I really appreciate you took the time to make these videos. Took me forever to find someone actually go through the whole process in detail of getting the wiring set up. Planning to set my battery and unit up using these same connections. Keeps things nice and clean. Can't wait to get my Vivid set up.

Awesome video, and you saved me $20 for not having to replace the Cable assembly that came with the Garmin Striker 4. The red lead wire came out of the yellow fuse protector connector. Until you opened up the housing protecting the fuse, I thought I have to replace the entire assembly. Great video, and now I'll buy the quick connects you bought and hook them up to my ammo box containing my battery. Thanks again.

If I didn’t cut the brown and blue end wires and just taped over them while using the proper connections with the white and red. Will that interfere with the fish finder doing its job?
The reason I’m asking is because when I turn mine on traditional I see flat yellow lines not hills and valleys like everyone else. Thanks for any feedback

Its not what you used its how you used it you are putting weak points in the wire. When joining it the exposed wire doesnt need to be that long i yhink you saw that. remember that is metal your forcing down, over do it and you can damage the wire. its fine hand tight and a slight tug test and if in doubt solder it together or use the low heat solder connecters and a heat gun. Again dont use open flames it burns and make shorts use a heat gun it is about using the right tool for the job the wire cutters are blunt its not that it stoped working replace it with new ones even if cheap or buy proper wire strippers ment for that and the wires you cut off wasnt needed to be just fold them back and electrical tape it when you need it its there instead of cutting the sleeve hoping not to cut into wires and create a short to find the wires again and if you do cut it make the one wire bit longer then the other again preventing shorts if something goes wrong. The fact shrink tube wasnt use is ok you could electrical tape it up inatead of redoing everything also where will the transducer be places or connected to. Im not being mean im trying to help there are better ways to do things and please use the right tools for the job a vice is not the tool to join wires get a solder machine some thin solder with flux included and youtube splicing and soldering wires together the crimps isnt as reliable as solder. Im glad your trying bud alot wont even bother im just trying to let know what i saw and how you can improve. Good luck for the future and hope my advice comes in handy someday.

Nice project! But It will be much better if we can find a way to keep the yellow fuse case inside the battery box, keeping only the black sheath cable outside, because the weakest part of the entire cable are the sides right outside the yellow fuse box.

Awesome video! I'm doing the exact setup to the lowrance hook2 5 finder. My setup I have to butt together a fuse protector thats not already connected. I have the fuse connected directly to the battery with a disconnect butt and to the quick connect inside the dry box. I'm not getting power after I added the fuse, any reccomendations? Should the fuse be connected directly to the battery clamp? Any advice would be amazing, thanks man!

Honestly I wondered the same thing, however, I have been unable to find a wire diagram or pin-out diagram that shows the purpose of those two wires. I cut mine as you saw in the video and have experience no issues with operations of the fish finder.

this is the Plus CV4 which has a bigger screen but lower resolution than the std CV4. Not relevant to your video's intention i know. I use use simple spade connectors to battery in small dry-bag on an inflatable cat with no issues. The two spare wires are for transferring way point data to and from another unit/s.

Why does this video seem like a Mirror Image? (ie: Garmin FF & Garmin Box amongst other things are reversed Or is it just my Dyslexia?) Perhaps do the Battery Connection 1st so people understand your choice of connector(s)? Last But Not Least, Vice Grips need Pre-Adjusting to be effective. Good Video nonetheless.
