Hey guys! Many comments from different people are disappearing for some reasons. I can see many of them on the app on my phone but not on the website. Looks like comments with link disappear. Someone sent me this very cool clip about noisy cutter. Search for noisy cutter blender on UA-cam.
Nice work Bob. The final commercial looked great.
I'm crying when you did manual deleting of the geometry after the fracture modifier
Your channel is a hidden gem. It showed up in my feed and I clicked on it and have been binge watching. Someday it will be a big channel, you will hit the critical mass and youtube will promote it. Please keep making vid's
Thank you so much! :-)
Ok so I reposted it because I had bad keyframes at the beginning. Sorry for all of you who posted comments and likes. Buy you know, you can like it again... :-)
it was alright we could still spot you below the company logo ;)
but ok
@@JonathanMacher Yeah but it's hard to present yourself as a professional and make such a dumb mistake. :-)
For you Blender Bob, I will like and comment again. :-)
@@GabrieleMacchi Much appreciated! Thanks!
No problem, happens to the best of us. ^^
Who could blame you. With all this bacon smell around one could get distracted fast and click the wrong buttons. ;-)
Thank you for this so many great tips hours saved and hope restored
Hope restored? That's a new one! 🙂
I started learning houdini just because that fracture modifier didn't make it to the official blender yet. Awesome video again. We NEED more of these real production making-ofs :D
great decision to learn Houdini. making fractures in such way in Blender is not a perfect solution:)
Congratulations fo the ad, i love the idea of womens they gave!
If future VFX artists learn exactly only one fact today, let it be 17:57 on screen. I could hug you!
your videos have been such a treasure to find! thank you for uploading these!
Just discovered your channel recently! Your contents are just gold for vfx artist,
I'm glad you like it! Spread the word! :-)
finally a way to get organic cracks in Blender. Thanks for enlightening us.
You just blew my mind. never thought that there is such an easy way to merge high and low poly models, and then even the separation. I mean, amazing.
This is not Real by Fake but instead Real by Wizardry 😲
Thank you Bob for all the good stuff
Amazing.
"...a part that's freaking out like it's on cocaine?" Man, that one killed me! :)
great work.
I love your videos. you are on my top list of youtube channels. I really appreciate to see a professional teaching 3D. I work as a 3D artist for a software and hardware audio company and would love to see a video where you talk about what gear you recommend, graphics cards, ram and so on.
The biggest kick-ass graphic card, Nvidia, not AMD, as much ram as possible and as many cores are you can afford. That pretty much say it all. I run out ram on the project I'm working on right now. 11 gig definitively not enough but I work in the film industry and we do crazy stuff. Most of the project I do can't be rendered in GPU because they are too heavy. I have a 32 core machine. Not as fast as my 2080RTX but still pretty fast. Our farm is CPU only on 36 core machines and they are so fast.
Bob, glad I found your channel. You've got the same humor of Ian Hubert but your demos are well-paced enough to follow! Nice balance. Great challenges and solutions.
You're amazing thankyou
I used the Fractur Modifier Build in production years ago. The last stable version is 2.79 because so many changes appends in 2.8, it's made this patch unstable. So you can destroy objects in 2.79 (you can even do this dynamically without pre-crack the geometry) then export everything in alembic.
And you can use the Bullet Constraints Tool to create RB Constraints between every piece.
They can be broken by collision according a threshold.
Kai Kostak also create another Addon for this.
Good to know. But I can't work in 2.79. Check out may Maya to Blender survival guide ;-) ua-cam.com/video/qwUNsLmf34I/v-deo.html
AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great work as always.. Love the channel.. Hope you will continue for many more years to come..
It's just amazing how the ad agency was so worried about the weight of the model in the commercial... They choose a slightly over weight cast to match the tone and messaging, just to please the masses but the products they sell will promise a skinnier / healthy body in the end..
How to spot America... Everything is a fight for something, also man this man that... cringe fest of a commercial. But technique wise huge respect! That's some creative problem-solving, thanks for sharing it.
Okay, Yankee-phobe. To suggest that the U.S. has a monopoly on cringe-worthy commercials is to reveal your clear bias. The commercials I've seen in other countries are just as terrible. In some countries they're arguably more cringe-inducing.
Guys! Go to your rooms! Both of you!
The replies keep getting stupider... The first reply is clearly a kid, you on the other hand a grown ass man... Still huge respect though.
@@KEI-um1kc Uh huh. And the third reply is clearly from someone with a psychiatric disorder or consuming large amounts of drugs given how weird and inane their comments are.
Fantastic video! This is a masterclass in VFX production!
Great video! Cant wait to try this on some of my projects !
Super tuto, c'est vraiment intéressant de voir des breakdowns de vrais projets !
Awesome as always Blender Bob ♥
I think the glare node didn't work because of the threshold, if anyone wants to try this compositing directly in Blender just lower the threshold until it picks it up
I want to thank you for helping us middle/senior 3D Artists to grow and demonstrating all the mighty power of Blender, some more conservative people in the space don`t want to admit and keep they eyes closed on something they afraid seeing. Thank you so much!
You’re welcome!
Thank you really amazing!! 💥
You're the man bob!
This channel is gonna get big soon... Amazing content
Thanks Aashay!
Cool! Next to the Fracture Blender thingie, i'm guessing you can also knife project an .svg of cracks onto a plane or object. Some other hassles will arise yet it might be more worthwhile than this buggy Blender Build.
I can't believe you only have 4k subscribers!! great content
Just fyi if you hold alt when you click Deactivation it'll apply it to all the selected objects :)
Thanks Bob, that was fascinating. I'm going to play with these tools. Also I still haven't made your cooking. Sorry. One day maybe?
I think the glare node didn't work because of the alpha channel. There's some kind of workaround but I don't remember how exactly it worked:)
Maybe. I didn't spend too much time on it since I don't do compositing in Blender, ever.
I'm almost sure the threshold was set too high and the cracks were not bright enough, lowering the threshold should pick them up
Baconnnnnnnnnnn...................................great..its 9.20 pm and i want bacon......(damn)...Great tutorial and I must say that was a freaking blast (pun intended)
You could just use a solidfy modfier before fracture in stade of cleaning everything
I tried. Didn't work well. The fracture modifier likes to work with thick volumes apparently.
@@BlenderBob The bad thing of beta
Hey blender Bob. I have a small tip that would help you in the modelling stage (just the scaling part tho). I saw at 8:51 you kept scaling up the sphere multiple times to get a desired result. Well there is a way to scale up items faster. So basically the closer the mouse cursor is to the origin of the object the more sensitive the scaling becomes. So any small movements will result in big scaling. Idk if this made sense but I hope it does.
Yeah, I kind of knew that but didn't. I do this all the time for rotations to get more precision but that's an old Maya reflex. Never actually realized that for scaling. Thanks! We learn every day!
You look like you need vitamins... ;-)
For deleting the inside faces what if you moved the fractured model over the original, and put a vertex proximity modifier on the fractured model. Then you could use a mask node to mask out the vertices that aren't touching the surface of the original?
Interesting approach. I will give it a try. That's what I love about doing Blender Bob. People's contributions. :-)
Great content again! One question I have is how did you get a smooth shaded, but fractured mesh, to still look good at time 15:50 onwards? Whenever I've tried to use cell fracture or similar on a smooth shaded mesh, you see shading discontinuities along all the cracks. Maybe I'll have to try again...
I think I used a split edge modifier
Incredible content! Although, while deleting the interior faces, it would have been a lot faster if you selected all of the outside faces at once, inverted and deleted what was left! Worked well for me.
I did both methods actually. It depended on the shape of the shard
I'm only really starting out in Blender. I have a hardware question though: what kind of computer/OS configuration would you recommend for Blender, especailly when scenes start getting a little more complex? (I suppose what I'm really asking is : what do you use?)Great video's by the way. Thank you for the content.
In CG the rule is simple: you never have enough power no matter what. Make sure you use nVidia card to get the maximum of Blender, not ATI.
@@BlenderBob thank you for your reply and kind advice. It makes a lot of sense. Je pense avoir entendu un petit accent francophone, alors si vous permettez, un grand merci depuis la Belgique.
@@frankydrappier237 C'est un accent Québécois! :-)
@@BlenderBob Ah, magnifique!
would it be possible to transfer outside group from non-fractured model vertices to fractured? With very small radius so it wouldn't get anything inside.
Or by UV islands, because inside fracture should generate UV somewhere, hopefully not stiched to original geometry (I never tried it, so idk)
The problem is that the fracture model vertices don’t match the original. Eventually they will fix the fracture modifier and it won’t be an issue anymore. It’s probably going to be a geometry node thing though.
Hy BlenderBob, i have a remark, why you didn't add and apply a solidify in 2.80 before modifier fracture ? you wouldn't have wasted 3 days to remove the internal faces of your object in 2.92, especially to add a solidify afterwards for material purpose.
Anyway, Congratz the result is amazing ^^
I tired but the fracture modifier is trying to make blocks, chunks, and it didn’t work well on thin surfaces.
Hey Bob have you used RBD lab yet? great add on thats on the blender market!!
I don’t know about it. I’ll check it out
Oh wow!!!
Thanks!
@@BlenderBob You're welcome! Yeah its awesome! I was bummed when the fracture modifier add on stopped updates and didn't want to keep using old builds of Blender! RBDLab filled my destruction void 😆
You should do a video on how the penectomy was performed, perhaps one of your next 'useless' videos :)
When you did your cleanup I noticed the interior faces you wanted to remove were triangles, and the ones you wanted to keep seem to be all quads. Is there a way (I couldent find it) to select triangular faces only? Would have made cleanup allot faster. I bet a python guru could make a script to do it.
Not really because I have many triangles on the edges too.
Yes, you can Shift + G -> polygon sides ... but as Bob said this would not work in this case as it would select edges too. Sometimes there is no shortcut :D
@@JohnSmith-rn3vl It's ok, I blackmailed my daughter and got the job done. ;-)
I have worked with the compositor in the past and the glare node just doesn't work for me. I have tried in several scenes, with the outcome showing no change.
Someone replied that it’s because I had an alpha channel.
The experiences of animals are real and matter. Their suffering is identical in nature to your own. It is wrong to take pleasure in cruelty and violence, and it harms us when we do.
maybe u have to apply the location of the object befor u convert it to an object ?
so it doesnt spawn at a different place
I tried. Didn’t work. :-/
@@BlenderBob :(
are they remove fracture modifier?!
in 3.5 every where i check it seems disappeared!
It was a special experimental version of Blender so I don’t know. There’re was no maintenance on it. I badly want someone to make a real fracture system in geo nodes
Which software version for facture modifier
It was such a nightmare to use that I wouldn't recommend it. There are some cool addons that do a pretty good job now. You can also try this tutorial ua-cam.com/video/xKiv6dKupoE/v-deo.html
🤣🤣24:10
I hate this channel. You make me look like an idiot. I have no idea what I've been doing in Blender all these years.
Sorry... but you’re going to freak out when you see what we are working on now. But it will take at least six months before I can show the world so you have time to get up to speed. :-)
The ad itself is wack 😂🤢🤮
