I agree. I am near to completing my Claremont run. Was lucky enough to have him sign some of them for me too. I'm a late 70's-80's kid & these will remain my favorite books

I've already had my eye on a few of these suggestions, even though I'm supposedly "on a break!" 😜 Was happy to hear the Thor 140 Growing Man recommendation, too - I remember you mentioning that book way back! After the success of Invincible, The Boys, The Walking Dead, and more, i think finding your favorite indie comic, get a great copy of that first issue, or a variant you like, and do that for any you think will get an adaptation. I think there are still a lot of great hellboy comics that could go up, but we just don't know when

Great video!!! Looks like you had a great time at the ComiCon. I just went to the Steel City Con in PA a week ago and it was awesome. I picked up a bunch of Silver and Bronze Age goodness. I’m currently working on getting the complete Marvel Spotlight series. I was able to get #1,4,12,13, & 27 from the first run. And #6,7,9,10, &11 from the second run. I already have #5-11 from the first series which are the first appearance of Ghost Rider!!! 😎
Another great video idea, really enjoyed it. I feel like a couple of the dealers didn’t so much answer you question as push books they want to sell, but I still really enjoyed it
Great video and advice from these dealers. My two cents - buy what you like, if you wont own it for ten years then don't dare own it for ten days, and find the comics that when you ask your LCS about they wonder why you're looking for that book (stay ahead of the curve) nothing is too obscure.
What great timing. I was sitting down to watch this and next to me was my unopened mail call I just got in for a copy of ASM #33 and... it's the first comic mentioned :D
Thank you for this video,I gain lots of knowledge from interviews, and it powered and fueled me up for this comic industry on collecting Buying and Selling all helpful information. Thanks Again.
Industry artists and comic book historians speak of Miracleman with the highest reverence. The Alan Moore run is still my favorite story followed by the Batman: Year One story. Then there’s Dark Knight Returns. The Watchmen, and The Killing Joke…all relatively affordable for those that cant buy Golden and Silver age books. Of course, there are the Copper perennials…ASM Todd McFarlane run, Uncanny X-men Claremont/Byrne run.
I loved what the guy said about finding characters surrounding the main person. Such good info ! I loved this thank you. I just started comic collecting. I had a bunch n just started getting into it and it’s so fun
I've never seen such a genuinely honest and welcoming community. However, the resources out there? Holy crap - hiding prices behind a paywall while STILL having to text search individually (rather than scan in like some collection apps do) for pricing on comics, that is stone age.
I'm chuckling to myself on these recommendations. A lot of these books are $1500-$2000 (or MUCH more) if you start checking out the prices for these. Nice to know...but my apologies, they are way out of the price range for 90% of collectors. I appreciate what they are saying, but I'm trying to find stuff that is in the $200-$300 range that I can sit on for a few years. Thanks for doing the foot work though Sir Swagglehaus. 🙂

In theory, a good concept for a segment, but too many of the people seem to try to push the book they are trying to sell. As a Marvel guy, I agree DC is undervalued but I've collected long enough to know WB will f up DC when they can.
I felt like the dealers were just genuinely excited about the books that they had :). They're just offering suggestions. Also hopefully DC can eventually turn that corner.
@@Swagglehaus thats the major thing. (Basing price climbs on live cinema) if DC does eventually get there 💩 together. Talk about alot of room for growth on those books.
I agree with you Larry. I think something more interesting would have been to interview other collectors and see what their thoughts were. It seems like a conflict of interest asking what a collector should buy to a dealer... If I were a dealer, I would want to sell my most expensive item (like the guy at the end). Seems silly to be asked what effectively would be, “what can someone buy from you for cheap because it’s undervalued”?! If a dealer is doing their job right, none of their books should be undervalued. They’re there to make money and move product. They may be genuine in their enthusiasm, but at the end of the day they at there to sell.
great interviews. now Iʻm wondering if I need to dig up my comics I have been keeping in my comic boxes and get them graded. I have tons of 80’s - 90’s xmen, Spiderman, Adam Warlock and the Infinity Watch, Spawn, etc.
Harley Yee is a great guy, actually gave me his table one year at the KC con in the 90's because it turned out he couldn't make it...so glad I didn't sell many books then! ;-)

Wow swag, this video is excellent, so informative, you asked great questions. I do have a question for you. I have golden age newspaper comic strips of a now defunct newspaper from England. The comic strip is called "space captain Jim stalwart" if any of your contacts have these and would like to sell them please let me know. I need very few to complete the run, 1954-57. Awesome job
Absolutely great video. The insight was very interesting. I have to say Tales to Astonish 27 and the Secret Wars books are the ones I would think about. I keep thinking DC Flash and Green Lantern will eventually go crazy. I've never collected old DC books but those I think more about everyday. The art is great on those titles and they can be had for a good price.
Secret Wars #8 is a fantastic book that will always be well collected, however as an investment it's difficult for me to get excited at a 9.8 with over 3000 copies on the CGC census.
Almost all those comics talked about and seen in the background I either own now or used to own (before my mom made me get rid of them). I'm surprised I didn't see anyone I used to know since I lived in Orange County for 54 years and went to a lot of the shops like Land of Oh's and Ah's by Mile Square Park, Freedonia Funnyworks in Orange, and Warriors, Wizards and Robots in (Westminster?). Anyone old enough to remember those places?
@@comicbookninja5268 I was going to Freedonia Funnyworrks around that time frame. I stopped buying comics around '96. I would have liked to have checked them out though.
I agree with Jeff at Angelo’s Comics: why ISNT a magazine sized comic considered a first appearance? I always use Marvel Super Special 16 as an example. First true Boba Fett, Yoda and Lando, but people want Star Wars 42 and 43, which are REPRINTS! SMH. A first appearance is a first appearance…and the mags are COMIC BOOKS! And XMen 12 also features art by the legendary Alex Toth, a giant of comics and animation.
Sorry guys but I disagree with this type of "speculative hype/buy this for 2022" kind of video. You have to ask yourselves what does this do for us collectors? Firstly, it suddenly propels lesser key comics that were generally within our price range into the stratosphere. Which means, something you wanted to buy suddenly becomes beyond your budget. You only have to check the comic auctions and Ebay to see the effect that profiling and hyping a lower tier comic on UA-cam does to its price soon after. I've seen it time and time again. A classic example in this video is the guy from Champions Comics who hypes Amazing Spiderman #33 as a must buy issue. This nice end of story comic that's been sitting there not doing very much sold in a grade 9.4 at Heritage Auctions in Summer 2021 at it's highest sale figure of $1600. Ok, we were in the bubble after all, Heritage are the upper tier of auction houses. After the above video was released the same grade just sold on ComicLink for $2556. That's a 60% increase for a non key issue? Believe me, this is not a coincidence. Maybe you will also see Avengers #9 (1st Wonder Man) go through the roof next? Can the people who make these videos please think about the affects they have in the marketplace. I accept that some collectors are into this type of speculation but, they should in turn accept that feeding their desire can also be compromising.
The biggest problem with collecting comics is once it has been professionally graded and sealed you never can look at or enjoy the comic within. If there was a way of recording the entire issue say as a pdf file and then encapsulating that in a QR code on the back then you could always scan that and actually SEE and READ and APPRECIATE the art and story you paid so much money for. Regrettably this can never happen because the grading companies are third-party entities in these proceedings and the original publishers (more often than not DC or MARVEL) would never allow such a thing to be done cause they want you to pay THEM and read those comics online on their various web services.
I'll save everybody 22 minutes of their lives and give you the answer. Question: What do comic book dealers think collectors should buy? Answer: They should buy whatever the comic book dealer is trying to sell them.
Micky the best books you should buy is the ones you want.. Don't look at the market because it's a field of "what should I get folks out there".. Buy a book that you want is the best and on,h way.. Look at Silver surfer #3. Last year all they hype and now look at the masses on that book are screaming nooooo.. Foolish way to buy IMO
Hey what’s up this is Bob in Connecticut anyway if they are a key vintage the way the market is now you have to be rich to buy that stuff. I got my books a few years ago before the comic book boom. Thank God I still have my superman 1 5.0 moderate professional restoration no trimming pieces added yes I was told I would get well over $100,000 for that there are only 165 copies that exist. I still have my Batman 1 5.0 restored I paid $10,500 the superman I paid $12,500. I have two copies of amazing fantasy 15 one of those is 6.0 I only paid $4000 obviously it’s worth well over $100,000 6.5 just sold for $225,000. I still have my amazing fantasy 15 8.0 restored no trimming believe it or not I got that for $450 years ago ungraded from the comics buyers guide newspaper. A few other books I have tales of suspense 39 8.5 X-Men 1.7.0 fantastic four 48 9.6 Amazing Spider-Man 1 6.5. Yes everyone has a good point you have to be wealthy to buy these kind of books
Nightwing is $100 because no one is confident with DC spec. The only comfort is with Batman, and his rogues gallery...that’s it. Any Batman characters like Nightwing, or Spoiler or Azrael is a longshot, and even if there is a chance, we won’t see them for at least a decade. Not in cinema at least. Also let’s face it, Batgirl has been in development hell, Birds of Prey got cancelled etc.
For sure, but even movie spec aside, he's become a fan favorite character...so def seems like the foundation is there for that book to really blow up. (Kinda like how the deadpool book blew up)
You know I haven't taken the leap into that world yet, but I am curious about it. Maybe next show I'm at, I can do some interviews with people about it.

I have been snagging Tales Of Suspense as well. Still a lot of affordable books.
Lol... I hung Batman 423 on my wall (in a sleeve) when I was a kid, because I liked the cover 😬... Who knew it would be worth so much!
I agree about the ASM 33. Also ASM 50 ,Batman 251 and Joker 1 from the self titled 1975 series
Awesome video...sounds like they know their stuff
Just picked up a copy of ASM 33 at my local lcs. Great story!
Incredible advice! Thanks!!
Do you remember Mile High Comics had a store in Orange County?
@@comicbookninja5268 No I didn't. Where was it and what years was it open?
d
@@greatpix I think it was Anaheim. It was the early 90's and I only went there once. It wasn't the huge warehouse like the one in Colorado.
@@comicbookninja5268 I was going to Freedonia Funnyworrks around that time frame. I stopped buying comics around '96. I would have liked to have checked them out though.
Hey hallo what is the name or how can I find the book plastic covering the comic that has the grading
Great video. Collective thinking.
And XMen 12 also features art by the legendary Alex Toth, a giant of comics and animation.
loved the video!!
So, what, no-one should make any content?
Great advice thanks swaggy P
Mr. Natural, Dr. Atomic, Fritz The Cat, Freak Brothers are 50 years old now.
This is basically Veve. For marvel at least.
I'll save everybody 22 minutes of their lives and give you the answer. Question: What do comic book dealers think collectors should buy? Answer: They should buy whatever the comic book dealer is trying to sell them.
The Marvel Previews with Satana I bought for £2 and gave my copy to Andy Lanning as a thank you for searching for some comic art for me.
love your channel
How do I get Phil's hairstylist?
Micky the best books you should buy is the ones you want.. Don't look at the market because it's a field of "what should I get folks out there".. Buy a book that you want is the best and on,h way.. Look at Silver surfer #3. Last year all they hype and now look at the masses on that book are screaming nooooo.. Foolish way to buy IMO
Thanks for this video. Good info⚡⚡👍👍
I wanna have beers with elveen lol
Great Content !!!!
Lots of nice books in every booth!
I was the guy that bought that Vampire Tales first Blade solo from him!
First thing I always wonder is how badly the previous owners of those expensive comics got ripped off by some of these fast talkers.
Hi quick question do you know the best place to go get bulk comic books for a good price???
Nightwing is $100 because no one is confident with DC spec. The only comfort is with Batman, and his rogues gallery...that’s it. Any Batman characters like Nightwing, or Spoiler or Azrael is a longshot, and even if there is a chance, we won’t see them for at least a decade. Not in cinema at least. Also let’s face it, Batgirl has been in development hell, Birds of Prey got cancelled etc.
For sure, but even movie spec aside, he's become a fan favorite character...so def seems like the foundation is there for that book to really blow up. (Kinda like how the deadpool book blew up)
Batman 423 CPV!! I sold a 9.2 ASM 62 to that guy 2 years ago ...
Wow what an amzing resource
Thank you for making this video
I wish Mr Zurzolo expanded on the “original art” market and the potential future it may hold. Do you collect OA Swag?
You know I haven't taken the leap into that world yet, but I am curious about it. Maybe next show I'm at, I can do some interviews with people about it.
@@Swagglehaus I think its a very interesting topic; I’ll be looking forward to the insight you may find.
It is amazing to see that many books worth that kind of money in the same place. Af15 should have armed guards at all times
