Hi Cas! This may have been addressed in another video and I missed it, but I was wondering what you use or recommend for your tidy totes. They look like they'd be helpful!
And thank you for your content and being such a great organizer. It wasn't until I saw a UA-cam of yours that I felt like an organizer finally understood me! I'm a butterfly, btw. Your ideas have really helped motivate me and I am so grateful for that. So thank you for what you do!

We were at home with 5 of our grown children and 2 grandchildren who were in town to celebrate our family Christmas, we played board games and just before midnight we poured our champagne,🥂 gave the grandkids juice in fancy cups and we shot off confetti sticks in the living room 🎉and made a huge mess that everyone helped to clean up.
      It was amazing 🤩

Cas, I can’t thank you enough for your free downloads. There are many of us who simply cannot afford another dollar. So many others sell their ideas but you don’t. You give me encouragement along with knowledge and that has made me a happy cleaner. My house is not always clean yet but I can do it happily while I use your advice or listen to your podcasts. Thanks for keeping it real with us. 😊

Cas has a lot that she does that costs money, so having free gives us an idea of her work. When there are so many choices out there, we need an idea of what will work for our brains not everyone meshes. So getting free stuff is advantageous also because it allows us to know if the person does quality or just throws together a copy of what everyone else is putting out there. I have seen that done, over and over. The ads when I play games are all like that, not what Cas does but other areas like manifesting for the new year or productivity and adhd. It gets old. And the ads all offer free xxx to download whether a video or a sheet of paper, and they look like copies of other easily found stuff with a different design. Heck if I wasn't plagued with migraines and adhd I could just make stuff up pages with new designs and sell them. So Cas offering free stuff shows us her work and what one can expect from her. I was just thinking of her and a video she did on stuff from a certain company. Someone asked what people have ordered after doom scrolling and buying from said company and she asked what people bought and like Cas's post there were people piping up saying nothing bad place or the stuff comes from xxxx. And every other rumor they heard. No one looks up the info they just read something and believe it. Like death hoax posts on some celebrity, then people start posting about x star died and do not check and the truth comes out they are alive. Then they get embarrassed over posting. But I am pretty sure this is simple competition pricing and smudge the other places reputation. Not to say none of it is true but I think the true stuff can apply to other stuff we buy elsewhere too. Like the competition they have that wants them gone so they can monopoly in the area they are in when it comes to sales.

I'm a single mom/grandma that's raising my grandchild, who is a teenager now. I always think about doing something with other adults, but change my mind Lol. I want my grandchild to have a great New Year even more. I let him invite some friends over for a sleepover and I buy some sparking grape juice that comes in a champagne bottle, along with pizza and a ton of snacks. Right before midnight I get the champagne glasses out and he opens the bottle and then we all scream the count down and toast. It's always fun. I'm content and happy knowing I'm creating good moments that will have lasting memories.

    • @sl9906
      @sl9906 10 місяців тому +76

@@GuinevereKnight sure. So when doing errands, clump them in the same area so you’re not traveling back and forth. Go first to the one closest, then the one nearest to that, etc. Use lists for what you need and stick to the list! Clean your tub while you’re in the tub showering. I put on the facial stuff, rinse, soap up, shampoo/conditioner, wash the walls, rinse off, remove the hair and lay on the tub surround, turn off the water, spray vinegar on the walls, dry off, use a paper towel to clean up hair from sound and tub, and voila. Vinegar is dried and scent free now too. I usually damp mop when bathroom is humid too. Easy and no effort means I stay clean. All those under a minute tidy ups are great. For kids choosing 2 appropriate outfits the night before, and give them the choice of which one, or tell them you’ll choose for them. It helps mornings run smoother. Not wearing shoes in the house saves TONS of time cleaning and wear/tear on your floors, carpets. My dad had a woodworking shop in the basement so it can be done. Shoes stay at the entryway and change into slippers or even socks/barefoot in house. Keep items where you use them. Cas talks about storing tea/coffee where you keep the maker/kettle. You can also use this idea for anything else in your house. A parent can keep their kids socks and clothes near the entryway if it makes getting ready streamlined (see “But first, coffee” on UA-cam) Also just lowering the amount of STUFF means less clutter, cleaning, tidying, time, and Stress.

Thanks for sharing how you were feeling. Idk if you are Christian or not but perhaps some of your followers are so i feel convicted to share. I was meditating on the Lords word after reading totally different scripture but The Lord reminded me and answered my prayers through his word. He put in my mind what he said to go and be Good stewards of all that he has given us. And that meant more than just finances. That means your time, your body, your strength, your patience your love etc. i never thought about that scripture in the context of being a stay at home mom and it took away my frustration and irritation and blame i was fighting with in my mind. Thank God for answering my prayers and giving the peace through my struggles.

My one-and-ONLY ironclad 'rule' -- is that no matter how late or how tired, I do not go to bed leaving dirty dishes in the sink. That alone taught me discipline I was lacking. That discipline spread to other areas of the kitchen, then to other rooms of my home. I play a game with myself sometimes, write down a list of tasks, set a timer for 5, 10, 15 minutes just to see how much I can get done, and I'm always surprised (and pleased!) that I can do more in less time than I thought I could. I still don't like cleaning (probably never will) but I hate it less if I can make it fun.

From one ‘boring’ Mom to another - do something (possibly slightly out of your comfort zone) that your kids want to try. Ziplining, indoor skydiving, snow soccer, etc. - even hiking a challenging trail near your home. One of my kids is into theatre, so I’ve helped make costumes for productions (often frantically, with very short timelines - picture me hemming an understudy’s far-too-long costume as they wait for their cue to go onstage. Forget ‘right for the role’; understudies should be the same SIZE as the performer!). Discovered a bunch of skills I didn’t know I had. Or, see if you can spend a weekend in Toronto or Niagara Falls with the same people you usually go to Vegas with. Probably nearly as much fun, and likely cheaper! (Although I’ve heard Vegas is pretty budget friendly.) Thank you for the good ideas, and kudos for volunteering on New Year’s Eve!

Thank you so much, Cass, for spending New Year's Eve as a volunteer... It is fortunate that nothing happened, but if it had... I remember once our car was hit by another from behind and I was heavily pregnant and volunteer ambulance staff took me to the hospital because I was feeling a bit shaken and guess what? My baby needed emergency assistance and it was discovered in that process of checking to see the effects, and it is likely that these volunteers saved my baby's life. No amount of drinking and fun can compare, but I do hope that you find a way to have a wonderful time, at another date.

My apron is my cape. I started wearing an apron about 6 or 7 years ago. It makes me feel like the 1950s ladies whom I look up to. They stayed at home and made it all work. I started sewing my own aprons too. I am starting to do the night time non-negotiable. My dishes used to sit in the sink until I got home from work the next day. Now they are done and I wake up to a clean kitchen and feel better when I get home in the afternoon.

You are so right, Cas. Tidying up at the end of the night makes the biggest difference to the cleanliness of my house.
Do you know what is even better though? I have taught my 3 kids to clear up after dinner. Between 3 of them, they are smaller jobs. 1 clears our breakfast bar after dinner; they each sweep a floor in the main living areas; 1 does the washing up; 1 does the drying up. We are working on the 3 of them doing the tidy too, but I do that at the moment . Let me tell you,... GAME CHANGER!! I had to teach them what to do, and I do make sure I clear up as much as possible after making dinner, but it makes such a difference!

Nancy: I also live in a small apartment with little cupboard space and counter space. Before we moved in I asked my husband if we could convert the coat closet to a pantry. He installed rails on the coat closet walls, then put up brackets and shelves. This has given me room for staples, canned goods and spices. In the large space on the upper shelves are oversized cookbooks, a box of china and my large mixer. This may seem like overkill to some, but allows me to cook and bake like someone with a lot more room!

The week between Christmas and New Year’s, is always a quiet time after the hustle of preparation, I always get a new book to entertain myself, on New Year’s Eve I was reading and didn’t even notice the changing year until I heard fireworks outside. You did a good thing by volunteering as an EMT that night, even if it was uneventful, you gave others the opportunity to celebrate and you created a memory for yourself by doing it. You are awesome! Happy New Year all year through. 🎉

Thank you, Cas! I've been watching your UA-cam videos for a few years now, so I've picked up most of these habits but wanted to say I appreciate how you always say to know ourselves and our style. The only one of these habits that just doesn't work for me is the nightly non-negotiable and I would make myself feel so guilty and ashamed if I let myself go to bed with my kitchen in a bomb after dinner, but over time I have accepted that I am just much faster at cleaning it in the morning when I have the energy again and sometimes, the best thing is to rest! However, if I do this, I know I am committing to cleaning it as soon as I wake up. I make my morning cup of tea and get started the moment I come down, so I always have that conversation with myself now. "Can I manage it tonight, or is it a morning job?" and I've let the guilt go. Thank you for helping us with great ideas and then always encouraging us to personalise them and accept ourselves. 💜

Wow! I love all of your videos, but boy did this one speak to me. When you talked about being your own hero and saving yourself because you deserve it, I felt that down to my bones. Great tips, we do the kitchen every night after dinner...it took time several years ago but now it's even my husband's second nature to clean up the entire kitchen after dinner...even vacuum the entire house!! Yippee!! ....but the only way to find homes for things on your kitchen counters really is if you have space..we have a tiny house and next to no cabinets in our kitchen and they wouldn't fit our items we need to use on the daily in our kitchen anyway, but keeping the kitchen neat and tidy really does make a huge difference!! ps: Congratulations on your new house..it's Gorgeous!!! xo

Just glad it wasn't shattered. A broken wrist is no joke. Knew a woman once who broke both wrists falling on ice. She was forced to retire from her job due to the pain once the arthritis set in.
