  • Here's something a bit different to the usual. Some cobbled together interviews with Brian Clough talking about his time at Middlesbrough.
Contributors include former team mates Alan Peacock and Billy Day, Brian Moore speaking to Cloughie on Valley Road and at Ayresome Park circa 1989-90 and some hapless interviewer at Boros ground some five years later. I think he just stopped short of asking BHC what his favourite colour was!

He was a complex character, with a simple way of looking at things. A one off. RIP Brian.

A Boro boy, through and through. I still remember Reas ice cream at the top of Ayresome street, facing Albert Park. Anyone else?

Lived on Ayresome street in the early 80s and would pass it every day on my way to the Poly, Speak Easy and the infamous Boro Fish Bar!!! Being up in the Boro, in Cloughies neighbourhood was like a pilgrimage to Mecca ...DCFC! "C'mon you Rams!"

Do we know for sure Brian Clough actually grew up as a Boro fan? Did he ever go to watch them as a kid? I read his autobiography some years back and I don't think he ever said that. But it's hard to imagine he would have supported anyone else and maybe the poverty he grew up in meant he couldn't afford to go to matches?

Clough always had a chip on his shoulders. It rankled him. Despite his clubs trophies he was a bully to players. Justin Fashanu should of been on his conscience but I doubt it. He wrecked this poor lad buying him on a whim & a great goal. Francis was worth a million & a track record. Young lad Fashanu was just beginning & Clough just cast him aside to Notts County for a fraction but the lad had been crushed by him.

Total BS Think Stuart Pearce ,Roy Keane ,John Robertson ,Martin Oniel would say victims off a bully .Medals galore hey is happily be bullied if meant cabinet full medals Inc 2 BACK TO BACK EUROPEAN CUP MEDALS . I suppose Shankly ,Stein ,Busby were all bullies also, because in Clough he has part off them all As for Fashinu he was decent but by no means superior player Mark Crossley knows Clough & can't speak, highly enough nor can Keane & players from what I've read ,watched loved Brian Clough . Today's lot bully the managers Give me old school whack on chin managers any day .

If you ever read Walking On Water , he admitted he got it wrong with Fashanu and how he deeply regretted it.
