- The T-44 in War Thunder is peak WW2 tank design whether you like it or not! This truly is the tank of all time.
The T-44 is one of the best brawlers in the entire game. With a mere 135mm of penetration compared to the rest of the vehicles in the battlefield with over 200mm at this battle rating, this tank can pull of the most ridiculous kill streaks.
The 85mm cannon is first seen at battle rating 3.3 meaning that this vehicle is using a similar cannon against vehicles such as the Maus, Leopard 1 and even the terrifying M103! But no matter, it has some of the most TROLLY armour of any tank in the game.

I know you just played the kv-1c but the kv-1e is also very OP and rare. It has THICKER turret armor and is only 4.0. Took it out for the first time in months and got 8 kills first game in an uptier.

I remember a while ago, when I was a new player, I was in a Sherman 76 and there was a disabled Russian tank sitting there with no barrel and the horizontal turret ring out, unmoving, 50m from me. Front covered in bushes. No one else around. Angled like 15 or so degrees to one side. I didn't know where to shoot it, it looked kind of like a KV-85 or an IS-1 so I tried hitting it in the neck, different guesses on the turret, lower plate, probably 6 agonizing shots in a row. Then the turret came online and it aimed at me and one shot me.
T-44 against WW2 ammunition is a monster. I don't know if it deserves 6.7 in the current game state, but it was very scary at 6.3. I still remember that moment out of thousands of games and thousands of deaths so clearly. It felt like shooting a Maus.
You can turret ring it I think with the 76, and turret cheeks, the turret is only about 120 mm thick. But yeah, the Sherman 76 kinda struggles vs everything. It’s not very good for a 5.7

WHAT THE FUCK are you smoking? its a fucking 4.0 gun at 5.7, the only 5.7 tank gun that can compare is the russian 85mm on the t34-85, but the sherman is twice the size of the t-34-85, and they both cant compare to the comet 1 and panther a, both of which are also 5.7 medium tanks with the comet having way better mobility and both of them having more firepower

@@nmspy my man, i like the sherman 76, but it is not a good tank. the only thing it has going for it is a stabiliser. everything outguns it, its slow, and has no armour. america 5.7 is fun, but not super competitive compared to the others

I enjoyed the little chat about bushes.. personally that is partly why I don't use them, the other part being I am playing this game because the vehicles look cool and I want to be able to see them lol.
I think a good change to bushes would be that your own bushes show up in your gunner view, at least limit people from getting too carried away by there being any kind of downside to using them.
That or just removing them and refunding peoples GE.
The bushes cover optics in simulator battles im pretty sure
In simulator mode and afaik in the "original gunner view" they do show up, they just don't show up on normal gunner view because the camera is at the tip of the cannon and sadly floating bushes are a bit borked too
or make cosmetic items only appear to allies, since most of them are meme items anyway. (As much as I love my orange beacons on every tank i own)

Bushes in realistic mode do cover commander sights not sure off top of my head if they do anything else . The issue with this tho is IRL you can put the bush around the optics so you have a gap in game it's a flat and tbh stupid awkward thing to place. I guess think of the premium leopards mesh camp imagine the. Bushes are that kinda stuff so you could mold them around the optics as not to block them.
I love watching bawz' content because he makes the game look easy and enjoyable.

I agree with you but I have to say I’ve gotten monstrously better by watching him play. He mentioned it in one of the videos over the last couple days, too, something to the effect of “if you watch my videos, just go where I go.” I still suck but every now and then I have a moment, haha. Got a triple kill with a bomb yesterday, felt kinda like he did in the intro.

I look at some of his tactics, using cover and terrain, then try to adapt it to my playing style, it's fun.
Also gotta bear in mind, he plays a lot of games and shows us the best and most interesting of them.
@@campbellwalker6378 oh I know, I don’t compare my skill to his. But I absolutely do pay attention to where he goes and the spots he likes to look for enemies. Has made a huge difference in my results.

Really loved it at 6.3, still a beast at 6.7 .Man i love this tank. Pretty sure this is my most played one, maybe a t34-85 as a close second.

My most played tank, and my favorite is the chinese M4A4 Sherman, but I love all M4A4's
It has no weak spots in its play style, good mobility, good armor, me gun. Like all other soviet tanks so it’s pretty fun to use.
you should check out the t26e5 at 6.7. It still absolutely destroys the ww2 vehicles and unless its a 7.7 uptier it still does surprisingly well. I got a 15 kill nuke in it in a 7.3 uptier.
Personally, when I play 6.7 France, I prefer 7.3 uptiers. Leopards are nice squishy targets :)

Thanks again Odd, great times watching these matches. I thought it was funny at about 23:30 'ish where the AP rounds/spalling take a quick 90 degree right turn to make sure the max damage was done to the German Bulldog. Glad to see that the Russian AP has some magic powers still XD
The T-44 is the culmination of all the lessons learned in the Second World War, and it is personally one of the BEST tanks I have ever used. I adore it. But I have a tip: ALWAYS use BR-367. It is the best ammunition. I don't know why so many people don't use it.
More than that, I take exactly enough rounds for my ready rack and nothing else
@@theranger7924 precisely! It is always a good idea to use the X-Ray view in combination with the WT Wiki to determine the ammunition rack order so you can take only the minimum load.

I'd love to see you play the B7A2 in ground battles. With the 4x60kg and 2x250kg loadout and it's bomb sight you can get 4 kills on pretty much any tank as long as you are patient. And the you still have 2 20mm cannons. I fell like it's kind of underrated.

ZiS-30 with full bush coverage is a nightmare. Nobody knows what you are on first contact and you absolutely decimate them
I nailed a shot like that once, full speed, full gun bobbing, but the stars aligned.

had a game few days ago in 6.7-7.7 and it was just me and my squad mate with 299 SP left and 1 of the 3 bases capped on the same map and we carried it so hard while they had 1700sp left we just milked them. probably one of my best games ending with 12 kills on my side and 9 on my mates.
Imo the best medium in game when played correctly, got decent mobility, can bounce and if u know how to get at to the side/behind ur enemies there shall be a bloodbath :D
100% with you on the bushes. I'm kinda getting used to them now, but as a newish player who was trying to grind through 4.7 US where your whole lineup is Shermans and you have to be scared of almost everything, getting sniped from across the map by a fucking tree you looked right at was particularly heartbreaking after you spent 5 minutes lumbering out of spawn. Literally nothing you can do except die and start over.

This thing used to be pretty obscene at 6.3. Even at 6.7 it still is faster than it looks and bounces way more shells than you'd think. Just a shame that there's no proper 6.7 lineup for the soviets so it mostly gets left as a backup for higher BR lineups.
it was not obscene. I used it and fought against it. If your enemy is a typical german main than its a problematic opponent yes, but if you have 2 braincells its an easy mantlet shot with weaker guns.
@@jacky9590 except it doesn't just die in the mantlet. Anything short of a panther cannon will pretty much never kill this.
what how is there no 6.7 soviet lineup? it's like super good...even better now with the new obj 248 from the battlepass... there is the obj 268 is also incredibly strong and can oneshot anything and bounce every aphe and is also kinda multirole with the massive turret 14.5mm hmg with 90° elevation. the 6.3 like 2S3M and SU-122-54 do also well with the usual like IS-2's...there is nothing i'd whish for more now that there is a 6.7 heavy tank
t44 was kinda ass honestly the gun laying was terrible its armor wasnt great and the pen was meh
the t34-85 did everything the t44 did AND was like 3k repair cheaper trolly armor still died to the same crap but didnt have a 7 second long bounce up and down and up and down when you hit the brakes so you could just shoot people.
@@Supermann124 you can't use premiums to justify a line-up, as they are not accessable to everyone. Also you can't use tanks that are a lower BR, as the fact remains, they are not at that BR

What you said about bushes on tanks around 2:25 is so true, I think bushes on tanks is the worst feature in this game
Why aren't you using the APCBC round? It has about 160mm of pen at point blank, 30 more than the APHEBC and about the same angled performance.
aphebc can penetrate jumbo sherman frontally but 164mm apcbc cant

Great games. The way you manage to stay alive in those up-tiers vs tanks you can't damage is impressive.
When you look at the team list screen at the start of a match you often say it's an up-tier or down. Could you please explain how you arrive at that conclusion?
I think he know the BRs of most the tanks, so he concludes based on the highest BR vehicle he sees on the list

Bushes should be flung off if a shot hits or if it fires if the bushes are on certain parts of the tank. Would actually balance that crap out. I have the same thoughts about tracks for armor. Anything just strapped to the tank should be possible to remove through any kind of shot

I love the t44 the only problem is that if you have to aim on the move or have to brake and fire the cannon takes too long to be in position where I want to shoot

No one ever mentions 164g of TNT in that round. This is literally game changer
#OddBawZ at 13:50. When you call artillery, you get less accurate the further you call it at. So if half of the reticle is in the spawn and the other half is outside of it, you can artillery spawn. But it's pure RNG for it to hit.
back when this was 6.3, this tank got me a nuke EVERY SINGLE MATCH. it was AMAZING and it still is, even at this br, is still a BEAST

T-44 games tend to be tough, you have to "earn" each kill. Idk why it went up to 6.7

T-44 is an excellent vehicle. And patiently waiting for gaijin to give us the T-44MS with the improved engine and HEAT-FS. Then it would be perfect.
In all the years I've played War Thunder 1/3 of the T-34 and everything after the T-44 feels like it's made of paper. Basically everything penetrates it, even from the front, even more in the turret.

T-44-100 is one of my favourite tanks
It's extremely annoying how many times in so many tech trees there's only a single 6.7 for example and I would LOVE to use it on my 6.3 line up, rather than using A5.0 I just DONT WANNA PLAY 7.7 AS 6.3

Is the extra penetration of the BR-367 not worth the explosive filler you lose by not using the 365A? Still seems to oneshot just fine. The high angle pen is only slightly worse, too.
from my experience, mind you this is a couple of years ago now, the extra penetration against flat plate is better then the explosive filler you lose per shot. Not too mention that this thing is most definitely best played as a flank and spanker. Not necessarily a head on fighter. For tiger 2s, the apcr is pretty bad, but it does give you an edge against them that they normally wouldnt expect.
Explosive filler doesn't matter much. Caliber is responsible for most damage. IMO, flat pen of 367 APCBC is clearly more worth it than better angled pen of 365A APHEBC(flat nosed).
365A has hidden lolpen angle values in the shell from before the volumetric patch. You can frontally kill a Jumbo with that shell within 100 meters. That's how dumb that shell is lmao.
@@ideadlift20kg83 Testing this in protection analysis, 365A does indeed appear to go through the Jumbo's UFP, unlike the 367. If the angle isn't >~10°. Though, at 100 metres, missing the machine gun port is unlikely. Whether that's worth losing 30 mm of pen at 500 m and 0°, I sort of doubt.

Other than the gun (and gun depression), it is the best WWII tank in the game I think

Hardly played the T-44 since it was moved up. The gun feels borderline useless at 6.7 and since it was the first 6.3 tank I got for Russia, I don't have a lineup to go with it yet, whereas I had feasible backups at 6.3

Unfortunately the T-44-100 faces 105mm APDS, ATGMs, and HEAT-FS. Such a shame this vehicle doesn’t get to use its full potential.

Protip for german player : U can Shot the cupola if you not sure where to shot it, or LPF your gun should pen it cause its freaking lol pen gun.
Still don't deserve 6.7 BR, should be 6.3 like it used to, the armor is good but its just a similar panther armor with more side armor and less gun handling. I will use german argument in here which is " at 6.7 it fight mostly HEAT slinging Tanks" like the german M41

first and foremost, it just insults my eyes by looking so ugly, but i'm pretty sure people just use them so you don't know what you're shooting at, which isn't very fair at all
i use them myself but only on half my tanks, and usually only for aesthetics

Here's a tip gamers, if you see a t-44 on a rampage, and you have CAS, their roof is only around 4mm! That means even German 7.92mm can go through at lose enough range. Not to mention American and German 20mm, which will shred them from the top.
