the original, and George Martin arranged and conducted the strings. At least as powerful as the original IMO.
ua-cam.com/video/VJDJs9dumZI/v-deo.html
@@dravenblackthorn4765 I love that version too - very emotionally powerful. But I still think that when listening to this song for the first time, it should be the White Album studio version. Then when you hear the acoustic version it will be more impactful.
@@glass2467 I'll agree with you on that. I can totally see your point.
Actually, it's worth listening to the 50th Anniversary remix that came out a couple of years ago - Clapton's guitar work shines through. And then listen to the version on the soundtrack of "The Beatles - Love" Cirque du Soleil show that George Martin completely reimagined from a demo tape of the song with a new symphonic orchestration, arranged by Sir George. The poignancy of the song is just stunning.
Greatest 'singalong' song ever wrote!!😉👍👍👍💖💞❤🎸
Hey Jude was my mom”s favorite song she was still bopping with it at 92!

And what sealed up this song as a great hit, was the orchestra joining in near the end.
I love Paul’s voice..enjoyed 🍏✌🏼
This song is perfect. The Beatles songs always remind of this quote, "Words make you think thoughts, music makes you feel a feeling, but a song makes you feel a thought.”
Blackbird is my favourite Beatles song but it’s rare to hear it on the radio.
Blackbird, interestingly, has become something of a jazz standard... popular cover for jazz players.
Mine too...did you see the kid that did it on The Voice?!...Brilliant!!
I got to see Paul perform it in a giant arena in 2010 and it was absolutely mesmerizing. Just Paul and his guitar sitting on a stool singing “Blackbird” and the entire arena of 40 thousand just listening. Giving me chills just thinking about it again.
I have the White Album in my CD player now. On the way to work the other day "Blackbird" came on and it just swept me away, like it always does, and I had to repeat 3 more times!

It might sound weird, but watching your reaction to the song left me smiling. It's such a good song. The harmony with the horns at the end - just with how steady the horns are with the root of the I-VII-IV-I chord progression - it's like a canvas, and they kind of paint all over it with the vocal harmonies. It may be the GOAT when it comes to pop / rock.
The emotional power of the horns with the "na na na na's" is incredible and beautiful ❤️

Written by Paul for John's son Julian.
I still contest much of “ Hey Jude” is also written about John. Many of the lyrics don’t make any sense if directed at a small boy.
Example: “ you have found her, now go and get her”. That sounds like Paul telling John finally “ I accept you’re in love with Yoko, go get her”
@Penderyn Lewsyn nope, that was for Sean.
It’s funny, Paul started singing it to Julian in Paul’s car, but it ended up being Paul’s song to himself... I think he was just starting his relationship with Linda. So he played the song for John and John said, “It’s about me.” And Paul said, “No, it’s about ME!”
@Penderyn Lewsyn He wrote “Beautiful Boy” for his son, Sean.

FYI - Hey Jude, and you can look this up, from the very first time it came out, was ,the ##1 song the week it came out, it was number #1 for month, the year, the century and yes, the entire 20th century, the milleniam. Peace Out...
I am fortunate enough to have seen Paul McCartney perform this live. Best show ever.
The Beatles changed the world, the influence nearly every musician alive, they influenced culture. Without them the world as a whole would not be the same.
Love the smile on your face as this song builds and builds. Nice job, James
When my niece, Eve, was 2 this was her favorite song by "The People" (as she called them then). She's nearly 7 now (7!) and "Don't Let Me Down" is her jammy jam, but she still goes wild when we blast this song. I have a really specific memory from when she was about 2 1/2 and my sister and I were taking her to the grocery store... "just us girls," as Evie would say, and this song came on. I glanced behind me and could see her in her car seat in the little mirror on the seat back. She was singing along - every word - eyes shut, little fists balled. She felt it. Omg. I crying now. I miss those kids. I'll see them for the first time in 17 months in just about 2 weeks. Anyway, The Beatles are special. They bond people. My niece felt the magic that enchanted my sister and I when we were kids. Our dad shared that with us. It's been this wonderful, carved out space in our dad/daughter world for all these years. Now my sister's little girl is jamming out with us. Share music with your child!
Your emotional reaction is priceless bro!!
This was my first Beatles song I first heard when I was like 12 years old then I was hooked.Awesome!!
I'm 68 now, but I can remember in 1971 a bunch of us were at our local DQ just hanging and this came on the Jukebox. We all kinda listened and by the time the instrumentals came in, we were all up and dancing and singing both blacks and whites. It was an awesome experience. Haven't seen true happiness like that in this day and age. Music is now a divider instead of a vehicle to bring us closer. So sad.
This was the first 45 record I ever bought 🙌🏾
Ditto!! “Revolution” was the flip side if I recall.
talent always prevails in musical performance........then for the Beatles, now for all the "World Music" artists
One of the Greatest songs ever made.
If you get a chance, listen to the song that was on the flip side (B-side) of this record. 'Revolution'
Revolution 1 is now an demo/extra song on the White Album remastered from 2018, so I assume it's from those sessions. I'm not seeing it on "1" tracklist. Was it part of the double LP vinyl?
@@andykndr Revolution 1 and Revolution are different. Revolution 1 is on the white album. Revolution was the b side to Hey Jude and is much faster and heavier. It never hit number 1 in the US or UK on its own, so it wouldn't be on 1.
@@andykndr Revolution 1 is on 'The White Album' and is a slower version of the single version. The single version is on the 'The Beatles 1967-1970' (widely known as "The Blue Album")
@@redgreen82 Correct...!
McCartney's vocal performance in this song is the greatest in the history of rock!
The Beatles just keep bringing it!! So many more songs you will discover! Thank you, James! Love the channel
What I love about this song is that the second half sequence of this song is just a straight up jam, and a bloody good one.
