As a Swede the snow road part was hilarious. The road was in great condition. But if you pulling a trailer with summer/all season tyres I understand that you turned around. You never know how the road is further up. with bad tyres it can get dangerous fast. Thanks for the long and great episode.

On my trip, Jerome was a refreshing break from touristy, expensive Sedona. My favorite painting came from a small gallery in Jerome and I the artist happened to be in that day; what a treat. The narrow, switchback road did scare me...a bit. Again, thanks for the memories. No longer have the income of a job to travel; retired so get to stay home and watch your videos!

Hi there Traveling Robert. The building you said "seemed to be a hotel," the one near the mine shaft, is actually a private residence. Also, next time you come to Jerome, visit the museum which was to the right of the mineshaft. It's the best part of Jerome. Inside you can watch a short movie about the history of the town and tour the 2 story home of the man responsible for founding the town and owner of the mineshafts. Quite an interesting story. Also, I have 5 acres in Show Low, boy do you get around!!! Great to have you in Arizona back in February. Love your vids. Thank you.

Thank you, Robert. Snow makes me shake. Seeing you driving in it was frightening. Jerome was just wonderful. The sparse hillside buildings with scenic views were spectacular. There was much more to it than I had thought. But still, not much. I wish I could be there. Keep it up.

As always Robert, welcome back to Arizona. As an Arizonan, I love your posts on Arizona. Very cool.
Next time you're in Jerome, be sure to go to the old high school. Amost every floor has artists that rent or baught spaces.
For me, the best part was walking through the hallways on different floors. It was incredibly creepy, scary, but awesome.

Just got back from a four month trip out west. Arizona and New Mexico were definitely the highlight states. We loved Jerome too. Took my travel trailer through Jerome (. I don’t recommend doing this as the streets are really narrow) up to Potato Patch State Park. An awesome place. Will go back again. Nice video, Robert!

As far as the letters on the mountains above like the town of Jerome, The practice came from air plane navigation aids years ago so a pilot could identify the town he was flying over. I have been a pilot for 30 years and learned that just recently.

Thank you Robert for another interesting video. I always appreciate the added bits about the history of the towns and sites you visit. It motivates me to read further about these areas. Strange that that area is called Verde Valley as it sure doesn’t appear very green.
Strange also is the naming patterns of my old Southern family. It’s roots run very deep. Several of my male ancestors were named Green, a given name not uncommon in the 1800s. During the same time, several male ancestors were named Verde, which of course is the Spanish word for ‘green’. After 25 years of genealogical research, I have yet to understand why Verde was used by some family. Cheers

I would have turned around as well. That road did not look good at all! This reminds me of a trip I took to Kamloops, BC (google Highway to Hell) right after my dad passed away. What normally takes 3 and 1/2 hours took 8 that day because of the treacherous winter conditions! Glad you made it through that safely. Jerome looks like a cool old western mining town. Will definitely visit if I get to that area!

Another excellent video, sir! The trip down US 180 from Alpine was the correct choice; US 191 south from Alpine usually requires tire chains or aggressive tread M/S All Terrain tires and four-wheel drive (not sure your Colorado has that if I recall correctly from your other videos). You were wise to turn around.
The first scenic overlook you stopped at on US 180 is between Luna and the turn off to Reserve, NM. Looking east at the overlook then to the right, you are looking at the north end of the Gila Wilderness. I have a photo from that same place taken in mid-September 2013 that shows thunderstorms building over the mountains you were looking at. I will see if I can get it to you with the Lat/Long of the place.

Highway 191 is the renumbered Old Highway 666 aka “The Devil’s Highway”. I was cringing when you mentioned you were going to take it. It is hardly suitable for towing anything a long its many, many curves. It has more curves than the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee. It is a motorcyclist’s favorite.

Did the hear the story about the three Corvettes racing through there in 1969? Two of them crashed in the first few miles and went over cliffs and the last one blew a tire 5 miles later and rolled off the road. A total of 4 people were killed and none of the cars could even be recovered they were so ton up (because of the fibreglas bodies). I believe that might have been when they changed the Highway from 666 to 191/
