@@navynugget7 they didn't STEAL the material. All of the songs that wasn't belongs to them was totally re-arranged. If it's not a cover like in the video, of course, but a cover can be whichever
@Randy Randal listen to the bass line of How Many More Times and then listen to Smoke Stack Lightning- i’m a huge Led Zeppelin fan but that rip off is incredibly apparent and most likely intentional
@Randy Randal sure- still, led zeppelin still copied . nobody cares about those other bands because those other bands didn’t have anywhere even near the level of impact/fame that Zeppelin had . Led Zeppelin was praised for their creativity and were held as harbingers of new music so it should be noted what they did as well
Hard to believe a Zepp song could sound so good without Pages' guitar even in there. Really demonstrates how much depth the band had. Never hear many comments about how great a harp player Plant is. Devoid of a guitar solo, his harp filled in great.
You get to hear Jonesy and Bonzo very well in this. You get the essence of their presence. You also get more of a blues sense of Robert's vocals and harmonica. Fantastic, thank you for sharing.
@@navynugget7 just got a call from the year 2006. They want their generic reply back and also requested that you come out of the Zepp closet that you've been hiding in for so long. No one is gonna hurt you out here buddy, all are welcome on this wagon.
outstanding, and although they didnt write alot of thier more bluesy tunes they did preform them with exceptional grace and talent that cannot by denied.
My Findings Part 2: Led Zeppelin 1969-03-16 Tivolis Koncertsal Copenhagen, Denmark Tracks: 1. I Can't Quit You 2. I Gotta Move 3. Dazed and Confused 4. How Many More Times This song is song number 2 above. The tracks listed above origniated from a radio station. This show was not broadcasted live as it was happening.
My Findings Part 3: It was broadcasted some days after the original show took place, and as of yet, the date of the original broadcast is unknown. It is quite possible that this was done in 1968 but the airing was on the date listed above. The radio station secured the rights to only a part , not the entire show , from Peter Grant. Peter thus gave them the tracks listed above copied directly from Jimmy's master reel.
Yeah - I bought all my bootlegs in the late 1980s as records. Thanks for posting this song btw, my turntable is long gone, just tapes made 18 yrs ago...
There was a period where they were CO-BRANDING (transitioning). At least one concert promotion said both New Yardbirds and Led Zeppelin, if I recall seeing correctly.
My Findings Part 4: From there the Pre-Broadcast reel resided in radio archives until relatively recently. Around 1992 it was transferred to DAT I have all of the four of the above tracks in crystal clear .WAV format. My "I gotta Move" track is identical to the one in this post. Robert Plant clearly mentions to the crowd that Jimmy broke a string. This mentioning from Robert was clipped off from the song in this post.
Whoa I got shivers at 1.00 and I don't know why haha. This is raw! How is it possible that they can be just as good without any guitar? Love the pictures too.
The borrowing of songs has happened for years blues songs have been passed down since the blues was created! Kashmir, Achilles Last Stand, Since I've Been Loving You, Darlene huge numbers of songs that aren't as well known are amazing and written by Zep.
Thanks! I have seen the USB turntables. For nostalgia reasons I'm tempted to get a real turntable for the specific bandwidth of sound that only a turntable can provide. The lows never seem the same when digitized.
I read this performance was from a show in San Bernardino, California (08-08-1969.) This is the only song from the show of good quality because the tape recorder was right next to Page's amp so the guitar drowns out all the other instruments when he's playing, and as Page was changing a string at the time this recording is of a better quality.
white summer, stairway, whole lotta love, lemon song, how many more times, whole lotta love and lemon song werent cited until they were sued. and whole lotta love is a willie dixon song, but they took the small faces version called "you need love"
Yeah I've got this one as well.. Plant is great in this song, out of control and raw. Awesome song even without any guitar as someone else said here...
I'm surprised Jimmy didn't have a spare guitar (like his Telecaster) so as to not delay the start of the next song. I know it's early in Zep's career, but he always had a spare on stage, beside his amp just in case a string did break. I might speculate that this was an opportunity for Robert to show some range with the harp and vocals.... During their shows (which used to go on for up to three hours including outstanding encores) they would all have a crack at showing their virtuosity. I miss em
I agree but Im more fond of his current voice. The early work while powerful was a lot of wailing and screaming but in his later years he has really learned to control and perfect his voice. hes voice these days is really beautiful.
I did. guess that wasn't clear. Very nice. But page adds that je ne sais quoi. I don't know what it is I like about it, but I like it a lot! peace francesca
Ok everyone. The myths and guesses of this track are now solved! This song and this video post was bothering me for quite some time so I did some googling and research on this song and concert. I am posting my findings in 2 or 3 different posts here because UA-cam allows 500 char. per post.
The Lemon Song was recorded live in studio, and JPJ improvised the entire bass line. This jam does sound similar, but it's just his personal style, definitely not a composition.
damn' people like you placing videos like this, is the reason why youtube is so great (and I mean that in a none asskissing way ofcourse). never heard this before, where do you get these things man!!!
I certainly understand that. but some guy said to name five songs that zeppelin borrowed and did not cite. so i did. Tons of bands do this, zeppelin is just criticized the most because they are just so big. Don't get me wrong.
would be nicer with some sub-dued page guitar in the background. looks like they were going into dazed and confused at the end of this song. zep from inception to '73 is hard to compare, album wise and concert wise. a lot of songs after that were regurgitated into phy.graf. in '75. phy. graf. could have been a single album. i miss them ( all ). i like what plant is doing...page, no. jones, yes. i wish i could hear page, plant, and jones on an album with classical and new acoustic stuff. Something along the lines of ten years gone, four sticks (great acoustics and fav. song) battle of evermore, friends, bron-yr-aur, carouselambra, berstein and pachelbel (and jones dispalying his chops) i hope they read this and realize their full potential and tour with their egos on the wayside. great band. i don't think you will see another LZ. rr
Scrimmer, theres some software out that allows you to convert all those old records into digital files. Just throw em on the ipod or make a cd. You just need a cheap turntable and a computer.
robert plant was a giant small faces fan and sung whole lotta love exactly how steve marriott sang it. white summer is not at all original, listen to the original. stairway's intro is stolen note for note. and how many more times is taken note for note from smokestack lightning by the yardbirds. what i said was not false. this is coming from a giant zeppelin fan.
This is not an Otis Rush song. When Robert says they're going to carry on with an Otis Rush number, he was referring to I Can't Quit You Baby, which they played after this once Jimmy's guitar was repaired.
read over what i said. have you even heard the song smokestack lightning? believe me, im as big a fan as you are. i have a giant bootleg collection and play zeppelin on guitar like crazy. what i said in my other post was not wrong at all
I love how anything Led Zeppelin played that didn't make onto a CD is still better than what most musicians can come up with in the present.
Not hard when they stole all this great material!

@Randy Randal sure, but it doesn’t change my simple statement on the fact that Led Zeppelin has ripped off artists without giving any homage or credit

Incredible soaring vocals from Percy in his prime! He can sure blow that harp, too.
only a band like zeppelin could ooze the pure essence of blues at this caliber..
Me too, on vinyl (still have it). Plant sounds gnarly in this early stuff. It is from a radio broadcast in 1969.
That voice , and harmonica
Doesn't matter what they say. Zepp, as it were, was the greatest band. GOAT

A good band shows they don't need a guitarist.
Interesting harmonica, you can hear some phrasings that eventually ended up on When The Levee Breaks.

True... see: "Lemon Song" live bass improvision. JPJ was truly a legend. Very underrated performer, Zep had the absolute BEST in every member present.

Beautiful without the guitar. Love listening to JPJ so damn clearly.
Plant's vocals were so good, harps not bad either.

My bad. At :19 Jimmy Page is re-enacting the classic Jim Morrison (from The Doors) pose.
yeah, its when he sounded a lot like steve marriot. zeppelin is so awesome.
Oops, I didn't catch that.
It takes him 3 minutes to tune his guitar?
Is that right? You mean he's now doing it because he saw the one I put on here? Which video is it? I'll go engage him in word play.
yeah, but listen to the way robert sings it and listen to the way steve marriot sings it.
it is identical
