My kids introduced me to Ark and because we didn't know any better plus "OMG shinehorns are soo cute!", we started on Aberration. What followed was a brutal baptism of death, loss and suffering, followed by more death and loss. After 5 months or so we moved to Scorched and the relief was palpable. It felt and tasted like freedom and the weather barely bothered me at all. Spent an amazing year on SE before sampling Rag, Centre etc. Just seems funny when so many say SE is hard. To me it was my easy mode escape from hell :) Years later and looking back, prob 40% of the map difficulty on Abby was server latency, de sync and dc's. However, even on single player Abby will kick ur arse if you aren't prepared.
I guess it was the other way around for me. I introduced my kid. I mean ark is actually a year older than him. At one point I noticed he was becoming a dinosaur nut, and I was like "I have just the thing". So now we play Ark, and the isle, and watch Jurassic Park movies together. It all started with land before time.
My dad introduced me. I used to watch him play and recently I got the game. We started on Fjordur, made another server which went from The Island to Extinction to Lost Island to Ragnarok (staying at Rag for now). For me and my sisters we got Gen 2 which changed to Scorched Earth. Weather is kind of annoying lol.
@@Mephilis78That's so awesome. Hopefully when i have kids, we can enjoy this game or one similar in the future. That sounds like a great way spend time together.
@@LogicAndCompassion it's really cool when you find out your kid is really into the stuff you liked when you were little. Especially when birthdays come around and you know exactly what toys they want, because it's exactly what you would have picked lol.
The main issue I had with scorched earth was lack of creatures. It just felt a bit dead compared to other maps. Yet on rag I find the desert one of my favourite places
I really can’t imagine you getting raide. Everyone in the tribe is screaming and running around like headless chickens. But then there’s you all chill sipping your tea lol
Stealing eggs with a bloodstalker works really well until it randomly decides to drop you in lava lol. 3 or 4 times my stalker just randomly wouldnt pull me up and would just fall straight down even though i grappled the ledges at the top. An argy with 150 speed or higher is pretty sweet as long as you have enough health to tank some lightning wyvern hits
Great video bro! I’ve been thinking about getting a dlc and have been hard to pick between this, aberration, and extinction, but thanks to this vid, I’m definitely getting scorched earth, it looks so good
Did you get one yet? If not I highly recommend Scorch and Ab as they provide a TOTALLY different experience, whereas extinction can feel repetitive and boring after a while
I am reletavely new to ark and i tried scorched earth after accidentally deleting my single player save i could never survive without dying by lack of water and this has helped me and i will give it a try after i beat the island
Scorched-earth the wind map I love the most because it was the one map I actually thrived in. Yes it is a map that barely nobody wants to go on because why should they they have Ragnarok Crystal Isles Center and so many other places they can go to and get most of the stuff. This is one place that you would barely find an alpha try building nowadays sense mostly they would rather go through another map where their equipment doesn't slowly destroy itself. But if you know the way of the land and you know what you're doing you can survive through this. I do recommend anybody that wants to play Scorch to go and get some more faster flyers in other Maps because trust me though there are wyverns on this map I will hand it to Ragnarok on giving more higher-level wyverns. But I will say though nothing beats going in with only a crossbow and a grappling hook grabbing that egg then getting the hell out of there and hopping on the back of a wolf and running as fast as you can through the desert. Those were the good days. Also here's a little tip. If you want your base to always have water in it instead of trying to go in transfer water from one area to another just find one of these spots around the area that you can build a well on and just build a base around the well so you will always have water inside of your base. It won't be enough to get the plants going but it will be enough to save you during those really hot days when you need some water. If you want water for your plants I would actually suggest getting a Congo line of the dinos that actually take in a thousand water. Then slowly start taking the water out of them and put it into the plant trust me I know this will be annoying but you do not want to build near the water's because everybody fights over the water
for the caves, something fast to just ignore everything or be a little bit cheeky and use something like a megalania to climb away without being touched
This map is SO HARD, barely getting into this map and literally getting swarmed by many creatures and animals. Me and my homies just defeated the overseer in the island but this map is a whole different level.
Funnily enought SE has the biggest amount of water sources And running the caves is easy with a single okayish thyla, just rush thro all the enemies and occasionally cryo your tame when needed. Just hope there are no other players is blockin your way. AT 6:33 you dont need to bother with the platform section, just climb the right shortcut with the thyla. And since theres no redwood, you will have easier time taming thylas
Here is some additional advice I would give I play on SP so things might be different although I have the SP setting unchecked so my difficulty is a bit harder. 1. A random Wyvern can spawn in different places on the map and can ruin your day especially early on in the game if you have nothing to fight it off with 2. If you are playing no mods one of my favorite early methods of creating adobe is to use a feeding trough to preserve cactus sap since the tames I have don't eat it. I make a shelf out of a catwalk place the bin on top of it and bring it down cactus sap from my trough to the mortar and pestles on my table with a bunch of sand waiting in a large storage box. It is a cool little station that I haven't used since I started using Eco mods that have preserving storage. 3. At least in my experience it is a good thing to use an Anky in gathering cactus sap and thatch simultaneously with its tail whip from cactus for Adobe 4. You can craft a tent and place it over an Lymantria that has landed for an easy tame. Just KO it through the tent opening 5. Two great creatures to transfer in from other maps is a beezelbufo and a velonosaur. The Beezlebufo can gather a ton of paste if you pump ups its melee to kill the Jug bugs and ants as you go around. I like Velonsaurs because they can make good defense against Wyvern attacks. 6. An advanced creature to bring is a bred and imprinted Snow Owl. They are the only flier to get speed increases from imprint. They are the ultimate tame for stealing Wyvern eggs. They can dive glide similar to the Griffin to gain a lot of speed. Unlike the Griffin they can wear saddles and can tank more damage. They can kill a wyvern in 1v1 combat if you get the wyvern to start circling with you and biting it where it won't be able to attack you as often. It can heal you with its freeze ability after taking direct poison breath damage and it can slowly heal itself too which makes it great for multiple trench runs in a day. 7. I would push really hard to make a chemistry bench since it can yield more resources especially since you need to craft a lot of paste. 8. Archaeopteryx if set on wander will harvest sap from Joshua trees. So you can have a steady supply of tree sap. 9. It is mostly common knowledge but Jerboa's are great shoulder pets because they warn you on which storm is coming depending on the sounds they make 10. As for normal map security I would tame up a pack of dire wolves as soon as possible. Many times you can find one by itself not in the pack and should be easy to tame. They should be able to shred most things on the map including Death Worms... save Wyverns and Rock Golems. 11. Like Giga's wild Rock Golems are much stronger than tamed ones so still be careful. 12. Wind turbines don't need decay 13. Fire Wyverns are the best to tame the Phoenix 14. It might be common sense but if you don't have enough clay on hand you can make your perimeter walls out of stronger materials. As long as they aren't a part of giving you the house bonus you won't get penalized and cook. Same if you want to make an open roof stone hut for example.
