This bus looks very much like the "AEC" double decker busses we used to ride in the late 40s all the way until late 70s in Baghdad Iraq. We also had the one deck. They were marvelous and incredibly well engineered and made. Boy did we love them busses.😍😍
I notice that the RML that you are interested in has an AF depot mark which is Putney, this means that in all probability I have driven this one in service.

That’s good news about your friend and his bus It is a good thing that the bus has a newer Cummins engine and that is especially good for reliability The arches may have come up better if you had put some of that lovely red primer on first as that would have filled the holes better They look good and only. A bus purist will notice and make comment Most people will just look and the bus and think how nice it is and the details will completely escape them Good work Pete 👍👍👍

Another entertaining video. Interesting that British cars from the '60s and '70s have badges saying they have a "3.4 litre" motor. Australian cars of a similar vintage often only had engine size badges on the V8s, such as the Valiant Chargers, Ford Falcons and Holden Monaros. There were a few exceptions but not many.

Another great Vid Pete. Though to have some preverbally thrown at me, most of the purest want to keep the Routemasters as buses and not as Bars, Tea shops and stand on the road cafes (I’ve even know one as a mobile fish & chip shop). These buses are black holes (as you know) and unless you have a couple of million pounds, to keep them on the road cost money and to put them showroom condition. I commend you and all the others that buy Routemasters to use them as a business and to keep them going (Until the B frame fails). Keep it up bud, your doing all us ‘wanna be’s’ Routemasters owners proud

The Jaguar was pretty cool. If you can't find a Fiat Multipla, a 2CV would be rather fun. Compo seems to be curiously well-behaved lately. Have you given him a dose of premium oil? Maybe he's planning something obnoxious to celebrate the arrival of the next bus.

when you check the oil you should really lower it off the blocks when checking the oil, it’s the same with HGVs you need to make sure that they are level to get a more accurate reading
I do hope you rechecked the oil level once the bus was level again. I love when an engine's oil filter is vertical or near vertical, far less messy to remove and can be prefilled so no lag with the oil preasure on start up. Are you going to paint the wheels and hubs in the original dark red, they look weird in black and get some front wheel nut covers?
Apologies but I'm the reason there was a problem with the key to that yard. Funny that it popped up on UA-cam. I work for the company thay shares that yard with the buses and my car is the beige one stored In there.

Hubodometer specialist here. When are you going to colour match the three nuts? 😉 Can totally understand leaving the Cummins lump there, now that it's fitted anyway. Plenty of parts backup. Love the AEC but reality says more worries keeping it going in regular use these days. At least the melodic gearbox remains. Can't wait to watch collection day.

Always pull tape off when things are wet, reduces the risk of the tape pulling dry paint off, wet paint won't come off

Maybe there is some kind of hand-pump / hose arrangement for topping up the oil from the oil container to the filler cap.
There are plenty of solutions but it’s good fitness….. 😂😜👍

I think some stainless or chrome wheel nut bands will finish the wheels of nicely, but can understand why Pete paints them black.
