How to Replace a Fishing Rod Tip Top - Easy Peasy!

  • Here is a simple tutorial on how to replace a fishing rod tip-top and it is easy peasy. I purchased the tips and glue off of Amazon but you can find rod tip repair kits at Walmart or even your local tackle shop. I chose a rod tip repair with an assortment of tip sizes. Replacing your rod tip can be done in under 30 seconds, there is no need to take it to a shop near you. In this case, I lost the insert out of my guide and therefore have to replace the tip to prevent it from being broken off. Braid is not very abrasion resistant and requires an insert so if you have noticed that you are breaking off more than normal, be sure to check and make sure your guide insert isn't missing. Fishing rod repair kits typically cost less than $10 and are easily accessible. If you enjoyed this demonstration on how to replace a broken rod tip, please comment like, and subscribe. I know many anglers who just put rods aside when they lose an insert, but it's an inexpensive and fast fix.

    Just saved me the mistake of buying a new rod. My Googan Finesse Spinning Rod tip broke this morning. Only lost about an inch of the rod. Following your instructions and $3 Ozark Walmart kit saved my $109 Rod. Thanks!

    Excellent video. The only thing I would add is that when you are slipping the new tip on, I would rotate the tip as I slip it in place, spinning it around two or three times as I go just like threads on a screw, to help spread the glue evenly as it goes in place. That way you won't get one side with a bunch of glue and the other side with almost none.

    These kinds of tips are always useful, I would like to see more like the knots you like for different fishing methods, splicing braid to fluro and / or mono, what line you prefer for what situations, etc...

    Call me stupid, but I always thought all was lost when the rod tip breaks. This happened to one of my most reliable pier fishing rods (cheap but been my ol’ reliable for a long time). I mean I guess I figured there was a way to fix it but I didn’t know it would be anywhere near this simple. Thanks for this!

  • @williamelliott4444
    @williamelliott4444 3 роки тому +2

    That mini torch is too much heat. A lighter is plenty hot enough. You don’t want to break down the resin in the rod. Also, clean the rod area and wrap with tape before trimming with any type of cutter. The tape helps preventing the rod from splintering when trimming.

    • @Saltyscales
      @Saltyscales  3 роки тому +1

      You definitely don't need a torch to heat but I wasn't on it long enough to break down the resin. Tape definitely would be a great way to prevent splintering. 👌
