I’m with you, Susan, a multi-functional measurer. There’s room for both and it’s arguably better cooking/baking.
I hope you are having a lovely holiday :)

Christmas Day greetings to you and yours, young Susan!
Yes, the scales are great for odd-shaped stuff, and the reset button means that when you're cake making you can measure successive ingredients as you add them to your bowl, instead of having to weigh each one separately.
On an unrelated note, today's dinner is a slow cooker goat shank - sourced from my local Halal butcher.
I seared the oiled and seasoned shank in the air fryer first, (10 minutes on maximum gets it nicely brown all over, with no need to turn it.) and gave it a bed of carrot batons, enchallion shallots and some small pieces of black pudding to sit on. (The black pudding breaks down completely in the cooking and makes the gravy rich and spicy.) Some tomato purée, a chicken stock pot and a couple of spoonfuls of chunky mustard pickle complete the list.
Rosemary and oregano, a shake of celery salt, and some coarse ground black pepper. The final touch is half a dozen pickled shallots [Garners, of course!] packed around the sides. The vinegar dissipates in the long cooking and helps to tenderise the meat, but the shallots stay whole and look interesting on your plate.
Add a generous glug of cream sherry, top it up with water, and give it four hours on High, then about six more on Low.
I'll fine season it about an hour before it's done, and maybe add some redcurrant jelly to counteract any residual vinigariness because I have quite a sweet palate.
This comment has come out so lengthy that I'm thinking of self-publishing it on Amazon, but at least I haven't missed anything out. Merry Christmas! 😊

Merry Christmas Nigel - I think at the very least you should be publishing your amazing recipes on a blog . Sounds totally fantastic!

Im enjoying your instant pot videos...thank you!
Can I ask where you get your steel cut oats from? None of the supermarkets in London stock it.

      Thanks!
Ah they might be called ‘pinhead oats’. I get mine from Infinity Food which a lot of health food stores stock . Infinity ones are called : Organic Coarse Oatmeal Pinhead (Infinity Foods). Most health food shops and Whole foods should stock them or order in easily and Shipton Mill do them online - you’re right, Hard to get in supermarkets. Hope that helps
