Installing my Garmin fish finder and I ran into these cables for the battery. Can someone tell me what the Blue & Brown cable are for? What do I do with these cables?? Answers please Im installing this right now! 🙏🏼

What type of battery did you use brother? I would like to hook up a fish finder, maybe some lights and possibly a usb charger you think id beable to do that off of one battery.?…

What was wrong when the unit didn't turn on? The "Heart Attack" moment? I have an identical set up but myunit will not turn on. I have confirmed thst i have 12.6v at the end of the power plug.

Nice project! But It will be much better if we can find a way to keep the yellow fuse case inside the battery box, keeping only the black sheath cable outside, because the weakest part of the entire cable are the sides right outside the yellow fuse box.

Someone needs to teach this fella how to use wire strippers. Not a vary handy handyman lol.

Great video, thanks. Maybe next time put the battery in the other way, and feed the cables straight up the inside of the box so there isn’t soo much tension on the wires. Cheers man 👍🏻

Thanks for that mate! I wondering if the fact of being 2 cables through the seal doesn't reduce the waterproofing.... I just think the rubber would embrace a rounded cable, but two cables would have a bit of gap between them.

I’ve had my Garmin striker 4 the last 18 months used it twice the connections to the unit corroded first time out all the work l did including the bid and big wast of money is enough to bring tears to any grown man’s eyes

I have the Striker Plus ice bundle so my transducer is the cone. If I want to mount my striker on my kayak this summer, will I need the standard transducer???

Why does this video seem like a Mirror Image? (ie: Garmin FF & Garmin Box amongst other things are reversed Or is it just my Dyslexia?) Perhaps do the Battery Connection 1st so people understand your choice of connector(s)? Last But Not Least, Vice Grips need Pre-Adjusting to be effective. Good Video nonetheless.

Wow would be an awesome tutorial if correct tools are used for correct application and better knowledge of tools also a primary hole would make life easier

You must include an inline fuse otherwise you are asking for a fire.

If you are going to post a tutorial at least know the safety basics. Wiring 101, always install a fuse off the positive battery post BEFORE going to ANY component this will isolate the battery from any short circuit in your box or switches. Without a fuse you are setting yourself or anyone else who follows your tutorial to a fire hazard.

If I didn’t cut the brown and blue end wires and just taped over them while using the proper connections with the white and red. Will that interfere with the fish finder doing its job? The reason I’m asking is because when I turn mine on traditional I see flat yellow lines not hills and valleys like everyone else. Thanks for any feedback

I really appreciate you took the time to make these videos. Took me forever to find someone actually go through the whole process in detail of getting the wiring set up. Planning to set my battery and unit up using these same connections. Keeps things nice and clean. Can't wait to get my Vivid set up.

I purchased that very same orange box (and battery) from Amazon and the box broke the first time I used it - dropped it a few inches onto the pavement while loading the boat and it cracked on the corner. Replaced it with the small Apache 1800 case (#64550 - cheaper & thicker) from Harbor Freight. Drilled the same hole you did, put the battery, small charger, & Garmin power cord inside (power cord sticks out hole), and have been using it since. Can't ever imagine this box breaking. By the way, since I'm using an inflatable boat, not a Kayak, I don't really need a totally dry box. Didn't seal the hole and cut the screw (using a Dremel tool) for the pressure relief valve flush with the interior. Just remove the split ring and the valve knob will screw right off.

This guy went to the trouble of showing novices how to make a watertight battery box. So, there were a few problems encounter, so what!!! The finished project shows how to make it, he never said he was an expert. Nice job mate.
