Your country covers were what I first came across, and they still may be my favorite thing you do. This is nice and smooth, great lazy sunday afternoon listening.
I mean, the feel is the same just notated differently, 6/8 creates more a movement and drive to the song over a waltz style in 3/4 which is a little floatier and spacey.
This is some of your best stuff. I'm really impressed by the melody of the verses being on the back note of the swing beat in a 6/8 signature - effectively being on beats 6 and 9 in a 9/16, which is absolutely wild. Such a fresh take on a well-loved tune. Outstanding work.
A therapeutic take on my favourite childhood song. Love how Alex changes the emphasis off key angsty passages, bringing a sense of uplift and hope. This song feels like a big hug.
Man you achieved everything you wanted to and more with this. All your covers and genre fusions demonstrate total dedication and a nuanced commitment to the craft. And on top of that you're also a raw talent. Love it.
It's sunday night in my side of the world, sudden heavy outpour of rain, just about to put my son to bed..this then came out in my suggested vids and it didnt disappoint, such a fit to the whole scene i described too. Awesome cover as always.
Honestly this just proves that Blink were bona fide brilliant song writers. Just high quality chord progressions, lyrics, pacing, etc. Alex has obviously done an amazing job to add to it and create something new.
I love your country ballads. My favorites. An all country album would be amazing. Oh I just saw your new album with all the country covers. Listening now 😊
its hard to explain, but the feeling I experience between the chorus to the verse is so incredibly powerful in this version. likes its being magnified.
It would be awesome if they brought you along on a tour and did a few renditions of their songs at least as an opener or intermission. You've covered so many!
Dude! Thank you so much for going into more detail with your mixing process, i’m a huge fan of getting to hear musicians that I really respect going through their creative process, I appreciate that you don’t necessarily want to give away all of your tricks and secrets, but I really enjoyed hearing you talk about how you modified the mix wave plug-in. I recently invested in that same kit and absolutely can’t wait to try more creative uses of that library after hearing this! As always, phenomenal job.
Between the original, the After Dark version for when the depression is feeling spicy, and now this BANGER for when I need to yeehaw my mood back to normal I think I finally have all my bases covered. Thank you Alex! 💙
I've never really liked country music, and then Alex started doing covers of my childhood songs. I still don't like country music, but I can jam to his covers all day long.
One of the marks of a good song is that it can be covered cross genre. If a punk band covers a pop song and it’s actually good, I know it’s because the original had something good baked into it.
I used to hate country now I love it Zach Bryan is pretty cool you might like his vibe it’s kinda punky. Hes said he’d make a Midwest emo album when he’s done with his album deal
This is so impressive man! It sounds like blink and the sad country songs of the 90’s I grew up loving. Really feels like it tells the rest of the story!
I like how Alex has been picking up where the Punk Goes... series left off, doing a consistently better job of it, AND doing the inverse with stuff like this while absolutely killing it there too.
This was my favorite song 25 years ago when I was a wild skating middle schooler 🤙🏻 Now that I’m a lame 40 year old this hits differently but still somehow the same! 🙏🏻
I cant wait to see you get a million subs casuse I'm eclectic, a failed composer and when I see this much talent in your videos, it makes me think about all I've missed. I would be so happy to see someone with this much talent and passion get where they deserve to be! Thanks for your music and thank you for being you dude!
To be honest I loved the whole thing but the thing that woke me out of it and made me realize I had to mash that like button was the relatability of having a camera fall out at the end and just rolling with it
Great time sig, great arrangement, great bass line and the clever use of capos for both guitars in both songs. This song is just a great cover...as per usual
If I could go back 7 years to my first dance at my wedding, I would try to convince my wife that this should be it!!! Maybe I’ll re-visit if (when) we renew our vows.
I mean basically it’s all these melodies and hooks you’re covering are so good that they work in a lot of genres. They’re all very anthemic and hooky at their core. You’re a good musician though of course no shade. I’d have been doing stuff like this for years if I wasn’t stuck in a shitty apartment or have my chronic pain get in the way. Sigh, never got to even see a fraction of my potential. Always was stuck at zero but I loved music so much I kept trying but the pain. And the place I lived when I finally felt maybe I could change it… but still stuck here and maybe I’m doomed anyway. All the stuff I have posted is just at zero so I know it’s not good compared to what I can do but I could rarely play consistently. So then I see someone else that’s a good musician it can also remind me of what I’m not doing which sucks. I also play all different instruments myself too. Yeah man I dunno… my life is a bummer I shoulda died at 16 but I’m still here at 38.
Bryant Roses also did a Dammint ya’llternative cover which is really good. That one’s the bluegrass version whule Alex’s is the CME version, both amazing❤
Not really a country fan here, but my mom is, so I've come to like some songs here and there. Gotta say that this sounds like a great cover. The lyrics really work well for this rendition. And the way the vocals and feel are conveyed is really great.
Waited for this a long time 🥳 Edit: I really liked that you put time into explaining the feel and stuff of the song. It makes the video has so much more body.
I love that I never know what to expect from each new video. Obviously, the music will be incredible, but will there be a skit, or a song breakdown, or an announcement, or something else!? My man keeps rockin and keeps 'em guessing.
Lollll my favorite part besides the whole song was the explanation.. specifically… the bit about your storage 😂. Beautiful video production value right there.
This ain’t “Dammit” this is “Dangit”
hahah yeah
Dagnabbit
Darnit lmao
Can just see Hank in the background "dang it, Bobby"
Dagnabit
As a musician you have to give so much respect to this guy.
More like "Dad Gummit."
dosh garnit
Dag gummit
Gat dangit

Your country covers were what I first came across, and they still may be my favorite thing you do. This is nice and smooth, great lazy sunday afternoon listening.
The switch from 4/4 to 3/4 is amazing. Well done.
He specifically calls out a swung-6/8 timing; can be reduced to 3/4, but it's 6/8 per meter
Every cover feels like an original with how much character Alex puts into it. Well done!
This sounds like how the song feels in my soul.
Turning early like Pop-Punk Blink into, not just a country ballad, but a WALTZ country ballad is absolutely incredible.
It’s in 6/8. A waltz is in 3/4. But I can see the confusion.
BRO!!! you just compounded them!!!@@jampetson
I mean, the feel is the same just notated differently, 6/8 creates more a movement and drive to the song over a waltz style in 3/4 which is a little floatier and spacey.
@@jampetsonit’s the same thing lol
@@roachwerks3043 well yes, but also not really. One feels more like |XxxXxx|XxxXxx| and the other is more like |XxXxXx|XxXxXx|
7:36 - This freeze frame actually fits the mood of this song well. It was meant to be!
Always appreciate your work and the care into each song. 👍

Alexandra Kay also did an amazing country version of dammit too. Both of them are amazing! Great job Alex!
I came into the comments to mention this too!

Alex brings out a new meaning in his alternative covers. I love it!
Honestly this just proves that Blink were bona fide brilliant song writers. Just high quality chord progressions, lyrics, pacing, etc. Alex has obviously done an amazing job to add to it and create something new.
I agree 100%
This is the most common chord progression lol
I love your country ballads. My favorites. An all country album would be amazing. Oh I just saw your new album with all the country covers. Listening now 😊
Always delivering the best blink covers!
PS: how come the lyrics on Dammit keep getting deeper and sadder every day?! 😢 A timeless classic.
I guess that's just growing up.

Man, phenomenal job on this song!! I started listening to Blink when I was a young teen in the mid 90's.
It would be awesome if they brought you along on a tour and did a few renditions of their songs at least as an opener or intermission. You've covered so many!
absolutely loved this treatment, added a whole lot of depth to the original
Big Blink fan here, and that was incredible! The chorus soars. Love it. A country cover of Look What Happened by Less Than Jake would be great... 😁
THIS
Seconded
Huge Blink fan, and i love all of Alex’s reimaginings of their songs, and when he does other songs in the style of Blink. He is an AMAZING musician!!
I really appreciate the "how it was made" section at the end. Great cover as always
Really appreciate the arrangement breakdown and all the thought that went into it. Really appreciate you brother

Same!

I'd amazed if you didn't vibe with Chris Stapleton.

This IS the best cover and one of my new favorite songs. Wow, man. Nicely done!
Super job on this. Thanks for making this man, I needed it.
