Damn this is awesome i learn alot thank dude, Just asking how do you render passes for every single one of them? or do you just keep repeating rendering for diffirent passes
I did render layers. It was a bit confusing because I had three layers (front, middle and back) and each of these passes had three lights rendered separately.
Pretty cool shot form that crowd, once i knew they were there, than we do see them, they hardly move. But very nicely done, i did not see it at all at first
Yeah, we had to use the "stand by" animation that came with the software as we didn't have time to mocap to do manual animation but then again, if anybody focus on the crowd we made, that's because we did a very bad job. Everybody will look at the signer.
@@BlenderBob I guess a soft wiggle on one of the spine bones with a modifier in the graph editor would give a bit more "rocky" movement. But thats is more work, your shot already proves it looks very good
I thought I did. It's a polygon under the tires that emits smoke. Select that polygon and choose Object Effects, Quick Smoke. Adust the domain to the right size, add some turbulence and that's pretty much it. :-)
lol, you forgot to get some of the people to look at the singer, or turn them towards the middle, a lot of them look like they are totally into that right screen
Because the client may change the length of the shot so if he adds more at the beginning, then you are screwed. Also sometimes you need run up for simulations. Sorry, no fun facts on this one...

Ah ben! Voilà la 0.01% de la gente féminine qui regarde mes clips. Je suis tellement surprise de voir à quel point Blender est un monde d’homme. Pourtant quand j’enseignais c’était pas mal 50-50
Oh! You're one of the people who worked on Pacific Rim Uprising!!!! It's really inspiring to hear someone from the industry talk about blender and giving tips in blender, even though it's not industry standard yet! It gives me a lot of hope for blender, it's an amazing program after all! You're so underrated, bob. All these great tips offered for free, that's nuts! Thank you! I do have a question for you though... What programs and rendering engines did you use in the industry, and how would you say Blender / Cycles compares to Maya / Arnold or Vray?
Big shops usually do modeling and animation in Maya, VFX in Houdini, textures in Mari or Substance, scene assembly, shading in Katana, rendering in Renderman
Once again, I'm watching this going... man, this is the real-time problem solving we do on a daily basis in any kind of production. This is the real deal. I wasn't aware of that people application. Every day, something new lol. Thanks!
i know you're not a tracker (i guess that's why you have a tracking department to begin with) but how does one simply magick'd out a ground plane from a 2D plate that's that dark is it hand sculpted by guesstimation? i legitimately wouldn't even realize the ground is uneven and just added plane with noise displacement to it and hope for the best
The tracking software (not Blender, like 3D equalizer) will generate a basic ground for you. If you have objects that touch the ground, you need a precise ground otherwise the object will seem like floating. You can always try to track as many points as possible in blender then connect them together to create a ground.
@@BlenderBob i'm using pftrack and usually whatever i get from the automated point is too noisy/sparse to use as actual geometry. But who knows, if tracking is a whole dang department, there must be some tricks i'm missing/not doing right :p granted, i've only tracked footage from phone camera so there's probably issue coming from that
After 2 years of learning blender(via lots and lots of youtube vids) i just found this gem of a channel today! And already, some of my long time questions and issues with blender and especially the "Industry way" of doing VFX are no more. I pray to the youtube algorithm god to flood you with subs!
