Well we can’t say she’s not well fed 😂
😂
Ms. Bonita is chonky!
Big chonk
Haha I love squirrels
That's all you took away from this vid?
Wow, 11 years. That's quite a lifespan for an animal this little. She seems great :)
Your RESPONSIBLE co existence with her has led to her living years longer than normal! & they show us, that they enjoy the relationship with us, as much as we do with them. I'm a firm believer in the scripture that says God gave us the animals as a gift. Everyone who interacts with them feels it, believer or not... But I'm not trying to evangelize, I'm only here to thank you for your beautiful story.
This is utterly amazing! Lady Bonita is truly magical! The relationship you have with her is magnificent!! Also, I feel she loves hearing your gentle voice to be very calm and soothing! You are both blessed to have each other! 😊❤
The squirrels in my backyard are new every year. I assume they don't live more than a year or two.
God bless you for taking care of the squirrel I live in Cape coral Florida right next to Bonita springs
God bless you for taking care of the squirrel I live in Cape coral Florida right next to Bonita springs and take care of six spayed and neutered cats for 14 years everyday
Thank you geobeats, for featuring this sweet, kind lady. It's a great privilege to have wildlife as your friend.
To some just a backyard, but to you a world unto itself. And you're right, and wise, that many different worlds exist within inches if we are willing to see them. Wonderful video.
Good on you lady!
I love this response!
What an honour to have her in your life xx
I haven’t smiled this much all week. Well done ma’am, well done.
When you leave that corporate life… you begin life. This was such a beautiful story. ❤
I have been studying squirrels, possums, you name it, in Massachusetts for years. I have never heard of ground squirrels. What a remarkable array of animals you have. I can't believe you have taken ticks off a wild squirrel and are brushing her. Wow! It is a wonderful world when you start looking closely at nature. I never tire of it.
Hey Massachusetts 😊. I found this story so sweet and heartwarming🥰. I never heard of ground squirrel before this video. In Western MA, there are black squirrels, which I find fascinating. None in my yard, but I've seen them in little clusters around town🙏.
@@dangergurl4045 I grew up in Massachusetts... Eastlongmeadow and Hampden
Like marmots.
If you hadn't lost your job, for whatever reason, you would never have discovered this beautiful world just a few yards from where you live. I envy you and your life.
I envy your window into nature. My sympathies on losing your job if it was precious to you.
I didn’t know there were such things as ‘ground squirrels’🐿️
Thank you for telling us all about the beautiful Ms. Bonita and her partner Sledge! This Aussie enjoyed the tale very much. Thanks for providing the wildlife around your home with such a safe and welcoming space ❤🇦🇺
groundhogs/marmots and prairie dogs are also related to ground squirrels
😊 I enjoyed this very much.❤
@@bird2112 Cool thanks for that ☺️ We don’t have any of those species here. We actually don’t even have squirrels. Always nice to learn about new animals.
@@TheAstroflightTo destroy these animals without knowing their proper place in nature could be disruptive for people to, we don’t know what keeps or how certain animals maintain more potential predators at bay, by one keeping population down of a more dangerous future threat, I hope one day people don’t regret the killing off of these animals who can potentially be beneficial to us. God created all people and creatures, I hope someday they don’t decide to fight back.
@@anniegarcia828 You need to stop and think about the meaning of 'introduced pest' or as Americans call them, 'invasive species'.
This person should become an ethologist! This was one of the most interesting videos I've ever seen.
. . . .or a children's story book writer. Beautiful narration!
I love this woman’s humble and thoughtful approach to being a friend to a wild animal. She took the time to identify what species Miss Bonita is, and what foods she needs. She made sure that feeding her wouldn’t cause her harm by encouraging comfort with other humans. She lets Miss Bonita guide their relationship and choose the activities they share. And she feels that she’s the one who’s received so much from their friendship ❤
This is one of the most beautiful human and animal stories I have every seen and I have been around for several decades. Thank you for sharing this amazing relationship.
What a lovely relationship!❤
Thanks for this story that contains a person's insights and observations. It's very detailed and thoughtful in a way that most of the wildlife videos are not, with the learning experience of a woman who has been able to gain so much from her close relationship with a particular ground squirrel and other wildlife she's come to see with more understanding and appreciation. This lady has a wonderful attitude.
A clinic in how to appreciate nature.
I had a rat coming around for a while. I knew who it was from it’s broken tail. My cats brought it in several times, then I found it in my pool skimmer holding on for dear life, while it was running, so I saved it again. I said “one more time and I’m buying you a cage!!” I never saw it again 😢
I’m (animal) crazy, and love this type of story. Politics, weather, crime.. sucks the life out of me. Thank you, Ms Bonita and LuAnn, and GEOBEATS. 🐿️🐿️🐿️
Me too julie!🙂it can be soul sucking😞
Amen, they suck the life out of me, too! Animals are such a gift!
@@maureenobrien9815 100% I will take anything beautiful about animals anyday.
Me too! Happy to see so many other vegans here, those who respect and have compassion for animals! 💚
Thank you for sharing your beautiful friendship with Ms Bonita! I love when people open their eyes to the wonders of nature in their own backyard; it's magical. And thank you for showing us how special ground squirrels are ❤ interesting!
Rodents are so cute. I love how they eat with their little hands. I didn't even know a squirrel could live up to 11 yrs. Google says 3-4 and in captivity around 6 yrs. Miss Bonita is blessed with a long life, a loving bf and a caring neighbor.
Thank you for joining us ❤️
As horrible as the lockdowns were, alot of people then had the opportunity to slow down & reflect, and as this woman here, learn just how loving & beautiful our wild animal friends are ❤
There are always gifts in trauma.
What a lovely message this lady gave!
I'm sure this was long before Covid lockdowns if she knew the squirrel was 11 years old.
Yes. I noticed there were quite a few people, of all walks of life and financial situations, could not accept any change that wasn't their choice first.
Your comment is loving and beautiful.💗
I love this one. It's wonderful to have her share these life lessons with us...
Absolutely fascinating! And I'd never heard of California ground squirrels before! I'm so impressed by your kindness and your humility. ❤🐿
I agree! I’ll have to google. Fascinating ❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Agreed!
#2FreshBuns agrees, this was very interesting!
I'm from California. I used to jog along the river pathway. Ground squirrels will scatter into dens and tree squirrels running up the trees. It's interesting to see different species co existing together.
Helped her have a safe place and enough food to raise 11 generations is pretty cool.
You are so right about just watching and paying attention!!! Watching animals ( pets) and wildlife is a continuous learning experience and very enriching to our lives. Maybe if we did that more, we would be more appreciative and gained more respect for the world we live in instead of only using its resources and acting like pests.
Magical.
A friend, is a friend, is a friend.
Ms. Bonita and you are very lucky to have found one another.
Wild animals lead far, far more complex lives than we realize. That is until we watch them carefully, like this sweet lady! Wonderful video about living with nature harmoniously. Bless her.
Thank you for sharing your relationship with this amazing animal. You should write a book. I’m looking at my squirrels differently today!
Ms. Bonita is a very special creature! I'm so envious right now. I want a special squirrel to like me as much as Ms. Bonita likes you!
Very cool! I love the ground squirrels in Colorado. They just bring good vibes when they show up. Never mean. ❤❤❤
I did the same--I started noticing and feeding the animals in my backyard, and I noticed it had the side-effect of reducing my daily rat race anxiety and stress levels tremendously. My backyard is my everyday sanctuary now. Nature heals. 🙏
Precious. What a precious story, and yes, it's magical, isn't it? Another "wavelength".
What a lovely relationship between a squirrel and a human - and also very informative - the first time I've heard of ground squirrels. Long live Ms Bonita!
That was a really beautiful narrative, Ms Bonita is very sweet, I hope she has even more years to come.
Such a beautiful relationship ❤❤❤
Ms Bonita is magnificent. I like the "flowing river of energy we never notice" analogy. Very apt. Some people pay attention to nature more than others, for some it took a pandemic to stop and notice. Many folk have returned to their former oblivion. It's great to know the wonderful Ms Bonita (and fellow garden tenants) are noticed amd appreciated all year round.
Ahhh. Love her♥️♥️♥️😘
Beautiful story
Nature is so beautiful and peaceful.

Lovely video! What a special gift to have formed such an extraordinary animal/human bond. I love Ms Bonita! 🐿 🍏🥬💕💕❤😊
Sledge is the baby daddy 😂 too cute. I love this ❤
Ms Bonita loves her baby daddy Sledge because his scars prove he's a real man's man and will take care of her and those babies at all costs🥰🐿
Very well said!
Oh, the joy I got from this story! Thank you. 💜
11?! Wow! She's so cute! ❤
Beautiful heartwarming story.
Delightful!❤
I love this story! The lady is so right about watching wildlife and nature - it is like a river of energy, always flowing. Thank you! This is such a sweet and interesting video with Miss Bonita.
ALL of this video was wonderful! Learning, too.
Very Educational video. what a precious relationship connecting with nature is priceless. her name says it all.
Truly incredible
Such a wonderful and priceless relationship.
This is the coolest story 😊❤
So beautiful to see. ❤
A beautiful story so eloquently shared.
What an amazing journey this woman & Ms Bonita are sharing!
No matter where we live, we are almost always surrounded by nature if we look closely enough. A simple act like putting out water for the wildlife around you can be the beginning of an incredible journey of discovery.💖💖💖
Thank u for your words on slowing down and watching nature I used to do that B4 my grandson was born now he's 4 so it's time to share nature with him so thx for that pause! Thank u for sharing Ms. Bonita too. I'll be sharing this video with my grandson!!!
Such a beautiful relationship they have 🥺😍❤️
Oh how i loved watching and learning from this... thank you!!
If only all humans would view life the way this beautiful lady is doing, animals would be so much safer and loved.
I know we love and admire the animals featured in these videos, but how many truly wonderful humans are featured, as well. So many compassionate, aware people just like the woman in this video. It warms my heart.
What a lovely story....it's so nice how people treat with kindness, caring, and loving to these AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL ANIMALS. 2 thumbs up all the way!
We had a pet squirrel named notch, because of her ear. Notch came to our house one winter and stayed. I deemed it a great honor when she let me rub her after we had her awhile. We kept her well fed, but once she got impatient and pushed a screen in to come in our home. You have a beautiful relationship with Bonita. If everyone took in nature each day our planet wouldn't be in the shape it's in . I am blessed to live in the woods. Much happiness to you and Bonita.
A heartwarming story 🥬🌿 An example of people respecting the natural world, and the gifts which come from those relationships 🤗 Hugs to Ms Bonita 🍎🐿️🥬💞
What A Sweet🐿️Squirrel Family! 🐿️Sledge Must Be A Really Great, Protective Dad! And Miss🐿️Bonita Is So Trusting & Adorable💞...& I Love How You Don't Intervene With The Babies So They Can Follow Their Natural Instincts! GOOD Squirrel Research!👍 Gorgeous Vulture!
Thank you for taking the time to get to know her, in turn you have made a friend and enriched her life.
Beautiful.
**OH HOW WONDERFUL THIS LOVING STORY IS!! THANK YOU, MY FRIEND!!**
This is so interesting. Thank you for sharing your curiosity and kindness with us. ❤
Thank you, Luann, for helping Ms. Bonita- so cute.
Absolutely loved this! Ms. Bonita is a charmer. 😘 I'm the crazy wildlife mama. Have to feed the raccoons first, on the patio (and change the water in their kiddy pool 🤪). Then I can feed the deer while the raccoons are busy (also, have to put out another pile of food in a different location for Bucky, the girls don't like him hanging around this time of year 😂). And finally, have to feed the squirrels and birds. And pails and pails of water. It's a labor of love. Expensive but well worth it. 🥰
This was fascinating and educational!! Thank you for sharing! My favorite part was seeing Ms. Bonita stretching her cute little arms out, it looked very dramatic to me
Wonderful and fascinating, my day always feels better after watching this channel :)
They are absolutely beautiful and such intelligent little animals, and yes they can be extremely loving and affectionate too. We rescued an eastern grey squirrel 🐿 a little over 4 years ago, and we still have her, thank god. When it was time for her to be released she decided she wanted to stay, so of course we let her. Her name is Miss Daisy and she is literally the best little girl, I thank god for her every day!!
This was so lovely. So few people share with nature-heart and soul knowing we are all one.
Very sweet and adorable ❤❤❤❤
So true, I also learned, after slowing down, that there is a whole very interesting world that the creatures who inhabit the direct world around us have that is fascinating. In our busy lives we overlook this, not giving much thought beyond the fact that they are there. Not just squirrels but birds, and many other small common creatures, interacting intelligently the way this woman has after observing them is like expanding your world and is a privilege.
She is adorable and I'm sure it's the "friendship" you share with her that is helping her to live longer :-) Bless you for understanding All Life Matters.
This has been the most entertaining, heartwarming and informative video that I have seen in a while! Thank you for taking time to stop and listen to the flow of energy and caring so deeply for the wildlife that you encounter. ❤
This was such a kind and gentle story. I really enjoyed learning about different squirrels and how ground squirrels live under ground and like fruits and vegetables. Thank you for sharing your beautiful friendship with Ms. Bonita ❤🐿️
Beautiful! ❤ Miss Bonita loves Sledge & he’s a tough guy but gentle with her! He’s a good protector😊 Perfect! Yes, the Sacred is all around us! We have to stop & open our eyes to it. 💚
Squirrels are such wonderful little creatures. Forming a bond with one, especially one that you didn't raise from a baby, is truly magical. I have a few I've been working with for years now in my yard and several of them now respond to a food call I created and come running like dogs when called and will eat out of my hand and allow me to give their little cheeks scritches every now and again too. They never bite my finger when taking the food, they are always as gentle as they can possibly be and even make sure not to scratch with their tiny little razor claws. What's more amazing is their ability to distinguish people as they will not allow anyone else in my family to get as close as I do to them. They are just too dang adorable!
Wow what a beautiful story. And a gorgeous big squirrel!!
I learned a lot from this video, thank you for sharing!
What a beautiful story. The woman's voice and her telling of this tale took my BP down a few notches. 🥰
I did wildlife rehab via a state license for over 10 years in No. Ca. And rehabbed ground , grey and flying squirrels more than any other critters . They are funny and delightful-I rehabbed hundreds and each had their own personality. She has brought you the gift of a window into nature- life on this planet would be very different if everyone could experience it! Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the comment!
Beautifully narrated. Thank you. ❤
Oh my gosh...SO, SO SWEET! Love that momma squirrel & her entire family!❤️
Squirrels are very intelligent…great problem solvers…very much underrated. Wonderful video. We had a large stand of old, beautiful trees. He would arrive on the same branch at a specific time in the afternoon and we would have a conversation. He never flew down to me, but seemed to really enjoy the interaction. I can understand the wonderful emotions felt by the human in this relationship.
This is so beautiful. I think the friendship she has with the lady has really
Made a difference 11 years old. Remarkable. Squirrels 🐿️ are literally the best. And deep down, I think they would Al love a human friend
Aw that's beautiful I have 2 chipmunks that play and will stay on the patio with me when I'm out there
Riveting, I wonder how long ground squirrels normally live in the wild!
2-3 years it said in the beginning of the video
Okay ill admit it, I'm a softy and had tears in my eyes. 😊 What a beautiful life story, It brought back many happy memories of the Critters ive had interactions with throughout my life. There is just nothing like it as anyone knows that has interacted with wild animals one on one.
I appreciate that this person understands the nature of it all & above all, respects it. 💜
I love how you grew in your awareness and the humility of realizing it was there all along❤️❤️
It's Amazing that you have had a Special opportunity to get to know Ms. Bonita...Thank you for taking great care of her...Such an inner Spiritual relationship that is Priceless!!!
What a beautiful description on Ground Squirrels and life in general ❤
Such a sweet story. First time a saw ground squirrels was on the beach in Cali while looking at the seals. They were everywhere working the crowd. One came right to me an jumped on me to sniff out the hard candy in my pocket. Everyone was surprised but I calmly gave it to him an off he went. I live in Houston an especially after hurricanes I get calls about baby squirrels on the ground. I have raised many many babies over the years. What a joy to have known these sweet creatures. I never had one come back to visit til recently. She knows me an. Comes right to the sliding glass door an looks is for a handout. My boxer knows she is off limits an never goes after her. She recently came with a injury on her hip and her back foot toes were just hanging. I started giving her half baby aspirin daily in avocado an she has healed beautifully. Has slight limp an bones sticking thru the skin on her foot have now dried an dropped off. Now she gets a buffet daily and I’m delighted to see her. She is pregnant an getting chubby. I call her Squrrly Girl.
This was such a magical video and made me so happy! Long live Miss Bonita! 🐿❤
♥️♥️♥️♥️🐿🐿🐿🐿🐿 I've formed a friendship w some squirrels and chipmunks and birds in my backyard and now from spending so much time w them I can tell what they're "talking" about by their chips, squeaks, chirps and so on and the squirrels tail flicking lol......I feel extremely fortunate for this experience! I love them all so much......
I just love this story!!! What a blessed woman to have this in her life.
My backyard has daily drama. Squirell wars, falcon, hawk, cats all trying to kill something. Don't hate squirrels, they're just trying to survive and not get killed in the process
